Anthony Kindl

February 19, 1997
Anthony R. Kindl, 92, formerly of Mannys Corners Road, Amsterdam, died Wednesday evening at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility where he had been a resident for the past 1 1/2 years.

Born May 2, 1904 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Ignacious and Frances Habla Kindl and was a lifelong area resident.

He was employed as an electrical engineer by the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, retiring in 1967.

Mr. Kindl was a ham radio operator, and had the first crystal radio in Amsterdam.

He was a communicant of St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church of Hagaman.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jane F. Izzano in 1993.

He was first married in 1927 to Emma B. Jalette. She died in 1972. In 1973, he was married to Beatrice C. Jalette. She survives.

Mr. Kindl is also survived by three sons, Robert J. Kindl of Hadley, Richard E. Kindl of Clifton Park, and William G. Kindl of Osburn, Idaho; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen's Church in Hagaman. The interment will be in Hagaman Cemetery in the spring.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Amsterdam Volunteer Ambulance Corps or St. Stephen's Church in care of the funeral home.

Richard Schotter

February 21, 1997
Richard D. Schotter, 79, of Moyer Street, Canajoharie, died Friday at his home after a short illness.

He was born Sept. 12, 1917 in Amsterdam, the son of Alfred E. Schotter and Linna Kilsch.

Mr. Schotter was educated in Germany and France before returning to the United States where he graduate from college with a master's degree in electrical and mechanical engineering.

He was employed by Westinghouse, then Lockheed Aircraft in Union, N.J. He most recently was employed as chief engineer for Red Devil Manufacturing of Union, N.J., from which he retired in 1980.

Mr. Schotter lived in Canajoharie the last 10 years. He moved here from Glenwood, N.J.

He attended Valley Alliance Church in Nelliston. He was involved with the Salvation Army and led numerous church choirs throughout his life.

His wife, Ruth E. Schmidt Schotter, whom he married Oct. 12, 1940 in Newark, N.J., survivors.

Other survivors include two sons, Carl B. Schotter and Richard D. Schotter Jr., both of Glenwood, N.J.; a brother, Clarence Schotter of California; a sister, Louise Patterson of Cape Coral, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 3 to 5 p.m. today at the Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 20 Otsego St., Canajoharie.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Lee Pelletier officiating.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Vernon Township, N.J.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, 12078 or Valley Alliance Church, Route 5, Nelliston, 13410.

Otto Krutz

February 22, 1997
Otto L. Krutz, 88, of 153 Krutz St, Amsterdam, died Saturday afternoon at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He was born Oct. 12, 1908 in Ossecken, Germany, the son of Matilda and Julius Krutz.

Mr. Krutz came to Amsterdam from Germany in 1925. He has lived here ever since.

He was employed by Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills, Mohawk Carpet Mills and Mohasco Industries.

Mr. Krutz was a member of the Craneville Country Cousins and a member of the Cranesville Reformed Church.

His wife, Eva Engle Krutz, whom he married March 10, 1934, died April 18, 1989.

Survivors include a son, Edward O. Krutz of Amsterdam; a daughter Joan Ropeter of Amsterdam; a brother, Adolph Krutz of Amsterdam; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Betz Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jennifer Minier Elliott, officiating.

Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cranesville Reformed Church or to Hospice of Amsterdam, care of the funeral home.

Charles Keilly

February 22, 1997
Charles A. Keilly, 88, of the Wanaque Center, Haskell, N.J., formerly of Charleston, died Friday.

Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Wayne, N.J. until he moved to Charleston in 1971. He moved back to Wayne in 1995.

For more than 29 years, Mr. Keilly worked as a custodial engineer at Public School #132 in the Bronx until his retirement in 1970.

Mr. Keilly was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #450, Pequannock. He was a member of the AARP and the Charleston Senior Citizens Club.

He was a former parishioner of St. Cecelia's Roman Catholic Church in Fonda, and a 3rd and 4th degree Knight of Columbus - Council #209 in Amsterdam.

Survivors include his wife, the former Myrtle Hobbs of Wayne, N.J.; two sons, Charles D. Keilly of Wayne, N.J. and Adam D. Keilly of Haskell, N.J.; two daughters, Louise Neurouter of Wayne, N.J., and Eve Anne Renna of Pequannock; a sister, Loretta Nigro of Del Ray Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Henry Keilly of Del Ray Beach, Fla., and Adam Edward Keilly of Melville, Long Island; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are by the Moore's Funeral Home, 1591 Alps Road, Wayne, N.J.

Otto List

February 22, 1997
Otto List, 90, of Sheridan Village, Schenectady, died Friday at Ellis Hospital, after a short illness.

He was born in Munich, Germany. He moved to the United States in 1925. He first lived in Long Island before moving to the Capital District 16 years ago.

Mr. List most recently was employed at United Baking for many years before retiring in 1972.

He attended Our Lady of Fatima Church.

His wife, Elizabeth Hess List, died in 1978.

Survivors include a son, Richard List of Pattersonville; a daughter, Rosalie Elizabeth McCullough; and seven grandchildren.

There will be not calling hours.

A memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Daly Funeral Home, 242 McClellan St., Schenectady.

Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., or to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 2216 Rosa Road, Schenectady.

Charles Mc Clary

February 23, 1997
Charles M.B. McClary, 68, of Brandt Place, Amsterdam, died Sunday afternoon at home following an illness.

Born March 23, 1928 in Gloversville, he was the son of Charles and Minnie Barclay McClary.

Mr. McClary was educated in the Gloversville school system.

He was self-employed as a tree surgeon until retiring 15 years ago.

He was a veteran of the armed forces, and served with the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Army until being honorably discharged.

Mr. McClary was of the Protestant faith.

He was a member of John J. Wyszomirski American Legion Post 701 of Amsterdam, Veterans of Foreign Wars 2007 of Gloversville and the Disabled American Veterans in Johnstown.

His first wife, Beverly Petitt McClary, died in 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Valerie Severino McClary; three sons, Charles S. McClary of Gloversville; Steven R. McClary of Glens Falls; and Lloyd M. McClary of Amsterdam; three daughters, Bonita Kowalski of Fort Hunter; Charlene Winnie of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Shirley McClary of Little Falls; five stepchildren, Charles Baker, Richard Baker and Frederick Callafello, all of Amsterdam; Debbie Baker and Michelle Hemstreet, both of Ballston Spa; two sisters, Lillian Randall of Gloversville and Esther Arminio of Fultonville; 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. McClary was predeceased by a son, Richard M. McClary, two brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Riley Mortuary Inc., 110 Division St., Amsterdam. The Rev. Raymond Barnett, pastor of Calvary Assembly of God Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mayfield Cemetery.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Amsterdam, 40 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam.
