He retired in 1983 as professor of romance languages and literature at Colgate University in Hamilton after 27 years. His wife, the former Beatrice Di Francesco, died in 1991. Willie Paine, 69, of 213 Lincoln Ave., Syracuse, died Friday at Vivian Teal Howard Residential Care Facility. Born in Hybart, Ala., he attended Alabama schools. He was a black-topper with construction companies and had also worked as a mason. Survivors: Five sisters, Alberta Dortch, Thelma Dortch and Vhelma Moye, all of Vredenburgh, Ala., Oneal Campbell of Mobile, Ala., and Mary Primm of Avon. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Garland Bros. Funeral Home. Burial, Loomis Hill Cemetery. Calling hour, noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, 143 W. Castle St., Syracuse.

Roy W. Reynolds, 54, of Fayetteville died Sunday. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Fayetteville since 1988. He graduated in 1967 from Central Technical High School. He worked 10 years in the maintenance department at Manlius Pebble Hill School. Survivors: His foster parents, Robert and Kathleen Momper and Genevieve Baulch and Richard Donatis, all of Fayetteville; two sisters, Ruth M. Polley of Pennellville and Betty J. Maxam of Fulton; three brothers, James of Fulton and Ronald and Robert, both of Syracuse. Services: 2 p.m. June 15 in Manlius Pebble Hill School Auditorium, Jamesville Road, DeWitt. Leighton J. Tiffault

Leighton J. "Sox" Tiffault, 84, of 437 Clarendon St., Syracuse, died Monday. Born in Winsted, Conn., he graduated from Syracuse University in 1942. He was a music teacher in the Fayetteville-Manlius school district. He was a vocal jazz musician in Central New York. His Sox Tiffault Trio recently released its first CD, "A Labor of Love," which won a Syracuse Area Music Award in February for best jazz group recording. He composed and arranged many jazz musical scores. Survivors: His wife of 58 years, the former Agnes P. Dority; a daughter, Suzanne E. Tiffault of North Syracuse; three sons, Christopher J. of Liverpool, Lee J. of Manlius and Mark L. of Syracuse; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Solace Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Burns-Garfield Funeral Home, 3175 E. Genesee St., Syracuse. Leslie Thomas "Mutt" Tucker, 76, of Pontiac, Mich., died May 24. Born in Lundale, W.Va., he attended Alabama schools and lived in Syracuse more than 50 years, moving to Pontiac in 2001. He retired from the Syracuse Department of Water and had worked at Syracuse Housing Authority. He was a member of Starlight Baptist Church in Bessemer, Ala., Word of Life Fellowship Christian Center in Pontiac and the Masonic Lodge in Syracuse. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors: Three daughters, Anna B. Hutson of Pontiac, Shirley Jemmott of Las Vegas and Samantha Giles of Syracuse; four sons, Angelo Maddox of Frederick, Md., Myron, Kevin and Craig Tucker, all of Syracuse; a sister, Therese Ray of Pittsburgh; a brother, Jerry Ray of Pittsburgh; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. Services: Were in Pontiac. House of Burns Memorial Chapel, Pontiac, had arrangements.

Robert C. Worden, 63, of Kathan Road, Brewerton, died Sunday. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Eastwood before moving to Brewerton about 20 years ago. He was a clerk for the Onondaga County Justice Center for three years and had been a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways in Syracuse. He was a member of Konosioni Masonic Lodge 950 in Fayetteville. Survivors: His wife of 35 years, the former Willis D. Church; a son, Charles of Brewerton; a sister, Jean Moynihan of North Carolina; two brothers, Charles Moynihan of Amsterdam and Timothy Moynihan of LaFayette. Thompson of Weedsport; two sons, Dominic R. of Florida and Tomas P. of California; a sister, Mary Luksa of Auburn; two brothers, Charlie of Florida and Joseph of California; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
