Kenneth Murphy
December 15, 1996
Private services will be held for Kenneth J. Murphy, 61, of 9th Street in Troy, who died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy.
Born and educated in Troy, Mr. Murphy was an Army veteran of the Korean War. he worked with the roads and grounds crew at Watervliet Arsenal.
Mr. Murphy was a member of Green Hills Alliance Church.
Survivors include two brothers, George Murphy of Galway and Richard Murphy of Troy; four sisters, Edna Jordan, Janet Zeller and Sandra Popson, all of Troy, and Carol Jones of Schaghticoke.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Green Hills Alliance Church.
There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Lansingburgh.
Kevin Porath
December 18, 1996
Kevin Porath, 35, of Mohawk Place, Amsterdam, died Wednesday afternoon at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after being stricken.
Born March 21, 1961 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Oscar and Lynda Covey Porath. He was a 1979 graduate of Amsterdam High School and lived here all his life.
He was very active in sports in the community, playing for various softball and basketball teams and most recently for Russo's Grill softball team. At one time he was the junior varsity basketball coach for Perth Central School and was a CYO basketball referee.
Mr. Porath was employed at one time as a driver for UPS and The Recorder. For the past several years he was employed in the same capacity for Damiano's Flowers in Amsterdam. He was also a member of the Amsterdam YMCA.
Survivors include his parents of Amsterdam; his fiance, Gina Leggiero of Amsterdam; a brother, David Porath, also of Amsterdam; a sister, Cindy Vitus of Hagaman; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Covey of Amsterdam; and a niece, nephew and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by a sister, Rolinda Porath, on Dec. 27, 1994.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. Interment is in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling hours are today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA or to the Amsterdam CYO Basketball League.
Adelaide Titus
December 19, 1996
Adelaide Rachel Titus, 80, formerly of 41 James St., Gloversville, died Thursday at the Fulton County Infirmary where she lived since July.
Born Jan. 30, 1916 in Newport, she was the daughter of Raymond and Rachel Schriner Rathbun. Mrs. Titus resided in Gloversville most of her life and attended Gloversville schools and received her GED in 1970.
She and her daughter owned and operated Adelaide's and Jean's Draperies and Slip Covers in Gloversville. Mrs. Titus was involved in the business for 55 years until last year. Her daughter still operates the business. She also previously taught slipcover making in the Continuing Education Department at Mayfield Central School for several years.
Mrs. Titus is a member of the Gloversville Women of the Moose, AARP, and was past district manager of the March of Dimes for 10 years.
She is survived by two sons, Roger T. Titus of Great Missenden, England, and James B. Titus of LaFargeville; two daughters, Jean T. Krause of Gloversville and Roxann M. Koon of Spring City, Tenn.; two sisters, Agnes Tierney of Herkimer and Edith James of Rome; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Walrath & Bushouer Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Wendell H. Elmendorf Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

June Voorhees
December 18, 1996
Mrs. June Voorhees, 74, of Trackside Homes, Johnstown, died Wednesday at the Fulton County Infirmary after a long illness.
Mrs. Voorhees was born and educated in Amsterdam.
She was a custodial aide for Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville and retired in 1983 from the former Johnstown Hospital.
Also, Mrs. Voorhees worked for a short time in New York State's Green Thumb Program.
She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church.
Mrs. Voorhees was a member of the 50 Plus Senior Citizens; Johnstown Women of the Moose; and a former member of the Court Pinta Chapter of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She married John Voorhees on April 27, 1957. He died in 1970.
Survivors include a nephew, David Bain of Mechanicville; and several cousins.
A prayer service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Barter and Donnan Funeral Home, corner of Main and Melcher streets, and at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Johnstown Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Blanche Decker
December 29, 1996
Blanche L. Decker, 84, of Kingsboro Towers, Gloversville, died Sunday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken at home.
She was born in Shandaken Dec. 24, 1912, the daughter of Osmer Lane and Sarah Kathleen Thompson.
Mrs. Decker retired from Fownes Bros. in Amsterdam after working there for 18 years as a cost accountant. She was a former member of the Perth Bible Church.
She married Leslie Decker in Kingston in 1927, where she lived before moving to Gloversville. He died in 1972.
She is survived by her sons, George Leslie Decker and Ronald R. Decker, both of Gloversville; a daughter, Patricia A. Parker of Perth; a sister, Ellen Crookston Mazzuca of Kingston ;14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Decker's body was donated to the Albany Medical College Anatomical Gift Program.
A memorial service for the family will take place at a later date.

Charles Brumagim
December 21, 1996
Charles G. Brumagim, 89, of Vernon, Conn., died Dec. 21.
Born in Amsterdam, he was the son of George and Mary Gillans Brumagim. Mr. Brumagim was raised and educated in Amsterdam and was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute. He moved to Vernon in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Catherine Sullivan Brumagim; his daughter, Alice C. McPadden of Vernon; his sister, Margaret Doorey of Booneville; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was pre-deceased by a son, Charles Hicks Brumagim.
Funeral services were private.

Sadie Medwid
December 30, 1996
Sadie Medwid of Edson Street, Amsterdam, died early Monday morning at St. Mary's Hospital shortly after arrival.
Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Michael and Josie Bruzinskas Pucunas. She was educated in local schools.
Mrs. Medwid was employed as a weaver for Mohawk Carpets and later as an assembler for Ward Products, retiring in 1973.
She was an active communicant of St. Casimir's Roman Catholic Parish where she served on the parish council and was a Eucharistic Minister. She was a charter member and past president of St. Casimir's Ladies Auxiliary. She was also past president and charter member of the St. Casimir's Seniors, and Living Rosary Society of the church.
She married William Medwid on April 16, 1950.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Richard Sakadolsky of Northville; three grandsons; and three great-grandsons.
Services will be 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.at the Church of St. John the Baptist with the Rev. Joseph Grabys officiating.
Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
