Lorraine Johnson

September 14, 1996
Mrs. Lorraine Raes Johnson, 78, of the New Amsterdam Apartments, died Saturday afternoon at the Albany Medical Center following a short illness.

Born March 23, 1918, in Schenectady, she was the daughter of Joseph and Florence Welton Raes. Mrs. Johnson resided there until 1938, when she moved to Amsterdam.

She graduated from the Amsterdam School of Practical Nursing in 1968. Mrs. Johnson was employed as a licensed practical nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, retiring several years ago.

She attended the United Methodist Church in Amsterdam.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Hi-Lo Senior Citizens group of the New Amsterdam High Rise Apartments and was also active in the daily social and civic affairs of the apartments. She was also a former member of Art-Wel Chapter No. 208, Order of the Eastern Star.

She was married to Leon Johnson. He died in December of 1995.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by a son, William Johnson of Amsterdam; two daughters, Jacqueline Pulsifer of Orange Park, Fla., and Patricia Mooney of Galway; two sisters, Eleanor DeNure Clevenger of Broadalbin, and Leola Trevett of Fort Myers, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was at the Parkview Crematory in Schenectady. A memorial service will be conducted at a date and time to be announced.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation of St. Mary's Hospital, 427 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Arrangements are by the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Kenneth Pryme

September 14, 1996
Kenneth E. Pryme, 79, of Route 29, St. Johnsville, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.

Born Aug. 19, 1917, in St. Johnsville, he was the son of Lester Edgar and Nellie Fredericks Pryme. He was educated in St. Johnsville schools and was a lifelong resident of the St. Johnsville area.

Mr. Pryme was a World War II Army veteran, enlisting on April 3, 1941, and was honorably discharged on Oct. 29, 1945. While serving our country he received the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Pryme was last employed for the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School. At one time, he was employed as a truck driver of Kasson and Keller Manufacturing in Fonda.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Mr. Pryme was a charter member of Stratford Beagle Club and also was an avid sportsman.

He was married to the late Bertha F. Danielski.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth A. Pryme of St. Johnsville; a daughter, Bonnie Smith of Ilion; a sister, Margaret Brundage of St. Johnsville; three grandchildren, Randy and Kevin Smith and Michelle Homkey and six great-grandchildren and a special friend, Mildred Stack of Oppenheim; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by an infant son, Ronald Pryme.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville.

Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Calling hours will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or to Oppenheim Volunteer Fire Department.

Clara Hogabone

September 16, 1996
Clara Bell Hogabone, 69, a former resident of Amsterdam, died Monday morning at the Green Manor Nursing Home in Ghent., after being a resident there since May.

Born May 26, 1927, in Charleston Four Corners, she was the daughter of Frank and Esulia Gordon Rhinehart. She attended schools in the Charleston Four Corners area.

Mrs. Hogabone was a homemaker.

She had lived in Amsterdam since 1948. She was of the Protestant faith.

She married William Hogabone on July 12, 1942. He died July 25, 1980.

Mrs. Hogabone is survived by three sons, Carl Hogabone, Lester Hogabone and Richard Hogabone, all of Amsterdam; two daughters, Joann Uhlinger of Broadalbin and Susan McNamara of Amsterdam; two brothers, John Rhinehart of Charleston Four Corners and Peter Rhinehart of Herkimer; two sisters, Estele Fish of Charleston Four Corners and Etta Brice of Dolgeville; five grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at the convenience of the family at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., with the Rev. Robert E. Doxey officiating.

Burial will be in Sloansville Valley Cemetery, Sloansville.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.

Dorothy Green

September 16, 1996
Dorothy J. Green, 65, of Riverview Road, Niskayuna, died Monday at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady after a long illness.

Born in Scotia, Mrs. Green was a lifelong area resident.

Mrs. Green was employed as a keypunch operator for 25 years at the New York State Department of Labor in Albany. She retired in 1987.

She was a communicant of the Niskayuna Reformed Church and a member of its Stephen Ministries.

She was also a former Cub Scout den mother for her church's troop and a member of the Niskayuna Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Her husband of 45 years, Francis Green, died earlier this year.

Survivors include two sons, Wayne Green of Niskayuna and Eric Green of Niskayuna; two daughters, Gayle Whinnery of Niskayuna and Janet Hermance of Gloversville; a sister, Barbara Cranston of Scotia; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Niskayuna Reformed Church.

Burial will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie.

A calling hour will be conducted prior to the service in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

Arrangements are by the White Funeral Home, Scotia.

Kathleen Webb

September 15, 1996
Kathleen G. Webb, 92, of Wilkes Avenue, Amsterdam, died Sunday at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 22, 1903, in Tyrone Pa., she was the daughter of William and Mary Mahoney McCahan.

Mrs. Webb was a graduate of St. Mary's Institute.

She was employed by Fownes Brothers Inc.

Mrs. Webb was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and was a member of its Rosary Society and Senior Citizens Group and the former S.M.I. Social Club of which she was a charter member.

She was married to Edward Webb in March of 1925.

Survivors, including her husband, are a daughter, Millicent A. Miskinis of Lee, Mass.; a sister, Dorothy Ehmer of Amsterdam; four grandsons; one granddaughter; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Rose Webb.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Johnson.

Calling hours will be held today from 6 to 9 p.m. at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church Development Fund, 156 E. Main St., Amsterdam.

Vernon Yennard

September 14, 1996
Vernon F. Yennard, 69, of Mountain Road, Mayfield, died Saturday at home after a long illness.

Born and educated in Speculator, Mr. Yennard was a lifelong area resident.

He served with the Army in Italy during World War II.

Mr. Yennard previously had worked for the Yennard Lumber Co. in Edinburg, Coleco Industries, Wadsworth Logging Co. in Edinburg, and the Stuart Logging Co. in Wells, until retiring.

He was a member of the American Legion Post in Northville.

He married Darla Blowers Yennard on April 13, 1991.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Todd Yennard of Florida and Christopher Yennard of Mayfield; a step-daughter, Darcy Blowers of Mayfield; a brother, Adlore Yennard of Caroga Lake; three sisters, Mulvina and Mary Russell, both of Bakers Mills, and Ellen Russell of Mayfield; and five grandsons.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St., Northville.

Burial will be in King Cemetery, Northampton.

Calling hours will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville.
