Madeleine Wilmot

December 3, 1996
Madeleine May Wilmot, 85, of East Main Street, Fonda, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a short illness.

Born Aug. 9, 1911 in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Edward and Cora Nolan Brennen. She was educated in Amsterdam schools and was a homemaker.

Mrs. Wilmot was a member of the Fonda Reformed Church. where she taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Women's Guild and a junior choir instructor for 15 years. She was the first Woman Elder at the Church and was a founding member of the Glen Mohawk Seniors, where she was the chaplain and treasurer for several years.

She played piano for many years at the church and at many area nursing homes.

Her husband, William Milton Wilmot, whom she married Aug. 29, 1931, died Aug 2, 1970. She was predeceased by a son, Robert E. Wilmot, in 1984.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald R. Wilmot of Fonda and Roger M. Wilmot of Fort Johnson; three daughters, Roberta Jane Cuozzo of Amsterdam, Kathleen Vrooman of Amityville and Madeline M. Wiedman of Warrensburg; a sister, Anna Bishop of Cohoes; a half-sister, Geraldine Cremen of Fort Johnson; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, one aunt and one cousin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Fonda Reformed Church Broadway, Fonda; with Pastor Karen Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fonda Reformed Church or to F-FAVAC.

Mary Frasier

December 4, 1996
Ms. Mary E. Frasier, 88, formerly of Jay Street, Gloversville, died Wednesday at the Fulton County Infirmary after a long illness.

Born in Cranberry Creek, Ms. Frasier worked in the dietary kitchen department at Nathan Littauer Hospital, retiring in 1965.

Ms. Frasier was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

Her husband, Arthur Therrien, whom she married in 1928, died in 1977.

Survivors include a son, Martin Therrien of Massachusetts; two daughters, Margaret Miller White of Gloversville and Lois Meyers of Schoharie; a brother, John Frasier of Broadalbin; six sisters, Isabel White of Amsterdam, Susan Danylaka and Abbey Frasier, both of Gloversville; Mildred Sleazer and Nellie Grandy both of Palatine Bridge, and Florence Simonds of Meco; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 S. Main St. Spring burial will be in Chuctanunda Cemetery, Minaville.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity.

Loretta Voorhees

December 3, 1996
Mrs. Loretta C. Voorhees, 81, of Rickard Road, Schoharie, died Tuesday at the Eden Park Nursing Home in Cobleskill after a long illness.

Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Voorhees lived in New Jersey before moving to the area in 1991.

Her husband, Victor Voorhees, died in 1994.

Survivors include three daughters, Joan Keidong of Schoharie, Patricia Yager of Amsterdam and Kathryn Bavosi of Farmingdale, N.J.; a brother, John Grasberger of Toms River, N.J., five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Cremation was at the Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Schoharie County Unit, P.O. Box 877, Cobleskill, 12043.

Arrangements are by the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, Middleburgh.

Charles Wadsworth

December 3, 1996
Charles E. Wadsworth, 67, of Ridge Road, Northville, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville after being stricken at home.

A lifelong resident, Mr. Wadsworth was a 1947 graduate of Northville Central School. He was a logger and also worked for the Paul Bradt Construction Co. for more than 30 years.

He married Julia Bovee Wadsworth on April 28, 1949.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Charles James Wadsworth of Delray Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Cheri McNamara of Jupiter, Fla. and Marilyn Wadsworth of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two brothers, Robert Wadsworth of Broadalbin and Michael O'Neil of El Paso, Texas; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private. Spring burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St.

Memorial contributions may be made to Northampton Volunteer Ambulance Squad.

Harry Flint

December 6, 1996
Harry Charles Flint, 66, of Route 149, West Fort Ann, Washington County, died Friday at Glens Falls Hospital.

He was born April 21, 1930, in Amsterdam, the son of Harry R. and Mildred Schofield Flint.

He was a retired corrections officer at Washington Correctional Facility in Comstock.

Mr. Flint was a veteran of the Korean War, being stationed in Germany.

He was a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Fort Ann.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife of 38 years, Marie Lunt Flint of Fort Ann; six daughters, Pamela White, Sandra Heath, Kim Winchell and Amy Pecue, all of Fort Ann, Patricia Greene of South Glens Falls and Kelly Sharp of Granville; a son, Harry C. Flint Jr. of Fort Ann; and 16 grandchildren.

A funeral mass is planned at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Fort Ann.

Burial will be in Brown Cemetery, West Fort Ann.

Calling hours at the Mason Funeral Home, 63 George St., Fort Ann., are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 380A Glen St., Glens Falls 12801.

Paul Czelusniak Sr.

December 5, 1996
Paul A. Czelusniak Sr., 99, of Park Hill Adult Home and formerly of Northern Boulevard, Hagaman, died Thursday at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.

He was born in Amsterdam Jan. 24, 1897, the son of Stanley and Victoria Cetnar Czelusniak. He lived in Amsterdam before moving to Pennsylvania for a short time and then returning to the Amsterdam area.

He was educated locally.

Mr. Czelusniak was employed by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady in the steam turbine division until retiring in 1960.

He was a member of St. Stephen's Church, Hagaman.

His wife, the former Martha Sokolowski, whom he married Sept. 16, 1916, died May 16, 1974.

Survivors include three sons, Paul Czelusniak Jr. of Eden. N.C., Stanley Czelusniak of Amsterdam and Joseph Czelusniak of Springfield, Mass.; four daughters, Irene Kobas of Bedford, Va., Martha Bozek of Amsterdam, Theresa Simons of Hagaman and Felicia Simons of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; 29 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Pearl Nickless, who died in 1991; a brother, Alexander Czelusniak of Amsterdam; three sisters, Stella Bandos, Celia McCarty and Jane Constantino, all of Amsterdam.

The funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Guzielek-Pomykaj Funeral Home, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam.

Interment is in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Hagaman, in the spring.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Walter LaRose

December 6, 1996
Walter H. LaRose of Northern Boulevard, Hagaman, died Friday evening at Albany Medical Center Hospital.

Arrangements, under the direction of the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam, are incomplete.

Thadeus "Ted" Bien

December 8, 1996
Thadeus "Ted" J. Bien, 68, of Midline Road, Amsterdam, died Sunday evening at St. Mary's Hospital following a short illness.

Born June 1, 1928 in Little Falls, he was the son of John and Josephine Wnuk Bien. He came to Gloversville as a young man and completed his education there. He has resided in the Amsterdam area since 1960.

Mr. Bien was an auto body repairman and foreman for Parsons Ford, Mohawk Ford and Miller Pontiac. Lastly, he worked for Terry Morris in Burnt Hills before retiring.

He was a member of the Church of St. John the Baptist.

He married the former Mary Lou Prokop on Aug. 21, 1971.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Gary Bien of Amsterdam; two daughters, Karen Robilotto of Amsterdam and Allison Prokop of Hagaman; two sisters, Stella Crocetta of South Daytona Beach, Fla., and Helen Insognia of Gloversville; a brother, John P. Bien of Amsterdam; two grandchildren and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. John the Baptist.

Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of St. John the Baptist Cemetery Fund.
