Harry Berry
October 9, 1996
Harry John Berry, 47, of Canal Street, Fort Plain, died suddenly Wednesday at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Born in Cooperstown on Nov. 12, 1948, he was the son of Harry E. Berry and Selma Carrigan. He graduated from Fort Plain High School in 1967 and graduated from Fulton-Montgomery Community College in Johnstown.
Mr. Berry had worked at Keymark-Kasson & Keller in Fonda for many years and was also a drummer for several bands in the area.
He was a lifelong area resident.
He was of the Catholic Faith.
In addition to his parents, survivors include one brother, David P. Berry of Covington, Ky.; two aunts, and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, at 10 a.m. at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain.
Father Kenneth Swain will officiate.
Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

Chauncey "Sam" Jackson
October 8, 1996
Chauncey Jackson, 66, of Lape Road, Esperance, died Tuesday at Ellis Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility after a short illness.
Born June 27, 1930 in Rutland, Vermont, he was a graduate of Rutland, Vermont school system.
He moved to this area in 1957.
Mr. Jackson was employed as a truck driver for many years, retiring in 1977 due to illness.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his close friends, Pamela A. Rowling of Delanon and Bruce Hollenbeck of Worchester, N.Y.
Private funeral services will be held at the confenience of the family from Light's Funeral Home Inc., 1428 State St., Schenectady. There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be private.
Arrangements are by the Light's Funeral Home Inc., 1428 State St.

Ella Hinkle
October 8, 1996
Ella Hinkle, 99, of Perth, died Tuesday afternoon at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, where she had been a resident for four years.
Born in Amsterdam on Feb. 27, 1897, she was the daughter of Jacob and Matilda Yerke and was educated in local schools. She was a lifelong area resident of Perth.
Mrs. Hinkle was a weaver at the former Bigelow Weaver Carpet mills of Amsterdam, retiring in 1962.
She was married to Russell Hinkle. He died in 1943.
Mrs. Hinkle was predeceased by her five children: Cladys Hinkle, who died in 1931; Ruth Neahr, who died in 1962; Raymond Hinkle, who died in 1972; Elizabeth Swartz, who died in 1980; and Russell Hinkle Jr., who died in 1986.
Survivors include several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 38 West Main St., Broadalbin with the Rev. Patricia A. Bush officiating. A calling hour will preceed the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Perth Cemetery.
Irene Woods
October 7, 1996
Miss M. Irene Woods, 98, of Amsterdam, died Monday at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home.
Born and educated in Westerly, Rhode Island, Miss Woods lived in Jamaica, Long Island, beforemoving to Greene, N.Y., in 1974 and later, to the Everling Adult Home in Greene in 1978. She relocated to Mount Loretto in 1994.
Miss Woods was vice president and treasurer of the National Bank of Far Rockaway, Long Island, retiring in 1972.
She was a former member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Greene.
Survivors include a nephew, Dr. William Woods of Delanson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Delanson.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will take place in Riverbend Cemetery in Westerly.
Arrangements are by the White-Van Buren Funeral Home, Delanson.
Elizabeth Arnold
October 8, 1996
Elizabeth M. Arnold, 70, of Leahy Lane, Ballston Spa, died Tuesday at home after a long illness.
Born in Galway, Mrs. Arnold was a cashier in the school cafeteria at Ballston Spa Central Schools for 21 years, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Arnold; a daughter, Sylvia Bertrand of Ballston Spa; two sons, William and James Arnold, both of Galway; a brother, Herbert Male of Sumter, S.C.; four sisters, Carolyn Carpenter of Rochester, Lena Denison of Galway, Ellen Howard of Porter Corners and Mary DeDyke of Stewart, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
The service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Armer Funeral Home, 39 East High St.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be in Galway Cemetery.

Marcel Boucher
October 7, 1996
Marcel J. Boucher, 72, of Steele Avenue Extension, Gloversville, died Monday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Augusta, Maine, Mr. Boucher moved to Gloversville in 1949.
For many years, he was a self-employed logger. Later he was a welder fabricator for the H.G. Anderson 's Company in Rensselaer, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Boucher was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lelia Brackett Boucher; a daughter, Brenda Boucher of Northville; two sisters, Nelda Albert of New Britain, Conn.; and Eva Levine of Columbus, Miss., and three grandsons.
Therewill be no service or calling hours.
Cremation will be in Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry Valley.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
Arrangements are by the Amico Funeral Home.
Alta Jennings
October 6, 1996
Alta Brewer Jennings, 80, of Reservoir Road, Fonda, died Sunday at home.
Born in Patterson, Putnam County, Mrs. Jennings was a graduate of Brewster High School. She lived in Carmel until 1944, and then moved to Fitchburg, Mass. Mrs. Jennings relocated to Westboro, Mass., in 1948 and to Fonda, in 1979.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Jennings was a member of the Fonda-Fultonville United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Frank C. Jennings, whom she married Sept. 22, 1935, died in 1990.
Survivors include a son, Franklin D. Jennings of Fonda; a daughter, Sandra J. Sherwood of Fonda; two sisters, Minnie Paddock of Patterson and Doris Redlon of Towners, Putnam County; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main St., Fultonville.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.
