Stanley M. Colella, 69, of Syracuse died Thursday. Born in Syracuse, he received a bachelor's degree from Syracuse University. He retired in 1988 after 32 years as a teacher in the Westhill school district. He was former conductor of the Army Reserves 98th Division Band and founded The Stan Colella Orchestra in 1972. He was director of the Syracuse City Parks & Recreation All-Star Band and was named music director of the New York State Fair in 1975. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church. Survivors: His wife of 46 years, the former Grace Cali; two sons, Anthony N. of North Syracuse and Leonard P. of Onondaga Hill; his mother, Josephine LaPenna Colella of Liverpool; a sister, Susan Alteri of Liverpool; two brothers, Leonard A. and Ernest V., both of Syracuse; four grandchildren. Jennie Irene Rhodes Cummings, 85, of Chaumont died May 12. Born in Maine, she lived many years in the Syracuse area before moving to Chaumont 15 years ago. She was a homemaker. Survivors: Her husband, Cordyce; three daughters, Judy Dalton of Phoenix, Linda Hook of Deltona, Fla., and Barbara Benyo of Big Flats; five sons, Ronald and Thomas, both of Deltona, James of Crawford, Texas, Russell of Dexter and Robert of Spencer; two brothers, Lester Dunham of Cuba, N.Y., and Harlan Dunham of Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2320 Band, Oswego, Guacho's Marching Band, Fulton, and the Oswego High School Marching Band. He was an Air Force veteran. Jane F. Lee O'Brien, 85, of Pine Street, Baldwinsville, died Wednesday. She was a life resident of Baldwinsville. She was a homemaker and previously worked for the Lysander Board of Elections. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville, and a member of the Ladies Catholic Benevolent Association. Her husband, Robert V., died in 1979; a daughter, Betty J. Voorhees, died in 1988. Born in Limerick, Ireland, she graduated from Father Young's Academy High School, New York City. She retired in 1989 as a manager at Travelers Insurance Co., New York City, and previously was a secretary and housekeeper at St. Helena's Church, Sherrill. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, Oneida. Her husband, Joseph J., died in 1988; a son, Patrick, died in 1993. Joseph F. Yelle, 70, of Hastings died Wednesday. He was born in Vermontville and lived in Saranac Lake before moving to Hastings 45 years ago. He was a self-employed contractor for 30 years. He was an antique dealer known as "Trader Joe" during the 1960s and '70s in Hastings. He was a member of American Legion Post 915 in Central Square. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
