He lived in Auburn most of his life until he moved to Richfield Springs five months ago. He was a crane operator for 20 years at the former ALCO Power, Auburn. He was a former communicant of St. Alphonsus Church, Auburn. Survivors: Several cousins. Graveside services: 11:15 a.m. today at Soule Cemetery, Sennett. No calling hours. Ruth Rybash Englert, 74, of 416 N. Seward Ave., Auburn, died Tuesday at Finger Lakes Center for Living. Born in Auburn, she graduated from Auburn Academic High School. She was an account clerk for Red Star, Auburn, and retired in 1989. She worked in the accounting department at Big Store, Auburn. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Auburn. Her husband, Thomas, died in 1973. Her son, Thomas W., died in 2001. Survivors: A daughter, Christine Englert of Auburn; a sister, Elizabeth R. Wyslowski, of Raleigh, N.C.; three grandchildren. Francis "Frank" Guinta, 83, of Liverpool died Wednesday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1981 after 37 years at Carrier Corp. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served with the 83rd Armored Division. Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Viola V. Nicholas; two daughters, Gloria J. Morey of West Monroe and Susan M. Robins of Liverpool; three sons, James F. of Baldwinsville, Anthony J. of Lysander and Timothy A. of Camillus; a brother, Joseph of Lyncourt; 13 grandchildren. Neil R. Hughes, 86, of county Route 57, Phoenix, died Wednesday. He was born in Phoenix and was a life resident. He graduated from Phoenix High School in 1934. He was a machinist at Nestle Co., Fulton, for 41 years, and retired in 1979. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, Phoenix. Survivors: His wife of 66 years, the former Eleanor C. Lobdell Hughes; two sons, Gerald C. of Phoenix and Lawrence D. of Syracuse; a sister, Rachel Locke of Pittsburgh, Pa.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church. He was a member of the Bridgeport Gun Club and the South Bay Association. His first wife, Helen, died in 1992. Survivors: His wife of two years, Evelyn VanSchaak; a daughter, Mary Grabowski of North Syracuse; two sons, William of Cicero and Frank of Jack's Reef; three sisters, Mary Bartkowski, Lottie Starowicz and Jennie Purchiaroni, all of Syracuse; a brother, Henry of Boston; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren. He graduated from Nottingham High School and the University of Buffalo School of Pharmacy. He was owner of Drumlins Pharmacy and Health Shop, Natur-Tyme and NEEDS, Inc. He was a member and former board member of Temple Adath Yeshurun. He was a nationally recognized consultant on health and supplements, hosting the Sunday morning WSYR radio show "Nutritional Insights." Survivors: His wife, the former Linda Stein; his first wife, Maureen Slive Anderson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Wendy Meyerson Fox of Manlius; a son, Richard of San Francisco; two stepsons, Jeffrey and David Pitegoff, both of Las Vegas; a sister, Linda Amster of New York City; a brother, James of New York City; two grandchildren. She graduated from Penn Hall Academy in 1928 and Simmons College, Boston, in 1923. She taught business subjects in Oneida schools. She was former president of Madison County Girl Scouts. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Teugega Country Club and Daughters of the American Revolution, Skenandoah Chapter. Her husband, Cornelius M., died in 1988; a daughter, Margaret, died in 1964. Survivors: A daughter, Carolyn Pomeroy of South Bend, Ind.; a son, Cornelius, of Wilmington, N.C.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was a Navy veteran from 1966 to 1970. Survivors: His wife of 16 years, the former Karyl J. Bettinger; four daughters, Dawn M. Degarmo of Yuma, Ariz., Debbie M. Moyer and Kitryn J. Ellis, both of East Syracuse, and Lisa B. Hellenberg of Pulaski; three sons, Dean P. Jr. of Pulaski, Michael Wade of Charlotte, N.C., and Eric Wade of West Monroe; four sisters, Penny C. Cummings of Verona Center, Darla Moyer of Adams, Gloria Moyer and Mandi Moyer, both of Orchard Park; three brothers, Herb of Mexico, Louis of Lacona and Gary of Roanoke, Va.; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter. He was a builder in the Syracuse area for more than 50 years and was a member of the Home Builders Association of Central New York. He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in Manlius and a member of Fremont Lions Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served with the 82nd Airborne Division. He graduated from Cortland High School. She was an office clerk at Cornell University for 15 years and retired in 1980. She was a partner in Reynolds Flower Shop, Cortland, for more than 15 years. Her first husband, Whitford, died in 1979, and her second husband, Hugh, died in 1996.
