Survivors: Two daughters, Kathleen Gentile of North Syracuse and Mary Beldock of Syracuse; three sons, Mark of Tennessee, Bruce of Brewerton and Brian of North Syracuse; two sisters, Mary Sclish of Buffalo and Margaret Knapp of Liverpool; a brother, Donald Griffith of Bridgeport; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild. Services: 9:45 a.m. Thursday at Sears-Middleton- Jones Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial, North Syracuse Cemetery. Evelyn V. Horstmyer

Evelyn VanVranken Horstmyer, 92, of 100 Flume Road, Manlius, died Sunday. Born in Schenectady, she graduated from State University College at Plattsburgh where she received a master's degree. She was a special education teacher for Dade County (Florida) School District. She was executive director of the American Heart Association in Clinton County from 1952 to '63. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and was a volunteer ambulance driver during World War II. Survivors: Her husband, Raymond; a son, Robert E. of Cazenovia; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Services: 4 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church, 27 Albany St., Cazenovia. Burial, private. The family will greet friends after the service in the church meeting house. Tait Funeral Home, Cazenovia, has arrangements. Survivors: Her former husband, Rick Knechtel of Brewerton; two daughters, Chaundra Amois of Norfolk, Va., and Rhianna Knechtel of Cicero; a son, Aaron of Cicero; her parents, Richard C. Wemett Jr. and Donna Matheson of North Syracuse; two sisters, Teri Singleton of Stillwater and Sheri Valle of Clay; a brother, Rick Wemett of Clay; a grandchild. Ethel Darling Marshall, 73, of Cortland died Sunday. She was born in Brooktondale. She was a nurse's aide at Highgate Manor Nursing Facility in Cortland for 18 years. Her husband, Frederick T. Sr., a daughter, Randa Marshall, and a son, William, died previously. Survivors: Three daughters, Cindy Seaman and Teresa Marshall, both of Cortland, and Linda Parsons of Homer; five sons, John of Willet, Richard, Randy and David, all of Cortland, and Frederick Jr. of Homer; a sister, Betty Foster; three brothers, George, Robert and Richard Darling, all of Cortland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. James D. McCoy, 73, of Syracuse died Sunday at Loretto. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1990 as supervisor of housekeeping for Community General Hospital after 25 years. Ruth E. Nussey

Ruth E. McCamman Nussey, 76, of Forest Hill Drive, Auburn, died Sunday at Finger Lakes Center for Living in Auburn. Born in Erie, Pa., she graduated from Houghton College and received a master's degree from Western Reserve University. She was a music professor at Indiana Wesleyan University and Asbury Seminary and taught music at Auburn High School. She was organist at many local churches and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Auburn. Her daughter, Elizabeth Nussey, died previously. Survivors: Her husband of 53 years, the Rev. Burton; a son, John of Agoura,  Calif.; three grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church. Burial, Fort Hill Cemetery. Ernest F. Perl

Ernest F. Perl, 69, of San Diego died June 4. He lived in Nedrow many years before moving to Marcellus in 1966 and San Diego in 1997. He retired in 1987 as captain of the canal division of the state Department of Transportation after 32 years. He was a member of American Legion Ralph Share Post 297 in Marcellus and Moose Lodge Kearney Mesa 1852 in San Diego. He was a life member of Marcellus Volunteer Fire Department and served many years on the fire police. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. His first wife of 42 years, Nancy A., died in 1996. Survivors: His wife, Winnie; five daughters, Julie Covich of Syracuse, Mary McGrath of Fitchburg, Mass., Sheila Haney and Margaret Reese, both of Marcellus, and Rita Perl of San Diego; a son, Christopher A. of San Diego; a stepdaughter, Dawn Fields of San Diego; a stepson, Douglas Hiener of Ramona,  Calif.; a brother, Ramson Brown of San Diego; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren. Services: 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Francis Xavier Church. Burial, St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Calling hours, 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Lois Winifred Kotz Robb, 84, of 24 Nelson St., Cazenovia, died Monday at Francis House. Born in Susquehanna, Pa., she graduated from Binghamton City Hospital School of Nursing in 1938. She retired in 1978 as a registered nurse at Upstate Medical Center after 40 years and had been head nurse for 15 years. She was on the board of Westminster Manor in Auburn for six years and was a founding member and past president of Valley VIPs. She was a former member of Valley Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon and helped settle Vietnamese boat people. She was a member and deacon at Cazenovia Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Lawrence O., died in 1975; a daughter, Karen J. Bisnett, died in 1983. Survivors: Two daughters, Carolyn J. Robb of Syracuse and Christine R. Bugnacki of Carrollton,  Texas; two sons, Phillip J. of Cazenovia and Michael F. of Pearland,  Texas; a sister, Audrey Karr of New Milford, Pa.; four brothers, Frederick M. Kotz and Ronald E. Griffis, both of Susquehanna, Vincent L. Griffis of Honesdale, Pa., and Jerrold A. Griffis of Bloomsburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Bruno Rubacha, 81, of Syracuse died Sunday. He was born in Poland. He retired in 1987 as a steelworker at Crucible Specialty Metals after 25 years. He was a communicant of Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a member of Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 14, Syracuse Polish Community Home and St. Louis Society Polish National Alliance. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was an honorary member of the Australian navy. Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Regina Jakubowski; a daughter, Debbie Rubacha of Syracuse; three sons, Peter of Camillus, Raymond of Baldwinsville and Paul of Brewerton; a brother, Matthew of Syracuse; seven grandchildren. Born in Kortright, she lived in Ithaca 14 years and many years in Syracuse before moving to Auburn in 1999. She was a secretary for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Syracuse. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star and Grace Chapel in Skaneateles and a former member of Syracuse Alliance Church. Her husband, Maynard, died in 1985. Survivors: A daughter, Beverly Reibert of Nokomis, Fla.; a son, Philip of Skaneateles; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Benjamin of Syracuse; four sisters, Eloise and Vera Benjamin and Barnie Simpson, all of Syracuse, and Albertha Whittaker of Auburn; two brothers, Norris and Carlton, both of Syracuse; two grandsons.
