Margaret Cole
SCHENEVUS — Margaret Louise Cole, 83, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2005, at her home.
She was born Feb. 3, 1922, in Warnerville, the daughter of George Englert and Anna (Roerig) Englert Clissold, and her stepfather, Arthur Clissold.
She married Sylvester D. Cole on July 3, 1943, in Clovis, N.M. He predeceased her May 31, 1996.
Margaret and her family moved to the Schenevus area in 1955. She worked for the Templeton Glove Shop in Schenevus and at Astrocom Electronics Inc. in Colliersville.
Margaret was an avid Yankees fan. She was a member of the C.H. Graham Hose Co. Auxiliary, Schenevus, a charter member of the Schenevus VFW Post 2752 Auxiliary and a member of the Schenevus Young at Heart Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her children, Donna and husband Terrence Johns of Richmondville, Sharon and her husband Patrick Ward of Maryland, David and his wife Pamela Cole of Westford and Richie Westcott of Schenevus; grandchildren, Sandra Salisbury, Darrick Cole, Dareth Haley, Brent and Brenden Johns, and Frank Ward; great-grandchildren, Kailee, Patrick and Triston O’Donnell, Isaiah and Iriyah Haley, Hailey Ward and Mackenzie Velasco; two sisters, Anna Elizabeth Zeller of Indian Lake, Fla., and Alma Binger of Warnerville; two stepsisters, Madeline Warner of Fultonham and Kay and Donald Phelan of Warnerville; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Bruce, and a grandson, Damian.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with family in attendance from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the Heller Funeral Home in Schenevus.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home, led by the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
Burial will follow in the Elk Creek Cemetery.

Harriett Catherine Speenburgh
STAMFORD — Harriett Catherine Speenburgh, 98, passed away peacefully at Robinson Terrace, Stamford, on Nov. 3, 2005, 33 days shy of her 99th birthday.
Hattie was born Dec. 6, 1906, at home in Spruceton. She was the seventh of 11 children of Edmund and Lillie (Dunham) Simmons.
Hattie lived her entire life in Greene County. For a time she was employed as a seamstress at the Dress Factory in Athens, while living in Catskill. "Aunt Hattie" loved to crochet.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her two infant children; her brothers, Harry, Clarence, Lloyd, Leonard, Burton and Edmund Simmons; and her sisters, Bessie VanValkenburg, Dorothy Persons and Emma Howard.
Hattie is survived by her sister, Laura Rappleyea of West Kill, as well as four generations of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR81, Greenville.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the United Methodist Church, Lexington.
Interment will be in the West Kill Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ladies Aid of the West Kill United Methodist Church.
Louise A. DeMyttenaere
ONEONTA — Louise A. DeMyttenaere, 88, of Oneonta passed away Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, at the Delaware County Countryside Care Center in Delhi.
Louise was born Feb. 2, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Kennel) Beaudry.
She married Theodore R. DeMyttenaere on June 2, 1937. He predeceased her Feb. 3, 2000.
She moved to the Franklin area with her husband in 1948 from Weston, Conn.
Louise worked until she retired as a teller at the National Bank of Delaware County in Franklin. Before that she worked at Elmore Milling, Henderson’s, and SS Kresge.
She was a member of the Aldrich Baptist Church in North Franklin, the Rolling Antique Car Club in Norwich, the Reminiscers Car Club of Oneonta and the Auxiliary of Otsego County Voiture of the 40/8.
She was an avid berry picker. Whenever and whatever berries were in season, Louise would head off with her picking buckets.
She is survived by her brother, Raymond Beaudry of Inverness, Fla.; and her sister, Arlene Osterhout of Inverness, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her sister, Eva Leach; and two brothers, Adam Beaudry and Roger Harker.
Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at which time the family will be in attendance.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at the funeral home with the Rev. Elliot Oakes officiating. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.

Mildred Irene Chase
NEW BERLIN — Mildred Irene Chase, 93, of New Berlin passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, in Norwich.
She was born July 16, 1912, in Morris, the daughter of Ruben and Mary (Gardner) Miller.
Mildred married Philip J. Chase on June 24, 1931; he predeceased her in 1981.
She spent her childhood in Morris and attended the local schools.
Mildred is survived by her children, Kathleen Robin, Camden, James H. Chase, Newark Valley, and Michael J. Chase, Summerfield, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Margaret Conklin, New Berlin, Donald Miller, New Lisbon, Ethel White, Stevesville, Mont., and Lewis Miller, Pittsfield; many nieces and nephews; as well as a special friend, Colleen Rogers.
She was predeceased by one daughter and one son, Beverly Barton in 1981 and Philip M. Chase in 2003; and one sister and one brother, Aleta Smith and Harley Miller.
Mildred retired from Kraft Foods of South Edmeston after 21 years of service. She also worked as a tour guide for Oneonta Bus Lines for 27 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of New Berlin.
Calling hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at the Dakin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin, with the Rev. Beverly Butler, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin, officiating.
Interment will be in the Hillington Cemetery, Morris.
Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church of New Berlin, N.Y., or the Chenango Area Hospice, Norwich, N.Y.
Maria-Anna Makuch
Maria-Anna Makuch, 72, formerly of Queens, died Saturday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2005, at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Born Sept. 5, 1933, in Gdzansk, Poland, she was a daughter of John and Sophia Bogusz.
During World War II she became an orphan when both parents and all her siblings were killed. At age 16, she immigrated to the United States and lived in Pittsburgh. She later moved to New York City and attended Columbia University where she received a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts.
Upon graduating from Columbia, she was employed at a bank in New York City. However, following the encouragement of one of her professors at Columbia, she pursued a career in fashion design in the New York City area, using her talents as a seamstress.
On Oct. 19, 1958, she married Richard Makuch in New York City and for many years they made their home in Sunnyside, Queens. Mrs. Makuch and her husband moved to Edmeston in November 2004 to be near their daughter.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard Makuch, of Edmeston; a daughter, Barbara Schneeberg and her husband, Kris, of Burlington Flats; a son, Richard S. Makuch and his wife, Angie, of Branson, Mo.; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, at St. Mary’s "Our Lady of the Lake" Catholic Church in Cooperstown with Fr. John P. Rosson, pastor, presiding. The Service of Committal and Burial will follow in Burlington Green Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
Franklin L. Grey
VERNON — Franklin Leonard Sr., 62, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005, at his residence.
Born in Oceanside, Mr. Grey grew up in Gardner, and had lived in Baton Rouge, La., before moving to Vernon in October.
He had served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Grey had been employed by Superior Products International in Baton Rouge, La., as a sales and marketing manager.
He was predeceased by his son, John Stewart Grey, in 1991.
Mr. Grey is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janet C., of Vernon; his son, Frank L. Grey Jr. of Charleston, S.C.; his daughter, Elizabeth Leiter and her husband, Scott, of Vernon; two brothers, John B. Grey of Michigan City, Ind., and Bruce R. Grey of Charleston, S.C.; and his granddaughter, Cora Mae Leiter.
Graveside memorial services will be at noon Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005, in Brunswick Rural Cemetery, 1166 Hoagerburgh Road, Wallkill, NY, 12589, with Pastor Rhonda Myers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made to the Karen Ann Quinlan Center of Hope Hospice, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860.

Susan Ina Uva

Barry Giltmore
ONEONTA — Barry Giltmore, 60, of Oneonta passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.
Barry was born the son of Murray and Celia Giltmore in the Bronx on May 10, 1945.
Barry worked as an assembler for the ARC.
He liked to say he was the world’s greatest "loyal to the ets" fan. He was an avid New York sports fan and depending on what sports season it was, he would be cheering on the Jets, Nets, and/or Mets.
He is survived by his many friends in Oneonta.

A funeral service to celebrate Barry’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at the funeral home with the Rev. Judith Thistle, A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.

A. David Millner
COOPERSTOWN — A. David Millner, a lawyer, died Nov. 7, 2005, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown. He was 85.
He was a former resident of South Orange and Mendham, N.J., and before that had lived in New York City. He had lived most recently at The Meadows/Otsego Manor in Cooperstown.
His law firm, Bowes & Millne, of Newark and Roseland, N.J., was a leading firm specializing in economic issues in the trucking and bus industries, and Mr. Millner was known for his honesty and integrity.
He was born July 2, 1920, in Chicago to Rabbi Isaac Aaron and Minnie (Gross) Millner. When he was 5 years old, his family moved to Staten Island, where his father was rabbi and later rabbi emeritus at Temple Emanu-El.
Mr. Millner was a graduate of Port Richmond High School and Hamilton College (class of 1941). After the war, he received an M.P.A. from the University of Cincinnati and an LL.B. from Columbia University Law School.
During World War II, he was a lieutenant in an ordnance battalion serving in the Battle of the Bulge.
After working as an attorney for the Interstate Commerce Commission, he and his partner, Edward F. Bowes, founded their firm in 1957. During the 1990s, Mr. Millner was of counsel to Friedman Siegelbaum in Roseland, N.J.
Mr. Millner was predeceased by his sister, Beatrice.
He is survived by his children, Robert, and his wife, Barbara Sepp, of Cherry Valley, and Elisabeth, and her husband, Joseph Cantelmo, of Bergenfield, N.J.; by three grandchildren, Alexander Millner of Chicago, Dakin Campbell of Astoria and Maggie Millner of Cherry Valley; and by a sister, Ruth, of Staten Island.
Funeral arrangements are by Menorah Chapels. A graveside service will be held at Baron Hirsch Cemetery in Staten Island at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2005.
