Isabel Pisarczyk

December 7, 1996
Isagel Wojcik Pisarczyk, 77, of W. Grand St., Palatine Bridge, formerly of Amsterdam, died Saturday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

The daughter of Frank and Mary Wojcik, Mrs. Pisarczyk was a lifelong Amsterdam resident and attended local schools. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Stanislaus Church and its Rosary Society.

She was married to Theodore Pisarczyk for 51 years.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a son, Tim Pisarczyk of Hagaman; two daughters, Sandra Catalano of East Greenbush and Cynthia Pisarczyk Lannen of Palatine Bridge; a brother, Bernard Wojcik of Amsterdam; a sister, Irene Tatara, both of Amsterdam and grandchildren, Rob and Andrew Catalano and Tim and Sara Pisarczyk, and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Church, Amsterdam.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus School.

Arrangements are by Schenectady Cremation Service, 1346 Chrisler Ave., Schenectady.

John Reynolds

December 6, 1996
John O. Reynolds, 92, of Valley View Court, Geneseo, died Friday at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after being stricken.

Mr. Reynolds was born in Fishouse and attended local schools.

He was the retired owner of the J.O. Reynolds Lumber Co. in Warrensburg and the retired co-owner of the Northern Pines Country Club in Saratoga.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Belfance Reynolds; a daughter, Diane Armbruster of Geneseo; a son, J.D. Reynolds of Lake Placid; a brother, James Reynolds of Schenectady, and six grandsons.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville. Burial will be in King Cemetery in Northville in the spring.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the at the Rector-Hicks Funeral Home in Geneseo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Geneseo Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 428, Geneseo, 14454.

Katherine Delos

November 23, 1996
Mrs. Katherine P. Delos, 84, of Bloomfield Township, Mich., died Nov. 23 at her home following a long illness.

Born in Amsterdam, she was the daughter of Giacinto and Antoinette (Caruso) Petruccione and attended local public schools. She received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Syracuse University and earned a master's degree in education from the University of Michigan.

In 1939, she married John Delos, also of Amsterdam.

Following her relocation to the state of Michigan, Mrs. Delos taught in the public schools there, until retiring in 1974, at which time she moved to San Paola, Brazil. While in South America, she served as reviewer and translator of the Portuguese language for the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Va. The couple returned to Michigan in 1978.

In the Bloomfield Township, Mrs. Delos was a member of the Friends of the Baldwin Library and the Mature Minglers.

In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Joanne Fryer, sons, John and Charles; two sisters, two brothers, 10 grandchildren and several cousins.

A memorial service was conducted Nov. 29 at the Baldwin Public Library in Birmingham.

Arrangements were by the Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, Clawson, Michigan.

Jennie Sweet

December 9, 1996
Jennie C. Sweet, 98, of the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam, formerly of Ridge Road, Canajoharie, died Monday night at the facility after a brief illness.

She had lived at the facility since 1990.

Born Aug. 9, 1898 in the Town of St. Johnsville, she was the daughter of Chauncey Cook and Dealia Walrath.

She was employed at Beech Nut Corp. in Canajoharie for 34 years and later was co-owner of the former Dougherty's Hotel in Canajoharie before retiring.

Mrs. Sweet was a member of St. John's & St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Canajoharie. She was also a member of Canajoharie Senior Citizens.

She married Virgil Sweet in 1955. He died Aug. 23, 1975.

Survivors include a niece, Nancy Baldwin, and a great-niece, Erin Waite, both of Fort Plain; two great-nephews, Todd Waite of Palatine Bridge and Jason Waite of St. Johnsville and two great-great-nephews, Evan Waite and Seth Waite both of Palatine Bridge.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home Inc., 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with Pastor John Omans officiating.

Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's & St. Mark's Lutheran Church, or Ayres Memorial Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, 12166.

Jacob "Jack" Dybas

November 23, 1996
Jacob "Jack" Dybas, 89, of Chester, Ga., formerly of Amsterdam, died Nov. 23 at Dodge County Hospital in Eastman, Ga, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Dybas was born in Amsterdam, the son of the late Mary and Paul Dybas Sr.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, having served in World War II. He lived in Chester for several years and was a residential mason. He was a member of the VFW, Warner-Robbins, Georgia Chapter, and was of the Catholic faith.

Mr. Dybas is survived by his wife, Angelina DeVico Dybas of Chester; three sisters, Kay Popielarz, Agnes Bielecki and Ceil Stacy, all of Amsterdam; and one granddaughter. He was pre-deceased by a son, John Paul Dybas.

Graveside services were held at St. Augustine Memorial Park, with the Rev. Ed Booth officiating.

Arrangements were by the Craig Funeral Home in Chester.

Caroline Langelier

December 9, 1996
Caroline M. Langelier, 56, of Maple Avenue, Scotia, died Monday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness.

Born May 13, 1940 in Hoffmans, she was the daughter of Peter and Lula Sematon Meca.

She was educated in the Amsterdam school system, and was a 1958 graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School. She was employed by Fay's Drug Co. in Schenectady.

Mrs. Langelier was a member of St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Amsterdam, the Rotterdam Eagle's Club, the Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 55, Amsterdam.

She was married to Walter A. Langelier.

In addition to her husband, survivors include three sons, John Luck of Hoffmans; Todd Luck, of Arkansas and Curt Luck of Schenectady; a daughter, Lori Youshock, of Alabama; three stepchildren, Sandra Richiazzi of Hagaman; David W. Landeliere of Amsterdam, Chorlene Saide of Broadalbin, her mother, Lulu Meca of Palatine Bridge; a brother, Peter Meca of Amsterdam, three sisters, Ruth Auspelmyer of Hoffmans, Irene Laska of Johnstown and Marlene Loucks of Schenectady; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., with the Rev. Christopher Smith officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.

Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary.

Marion "Mary" Adams

December 9, 1996
Marion "Mary" Adams, 84, of 2 Inwood Ridge, San Antonio, Texas, died Monday evening at home, where she resided since 1990.

Mrs. Adams was born in Amsterdam on April 9, 1912, the daughter of Frank and Anna Raila Augus. She was educated in the Amsterdam school system.

She was employed by the former Mohawk Carpet Co. and Mohasco Industries, retiring in 1966. She was a former member of St. Casimir's Church.

Her husband, Joseph M. Adams, died in 1983.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Smith of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Thomas and Joseph Smith both of San Antonio, Patrick Smith of Sacramento, Calif., and Kathleen Smith of Irvine, Calif., and nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's at a time to be announced. Interment will be in St. Casimir's Cemetery.

Arrangements are by the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam.

Nellie Plankenhorn

December 9, 1996
Nellie P. Plankenhorn, 93, of Gloversville, formerly of Middlefield, died Monday at home.

Born in Kingston, Mrs. Plankenhorn worked on the family farm in Middlefield. Later for several years, she worked at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown. She also was a housekeeper for Dr. Louie Jones of Cooperstown.

She was a member of the Middlefield Baptist Church.

Mrs. Plankenhorn was a former member of the Dairyman's League Association.

Her husband, Andrew L. Plankenhorn, whom she married March 25, 1919, died in 1974.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Shirley Hohler of Gloversville; a brother, William Purdy of Schenectady; four sisters, Blanche Travel and Irene Yannons, both of Catskill, and Gertrude Cable and Ida Sauars, both of Kingston; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley. Spring burial will be in Middlefield Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots, Middlefield Baptist Church, or the Fulton County Emergency Squad.
