Angela Toscano
TAMPA, Fla. — Mrs. Angela (Angie) Toscano, of Tampa, Fla., passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998 after a lengthy illness. A memorial service for Angela was held Saturday, Jan. 10, 1998 at the Blount Funeral Home of Tampa, Fla.

Angela was born in Jamestown and lived and worked in Oneonta from 1980 until 1996, when she moved to the Tampa area.

She is survived by three sons and a daughter, Dean Toscano of Knoxville, Tenn., Vince Toscano of Tampa, Fla., Rick Toscano of Manhattan and Toni Migliore of Sterling, Va.; mother, Sylvia Triscari of Jamestown; brother, Tony Triscari of Ohio and three grandchildren, Dylan and Meredith Toscano and Michael Migliore.

Mom, we will miss you very much.

Contributions in Angela's memory may be made to Tampa Bay Church of Christ, 9544 Pebble Glen Ave., Tampa, Fla. 33647.

Earl R. Holm
WALTON — Earl R. Holm, formerly of Delmar, died at Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton on March 4, 1998 after a long illness.

Born Jan. 22, 1909 in San Mateo, Calif., he was the son of Dr. Edgar and Agnes Nielsen Holm. He was predeceased by a sister, Anna Jerrell, of California and a brother, Herbert of Florida.

He attended Humbolt State College in California and completed his studies at the New Jersey Game Management Institute where he majored in wildlife management.

He was employed by the New York State Conservation Department and was instrumental in the design and construction of the Delmar Game Farm, now the Five Rivers Environmental Center. He later was appointed superintendent of Game Farms for New York state. He retired after 40 years as a chief wildlife biologist in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation. At that time he was appointed an honorary Adirondack Guide.

As past president of the North American Game Breeders and Shooting Preserve Operators Association, he was the recipient of their first Annual Merit Award in 1980. Mr. Holm was a contributing writer to "The Conservationist," including its inaugural issue.

He worked extensively with sportsmen and 4-H clubs throughout New York state and was recognized as an expert in waterfowl and game bird propagation and management.

An avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman, he was a Walton resident for the last 10 years.

Husband of the late Eileen Caulfield Holm, he is survived by his children, Dr. Richard Holm of Fort Lee, N.J., Christine Holm Lonnstrom of Slingerlands, Kathleen Holm Wood of Walton, Patricia Holm of Medway, Mass., and Jeanne Holm of Walton; a grandfather of Paul and Andrew Wood and Erin Holm; also, he is survived by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7, 1998 at 11 a.m. at Clark and Winter Funeral Home, 25 Townsend St., Walton.

Memorials may be made to the Northeastern Association of the Blind at Albany Inc., 301 Washington Ave., Albany, N.Y. 12206.

Robert J. Lynch
ONEONTA — Robert J. Lynch, 76, of Oneonta, died Thursday, March 5, 1998 at his residence.

He was born Oct. 11, 1921 in Oneonta, the son of James and Fannie (Bolles) Lynch. He married Agnes M. Mumford on April 7, 1951 in Oneonta.

Bob joined Company G, 106th Infantry in 1939. After being activated in 1940, he was stationed in the South West Pacific, where he received a battle field commission to second lieutenant.

He retired in 1980 after 36 years of service as a local mail carrier.

A lifelong area resident, he was a member of St. Mary's Church, the VFW and Oneonta American Legion Post 259.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes M. Lynch of Oneonta; three daughters, and their spouses, Carol and Kenneth West of Watertown, Joan and Thomas Oliver of Horseheads and Annette M. Lynch of Waycross, Ga.; five grandchildren, Tanya and Daniel West, Jeffrey, Bethany and Christy Oliver. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Lynch, a half sister, Mrs. Thomas (Ethel) Lynch, and a half brother, Walter Hecox.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, March 7, 1998 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, with the Rev. Paul Roman, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be later in the spring in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.

Friends may call Friday, March 6, 1998 at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta, from 7-9 p.m. at which time the family will be in attendance.

The Oneonta American Legion Post 259 will conduct a service of remembrance at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or the Catskill Area Hospice.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Ada E. Silvernail
ONEONTA — Mrs. Ada E. Silvernail, 84, of Oneonta, died Wednesday, March 4, 1998 at A.O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home, Oneonta.

Born Jan. 28, 1914 in South Kortright, she was the daughter of Louis and Iva (Scutt) Schuman. Ada was married to Harry Silvernail until his death in 1969.

She formerly resided at Franklin and Prosser Hollow and later moved to Oneonta. Ada worked for J.J. Newberry Co. in Oneonta prior to working as an engineering technician for Bendix Corp. in Sidney, where she retired in 1976.

Ada enjoyed yardwork and flowers.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris (Hewitt) Hawver of Oneonta; three grandsons, Robert, Donald and Douglas Hewitt of Florida; one sister, Dorothy Silliman of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Irene Schuman of Batesville, Ark.; 10 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a son, Robert, who died in 1949.

A graveside funeral and committal service will be held later in the spring of 1998 at a time to be announced. The Rev. Stephen Heiss, pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church in Oneonta, will officiate.

There will be no calling hours.

Mrs. Silvernail will be placed in the Bookhout Funeral Home private vault to await burial in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Richard Karl Alverson
DELHI — Richard Karl Alverson, 47, of Albany, a Delhi native and former resident, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998 at his home, the result of a heart attack.

He was born Jan. 27, 1951 in Delhi, the eldest child of George F. and Jean I. (Obst) Alverson.

A 1969 graduate of Delaware Academy, he received his formal education at SUNY Albany.

A resident of Albany since his college days, Richard never married and was a self-employed computer consultant and owner/president of Alverson Media Services.

Surviving are his parents, George Alverson of Cherry Valley and Jean Alverson of Delhi; four brothers, Steven and Thomas of Delhi, David of Greene and Daniel Alverson of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sisters, Ann Kelley of LeRoy and June Fraser of Fraser; 10 nieces and nephews, several aunts and cousins.

Cremation was made through Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi.

Friends are invited to attend memorial services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Delhi, where Richard was raised and confirmed as a youth.

The Rev. Richard J. Niebanck, pastor, will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the church, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Delhi, 13753.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet.

Francis M. Gennett
WALTON — Francis M. Frank Gennett of Walton, died March 5, 1998 in Walton at age 89.

Born Jan. 22, 1909 in Barre, Vt., the son of Rocco and Madeline Genet Gennett, he married Florence Robertson Jan. 1, 1936 in Andes. She predeceased him in 1995.

A lifelong Republican committeeman, Frank worked with the authorization, power and backing of the people. He worked tirelessly and to the best of his ability to benefit not himself but for those whom he represented and for the individual.

His political career started in 1936. One year later, he came to Walton and married Florence, also starting a career as a trainee in the animal feed business, later rising to manage seven stores. He was an appraisal commissioner for four years, serving the Eastern Seaboard as director of Asphalt Institute in Baltimore, Md. He was elected director two terms in Region 9 for the New York state Bituminous Asphalt Association.

A member of the Elks and Preston Grange and Norwich Club, he helped Assemblyman Irving Ives from 1936 to 1947. He was instrumental in forming the Norwich Township Grange along with traveling throughout the region.

In 1946 he moved back to Walton where his lifelong friend, future Supreme Court Judge Walter L. Terry moved next door. In 1955 Chairman "Doc" Bush offered Frank a job in the NYS Senate with Senator Wicks as assistant sergeant-at-arms. In 1957 "Doc" Bush became senator and Frank went to Albany with him as a district assistant. He remained there until 1966 when he went to work for Senate Majority Leader Warren Anderson. In 1968 he began serving on what would become known as the Delaware County IDA. He served that organization as president until age 86.

In 1972 he went to work for future Assembly Minority Leader Clarence (Rapp) Rappleyea. Receiving Rapp's goodwill ambassador designation on June 29, 1980. Frank continued working for Rapp until his retirement.

He will be sorely missed by the scores of people he knew for his wit, good will and storytelling abilities. His family will miss him greatly.

He is the beloved father of Sandra Gonzales of Tonawanda; cherished grandfather of David, Joseph, Stephen and Paul Sajdak; great-grandfather of Krista, Andrew, Michael and Morgan; step-great-grandfather to Christopher and Maria; two brothers, Lawrence and the Rev. Monsignor A. James; and a sister, Rose Damon; also several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Angeline and two brothers, Joseph and Michael.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Monday, March 9, 1998 at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Walton, with the Rev. Eugene F. Willis, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in New Kingston Cemetery at a later date.

Friends may call at Clark and Winter Funeral Home Sunday, the family will be in attendance from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the charitable organization of one's choice in the name of Frank Gennett.

Arrangements are by Clark and Winter Funeral Home, Walton.

Maureen Erin George
MARGARETVILLE — Maureen Erin George, 40, of Margaretville, died Thursday morning, March 5, 1998 at Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville, after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born Sept. 4, 1957 in Margaretville, one of 11 children of Carson M. and Helen T. (Buckley) George.

A lifelong Margaretville area resident, she was a 1976 graduate of Margaretville High School and a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Maureen was much loved and will be remembered for her strong will and her amazing sense of humor through her time of illness. She will be sorely missed.

Surviving are a daughter, Erin George of Arkville, a student at SUNY Albany; her mother, Helen George of Arkville; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Cathleen and Paul Spickerman of Margaretville, Colleen Davis of Fort Collins, Colo., Jeanne Marie George of Steubenville, Ohio, Patricia and Lonnie Miller of Scottsdale, Ariz., Pamela Bailey of Shandaken and Lisa George of Lodi, Ohio; four brothers, Michael George of Margaretville, Stephen and his wife Carrie George of Greenville, Jon George of Grand Junction, Colo., and Tim George of Kingston; four nieces and five nephews, Jennifer Spickerman-Ennist and Justin Spickerman of Margaretville, Jessica and Stephanie George of Greenville, Damon and Shawn Davis of Colorado, Brendon Bailey and Kaitlyn Smith of Shandaken and Jared George of Ohio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon on Monday, March 9 at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Margaretville by the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell, pastor.

Burial will be at a later date in the Margaretville Cemetery Annex.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville at which time the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 20 Elm St., Delhi, N.Y. 13753.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
