William Gerald Lindsley
MORRIS — William Gerald Lindsley, 68, of Morris died Friday, March 20, 1998 at his residence in Morris.

He was born May 25, 1929 in Oriskany Falls, the son of Gerald and Alice (Powers) Lindsley.

He served his country in the United States Navy from 1946-1954.

He was employed for over 25 years as a welder and brazer for Bendix Corp., retiring in 1992.

He was a very active member of the Morris Fire Department, where he had served as fire police captain for several years and was still active at the time of his death. He was a life member of the Laurens American Legion Post and also the Morris VFW Post. He was a former member and Golden Eagle of the Eagles Club of Oneonta and also a member of the 6th Ward Athletic Club.

Bill is survived by his loving companion, Kathy Libby of Morris; one daughter, Cheryl Shaver of West New Haven, Conn.; two sons, Richard Lindsley of Otego and Stanley Lindsley of Monks Corners, S.C.; three brothers, Kenneth Lindsley of Newington, Conn., Norman Lindsley of Sidney and Ronald Lindsley of Otego; one sister, Norma Jean Thomas of Oneonta; several grandchildren and many good friends.

An Otsego County Fireman's Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 27, 1998 at 7 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home with the Rev. Kip Stratton officiating.

Cremation took place at the Hillington Crematory in Morris and there will be no calling hours. It was Bill's request that in lieu of flowers, friends donate to the Morris Fire Department or the Catskill Area Hospice in his memory.

Jean E. Kaltschmidt
DENVER — Jean E. Kaltschmidt, 68, of Denver, died March 18, 1998 at Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville.

She was born April 1, 1929 in Queens, the daughter of Louis Kaltschmidt and Mary E. Peace.

She never married.

She was a veteran of World War II in Wac's. She was a homemaker.

She lived in the town of Roxbury for several years, moving there from Long Island.

She is survived by two brothers, Richard Kaltschmidt of Long Island and Louis Kaltschmidt of Centerville, Mass. and by nieces and nephews.

Committal services will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.

Arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Samuel `Percy' Reinhardt
DELHI — Samuel "Percy" Reinhardt, 84, of Delhi and formerly of Oneonta died Saturday, March 21, 1998 at Countryside Care Center in Delhi, where he had been a resident since March 1997.

He was born Apirl 15, 1913 in Shavertown, the son of George H. Reinhardt and Lizzie Belle (Barnhart) Reinhardt.

He married Edna Coulter on Sept. 30, 1937 in Central Islip, L.I.

Percy attended school in Shavertown and Andes. After high school he received automotive training in Brooklyn and graduated as a master mechanic. He pursued a career as a parts clerk and parts manager in Delhi and later in Oneonta.

From the age of 6, Percy played baseball and for 25 years played catcher for many area teams. An outstanding athlete all his life, he fondly recalled a highlight of his baseball career in 1933 when he played against and associated with the famous "Lefty" Gomez.

He also served his country in World War II as a staff sergeant in the United States Army.

In 1949 he began umpiring baseball and for 25 years he was a member of Schohanna Board of Baseball Umpires, serving as secretary for 11 years and an instructor for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years; one daughter, Elaine of Delhi; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Kathy of Raleigh, N.C. and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, William Glenn and Cecil.

At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the family's convenience. Burial will be at a later date in the Hamden Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, Delhi or Countryside Care Center, Delhi.

Christine E. (Scott) Van Denburgh
ONEONTA — Mrs. Christine E. (Scott) Van Denburgh, 88, of Oneonta, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998 at The Meadows, Cooperstown.

She was born Feb. 25, 1910 in Gilbertsville, the daughter of Henry and Jenny (Edgett) Church.

Christine was twice married. She married Frank L. Scott on April 26, 1926 at Harpursville. Mr. Scott died Oct. 6, 1962. On June 11, 1966 she married Jay Van Denburgh in Oneonta. Mr. Van Denburgh died April 23, 1977.

Christine had been a resident of Oneonta for over 70 years. She was a licensed practical nurse and did private duty nursing in area homes as well as having worked for A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home.

She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church, Oneonta. Christine had also been a deaconess at the church as well as having been a member of the Missionary Group, the Sunshine Class and the Ladies Circle. She was a 50-plus year member of the Royal Rebekah Lodge No. 161 of Oneonta, a Past Noble Grand and the Past Noble Grands Association of the Royal Rebekahs.

She is survived by her son and two daughters-in-law, Lewis C. and Patricia Scott of Maryland and Margaret Scott of Schenevus; her stepdaughter and her husband, Virginia and C. Wesley Coddington of Otego; four grandchildren, Priscilla Thompson of Otego, Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Amo of Maryland; Shawn Scott of Fredricksburg, Va. and Steven Scott of Endicott; six great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Priscilla Taite of Troy and Douglas Coddington of Oneonta; six step-great-grandchildren and several cousins.

She was predeceased by a son, Allen F. Scott who died June 8, 1987.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 1998 from the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. The Rev. C. Norman Moran, East Central Area Director of CB International and former pastor of Main Street Baptist Church, will officiate.

Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta from 7-9 p.m. today when the family will be present at the funeral home.

Mrs. Van Denburgh will be placed in the Bookhout Funeral Home private vault to await spring burial in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery at a later date.

It has been requested that expressions of sympathy be given to the Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 or the Flower Fund at The Meadows, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326 in memory of Christine E. (Scott) Van Denburgh.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Melissa Marie Webster
SOUTH VALLEY — Melissa M. Webster, 26, passed away Friday, March 20, 1998 as the result of a car accident in the town of Roseboom.

She was born Feb. 28, 1972 in Cobleskill, the daughter of George and Dale (Christman) Webster.

Melissa attended First Christian Church, South Valley and was a 1990 graduate of the Cherry Valley-Springfield School, graduating with a Regents diploma.

She worked as a certified nursing assistant since graduating. Her caring manner made her a favorite with her patients and her greatest reward in life was a smile from her patients and knowing that she mattered.

Melissa enjoyed gardening, crafts, reading, cooking and her pet Chows. Her greatest joy in her life was her daughter, Sarah, who she loved without bounds.

She will be dearly missed by her family and will be remembered every day with much love and tenderness; forever in the minds and hearts of those who knew her.

Melissa is survived by her "life mate," James Mancuso and their daughter, Sarah Emily Mancuso of South Valley; a beloved sister, Heather Webster; parents, George and Dale Webster of South Valley; paternal grandmother, Gertrude Webster of South Valley; maternal grandparents, Edward and Phyllis Christman of Middlefield; maternal uncles and aunts, Tim and Pam (Christman) Hotaling, Elizabeth Christman, Merri (Christman) Hendericks, Bruce Christman, Alan and Melinda Christman; paternal aunts and uncles, Dennis and Joan (Webster) Hoke, Roger and Beverly (Webster) Erway, Norine (Webster) Lundy, Shirley Webster, Bud Lundy, John Webster, Barry Webster, Londa Brown and many cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Dawn Marie Webster, on Jan. 15, 1974 and a paternal grandfather, Stanley Webster in July 1992.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 1 p.m. at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley with Elliot Brody assisted by the Rev. Alan Miller, officiating. Spring burial will take place in the South Valley Cemetery, South Valley.

Calling hours will be today from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Katherine Wood
ORISKANY — Katherine Wood, 92, of the Eastern Star Home and formerly of Springfield Center, passed away March 21, 1998 at the Eastern Star Home.

She was born Aug. 16, 1905 in Burdett, the daughter of Ralph and Nellie Frautz Winton.

She was a graduate of Eastwood High School and graduated from Richfield Training School for Teachers. Katherine also took courses at Syracuse University, Cornell University and Rochester Institute of Technology.

On June 26, 1926, she married Adelbert Wood. Mr. Wood predeceased her in 1964.

Mrs. Wood was the Administrator of the Eastern Star Home, Oriskany, for seven years, retiring in 1976. She previously worked at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, first as the Assistant to the Personnel Director and became the Director of Admission in 1959. Also, she worked with her husband at their family business and taught school for seven years at Richfield Springs and Springfield Central Schools.

Mrs. Wood was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Springfield Center, where she served on the Vestry. She joined the former Evergreen Chapter, OES in 1924, later Otsego-Hartwick Chapter No. 201, OES, where she served as Matron. Mrs. Wood was Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, for the state of New York in 1953. Katherine was the vice chairman of the Otsego County Republican Party, in 1961.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janice Wood of Fayette and Karlyn and Louise Wood of West Babylon, L.I.; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Arlene Titus of Rochester; a brother, William H. Winton of Rochester; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a sister, Lucille Wright.

Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Chapel of the Eastern Star Home, Oriskany. Interment will be later in the spring in Springfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, consider donations to the Eastern Star Home, Oriskany or St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Springfield Center, in memory of Mrs. Wood.

Arrangements are in care of the J.W. Dimbleby Funeral Home, Whitesboro.

Frances M. Keeler
OTEGO — Mrs. Frances M. Keeler, 75, of Otego, died Sunday, March 22, 1998 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

She was born Dec. 31, 1922 in Delhi, the daughter of William and Gertrude (Martin) Hymers.

She married Glenn B. Keeler in 1972 in California.

Frances has worked at Bendix in Sidney, having retired in 1958. She had moved to California and had taken care of the Parthenia Garden Apartments in Sepulveda, Calif. In 1989 she returned to Otego. Frances was an avid gardener and enjoyed flowers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband, Glenn B. Keeler of Otego; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Patricia and Fredric Snyder of Gloversville and Mrs. Janice and Michael Parsons of Sacramento, Calif.; one son and daughter-in-law, Walter L. and Karen Feltman of Otego; one sister, Elizabeth Douglas of Pasadena, Calif.; one sister-in-law, Edith Hymers of Lafayette, N.J.; seven grandchildren, Willie Feltman, Karen Feltman, Patrick Condon, Shannon Condon, Victoria Condon, Timothy Hutson and Joelle Hutson; five great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Frances was predeceased by one sister, Clara Clark, and two brothers, Douglas and Louis Hymers.

A service to celebrate the life of Frances M. Keeler will be held on Thursday, March 26, 1998 at 4 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 30 River St., Otego.

The Rev. Fred Albrecht, pastor of the Otego United Methodist Church, Otego, will officiate.

Mrs. Keeler was cremated at Hillington Crematory, Morris.

The family will be in attendance at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 30 River St., Otego, Thursday, March 26, 1998 from 3 p.m. until service time for those who wish may call.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Otego Emergency Squad, River Street, Otego, N.Y. 13825 in memory of Mrs. Frances M. Keeler.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Lenna Dimicco
SIDNEY — Miss Lenna Dimicco, 93, of 14 Liberty St., Sidney, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 21, 1998 at The Hospital, Sidney.

Lenna was a lifelong Sidney resident and parishioner of the Sacred Heart Church.

She was born May 9, 1904 in Sidney. Miss Dimicco was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Suava Dimicco.

She is survived by four sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise Dickson of Sidney, Pauline and William McIntyre of Stuart, Fla., and Sidney, Virginia and William O'Donnell of Stuart, Fla., and Endicott and Florence Hall of Adache Junction, Ariz. Also several nieces, nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by five brothers, John, John II, George, Louis and Frank, and two sisters, Theresa Hardison and Mary Foy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 1998 from the Sacred Heart Church, Sidney. The Rev. Fr. Gordon Polenz, pastor, will officiate.

Burial will be in the spring in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Friends are invited to call at their convenience Wednesday at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. The family will be in attendance from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A wake service will be held Wednesday evening at the funeral chapel.

Memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the Sacred Heart Church, Liberty Street, Sidney, N.Y. 13838 or to The Hospital Foundation, Pearl Street, Sidney, N.Y. 13838.

Carlyle Hoffman
MORRIS — Carlyle F. (Rocky) Hoffman, 77, a lifelong resident of Morris died Sunday, March 22, 1998 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born Sept. 21, 1920 in Walton, the son of Jesse and Nellie (Smith) Hoffman.

He attended Walton Central School and then served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II in Italy, Africa and Germany.

He married Virginia Southern Nov. 8, 1944 in New Berlin. She died Jan. 24, 1994.

He was employed with TACO of Sherburne as a machinist, retiring when he turned 65.

He was a member of Morris Memorial Post No. 1417 VFW and a former member of the Morris American Legion Post No. 1135.

Rocky's favorite pastime was trout fishing.

He is survived by a daughter, Donna Haug and her husband Bruce of Newark Valley; two sons, Robert L. Hoffman and his wife, Roberta of Sherburne and Carlyle (Buddy) Hoffman of Garrattsville; a sister, Jean Coons and her husband David of Sidney; a brother, Ralph Hoffman and his wife Jane of Walton. Also eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from 7-9 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris.

Graveside military services will be conducted in the spring at the Hillington Cemetery in Morris.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Morris Memorial Post No. 1417 VFW in his memory.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
