Fred Olsen

September 28, 1996
Fred I. Olsen, 81 of Roosevelt Road, Amsterdam, died Saturday at the Canandaigua Veterans Hospital after a long illness.

Born Nov. 29, 1914, in Amsterdam, he was the son of Thomas and Mabel Youngs Olsen. Mr. Olsen attended Amsterdam schools. He was a firefighter for the Navy Depot in Scotia, retiring in 1973.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in a tank division in Belgium and Germany.

Mr. Olsen was of the Protestant faith.

He married Jane Moore Olsen on Feb. 21, 1940.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Carol Ann Palombi of Marietta, Ga.; and a granddaughter.

There will be no calling hours.

Cremation will take place at the Whitehaven Memorial Park Crematory, Canandaigua.

Memorial contributions may be made to charity or to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Betz Funeral Home, Amsterdam.

Frank Guelli

September 28, 1996
Frank A. Guelli, 58, of 185 Wild Oak Drive, Southington, Conn., and a former resident of Fonda, died Saturday at Bradley Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Roselyn (Tumminelli) Guelli.

Born Oct. 15, 1937, in Rochester, he was the son of Helen Howie Guelli of Rochester and Placita Guelli. Mr. Guelli was a sales representative. He was a member of the Portland Men's Golf Association, the Pequabuck Golf Club and the Quartette Club in New Britain. He was a parishioner of Mary Our Queen Church.

Survivors, including his wife and mother, are his children, Rachelle Blume, Frank Guelli Jr. of Oswego, Joy Tompkins, and Michael Guelli; a brother, Michael Guelli of Astoria, Ore.; two sisters, Nancy Romano of Rochester, and Joan Perry of Marion; nine grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., to Mary Our Queen Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Muriel Bellen Fiebka

September 27, 1996
Mrs. Muriel Bellen Fiebka, 69, of Lepper Road, Fort Johnson, and former ly of Jackson Street, Amsterdam, died Friday evening at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, following a long illness.

Born April 7, 1927, in Mayfield, she moved to Amsterdam in 1948. She was a graduate of Mayfield High School and Cobleskill Agricultural and Technical College.

She was employed as a dietician, first by Amsterdam Memorial Hospital and later by the Greater Amsterdam School District, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of the Horace J. Inman Senior Citizens and the Port Jackson Seniors.

Mrs. Fiebka was a communicant of the Calvary Assembly of God Church in Amsterdam.

She married Duncan Fiebka on Sept. 8, 1949. He died Sept. 19, 1982.

Survivors include her son, George Fiebka of Fort Johnson; a brother, Hugh Bellen of Syracuse; three grandchildren, George, Sabrina and Luke Fiebka of Fort Johnson and several nieces, one nephew and several cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, with the Rev. Raymond Barnett officiating. Interment will be in Perth Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memoriam contributions may be made to the Calvary Assembly of God Church.

John Constantino

September 26, 1996
John C. Constantino, 81, of Marie Parkway, Loudonville and formerly of Amsterdam, died Thursday at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Constantino was the son of the late Angelo and Louise De Pasquale Constantino.

He was a lifelong Amsterdam resident until recently, and was educated in the Amsterdam school system.

Mr. Constantino started his career as a produce manager at the Mohigan Market. From 1943 to 1973, he was self employed as a produce wholesaler. He retired from Quandt's Food Distributors as a produce buyer in 1987.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church.

He was married to Jennie Coluni Constantino for 54 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Angelo L. Constantino of Loudonville and Valentino J. Constantino of Clifton Park; one daughter Louise Ann Kowalski of Hickory, N.C.; a brother, Peter Constantino of Amsterdam; five sisters, Catherine Ambrosino of Gloversville, Helen Rizzo of Wilmington, Dela., Josephine Constantino, Yolanda Petrasino and Mafalda Marsciano of Amsterdam; and 10 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Carmella Constantino.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the DeStefano Funeral Home, Route 5S, Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's Hospice, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, N.Y.12088 or to a charity of one's choice.

Marian Pentland

September 27, 1996
Mrs. Marian D. Pentland, 74, of Parkwood Drive, Fort Plain, died Friday evening at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, after a long illness.

Born May 26, 1922, in Canajoharie, she was the daughter of Howard and Ethel Byrne Conrad. She graduated from Canajoharie High School in 1940. She was a lifelong area resident.

She was employed by the Montgomery County Clerk's Office in the Records Room, retiring in 1979. She was also a legal secretary for various attorneys in the area and at one time was employed at Beech-Nut Nutrition Corp. in the billing department.

Mrs. Pentland was a member of the Fort Plain Reformed Church.

She was also a member of the Fort Plain Senior Citizens and the Fort Plain Council of Senior Citizens.

She married Stanley Pentland on Oct. 19, 1946 at the Canajoharie Reformed Church.

In addition to her husband of Fort Plain, survivors include a daughter, Linda Davi of Flat Creek; a son, Donald Pentland of Ladson, S.C.; three grandchildren and an uncle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain, with the Rev. Jeffrey L. Thibodeau officiating. Burial will be in Canajoharie Fall Cemetery.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, 12078.

Joseph Mailloux

September 27, 1996
Joseph A. Mailloux, 92, of Main Street, Fort Plain, formerly of Bridgeport, Conn., died Friday at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a short illness.

Born Nov. 27, 1903, in Fall River, Mass., he was the son of Olidas Mailloux and Rosanna Mailloux. Mr. Mailloux was educated in Fall River, Mass.

He was employed by The Bullard Co. in Bridgeport, Conn., as a machinist, then worked as a pattern maker for Mitchell Brothers in Bridgeport and retired from the maintenance department for the Board of Education in Bridgeport in 1974.

Mr. Mailloux lived in Fort Plain for the past year.

He was active with the Democratic Party in Bridgeport for many years.

Mr. Malloux was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Stratford, Conn., and was active in the Senior Citizens Group in Bridgeport.

He married Alice Roy Mailloux on Feb. 22, 1925 in Fall River, Mass.

In addition to his wife of Fort Plain, survivors include two sons, Richard B. Mailloux of Fort Plain and Armand R. Mailloux of Roxbury, Conn.; a brother, Alfred Mailloux of Fall River; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Robert J. Mailloux, on Jan. 2, 1995 and a daughter, Theresa D. Mailloux Farkas, who died in 1952.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Grace Church, Second Hill Lane, Stratford, Conn. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Bridgeport, Conn.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center St., Fort Plain.

Katherine Bremer

September 27, 1996
Miss Katherine Bremer, 100, formerly of Bayard Street, Amsterdam and most recently of Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Care Facility, died Friday afternoon.

Born Dec. 25, 1895, in Johnstown, she was the daughter of Ernest and Anna Hanner Bremer.

As a child, Miss Bremer moved to Amsterdam and had lived in the city since.

She was employed by the Chalmers Knitting Co.

Miss Bremer was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and was a member of its Rosary Society.

A prayer service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Montgomery Meadows.

Calling hours are from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Monday at Montgomery Meadows.

Memorial contributions may be made to Montgomery Meadows Activities Program or to St. Mary's Church Development Fund.

Arrangements are by the Riley Funeral Home Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam.
