Rose DiGiacomo

Rose DiGiacomo, 77, of Lexington Mountain View II, died Monday morning at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness. Born in Gloversville December 7, 1927, the daughter of James and Nini DiGiacomo. She worked at the Day Treatment Center, where she resided at Lexington since 1979. Rose was of the Catholic faith. Survived by her aunt, Phyllis Chiariello of Gloversville; and several cousins. She was predeceased by a brother, Louis DiGiacomo. There will be no visitation hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt Carmel Church. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Marguerite Wille Edwards

Mrs. Marguerite Wille Edwards, age 92, of Johnstown, passed away Monday, May 2, 2005 at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.

She was born March 7, 1913 in Gloversville, the daughter of Peter and Emma Wille. She worked in various glove shops in the area as a machine operator.

Mrs. Edwards was a member of Women of the Moose No. 149, Gloversville. She loved playing cards, bowling, sewing and shopping.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Pickering and Carol Lowery of Johnstown; a granddaughter, Vicki Fuller; three grandsons, Tim, Tom and Dennis Fisher; six great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Carly, Jeffrey, Haley, Hannah and Justin; two great-great-grandchildren, Jared and Brianna; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Carrie Bradt, Maggie Cosselman, Peter Wille, Bert Wille and George Wille.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert W. Busch officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville, NY, 12211, or the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY, 12205.

James B. Earley

James B. Earley, 70, of Peaceful Valley Rd., North Creek, formerly of Wells, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2005, at his home following a long illness.

Born May 2, 1934, he was a son of the late James and Nellie (Savage) Earley.

Jim was employed by Barton Mines Corp. of North River as a truck driver for several years before his retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching. He was a member of the North Creek American Baptist Church.

Jim was predeceased by his close companion, Irma Myers, in March of 2001; his brothers, Chester and George; and sisters, Gladys, Margaret and Alice.

Survivors include his son, James P. Earley of Boston, MA; two daughters, Jodi B. Coonrod and husband, Donald, of Schenectady and Laura Bean and husband, James, of Dover Plains; six grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Howard, Clay and Harold Earley; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours scheduled.

Burial will take place at Edinburg Cemetery, Edinburg.

Contributions may be made in Jim's memory to High Peaks Hospice, 286 Glen St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.

Arrangements are under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home Inc., North River.

Kathryn Weingart Thomas

Mrs. Kathryn Weingart Thomas, 86, of 115 Kingsboro Ave., Gloversville, died peacefully Friday, May 6, at the Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home in Gloversville.

Mrs. Thomas was born August 13, 1918 in New Brunswick, New Jersey, the daughter of Christian Francis Weingart and Debianita Marie O'Connor. She was the valedictorian of the class of 1937 of St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick and attended The College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, NJ.

Mrs. Thomas was married October 19, 1941 to her husband Drew J. Thomas, who died June 9, 1999. During the early years of their marriage, Mr. Thomas' Naval career brought his family to several ports, including Norfolk, VA, Elizabeth City, NC and Portsmouth, VA. Mrs. Thomas was recognized with an award from President Harry S. Truman for her service at that time to the Draft Board.
Mrs. Thomas will be remembered as a woman who was devoted to her family and her community. She was a past president of the Parent-Teacher Associations at the Parsons School in North Brunswick, NJ, Columbia School in Gloversville and the Gloversville Central Council.

While in New Jersey, Mrs. Thomas served as a substitute teacher at the Parsons School, Secretary for the Community Welfare Council, Director of the Teenage Social Recreation Program, Secretary of the North Brunswick Recreation Commission and was Program Director for the Neighborhood House for Children.

Once she moved to Gloversville in 1952, Mrs. Thomas continued her community activism. She was an incorporator of and secretary for SPRING, the Society to Promote Revitalization in Gloversville. She chaired various committees associated with development programs, including serving as chair for the Gloversville Transportation Commission, and serving as the Vice President of the Fulton County Children's Committee. She was a volunteer for the Nathan Littauer Auxiliary. She was also a former member of the Pine Brook Golf Club, and was secretary of their women's division.

Mrs. Thomas was recognized for her many years of selfless community service with a grant of Life Membership in the Parent Teachers Association, and awards from the City of Gloversville and SPRING for her service.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Thomas Handron, MD and her husband David G. Handron, MD of Gloversville; and two grandchildren, Kathryn Handron Bruckner and her husband, John H. of Midlothian, VA and David G. Handron Jr. PhD and his wife Kerry of Pittsburgh, PA; and four great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Alex Bruckner and David and Ryan Handron also survive, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Francis Weingart and sisters, Margaret Weingart and Loretta Bowlby.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, May 11, at 10 a.m. with the Very Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating. Burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Johnstown will take place at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Thomas' honor are requested for the Nathan Littauer Hospital and Nursing Home or the charity of your choice.

Thomas C. Van Skiver

Thomas C. Van Skiver, 64, of Holiday, FL, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Hernando-Pasco Hospice in New Port Richey, FL. He was the son of Claude and Jennie Scafariello Van Skiver. He moved to Fla 18 years ago. He owned Tommy Maintenance. Survivors include his wife, Marian Hinkle; a daughter, Jeannine Spraker; three stepsons; a brother, Frank; and seven grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held for family and friends at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel on June 23, at 7:00 pm.

Rachel F. Joslyn

Rachel F. Joslyn, 103, formerly of Fifth Avenue, Gloversville, died Wednesday, February 18, 2004 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home following a long illness. She was born November 23, 1900 in Northville, NY, the daughter of Miles and Ellen Abbott Frasier.

She attended Northville schools and was the owner and operator of her own cosmetic factory in San Francisco, CA for many years. She returned to Gloversville in 1970. She was married to William Joslyn, who died in 1969.

Survivors include her sister, Mrs. Doris Biron of Johnstown, NY. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends may call Saturday, June 12, 2004 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, where a funeral will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Entombment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville.

Robert James O'Neill

Robert James O'Neill, 58, of Pumpkin Hollow Road, Wells, died suddenly May 4, 2005. He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., the son of Robert O'Neill of Schenectady and the late Angela Molloy O'Neill.

Bob was a graduate of Bishop Gibbons High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He was a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran. He worked as a police officer for the city of Schenectady for over 20 years. He was also a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Besides his father, he is survived also by his wife, Joan (Raymond) O'Neill whom he married on July 29, 1971; three children, Timothy P. O'Neill, Erin Marie O'Neill and Megan A. O'Neill, all of Wells, N.Y.; a sister, Lou-Ann Marshall and husband Jeffrey of Rotterdam; and a grandchild, Brooke.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Avenue, Schenectady, N.Y. Monday evening, May 9, 2005, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment with full military honors will be held in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y.

Robert J. Mogensen

Robert J. Mogensen, 26, of Gloversville, N.Y., died May 29. Sgt. 1st Class Mogensen was serving as a U.S. Army special operations command soldier in Afghanistan when his vehicle hit an explosive device, killing him and three others.

A native of Gloversville, Mogensen enlisted in the Army in 1995 and served in a number of Special Forces assignments with the 3rd Special Forces group. Robert received many awards, which include two Purple Heart awards, the Ranger tab, the Special Forces tab and many others.

Mogensen is survived by his wife, Tanya, and three children of Pinebluff, N.C.; his mother, Roxanne Mogensen of Gloversville; his father, William Mogensen of Colorado; three brothers, Matthew of Mayfield, John of Charlotte, N.C., and Daniel of Gloversville; and a sister, Kayla, of Gloversville. He is survived by paternal grandparents, Donald and Elizabeth Belfance of Gloversville and William and Ona Mogensen of Ilion, N.Y., in addition to many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service was held June 7 at Fort Bragg, N.C. The funeral and burial will be held on June 15 at Arlington National Cemetery. A local memorial gathering is yet to be announced.

Helen O'Brien Sherwood

Helen O'Brien Sherwood, 91, formerly of St. Hwy. 30A, Johnstown, died Friday, June 4, at Shalom Place Nursing Home, Denton, TX after a long illness.

Born Oct. 29, 1913 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Frank and Clara Belle Tank Allis. She attended Syracuse schools.

Mrs. Sherwood worked as a secretary for Johnstown Tanning and Fulton County Girl Scout Office in Gloversville. She also owned and operated with her late husband, Clement Standish Sherwood Tolgate Tractor Co., Johnstown.
She was of the Catholic faith. She was a former member of St. Mary's School PTA and a Gloversville Girl Scout leader.

She was married to the late Clement Standish Sherwood on April 25, 1965 and he died January 6, 1997.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon P. Jackson of Trophy Club, TX; three grandchildren, Michael Jackson (Pam), Kristine Ferris (Dan) and Rebecca Jackson; two great-grandsons, Michael and Joseph Ferris; two great granddaughters, Deanna and Marissa Ferris. She was predeceased by her great grandson Daniel Ferris.

Funeral will be on Saturday at 12 noon at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home. Deacon Richard Solar of Holy Trinity Parish will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Ave. Cemetery, Fultonville. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Valley Hospice or JAVAC or a charity of one's choice.

Chad D. Auwater

Chad D. Auwater, age 31, formerly of Gloversville, NY, died Monday, June 7, 2004, in Ocala, FL, where he has resided the past two years.

He was born August 5, 1972, in Gloversville, the son of Bruce and Theresa Rowles Auwater. A graduate of Mayfield High School, he was a self-employed computer on-line service provider.

Chad is survived by his mother, Theresa M. Paddock of Gloversville; his father, Bruce J. Auwater of Mayfield; a brother and sister, Brandon H. Paddock and Mindy S. Paddock of Gloversville; his maternal grandparents, Ernest and Sara Rowles of Clearfield, PA; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Rosalind D. Clark

Mrs. Rosalind D. Clark, widow of Donald J. Clark, and former resident for 53 years of Meriden, Conn., passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2004, in Alexandria, Va., where she had been living since 2001.

Born Mary Rosalind Duffy in Watertown, NY, Mrs. Clark received a B.A. from the College of New Rochelle and was a graduate of Katy Gibbs School in New York City. She moved to Meriden with her husband at 53 Broadview Terrace. Throughout the 1960s, '70s and '80s, Mrs. Clark was active in the Meriden College Club branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), serving as president, secretary, ways and means chairman and treasurer and as chairman in charge of the establishment of the Educational Trust Fund of the College Club of Meriden. She also served for three years as a member of the State Board of AAUW. In recognition of her service to AAUW, she was honored with the creation of a $500 fellowship awarded in her name. Mrs. Clark was active in community affairs as a member of the Community Action Board and as a member of the advisory committee for a new Meriden library. In 1965, Mrs. Clark was instrumental in the creation of a downtown site for the Meriden Library and also served a three-year term on the library board in the early 1970s.

Among her proudest achievements was the recognition she received, both in Connecticut and nationally, for her poetry. Beginning in 1957, Mrs. Clark wrote hundreds of poems that focused on the most favored elements of her life - family, nature and travel. In 1975, her poems were compiled into a volume titled "Enter Any Door," taken from her national award-winning poem "To a Berber Woman."
Survivors include her four children, Kathleen Hemmens of East Hardwick, Vermont; George Clark of Raymond, Maine; Donald J. Clark Jr. of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Joanne Clark of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, William Duffy of Cortland, NY; six grandchildren, Kirsten and Sean Clark, Isabella Giulia Clark, Katherine Knox Vanden Bergh, Timothy Knox and Rebecca Knox Rice. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2004, at 10:45 a.m. from the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main Street, Meriden, and at 11:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center Street, Meriden. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, 250 Gypsy Lane, Meriden. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, June 11, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Ruth E. Herdman

Ruth E. Herdman, 80, of Second Avenue, Mayfield, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at her daughter's home after a long illness. She was born January 16, 1924, in Northville, NY, the daughter of the late Clyde and Effie Parker Richardson. She was a graduate of Mayfield High School and was a homemaker and glove maker for many years. She also operated a ceramic shop in her home for many years.

Ruth was a lifetime area resident and a member of the Mayfield United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Richard F. Herdman of Mayfield; her daughter, Barbara, and her husband, Keith Cramer of Northville; one brother, Harold Richardson of Mayfield; one sister, Gertrude Patterson of Corry, PA; and one granddaughter, Sadie Cramer of Northville. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. She was predeceased by her brother, Gerald Richardson; and two sisters, Irene Van Nostrand and Evelyn Flood.
Friends may call on Friday, June 11, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2004, at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. David Newkirk officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mayfield United Methodist Church or the Mayfield Serviceman's Club.

Gary W. (Rebel) Maines

Gary W. (Rebel) Maines, age 57, of Gloversville, died Wednesday at his home after he fought a valiant battle with his illness. Born September 28, 1946, in Renovo, Pa., he was the son of Thomas Q. and Reba Miller Maines. He graduated from Renovo High School in Pennsylvania and later attended Penn State University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1966 as a med specialist and an expert carbine.

He was a welder and pipe fitter journeyman for the plumber/steam fitters Local 773 of Gloversville.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 701, a 35-year member of the United Assn. of Journeymen and Apprentices of Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry in the U.S. and Canada.
He is survived by one son, Daniel P. Maines of Gloversville; 2 sisters, Judy and Carl Swartz and Kim and Michael Lehr, both of Pa.; 2 brothers, Douglas and Missy Maines and Steve Miller, both of Pa.; 2 grandchildren, Christina and Shadow Maines; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his soul mate in his heart, Michele Warren of Gloversville; his long-time friend and companion, Lou Warren of Gloversville, and his loving and faithful companion, Shadow, his German shepherd.

He was predeceased by his stepfather, John W. Miller, and a son, Gary John Maines.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Memorial donations can be made to the SPCA of Broadalbin or the Mountain Valley Hospice.

Lyman Robert Avery

Lyman Robert Avery, age 62, of Gloversville, left us on May 30, 2004 after a courageous battle of several years and is now at peace. Born February 15, 1942, he was the son of Robert W. Avery of Arietta and the late Audrey (McCarthy) Avery. He was also the stepson of Alma (Oathout) Avery.

Lyman is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Karen (Soodsma) Avery. He had two children, a son, the late Lyman "Rob" Avery and a daughter, Lori of Johnstown. He has one grandson, Colin Avery Lombardoni and son-in-law, Dan Lombardoni. He is also survived by his father and stepmother, as well as three brothers, Bart, R. John and M. Gary Avery, all of Gloversville; and two sisters, Connie Avery of Gloversville and Gail (Avery) Holmes of Stevens, Pennsylvania. Other survivors include three stepbrothers, Jim Oathout of Broadalbin, John Oathout of Mayfield and David Oathout of Canada Lake; and one stepsister, Darla Oathout of Arietta, as well as aunts, uncles, many cousins, nieces and nephews in NY, PA, FL and CA.

Lyman acquired his love for animals and nature in the mountains of Arietta, where he spent his childhood hunting and fishing. He attended the Wheelerville Elementary School as a youth. After the family moved to Gloversville in 1952, he attended Estee and was graduated from Gloversville High School in 1959.
As a prominent, successful businessman, he owned and managed Avery's Fish Hatchery, Avery Blacktop Sealing and Avery's Trees. He was especially proud of the thousands of beautiful Christmas trees raised and several properties in the area.

Lyman had given himself in many ways. He, for several years (as Santa), had spent Christmas Eves delivering gifts to needy children. In recent years, he was the surrogate grandfather, especially to a devoted young man, William "Bubba" Howard of Gloversville. Lyman served in many organizations including the board of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, and was a member of the Fulton County Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club. He was supportive of various animal shelters, the Salvation Army and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a private service will take place Thursday at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Sandra Geer officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 440 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 or the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Albany, NY 12211 or the Regional Animal Shelter, PO Box 1274, Gloversville, NY 12078.

Ralph (Harry) Clark, 87, of Erie Street, died peacefully at home on Saturday, May 29, 2004 after a long illness. Born in Schaghticoke, NY, he was the son of the late George and Ethel Clark. Harry had served with the Civilian Conservation Corps on the West Coast and later served with the Army during WW II. He worked for the government at General Services Administration in Scotia for over 35 years, retiring in 1978 as a custodial foreman. He was a former member of the Rotterdam Junction Volunteer Fire Department. He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia M. Wood Clark in 1978; and a son, Wayne Gresham; and two grandchildren, Wendy and Mindy Clark; two brothers, Robert Clark and Donald Clark; and two sisters, Ruth Bohlke and Cornelia Porath. Survivors include two children, Sandra J. Clark of Gloversville and Mark C. Clark of Rotterdam; a brother, William Clark of Schenectady; a sister, Dorothy Gresham; a grandson, Mark S. Clark of Schenectady; dear friends, Judith and Carlie Slatzman, Jennifer, Alan and Hadley Boyce, all of Rotterdam Junction; and his canine companion, Sara. A graveside funeral service will be held at Viewland Cemetery, Rotterdam on Friday morning at 11 a.m. with military honors. At Harry's request, there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Bond Funeral Home, Schenectady, NY.

Floyd E. Miller

Floyd E. Miller, 67, of Johnstown, passed away at his home on May 30. Born in Amsterdam on May 25, 1937, he was the son of Floyd M. and Emma Jean Davis Miller. He was educated in Gloversville and was employed for Wood & Hyde of Gloversville for over 30 yrs., retiring in 1999.

He is survived by his mother, Emma Jean Miller; four children, Floyd E. Miller Jr. of Fla., Kimberly Gallup and her husband Kenneth of Fonda, Todd Miller of Illinois and Melissa Koptis and her husband Jodie of Washington; three grandchildren, Kenneth Jr., Kirk and Keaton; two brothers, Wayne Miller of Arz. and David Miller of Caroga Lake; two sisters, Kathy Miller of Deerfield, Virg. and Claudia Darling of Caroga Lake; two stepchildren, Teresa Pelletier and Michael Quillan; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife, Patsy; and his father, Floyd M. Miller.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. on Thursday with the Rev. Wayne E. Jones Jr. officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Assn.

Agnes E. Kinowski

Agnes E. Kinowski, 81, of Fowler Street, passed away Thursday afternoon at her home.

Born in Amsterdam on Nov. 4, 1922, a daughter of Harry and Ann Dynes Tolson, she lived here all her life. Agnes was a 1941 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School and in later years, attended Fulton Montgomery Community College.

She was married to Edward J. Kinowski on July 17, 1943. In 1956, she and Ed started the Kinowski Insurance Agency in Amsterdam. Following their retirement in 1973, the business continued under the direction of her family. A very compassionate woman, Agnes was always there for those who needed her. Ed was her passion, her children her joy and laughter her gift. An active communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Aggie found the time to volunteer at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
Her loving family includes her husband of nearly sixty-one years; Edward J. Kinowski; her daughters: Linda and her husband Thom Angelo of Temple, AZ; Cynthia Rinehimer of Ft. Johnson; her sons: Michael and his wife Pamela Kinowski of Johnstown, Arthur Kinowski and his wife Patricia of Hagaman; Edward D. Kinowski and his wife Kathleen of Saratoga Lake; Christpher Kinowski and his wife Lisa of Amsterdam and Daniel Kinowski of Amsterdam; her brother: Edward Tolson of Amsterdam; her sisters: Dorothy Dixon of California and Beatrice Sweet of Broadalbin; 14 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services to celebrate Agnes' life will be held on Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Avenue, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, East Main Street. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish to remember Agnes may make a contribution in her memory to the Hagaman Volunteer Fire Dept., 126 So. Pawling St. Hagaman, NY 12086.

Catherine S. Avery

Catherine S. Avery, 98, formerly of Arietta, N.Y., died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation Nursing Center after a Long Illness.

She was born May 28, 1906 in Gloversville, the daughter of John and Alma Fisher. She attended Gloversville Schools. Her beloved husband Lyman A. Avery, whom she married in 1938, died February 17, 1981.

They owned and operated several hotels and businesses in the area, including Wells Hotel and most recently Avery's Hotel in Arietta. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Francis De Sales and the St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church.
She is survived by a step son, Robert Avery of Arietta. A special nephew Edward H. Scharpou Sr. of Arietta and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers; Burt, William, Samuel and James Fisher; three sisters, Hattie Robar, Mary Fisher Abel and Francis Fisher Weaver; and step children Milton and Bartel Avery and Helen Newman.
