Raymond G. Becker

Raymond G. Becker Jr., 30, of 601 Mill Road, St. Johnsville, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002.

He was born Oct. 5, 1972 in Little Falls, the son of Raymond G. and Beverly (Harlow) Becker Sr. He was educated in Canajoharie High School, class of 1991. Ray lived most his life in the Canajoharie and St. Johnsville area.

His marriage to Polly Carter took place on July 21, 1995 in Buffalo, NY.
He was last employed at Asplundh Tree Expert Co. in Albany, and was a member of IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Union Local 1249,

Ray devoted his life to be a loving and caring husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his children fishing. He was a Rusty Wallace fan and an avid fan of NASCAR.

Survivors include his wife, Polly; his parents, Raymond and Beverly of Dolgeville; two sons, David and Ryan Becker at home; his paternal grandmother, Elnora Becker of Fort Plain; his maternal grandmother, Rosemary Harlow of Palatine Bridge; a brother, James Becker of Dolgeville; in-laws, Patricia and Roger Carter of St. Johnsville, Terry Carter of St. Johnsville and Paula Carter of Little Falls; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by a son, Ethan R. Becker; a brother, Michael A. Becker; his paternal grandfather, Ernest Becker and his maternal grandfather, Fred Harlow.

Friends and relatives may call at the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville on Saturday, December 21, 2002 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at Fitch Cemetery, town of Oppenheim. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), 1314 Bedford Ave., Suite 210, Baltimore, Maryland 21280.

LeRoy J. 'Bud' Lowell

Mr. LeRoy J. "Bud" Lowell, 76, of Water Street, Johnstown, died Wednesday at Albany Medical Center, following a long illness.

He was born April 4, 1926 in Saratoga Springs, the son of LeRoy J. and Edna Williams Lowell Sr.

Mr. Lowell was a WW II U.S. Army veteran.
He was a leather worker employed with the former Karg Brothers Tannery, Johnstown and retired from Simco Leather Corp. in 1988.

Survivors include his wife, Caroline Miner Lowell, whom he married December 9, 1955; two sons, John and his wife, Joy Lowell of Johnstown; Rick Lowell of Johnstown; one daughter, Donna Lowell of Johnstown; one brother, Henry Lowell of Gloversville; two sisters, Vivian Farrar of Gloversville, Edith Fancher of Brooksville, Fla.; three grandchildren, Lindsey Lowell, Joshua Lowell and Tim Miller; great-grandson, Hunter John Miller; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Johnstown with Rev. R.W. Williams officiating.

Friends and family may call on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Albany Medical Center Dialysis Unit.

Sandra A. Clemons

Mrs. Sandra A. Clemons, 58, of Johnstown, died Thursday afternoon at the Wilkinson Nursing Home, Amsterdam, after a long illness.

Born in Gloversville February 17, 1944, she was the daughter of Harold and Emeline Dingman VanAlstyne. She had worked at Bob's Taxidermy Shop in Johnstown and lastly was a self-employed home health aide. Mrs. Clemons was a member of the Gloversville Salvation Army. On February 12, 1961, she married Ronald L. Clemons Sr., who died in 1994. She is survived by five daughters, Tina Blacutt, Kim Clemons, Jenny Flansburg, Jeanett Snell and Veronica Clemons, all of Johnstown; two sons, Ronald Clemons Jr. and Ricki Clemons, both of Gloversville; four brothers, Skip VanAlstyne and Raymond VanAlstyne, both of Gloversville, Harold VanAlstyne of Northville and Charles VanAlstyne of Johnstown; 16 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street. Interment will be in Ferndale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gloversville Salvation Army.

Dorris Gene Richards Bolibaugh

Dorris Gene Richards Bolibaugh, 80, formerly of North Boulevard, Gloversville, died Saturday morning at the Nathan Littauer Nursing Home.

She was born in Urbana, IL, on Dec. 26, 1921, a daughter of Lee and Florence Courtney Richards, and graduated from Decatur High School in Illinois. Dorris served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II as a nurse, stationed in Washington, D.C.

She was employed as a dental hygienist in San Francisco until 1954. Later, she began pioneering and teaching the Bahai faith throughout Mali West Africa for two years. Dorris traveled to Tunisia, North Africa, and then to Paris, France, for the next 15 years. In 1976, she retired to Santa Paula, CA, where she resided until 1990, when she moved to New York to be closer to her family.
She was married to Jerry Bolibaugh in 1946.

Her survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Terry Lee and Kate Bolibaugh of Broadalbin; four grandsons, Jacques Richard of Santa Barbara, CA, Charles William and Jerry Alexander of Cary, N.C., and Daniel Robert of Broadalbin; three granddaughters, Jacqueline Mary, Mary Katherine and Caroline Lee, all of Broadalbin; and a spiritual daughter, Elizabeth LaBelle of Cary, N.C.

A graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, Inc., Broadalbin.

John J. Luciano

John J. Luciano, 69, of Benson Rd., Northville, died Saturday, November 30, 2002, at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken at home. Born May 28, 1933, in Fonda, he was the son of Jerome and Mary Zarrero Luciano.

Mr. Luciano was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Marine Corps from 1951 to 1954. He was employed as a construction worker for several years, last employed by Quay Construction of Schenectady, retiring in 1990.

Memberships included Local Labor Union 157 Schenectady and the VFW in Fonda. He also loved to hunt and fish and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Northville.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Finn Luciano, whom he married April 19, 1956; his mother, Mary Tamoliunas of Tribes Hill, N.Y.; and a sister, Anna LaVoie of Tribes Hill, N.Y.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis R.C. Church, Northville. Friends may call Tuesday, December 3, 2002, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St. Burial will be in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Fonda. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Stanley D. Nichols Sr.

Stanley D. Nichols Sr., 75, of 492 W. Main Street, Little Falls, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2002, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, where he had been a patient since November 13, 2002.

He was born on January 27, 1927, in the town of Salisbury, the son of the late Dwight and Catherine (Cardle) Nichols. He was educated in Stratford schools.

He was united in marriage to his wife of 53 years, the former Edna Loucks on January 31, 1948, at the United Methodist Church Parsonage, Dolgeville. Mrs. Nichols predeceased him on February 11, 2001.
Mr. Nichols was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. Entering the service on July 10, 1945, in Albany, he served as a medical technician at the White Sands Proving Grounds, New Mexico. He was honorably discharged as a technician fifth grade on December 1, 1946, at Ft. Bliss, TX.

He attended the First Baptist Church, Little Falls.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a friend to all. Mr. Nichols was employed in the maintenance department for the Mohawk Valley Paper Corp., Little Falls, for 38 years.

He is survived by two sons, Richard S. Nichols and his wife Shelia, Ft. Plain, and Stanley D. Nichols Jr. and Colleen Lynch, Little Falls; a brother, Norman Nichols, Little Falls; five grandchildren, Penny Sorel, Richard A. Nichols, Robert N. Nichols, Tanya Towne and Corie J. Nichols; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Courtina, Dalton, Jacob and Dusty Nichols, Ricky Sorel and Derrell Diffin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons, Roger A. Nichols, who died in 1955, and Robert N. Nichols, who died on March 22, 2001; a sister, Edna Perkins, who died in 1971; and a granddaughter, Catherine Mae Nichols, who died in 1975.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2002, at 10:00 a.m. from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, with Mr. Ronald Perkins of Michigan and nephew of Mr. Nichols officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.

Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 3, 2002, from 5 to 8 p.m. and to attend the funeral services Wednesday morning.

It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Nichols be considered to the charity of one's choice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home for this purpose.

Sylvia Paro

Sylvia Paro passed away Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Coral Gables, Florida.

She was born on October 19, 1913, in St. Johnsville, the daughter of the late Frank Soules and Margie Dillenbeck.

She is survived by her son, Bernard L. Paro of Coral Gables, Florida; one sister, Bertha Leate of Haverhill, Mass.; two granddaughters, Michelle Mc Givern of Johnstown, N.Y. and Genevieve Raneri of Utica, N.Y.; grandson, Joseph Raneri of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; five great grandchildren; cousins; many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her husband, Augustus Paro; daughter, Joan Paro Raneri; sisters, Gertrude Soules, Beatrice Soules, Hazel Walrath, Leona Dillenbeck; brother, Ira Soules.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville, with Rev. David L. Tressic, pastor, officiating. Interment will take place at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to charity of your choice. Arrangements are by the John W. Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville.

Caesar Rappa

Caesar Rappa, 78, formerly of the Utica area, died Sunday morning, Dec. 1, at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.

Born Nov. 3, 192, in Flat Creek, N.Y., the son of Peter and Anna Rappa. He attended Flat Creek schools.

He worked for Beech-Nut several years, then worked as a janitor for Mohawk Data, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, Fonda.

He is survived by one sister, Mary Ann Edick, and her husband, Jesse of Johnstown; two brothers, John Rappa of Fultonville and Salvatore "Sammy" Rappa and his wife, Bertha; uncle, Salvatore Zeke Rappa and aunt, Margaret Salamone; nieces and nephews, Jesse Edick and Janet of Clarksbrough, N.J., Nancy and Bret Collins of Tribes Hill, Dianna and John Graziano of Amherst, N.Y.; four great- nieces and six great-nephews.

A memorial Mass will be on Friday, Dec. 6, at St. Cecilia's Church, Fonda, at a time to be announced. Cremation will be in Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. There will be no calling hours. Cremains will be interred in Pine Grove Cemetery, Tribes Hill. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Johnstown.

Gerald W. Argersinger

Mr. Gerald W. Argersinger, 63, formerly of Carmichael Street, died Sunday afternoon at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, where he has resided for the past two years.

Born September 12, 1940, in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of Harry C. and Audrey H. Child Argersinger. He was a graduate of Wilbur H. Lunch High School.

Mr. Argersinger was first employed by Mohasco Industries of Amsterdam and later worked for Montgomery County as assistant deputy county clerk with Bill Albertin. He was employed as the manager of OTB in Amsterdam for twenty years, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Amsterdam United Methodist Church and the Montgomery County Republican Club.

Survivors include two brothers, Donald H. Argersinger and David R. Argersinger, both of Amsterdam; one sister, Diane Gutkowski of Hagaman, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his sister, Beverly Ford, who died August 11, 2002.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. Brian Gould officiating. Burial will take place in Maple Avenue Cemetery, Fultonville. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Edward L. Wilkinson R.H.C.F., 4988 Route 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010 or to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 11 Park Street, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Gertrude Erb Scott Gifford

Mrs. Gertrude Erb Scott Gifford, age 92, of Gloversville, died Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

She was born August 25, 1912 in Morehouseville, NY, the daughter of Conrad and Anna Klice Erb. She was employed as a glove maker by the Grandoe Corporation in Gloversville for many years, also by Walker LaRowe in Northville, Hollenbeck Gloves in Mayfield and last worked at Broadalbin Furniture Company.

Survivors include three children, Herbert W. Scott of Otego, Charles H. Scott and his wife Georgia of Gloversville and Dorothy M. Warner and her husband Bert of Mayfield; 9 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Arthur Erb, Ida Williams, Helen Van Allen, Fred Williams and Harry Williams.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Ernest Lee Warner; and also by nine brothers and sisters.

The funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. today at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. The Rev. Wayne E. Jones Sr. officiated. Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

Mary L. Jordan

Mrs. Mary L. Jordan, 70, of Gloversville, died Monday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. She was born November 17, 1934 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Raymond J. and Marion L. Tuttle Waffle. Mary was educated in Gloversville schools and was a homemaker. A very devoted family person, she took great joy in her children and family. She is survived by her husband, Albert H. Jordan, whom she married June 30, 1956 of Gloversville. Her children, Michael J. Jordan and his fiancée Kathleen of Gloversville, Debbie L. Stewart and her husband Joseph of Gloversville, Kelly A. Sawitzki and her husband John of Amsterdam, Jennifer J. Jordan and her companion Shawn of Gloversville, and Randy A. Jordan and his financée Laura of Gloversville. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Betty Chapman of Ft. Plain and Mrs. Shirley Handy of Gloversville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edith Miller of Pine, Arizona; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Waffle. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday 11 a.m. from the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, with Reverend Wayne Jones, pastor of Fremont Street United Methodist Church, officiating. There will be no public calling hours. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, N.Y. 12078 or to a charity of choice.

Terrence Frank Martin Sr.

Terrence Frank Martin Sr., 84, of Johnstown, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at home following a long illness. Born in Jersey City, N.J. He resided in Fairfield, New Jersey and moved to Johnstown in 1999. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1938 and 1939. He was a hospital engineer with Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern, N.Y. for 30 years and was a charter member of the American Association of Hospital Engineers. He retired in 1987.

He was Shaefer Fireman of the Year for the state of New Jersey for his work with the Exempt Fireman's Association. He was awarded several commendations for service in the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department which he was a member of for over 40 years.

He was predeceased by his sons, Terrence Martin Jr. and Robert Martin. Survivors include his beloved wife, Doris Martin, son, Russell Martin and his wife, Helen of Johnstown; daughters, Kathleen Martin of Johnstown, Sharon Hird and her husband Dannie of Modena, Nancy Hart and her husband, Charles of Johnstown and Beverly Baker and her husband Wayne of Cherry Valley. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Robert Martin, Timothy Martin, Cynda Fickert, Jacklyn Hird, Danielle Hird, Caitlin Hart, Lucas Hart, Kevin Baker, Brian Baker, Bradley Baker and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Bizub-Parker Funeral Parlor in Little Falls, N.J. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Totowa, N.J.

Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Nazarene in Johnstown or the Regional Animal Shelter.

Marne L. Blizzard

Marne L. Blizzard, 61, of West River Road, Wells died Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 at home following a long illness. She was born March 22, 1941 in Columbia, S.C., the daughter of Hoyt B. and Odie T. Tulton Shepard.

Mrs. Blizzard was a graduate of Henry Gratey High School in Atlanta, Ga. She was employed as a computer tech for Spencer gifts in Atlantic City, N.J. She was a volunteer at the Wells library and a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wells.

Survivors include her husband, Gary M. Blizzard Sr., whom she married Oct. 30, 1972. One son, Charles Thurston and his wife, Danielle, of Mastic Long Island and one stepson, Gary M. Blizzard Jr. of Wells. Her mother, Odie Shepard, of Lawrenceville, Ga. One brother, John E. Shepard of Lawrenceville, Ga. Her father-in-law and mother-in-law Hank and Jane Blizzard of Wells. Two grandchildren also survive her, Alyssa Thurston of St. Mary's, Ga. and Gary M. Blizzard III of Wells.
Friends may call 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, 2002 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Wells, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. with Father Paul Kelly as celebrant. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Wells Library or Mountain Valley Hospice.

Ronald 'Ron' Bates Jr.

Ronald "Ron" Bates Jr., 29, Carmichael Street, died Monday at his home after a long illness.

Born May 14, 1975, in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of Ronald and Krystale Fischer Bates Sr. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School and lived in Fort Johnson for a few years.

Ron was employed by Breton Industries of Amsterdam and later worked as a fork lift operator for Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Johnstown, NY, retiring in 2002 due to ill health.
He was married on August 19, 2000 to the former Crystal Lyons.

Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Derek and Walter Bates at home; a daughter, Teresa Bates at home; his parents, Ronald Bates Sr. of Gloversville and Krystale Fischer Bates of Amsterdam; a brother, Brian Bates of Gloversville; three sisters, Margaret Bates, Karen Dingman and Brandy Bates, all of Gloversville; a grandmother in Johnstown; a grandfather in Caroga Lake; two nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

A Candle Legacy Ceremony will be held on Thursday at 12 noon at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. Cremation will take place in Vale Crematory in Schenectady. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ron's memory for an education fund to be set up for his children. Please contact the funeral home for memorial information.

Scott T. Rorick

Mr. Scott T. Rorick, 43, of Johnstown, died Friday, December 17, 2004 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville after a long illness.

He was born October 1, 1961 in Gloversville.

Scott was a graduate of Gloversville High School.
He was a member of the Fulton County Antique Car Club.

Mr. Rorick was employed as a New York State Corrections Officer until his retirement due to disability.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Hay Rorick, whom he married September 19, 1998; one daughter, Haleigh Rorick of Johnstown; one stepdaughter, Melanie Szypula of Gloversville; one stepson, William Durland of Johnstown; two brothers, William J. Rorick of Glen and Todd M. Rorick of Green Island; two sisters, Brenda L. Warner of Canajoharie and Marie L. Rorick of Ft. Plain; his mother, Joan Morrison MacDougall of Canajoharie; three step-granddaughters; nieces; nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, William Joseph Rorick.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no calling hours.

Cremation was at Vale Crematory, Schenectady.

Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.

Everett J. Loucks Sr.

Everett J. Loucks Sr., 90, of Washington St., Gloversville, died Sunday, December 22, 2002 at the Nathan Littauer Hospital after a short illness.

Born Oct. 5, 1912, in Mankill, NY, Schoharie County, he was the son of Aldeburt and Mary Simmons Loucks.

Mr. Loucks was employed by the Curtin-Hebert Co. Inc. machine shop of Gloversville as a machinist, retiring in 1970. He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include his wife, the former Leona Abbott, whom he married in 1944; five sons, LeRoy R. Loucks of Johnstown, John L. Loucks of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Everett J. Loucks, Burt C. Loucks and William K. Loucks, all of Gloversville; seven daughters, Sylvia F. Lightcap of Corinth, NY, Priscilla J. Blood, Elaine D. Loucks, Inza M. O'Connor and Rhoda L. Klingbeil, all of Gloversville, Dorothy A. Dingman and Dorothea A. Jump of Caroga Lake; 35 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by six brothers and nine sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave. Cremation at Park View Crematory, Schenectady. The family will receive friends today from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Albany, NY 12211.

Mary C. Older

Mary C. Older, 96, of Gloversville, a former Delaware County resident, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness. Born Nov. 5, 1908, in Kildare, Ireland, she was a daughter of the late William and Eva Fagan Ryan. She came to the United States at the age of 24 and settled in New York City. She moved to Delaware County in 1953 and lived in Glenolden, then Springfield, before returning to New York 10 years ago.

She was employed for more than 30 years in the medical records department of Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital. Mrs. Older was a member of Prepetal Church in Morton.

Surviving are sons, Theodore D. Older of Gloversville, NY, and John W. Older of Springfield, PA; a sister, Hilda Morton of Cooperstown, NY; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Older, in 1969; 3 brothers; and 1 sister. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, in Mortan, PA. Interment was in Saint Peter & Paul Cemetery in Springfield, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to The Extended Care Facility at Nathan Littauer Hospital, 99 E. State St., Gloversville, NY 12078. Local arrangements are by the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, Johnstown.
