Roscoe N. Robinson Jr.

Mr. Roscoe N. Robinson Jr., 73, of Carlisle Rd., Sprakers, NY, died on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY following a long illness.

He was born in Rutland, Vermont on July 12, 1930, the son of Roscoe N. Robinson Sr. and Mary Regula Robinson. Mr. Robinson attended Hadley Luzerne Central School and Corinth High School.

Mr. Robinson was most recently employed as a mill right riger for General Electric in Schenectady, NY, until his retirement. Prior to that, he was employed by the International Paper Company in Corinth, NY.
He was a local area resident for 53 years and previously resided in Stoney Creek, NY.

Mr. Robinson served in the U.S. Army as a MP. His duties included honor guard for President Truman and serving as a guard for the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

He was of Catholic faith and was a former alter boy at his family's parish. Mr. Robinson enjoyed singing and playing guitar in many bands including the Country Gentleman.

He was married on February 13, 1950 in Stoney Creek, NY, to Victoria M. Walker Robinson. The couple just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past year.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Norman, Leon and Edward Robinson.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria Robinson of the town of Root, NY; four sons, Roscoe Lee Robinson of Howes Cave, NY, Douglas Stanley Robinson of Amsterdam, NY, Lewis Nelson Robinson of Schoharie, NY and Craig Robinson of the town of Root; two daughters, Carol Ann Robinson of the town of Root, NY and Marilyn Dzikas of Bradenton, FL; one sister, Lorraine Rezetta of Rioziska, CA; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A 1:00 p.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at the chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Fr. Gulley officiating. Burial will be in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at the funeral home.

Richard A. Sanges
Monday, June 07, 2004
Mr. Richard A. Sanges, 42, of Prindle Avenue, Johnstown, N.Y., passed away Saturday, June 5, at his home after a long illness. He was born May 13, 1962 in Gloversville, the son of Alfred and Shirley Beyer Sanges. He attended Gloversville schools and was employed as a press operator for Wood & Hyde for 12 years. Mr. Sanges was also a self-employed carpenter and he enjoyed collecting antiques and refinishing furniture. He was an artist who worked in several mediums and collected cars. Mr. Sanges was devoted to his children and their activities. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church.

Mr. Sanges is survived by his wife, the former Lisa Piazza, whom he married on May 7, 1988, a daughter, Felicia Sanges and two sons, Zachary Sanges and Dawson Sanges, all of Johnstown. He is survived by his parents, Alfred and Shirley Sanges; a brother, James Sanges and a sister, Deborah McCann and her husband Wayne, all of Gloversville. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Ehle Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Valley Hospice.

Alvin V. Hichens Jr.

Alvin V. Hichens Jr., 53, of Gloversville, NY, died Monday at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. Born October 22, 1950 in Amsterdam. He was the son of Alvin V. and Edith Saul Hichens Sr. He graduated from the Perth School System and lived in Gloversville for over 20 years.

Hichens served in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years and was a self-employed farmer and general contractor in the Fulton County area for most of his life. He was a member of the Currytown Reformed Church of Currytown, NY.

Mr. Hichens is survived by his parents, Alvin and Edith Hichens Sr. of Johnstown; one son, Alvin V. Hichens III and his wife Audrey of Gloversville; one daughter, Alicia V. Hichens of Gloversville; two brothers, Brian Hichens and his wife Lynn of Florida and William Keith Hichens and his wife Mary of Gloversville; two sisters, Carol Rybalka and her husband, Victor of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Joyce Fonda and her husband Mike of Fultonville, NY; stepdaughter, Renee´ Broadwell; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; his loving companion, Jackie Nash of Gloversville; and her children, Clyde Lawton, Janet Sweet, Becky Lawton, Darcy Lawton and Tammy Lawton.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. with the Rev. Joyce Jennings officiating. Interment will take place at the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Future Farmers of America. Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home.

Julia A. Van Allen

Julia A. Van Allen, 90, formerly of State Highway 30, Gloversville, died Sunday evening June 6, 2004 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, where she had resided for the past eight years.

She was born in Mayfield on February 18, 1914, a daughter of Franklin C. and Myrtle Aldrich Lathrop and was educated in local schools. Julia was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Van Allen was employed as a glove maker for several local companies. She worked at the former A.B. Goossen Company in Gloversville for 15 years, retiring due to ill health in 1973.
Mrs. Van Allen served on the committee to purchase the District 4 schoolhouse in 1948 at Mayfield Center, which would later become the Mayfield Center Community Church. Along with her late husband, Julia assisted in the building of the church. She was a trustee since its beginning, taught Sunday school kindergarten and was the treasurer. Mrs. Van Allen was a member of the committee that would acquire land for the building of the Mayfield Elementary School which began in 1957 and opened in 1959. In the early 1960s, she took flying lessons at the Fulco Airport and flew an Aeronica and World War II biplane. Mrs. Van Allen assisted the Mayfield Historical Society in locating at Nine Mile Tree Road and helped at its dedication for the bicentennial in 1976.

She enjoyed reading, gardening, oil painting, cooking, baking, sewing, canning and freezing.

She was married to Fred Van Allen on March 25, 1933. He died March 12, 1998. She was predeceased by her siblings, Viola Hayle, Grace Hickok, Edward Lathrop, Percy Lathrop, Florence Wands and Edna Wilson.

Survivors include two daughters, Harriett M. Ballou of Gloversville and Sylvia Van Volkenburg of Rosebud, S.D.; a sister, Clara Belle Rossman of Sanford, Fl.; three grandchildren, Karen Ballou, William Van Volkenburg and Frank Ballou Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Josh Ballou, Frankie Lee Ballou and Sean Rizzo; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 West Main Street, Broadalbin with the Rev. Doug Blanc officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Friends of the Mayfield Library or to the Mayfield Center Community Church, both in care of the funeral home.

Patricia Ann Benton

Patricia Ann Benton, 56, of Flat Creek Rd., Sprakers, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Little Falls, NY on February 14, 1948, a daughter of Gilbert and Lillian Diehl Fish. She was a resident of Canajoharie, NY and was a graduate of Canajoharie High School. She went on to receive her bachelor of arts degree from the University of New Paltz. She also continued her education later at the State University at Albany. She was first employed as a teacher in Edinburg, NY.

Ms. Benton was the owner and operator of her business, Smiles Unlimited Data Processing in Canajoharie, NY. She did various bookkeeping and record keeping tasks for many businesses in the area for over 21 years.
She was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Northville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau.

Survivors include her mother, Lillian Fish of Sprakers, NY; a special aunt, Eleanor Diehl of Sprakers. Other aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Currytown Reformed Church, County Route 162, Sprakers, NY with the Rev. Joyce Jennings presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of the Jackson and Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 North Main St., Gloversville, NY 12078 or to the Canajoharie Volunteer Ambulance Corps, c/o the funeral home.

Eleanor Raes DeNure Clevenger

Eleanor Raes DeNure Clevenger, 83, passed away May 27, 2004 in Ft. Myers, Fl. She was born in Schenectady, NY; graduated from Oneonta State College and taught elementary school in Meco and Broadalbin, NY. She was co-owner of the DeNure Coffee Shop in Broadalbin. Eleanor was also a part-time resident of Colony Cove in Ellenton, Fl. for 30 years.

Her son, Donald DeNure of Westland, MI; sister and brother-in-law, Leola and Richard Trevett of Ft. Myers, FL; daughter-in-law, Barbara of Broadalbin; and granddaughter, Danielle of Amsterdam; and several nieces and nephews survive Eleanor.

Her son, Daniel; and husbands Farren DeNure and John Clevenger predeceased Eleanor.
A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Broadalbin, NY on Tuesday, June 15, at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Broadalbin, NY 12025.

Faith M. Knight

Faith M. Knight, 88, of 3438 W. Villa Ridge, Peoria, IL, died at 7:12 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2004 at VA Hospital in Danville, IL from natural cause.

She was born Nov. 3, 1915 in Gloversville, New York, the daughter of Harry B. Carr and Catherine F. McCormick.

She was married to C.W. "Bud" Knight on Dec. 18, 1948 in Gloversville, N.Y., who survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Chris (John) Knight-Hubacek of Berwin, Il.; two sisters, Mary V. Carr and Hope B. Ruller, both of Gloversville, N.Y.; one brother, John E. Carr of Peoria, Il. She was preceded in death by her parents; and nine brothers and sisters.

She was a nurse and taught at the school of nursing at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

A WW II Navy veteran, she was a Lt. Commander stationed in the South Pacific.

She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, life member of Spring Bay American Legion Post 1125. She graduated from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Amsterdam, NY. Later she attended Columbia University in N.Y., then after that she attended Bradley University in Peoria, She was a member of the American Poetry Society and a 50 year member of the Martha Jefferson Democratic Club.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial Mass will be held at her church at a later date. Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria. Memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice.

Richard L. Fosmire Sr.

Richard L. Fosmire Sr., 62, of Fremont St., Gloversville, died Thursday, January 29, 2004, at home following a long illness.

Mr. Fosmire was born on September 21, 1941, in Queens, NY, the son of Edward and Marie Pearard Fosmire, and had been employed as a custodian by the city of Gloversville.

He enjoyed playing music and singing and had played guitar in a local country music band. He had a great love for his birds and his cat, Lucky.
Mr. Fosmire was married to Sharon Rose Cheney, who survives him. He is also survived by his sons, Richard L. Fosmire Jr. and his wife, Marie of Charleston, William R. Fosmire and his wife Rachael of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Kathy L. LaPort and her husband James of Edinburg, Annette M. Frey and her husband Ron of Phoenix, AZ, Stephanie L. Mera and her husband Antonio of Mayfield; brothers, Edward P. Fosmire of Washington, Eugene Fosmire of NJ, Robert Fosmire of NJ, Donald Fosmire of OR, George Fosmire of Argyle, NY; sister, Karen Smith of Florida; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 4 p.m. Saturday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Wayne E. Jones Sr. of Fremont St. United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.

Margaret Catherine Behan Campchero

Margaret Catherine Behan Campchero, 82, of Schenectady, NY, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, January 26, 2006.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert E.; her children, Barbara Ellen Hemstreet (James), Robert J. (Cathleen), Nancy Ann Bergmann (Kurt) and Margaret Elizabeth Whitney (Frederick); her sisters, Frances Behan Moffett and Sarah Behan Cook Mitchell; her brother, Daniel Michael Behan Jr.; grandchildren, Sandra Jane Hemstreet and Kathryn Marie Hemstreet, Robert William Campchero and Emily Cathleen Campchero, Dana Michelle Bergmann, Blaise Conrad Bergmann, Victoria Marvel Bergmann and Claire Catherine Bergmann, Aaron Christopher Whitney, Scott Ian Whitney, Graig Whitney and Laura Whitney; nieces and nephews, Daniel Moffett, Kathleen Moffett Milne, Margaret (Peggy) Moffett, Patricia Moffett Chakas, Jerald Moffett and Jeanne Moffett Andersons, Eileen Behan Sweet, Colleen Behan Jerwan, Daniel M. Behan Jr., Kathleen Behan Gallagher, Pamela Cook Hiuchota, Patricia Cook West, Mary Beth Cook Gangwer, Brian Cook; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by nephews, John Cook, Patrick Behan and great-nephew Adam Milne.

Margaret was born in Schenectady on May 23, 1923. She was the daughter of Daniel Michael Behan Sr. and Sarah Mageean Behan. She graduated from Nott Terrace High School in 1941 and earned her Associates' Degree in 2002.
Her resume included working for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady and San Francisco; Behan's Pharmacy; H&R Block; and as co-proprietor of Moffett's Card Shop.

Margaret's main focus throughout her life was her family and friends. She balanced work and family, without fanfare, long before it was a topic of discussion.

She treasured the family camp at Sacandaga and long considered spending time there as the best thing a person could do. Along with that she had a love for gardening. Music and musicals were another source of enjoyment for her and something she enthusiastically shared with family and friends.

Margaret put her strong belief in education into practice by earning her Associates' Degree at age 79, after raising a family and retiring from work.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006 at St. John the Evangelist Church, where she had been a lifelong communicant. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. John the Evangelist Church Restoration Fund, St. John the Evangelist Church, Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308, or the St. Stephen's Senior Meals Center, St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1229 Baker Ave., Schenectady, NY 12309.

Martin R. Picco

Martin R. Picco, 86, of Holland Gardens Apartments, passed away Thursday evening, January 26, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Amsterdam on April 16, 1919, he was the son of Michael and Josephine Canale Picco. He was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Picco attended Amsterdam schools and was employed with Bigelow Sanford Carpet Mills and later with Ward Products. He retired in 1982. He was a member of the Columbian Social Club and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church.
He was married to Sophie Domkowski on September 30, 1939. She passed away January 5, 1999.

Survivors include one son, Robert M. Picco and his wife, Carol of East Greenbush; three grandchildren, Laura Picco of Albany, Robert M. Picco Jr. of Arlington, VA and Lisa A. Picco of East Greenbush, New York; and nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Woodard D. 'Woody' Walter

Mr. Woodard D. "Woody" Walter, age 81, formerly of Gloversville, died Saturday, January 28, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, NY.

He was born March 25, 1924 in Gloversville, the son of the late Delos and Mae Brown Walter and was a 1942 graduate of Gloversville High School. Woody was very active in the Fulton County community, especially in civic organizations. He was the "American Cancer Society Volunteer of the Year" in 1993. A past president of the Republican Club of Fulton County, he received the "Charles Hough Memorial Award" from the club on February 17, 1997. He was active in the C.S.E.A.; and was a part-time Fulton County Deputy Sheriff. He also had worked at The Eccentric Club, the Fulton County Infirmary, and at Robison and Smith in Gloversville. Woody retired from the Town of Caroga Highway Dept.

Mr. Walter was a member of the North Bush United Methodist Church, the Johnstown Moose, and the former Gloversville Eagles.
He was married to Mary Ann Sweeney on December 22, 1968. She died November 20, 1985.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda Moore (Bronson E.) of Broadalbin, Gail Seelow (Jerry) of Oak Harbor, WA and Karen Parenti of Hookset, NH; a brother, Robert Walter of Gloversville; five grandchildren, Scott E. Moore, Jeffrey A. Moore, Jay Seelow, Sarah Seelow and Marissa Parenti; a great-granddaughter, Abbygail Seelow; two stepdaughters, Kathryn A. Avery and Karen Sagan of Johnstown. He was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Stanton.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at the North Bush United Methodist Church, Caroga Lake with the Rev. Claudia Britton officiating. There will be no calling hours. Spring urn interment will take place at Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the North Bush United Methodist Church, 1009 North Bush Road, Caroga Lake, NY 12032 or to the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Dept., Caroga Lake, NY 12032. Arrangements are by Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville.

Leon C. LaQuay

Leon C. LaQuay, devoted husband of 48 years to Irene (Nestle) LaQuay, father of Debra and Kevin (wife Carmenelena) of Seymour, Ct., and Linda (Husband Michael) LaCasse of Broadalbin, N.Y., and grandpa of Daniel, Taylor, Hannah, Christopher and Kevin, was welcomed by our Lord on January 29, 2004, at St. Vincent's Hospital, Bridgeport, Ct.

Leon, born in Johnstown, N.Y. on August 12, 1932, resided for many years in Seymour, Ct. He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft after 32 years of employment where he was a foreman of Packaging & Preservation. He built his retirement home in Boonville where he has resided since 1987, delighting all around him with his generous spirit and talent for woodworking.

Leon served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, stationed at Ft. Myers, VA., he served as Honor Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown in Arlington National Cemetery.
He was predecreased by his brothers; Herman (Dutch) and John LaQuay, and a sister, Ida LaQuay. He is also survived by sisters, Charlotte Meszler, Harriet and Mary LaQuay, by a brother Dean LaQuay, and by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, with a spring interment in Boonville Cemetery. There are no public calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Connecticut.

Robert J. Coon

Mr. Robert J. Coon, age 81, formerly of Meco, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2006 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a long illness. He had been a resident of the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility for nearly one year.

He was born May 23, 1924 in Gloversville, the son of the late Albert and Iva Gifford Coon. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945 during World War II, and was a driver for General George Patton. He was employed as a lineman and cable splicer by GTE of Johnstown for 32 years, retiring in 1979.

Bob was a founding member and past Chief of the Meco Volunteer Fire Dept; a former member of the Adirondack Beagle and Hare Club, and was the proud owner of two champions. He also had a great love for horses and trotting breed racing ponies, showing and racing them at various horse facilities in New York and Vermont.
He was married to Shirley J. Smith of Caroga Lake on July 29, 1950 who survives. He is also survived by three sons, Gregory Coon (Lori), Russell Coon (Brenda) and Darrell Coon (Robin), all of Meco; a daughter, Sheryl Herron (Daniel) of Johnstown; three brothers, Donald Coon (Carol), Douglas Coon (Marcia) and Willard Coon (Genevieve); six grandchildren, Melissa Coon, Jessica Coon, Christine Coon, Russell Coon Jr.; Stacey Coon and Jordan Herron. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Coon; and a sister, Eleanor Brandow.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. R.W. Williams officiating. Interment will take place at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Meco Volunteer Fire Dept., c/o Roy Palmateer, 473 Co. Hwy. 122, Gloversville, NY 12078.

Veleda M. Cromer

Veleda M. Cromer, 88, of Johnstown, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2006 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a brief illness.

She was born February 3, 1917, in Clayburg, Clinton County, the daughter of Paul and Delia Caron Burnah.

Mrs. Cromer was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish, Johnstown.
She was employed at the former Denkert Sporting Goods and retired from the former Knox Gelatin of Johnstown.

Survivors include her husband Levi Cromer, whom she married November 30, 1940. In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Paul Cromer of Falls Church, Virginia; her daughter, Geraldine (Dennis) Rogers of Broadalbin; grandchildren, Steven Lombardoni of Syracuse and Kelly Rogers of Johnstown; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Stevie Lee and Joelle Lombardoni, and Kaitalin LA Plante; her devoted niece, Addie Forsey; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church, Johnstown.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 East Main Street, Johnstown.

Spring interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnstown.

At the request of the family, memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, may be made in her memory to Holy Trinity Parish, or to the charity of ones choice.

Robert E. 'Bob' King

Robert E. "Bob" King, 74, of Simpson Road, Northville, died Thursday, January 26, 2006 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. He was born in Gloversville, NY on February 4, 1931, the son of the late Ralph and Marie Groff King.

Bob was employed as a mechanic and truck driver, owning Bob's Trucking for many years.

Survivors include his son, Ralph King and his wife, Cheryl of Northville; three daughters, Barbara Finley, Donna Haffman and Susan Capodiferro; two stepchildren, Daniel King and Susan Maloney; one sister, Doris Welch. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Lou Bates King; and his infant son, Erwin King.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Arrangements are by the Northville Funeral Home.

Andrew L. Schultz, 52, of Town Church Road, Oppenheim, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, at Syracuse Veterans Hospital after a long illness.

Born June 5, 1950 in Gloversville, NY, the son of Howard and Helen Valachovic Schultz. He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1969 and then served in the Army from 1970 to 1972.

He owned and operated his own dairy farm for the last 10 years in the town of Oppenheim.
He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Sprite Club in Lassellsville.

He is survived by his daughter, Adina Schultz of St. Johnsville; his parents, Howard and Helen Valachovic Schultz of Johnstown; seven sisters, Andrea Patterson of Johnstown, Paulette Batton of St. Cloud, Fla., Anna-Marie Hoye, Regina Lomanto and Yvonne Schultz, all of Gloversville, Helenka Moisse of Denver, Colo. and Marlene Adams of Niwot, Colo.; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a special cousin, Josephine Palcovic Opitz of Burnt Hill.

A Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's Church, Johnstown with Rev. James Fitzmaurice, pastor of Johnstown Catholic Community, as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown in the spring. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony's Church, Mountain Valley Hospice or charity of one's choice.

Gordon V. Schultz

Gordon V. Schultz, 54, of West State St., Gloversville, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005. He was born in Gloversville, March 8, 1950. The son of Victor and Margaret Rodger Schultz and was a life long resident. He was a 1968 graduate of Gloversville High School and graduated from Fulton-Montgomery Community College in 1970. He owned and operated Schultz Oil Company of Gloversville for several years and taught engines and mechanics at BOCES, Johnstown, NY for ten years.

Mr. Schultz was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gloversville and active in the Boy Scouts. He was married to Margaret Metcalfe on February 14, 1976. Also survived by two sons, Benjamin G. Schultz and Christopher M. Schultz, both of Gloversville; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Garcia and her husband, Solim of New Market, Virginia and Kimberly L. Cassant and her husband, Keith of Columbus, Georgia; one brother, Rodger F. Schultz and his wife Mona of Gloversville; one sister, Roberta Mosher of Bermuda and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
