Edward Robinson

Edward Robinson, 36, a resident of Montgomery Meadows Residential Health Facility, died Friday evening after a long illness.
Arrangements are incomplete at this time and are by the Rossi Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk place, Amsterdam.
Bernice Uhlinger
March 21, 1997
Bernice Uhlinger, 78, of McKay Road, Amsterdam, died Friday at home after a long illness.
Born Aug. 12, 1918 in Broadalbin, she was the daughter of William and Kate Colony Weiderman.
Mrs. Uhlinger was employed at General Foods as a production worker. More recently, she was employed at Amsterdam Memorial Hospital as a home health aide.
Her husband, Raymond Uhlinger, died in January 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Van Hoesen of Amsterdam; a son, Leon Wiederman of Utica; three brothers, Howard Wiederman of Gloversville, Arthur Wiederman of Broadalbin and Lester Wiederman of Perth; five sisters, Edith McLouth of Amsterdam, Helen Sarsdahl of Puyallup, Wash., Clara Steffak of Broadalbin, Hazel Tomlinson of Warnerville, and Dorothy Wiederman of Broadalbin; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She also is survived by a long-time companion, Alvin Busch, of Gloversville.
As per her request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville.

Raymond Nagele
March 22, 1997
Raymond O. Nagele, 82, of 57 East Main St., St. Johnsville, died Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam.
Born Sept. 12, 1914 in St. Johnsville, he was the son of Karl and Sophie Singer Nagele. He was educated in St. Johnsville schools and lived all his life in the St. Johnsville area.
He married Gladys Christman on Nov. 9, 1946.
Mr. Nagele was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. While serving his country, he was a prisoner of war for four years.
Mr. Nagele was a cattle dealer until his retirement in 1987.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He was also a lifelong member of the Fort Plain Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
He married Gladys Christman on Nov. 9, 1946.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sisters, Marion Silvernail of Dolgeville and Hazel Komar of St. Johnsville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith-Woody and Enea Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, with the Rev. Dennis Fonkert, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery in the spring.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, St. Johnsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps or to a charity of one's choice.
Raymond Plumadore
March 22, 1997
Raymond E. Plumadore, 77, of Branch Street, Gloversville died Saturday at home.
Mr. Plumadore was a 1939 graduate of Gloversville High School.
He was first employed with his father as an electrician and later worked with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union Local 166 in Schenectady, retiring in 1974.
A sergeant in the U.S. Army's 27th Infantry Division from 1940 to 1944, Mr. Plumadore served in Europe and the Pacific and received a European Theatre Medal, a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Purple Heart Association.
He married Anna Pierrepont Plumadore on April 22, 1945.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Janice A Foote of Fort Johnson and Bonita R. Mitchell of Gloversville; a brother, Harold J. Plumadore of Gloversville; a sister, Rita E. Longfritz of Gloversville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Steven Dlugos
March 5, 1997
Steven T. Dlugos of Amsterdam died March 5 at Canandaigua Veterans Medical Center.
Born July 2, 1918 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Anna and Steven Dlugosz.
Mr. Dlugos was employed as a factory worker.
He was a member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Amsterdam. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a Merchant Marine veteran.
Survivors include a brother, Raymond Dlugosz of New Windsor and one sister, Sally DePascale of Rochester.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. March 31 with the Rev. Matthew Jelenek of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Beacon, officiating.
Burial with full military honors will be at St. Luke's Cemetery, Beacon.
Edward Robinson

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

Joseph Uminski
March 23, 1997
Joseph Uminski, 99, of Daniel Street, Amsterdam, died Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's Hospital following a short illness.
Born March 19, 1898 in Russia, Mr. Uminski resided in Hempstead and New York York City before moving to Amsterdam in 1916.
He was employed as a tailor for many years and owned and operated his own tailor shop. He was also employed by Amsterdam Dry Cleaners for many years, retiring in 1960.
Mr. Uminski was a member of the Polish National Alliance and a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Amsterdam.
He married Natalie Violet Podlewski on Jan 7, 1922. She died Oct. 5, 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Eleanor Lubin of Parma Heights, Ohio; and Lillian Klump, of Amsterdam; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Betz Funeral Home Inc., 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Interment will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Calling hours are Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Donald Mickle
March 23, 1997
Donald E. Mickle, 70, of Church Street, West Middleburgh, died Sunday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a long illness.
Born in Warnerville, Mr. Mickle was a shovel and crane operator for the state Department of Transportation for 38 years until retiring in 1983. For the past 14 years, he and his son operated Mickle Excavating Co.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he formerly served as treasurer and on the vestry.
He was married to Clara Schrom Mickle.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four daughters, Laura Ziegler of Charlton, Deveral Watson of Bouck's Island, Beth Packard of Triangle Lake and Amy Fain of West Middleburgh; two sons, Stephen and Scott Mickle, both of Middleburgh; 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Middleburgh Cemetery.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 63 River St., Middleburgh.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
William Andrews
March 23, 1997
William P. Andrews, 62, of Ogden Mills Apartments, Cohoes, died Sunday at the Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospital in Albany.
Mr. Andrews was born in Cohoes and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Cohoes High School.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
For the past 15 years, Mr. Andrews was the maintenance supervisor at the Ogden Mills Apartments. Previously, he worked for several years at a blacktop manufacturing plant in Chestertown.
Mr. Andrews was a member of the Cohoes American Legion E.T. Ruane Post 476.
Survivors include three sons, William D. Andrews of Cohoes, Ronald J. Andrews of Gloversville and Matthew C. Andrews of Cohoes; a daughter, Tamara Stockwell of Gloversville; two brothers, Thomas Andrews of Cohoes and Matthew Andrews of Chesterfield, Va.; four sisters, Mary Brown, Catherine Chard and Frances Plouff, all of Cohoes, and Agnes Cleary of Camp Hill, Pa.; and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by the Marra Funeral Home.
Sandra Horning
March 23, 1997
Mrs. Sandra Buchanan Horning, 46, of Johnstown, died Sunday at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a short illness.
Born in Gloversville, Mrs. Horning was a graduate of Johnstown High School.
At the time of her death, she worked for Little's Good Gloves.
She married Robert G. Horning on June 24, 1972.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Veronica and Valerie Horning, both of Johnstown; her mother, Dorothy Streeter of Johnstown; and two sisters, Linda Horan of Caroga Lake and Donna Streeter of Gloversville.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St. Burial will be in Johnstown Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
