Hernan Rodriguez Sr.
SCHENEVUS — Hernan (Herman) Rodriguez Sr., 66, of Schenevus, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997 at his residence.

He was born July 11, 1931 in Lares, Puerto Rico, the son of Juan E. and Jenerosa (Reyes) Rodriguez. He married Barbara Fredericks on July 7, 1956 in Central Islip.

Herman and his family moved to Schenevus in 1972 from Central Islip, Long Island. He retired in 1978 due to ill health. Prior to his retirement, he was a meat cutter for Loblaws grocery store on Long Island. Herman was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Rodriguez of Schenevus; his children and their spouses, Debra and George Ost of Schenevus, Hernan and Tempie Rodriguez Jr. of Schenevus, Bruce and Denise Frederick of New Bern, N.C. and Jessie Thorsland of Maryland; four grandchildren, Mikaela and Danielle Ost, Hernan Rodriguez III and Curtis Alexander Rodriguez, all of Schenevus; a brother, Juan Rodriguez Jr. of San Juan, Puerto Rico; a sister and brother-in-law, Nilda and Paco Soto of Lares, Puerto Rico. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997 at 3 p.m. at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Judy Humphrey-Fox, pastor of Davenport United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the spring in Davenport Cemetery, Davenport.

Friends may call Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, at which time the family will be in attendance.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Rose Elizabeth Cetta
WALTON — Rose Elizabeth Cetta, 94, of Walton, died Dec. 12, 1997 at her home.

She was born Jan. 19, 1903 in Walton, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Maglonia) Stasio, and married Joseph Cetta on April 8, 1920 in Walton. He predeceased her in June of 1968.

Mrs. Cetta was a housewife and a lifelong resident of Walton. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Walton since 1922; the Delaware County Democratic Club; a recipient of the Peg Pandick Democrat of the Year award; the Walton School PTA; Willowemock-Downsville Chapter 304 Order of the Eastern Star; Amaranth Queen Amelia Court, Oneonta; Walton Home Bureau; VFW Ladies Auxillary (past president); Walton Historical Society; Trout Creek Senior Citizens Club; Walton Senior Citizens Club; Episcopal Church Women's Guild; and was the National Poster Grandmother, Respect for Life, U.S. and Canada 1987.

She is survived by a son, Mauro Cetta of Walton; four daughters, Clara Salisbury of Walton, Kathlein Ray of Port Charlotte, Fla., Leonora Cianciosi of Vestal and Concetta Findlay of Batavia; one brother, Andrew Stasio of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Ida Solo of Dallas, Texas and Catherine Williams of Johnson City; also 24 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her twin brother, Thomas, a brother Anthony, three sisters, Carmella, Jeanette and Lena.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 16, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Walton, with the Rev. Nickolas Servetas, pastor of Christ Episcopal Church, officiating.

Friends may call at the Clark and Winter Funeral Home in Walton Monday evening from 6-9 p.m.

Burial will be in the Walton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church.

Holden Zachary
Poole-Quackenbush
NEW ORLEANS, La. — Holden Zachary Poole-Quackenbush, 2 months old, died at his home in New Orleans on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1997, of sudden infant death syndrome. He was born in New Orleans on Oct. 8, 1997.

He remains in the hearts of his mother, Shanti L. Poole; his father, Curtis J. Quackenbush; his paternal grandmother and grandfather, Connie and Norman Quackenbush of Oneonta; his maternal grandmother, Alice Rolfs of New Orleans; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

A graveside funeral was held on Monday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, 2260 West 21st Ave. in Covington, La.

E.J. Field Funeral Home in Covington was in charge of the arrangements.

Marjorie I. Kosier
STAMFORD — Marjorie I. Kosier, 70, of Stamford, died Dec. 11, 1997 at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City.

She was born Nov. 28, 1927 in Bloomville, the daughter of Perry and Alma (Bush) Craft. She married Alexander Kosier on June 21, 1952 in South Kortright.

Mrs. Kosier was a nurse at Community Hospital in Stamford and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stamford.

She is survived by her husband, Alex of Stamford; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lorriane Kosier of Stamford; a daughter and son-in-law, Alyce and Larry Bauer of Morris; a son, Jeffrey of Stamford; four grandchildren, Jeremy and Stacey Loucks of Morris and Michael and Crystal Kosier of Stamford; three sisters, Helen Soules of West Davenport, Marion Keyser of Fergusonville and Sally Van Akin of LaGrangeville; two brothers, Roger Craft of West Davenport and Earl Craft of Marlborough; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Dec. 15, 1997 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Stamford with the Rev. Father Joseph Cebula officiating.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.

Calling hours will be Sunday evening, Dec. 14, 1997 from 7-9 p.m. at MacArthur Funeral Home in Hobart.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Stamford Emergency Squad.

Funeral arrangements are by MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

Anthony R. Citro
PORT JEFFERSON STATION — Anthony R. Citro, of Port Jefferson Station, died Dec. 10, 1997.

He was the loving brother of Michael and Jennifer Citro, Joanne and James Grippe, Deborah and Edwin Sotomayor and Christine Citro. Also surviving are five nieces and five nephews.

Friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 411 Old Town Road, Setauket. Visiting hours will be Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, 8 a.m. at the Infant Jesus R.C. Church. Interment will be in Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Myra F. Barnes
COOPERSTOWN JUNCTION — Mrs. Myra F. Barnes, 94, of Maryland, passed away at Bassett Healthcare on Thursday, Dec. 11, 1997.

Mrs. Barnes was born on May 10, 1903, the daughter of Joseph and Frankie (Neer) Rosch in Brooklyn. She spent her early years in Charlotteville.

After graduating from Worcester High School, she went on to graduate from Albany State Teachers College and took a job as manager of the Wilber Lynch Jr. High School cafeteria in Amsterdam.

On Aug. 16, 1933, Myra married Raymond H. Barnes, who predeceased her in 1986. She resided in Cooperstown Junction until 1995 when she moved to the Meadows in Cooperstown. She was active in the Cooperstown Junction Methodist Church for over 50 years and spent many years as treasurer of the United Methodist Women's Society.

Mrs. Barnes was also a member of the N.Y.S. Retired Teachers Association and SUNY Albany Alumni Association. Her hobbies included cooking and gardening.

Her loving family includes a son, Joseph and a daughter-in-law Carol, who reside in Poughkeepsie; a grandson, Joseph Jr. and wife Karen residing in Phoenix, Ariz.; a granddaughter, Judith at N.Y.U. Medical School and a nephew, Harold Silliman, residing in Colliersville as well as several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. at the Meadows with the Rev. Rodney Johnson, pastor of the Cooperstown Methodist Church, and the Rev. Donald Phillie, chaplain at the Meadows, officiating.

Funeral services are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Mildred O. Cook
MILFORD — Mildred O. Cook, 78, of Milford, passed away Dec. 8, 1997 at Fox Hospital after a long illness.

She was born Aug. 16, 1919 in Belmore, the daughter of William and Josephine (Smedburg) Kleeman.

Mrs. Cook had been a private duty nurse in the Milford and Cooperstown areas since moving from Long Island.

She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Cooperstown and a member of Cooperstown Chapter O.E.S.

She is survived by one son, Cameron Cook of Cooperstown; one sister, Dottie Greenockoe of Port Ritchie, Fla.; three nephews and two nieces.

Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the Lewis Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.

Carol Margaret Dean
KINGSTON — Carol Margaret Dean, 93, of the Hudson Valley Senior Residence, 80 Washington Ave., Kingston, died at Albany Avenue Manor in Kingston on Saturday, Dec. 13, 1997.
She resided in Troy from 1927 until moving to Kingston on Aug. 6, 1996.

Born in Oneonta on July 24, 1904, she was the daughter of Merton Dean and Alice May Shepherd Dean. She graduated from Oneonta High School in 1922 and received a bachelor's degree from the Syracuse University School of Library Science in 1927.

In her youth, she was associated with the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta, where she both attended and taught Sunday School.

For 44 years, from 1927 until her retirement in 1971, she served as reference librarian in Troy Public Library.

She was a direct descendant of Revolutionary patriot Eseck Potter and joined the Hoosac-Walloomsac Chapter 1-072-NY of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Hoosick Falls in 1976 and served as chapter regent from 1979-1983. She became a member of the Ondawa-Cambridge Chapter of the DAR in Cambridge when the chapters merged.

She was the granddaughter of Henry and Sophia (Potter) Shepherd of Oneonta Plains and of Orson and Phoebe Franc (Derby) Dean of Oneonta.

Surviving cousins include Claude and Robert E. Haines of Kingston, Allan Haines of Wappingers Falls and Carol Cleary of Chappaqua.

Funeral services will be held at the A. Carr and Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., Kingston, Friday, Dec. 19 at 4 p.m., with the Rev. James C. Alley officiating.

A graveside service will be held at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery in Oneonta in the spring.

Inez E. Gregory
DENVER — Inez E. Gregory, 80, of Denver, died Dec. 13, 1997 at E.J. Noble Hospital/Samaritan at Alexandria Bay.

She was born March 1, 1917 in Arkville, the daughter of Frank Hammond and Mae Hinkley and married H. Linden Gregory on April 27, 1946. He predeceased her on Feb. 2, 1994.

A graduate of Roxbury Central School and the State University College of Technology at Delhi, she worked at Bell Air Craft in Buffalo and Niagara Falls during World War II.

Mrs. Gregory was a member of Earl Dudley American Legion Auxiliary, Belle Ayre Chapter O.E.S., United Methodist Church of Roxbury and the United Methodist Women of Roxbury. She was chairman of the Red Cross, Heart and Cancer Drives in Roxbury for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Linda Wagner of Burnt Hills, Jan Bond of Buffalo and Dawn Walentuk of Alexandria Bay; two sons, Linden Gregory and Walter Gregory, both of Schenectady; one sister, Janet German of Denver; one brother, James Hammond of Denver; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the United Methodist Church of Roxbury with the Rev. Arlene Penney and the Rev. Richard Dykstra officiating.

Burial will be in the Roxbury Methodist Cemetery following cremation.

Calling hours are today from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, Dec. 16 from 10-11 a.m. at Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury.

Memorial gifts may be made in her memory to the United Methodist Church, Roxbury.

Funeral arrangements are by Miller Funeral Home in Roxbury.

Charles L. Howland
ONEONTA — Mr. Charles L. Howland Jr., 79, of Oneonta, died Friday morning, Dec. 12, 1997 at the Valleyview Nursing Home in Norwich.

He was born July 27, 1918 in Oneonta, the son of Charles and Laura Dean Howland Sr.

Charlie married the former Theresa Sprecco on Aug. 16, 1947 in Oneonta.

A trainman for the D & H Railroad in Oneonta for over 30 years, he retired in 1974. A member of the Assembly of God, Oneonta, Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandson, Zues.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Theresa Sprecco Howland, of Oneonta; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Russell Shumate of Homestead, Fla.; a son, Charles L. Howland III of Lexington, N.C.; a sister, Natalie Se"gal of Cypress, Calif., six grandchildren, Thomas and Robert Angellotti of Otego, Brian Shumate of Homestead, Fla., David and Gregory Howland of Oneonta and Zues Howland of Greene; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Gail Angellotti, and a sister, Ruth Terry.

Funeral and committal services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16 from the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta with the Rev. John Grenier, pastor of the Assembly of God, Oneonta, officiating.

Mr. Howland will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris, and his remains will be interred in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney, in the spring.

Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, on Tuesday morning, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. until service time, when the family will be present at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy be made to the Oneonta Fire Department, Main Street, Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 in memory of Charles L. Howland Jr.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta and Otego.

Karl C. Kilpatrick
CHITTENANGO — Karl C. Kilpatrick, 71, of 331 Russell St., died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997 at Stonehedge Nursing Home, Chittenango, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Feb. 2, 1926 in Oneonta, the son of Ira and Marian Clark Kilpatrick.

Karl had lived in the Oneonta area most of his life. He had lived in Canastota from 1981-1987 and had lived in Chittenango since 1987.

Surviving are one brother and sister-in-law, Edward C. and Barbara Kilpatrick of Canastota. Also surviving are an aunt and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the J. Homer Ball Funeral Home Inc., 201 James St., Canastota. The Rev. William C. Redfield, vicar of Trinity Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, will officiate.

Spring burial will be in Plains Cemetery, Oneonta. There will be no calling hours.

In his memory, contributions may be made to the Stonehedge Nursing Home, Activities Department, 331 Russell St., Chittenango, N.Y. 13037, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

Margery I. Kosier
