Glen Betts
CAMPBELL - Glen Betts age 95, of Campbell, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 after a brief battle with cancer.
Glen was born in Corning on March 14, 1911 to Tracy and Estella (Robins) Betts. He married Gertrude Hamilton in 1930 in Corning.
He had worked in many capacities at Corning Glass Works over his 40 year career, retiring in 1972 as a glass technician. He was an active member of the Curtis Baptist Bible Church, and had been a Deacon, was a member of Mustard Seed Circle of Kings Daughters and Sons, the Shanty Shifters camping group, and the Campbell Senior Citizens.
His survivors include his loving wife of 76 years, Gertrude at home; son, Larry
Bernice) Betts of Campbell; one brother, Clarence Betts of Tampa, Florida; an adopted son, Rev. Ellis (Barbara) Grist of Woodhull; 11 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Glen was predeceased by his son Donald Betts, and by his great granddaughter Danielle Swanson.
Calling hours were held on Friday from 2-4 p.m. at the Curtis Baptist Bible Church on Tannery Road in Curtis, where funeral services were held following calling hours at 4 p.m. with the Reverends Dale Ingraham, Theodore Brennan, and Ellis Grist officiating. Burial was held in Barnard Cemetery, Corning.
Memorials may be directed to Curtis Baptist Bible Church, PO Box 191, Campbell, NY 14821. Arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Corning.
Sharon B. Andrews
BATH - Sharon B. Andrews, 61, of Bath, passed away Sunday July 16, 2006 at home.
She was born in Bath, the daughter of the late Wayne Monroe Bennett and Clara May Miller Bennett.
She was a Graduate of Hammondsport Central School, and employed at Phillips Lighting.
She is predeceased by her parents Wayne Monroe Bennett and Clara May Miller Bennett and her sister Joan R. Benincasa.
She is survived by her husband Lester C. Andrews of Bath, her step daughter Monica (Ernie) Sage of Randolph, step sons Barry Andrews of Great Valley, Jerry (Sandy) Andrews of Great Valley, and Special Son Steven (Mercy) Trenchard of San Antonio, Texas, and her four sisters Irene M. (Fredrick) Blackham of Greer, South Carolina, Shirley L. Bennett of Bath, Regina E. Bennett of Bath, and Elaine M. Miles of Bath, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are being observed Wednesday (July 19) from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath, where her Funeral Service was held on Thursday (July 20) at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jeffrey McDowell officiating. Her burial was held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport.
Amelia B. Alsheimer
CORNING - Amelia B. Alsheimer, 85, died Thursday July 13, 2006 at Founders Pavilion, Corning, NY.
She was born on May 23, 1921 in Howard, NY, the daughter of the late Floyd and Josephine (Whitehead) Crocker. Amelia worked as a waitress in many locations in her earlier years. She was predeceased by her brother, Floyd Crocker, and sister Velma Crocker.
She is survived by four daughters: Mary Faucett and Diana Bucci of Bath, NY, Michelina Garbarini and Phyliss Walters of Bethel, NY one son: Dominick Bucci of Forked River, NJ, her sister Ann Fusco, twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Private services were held at Howard Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Mary L. Tyler Dean
BATH - Mary L. Tyler Dean 90 of 1 Juniper St, formerly of Keuka Lake passed away Tuesday July 18, 2006 at her home.
She was born July 11, 1916 in Nunda, the daughter of Emilien Jacques and Emelia Jaubert Bossuet.
She was predeceased by her husbands Durwood (Pat) Tyler February 17, 1974 and John H, Dean June 6, 1999.
May was a Media Resource Aide at Hammondsport Central School for many years, and was a member and former Deacon of the Hammondsport Presbyterian Church. Her happiest years were spent working at the school, she cherished the many friendships she made. She loved her Family, Church and Community.
Surviving are her daughters Beverly (Kert) Frisk of Port Crane, and Yvonne Gill of Elkland, Pennsylvania, son-in-law James Gill of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Grandchildren Michelle (Jeffrey) Eldred, Tami (Gary) Stanton, Maria (Martin) Bennett, Ricci (Brenda) Frisk, Christopher (Stacy) Gill and Danielle Gill, 8 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother Albert Bossuet.
Friends called Thursday (July 20) from 7-9 p.m. and Friday (July 21) from 2-4 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport. Funeral services were held at the funeral home Friday (July 21) at 4 p.m., Rev Anne Wassdorp officiated and interment was held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery Hammondsport. Memorials may be made to the Hammondsport Public Library Building Fund or the Hammondsport Presbyterian Church.
Leonila C. (Nellie) Hamilton
WAYNE - Leonile C. (Nellie) Hamilton age 63 of 12010 East Lake Rd. passed away suddenly July 11, 2006 at her home.
She was born September 19, 1942 in the Philippines, the daughter of Venancio and Teodosia Suarnaba Conta. Her husband Lawrence F. Hamilton passed away February 2, 2005.
Nellie was a charge nurse at the Steuben County Health Care Facility in Bath and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Bath.
Surviving are her brothers Juan and Jose Conta and a sister Bilar Niemea all of the Philippines and a niece Judy Conta of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
A memorial service will be held Saturday August 5 at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, 6968 East Washington St. Ext. in Bath. Memorials may be made to the church.
Arrangements are by the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport.
Johanna Kashorek
HOMESTEAD, FLORIDA - Johanna Kashorek, 86, a former resident of Bath, died Monday, July 17, 2006 at Homestead Hospital in Homestead, Florida. She was born in Dubois, Pennsylvania on October 28, 1919 to Bruno and Frances Cydzick. She loved her family, walking, and gardening. She was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband Walter S. Kashorek in 1990, her son Walter J. Kashorek in 2004, and by her son Jack Kashorek in 1996. She was also predeceased by her sister Mary Adamowick, her sister Josephine Novak, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Spencer and grandsons Jason and Joshua Spencer all of Homestead, Florida.
Also surviving is her brother Bruno Czycik of Avoca and her grand-daughters Shelley Wood, Christina Snell, Veronica Jennette, Lorri Kaskorek, and her grand-sons Matthew Kashorek, Vincent Kashorek, and Nicholas Kashorek. Great-granddaughters Shelby Kashorek, Nicole Kashorek, Heather Carson, and Cassidy Kashorek, great grand-sons Brian Wood, Casey Kashorek, a niece Mary Bajinski, and a nephew Stanley Adamowick and a daughter-in-law Jeanne Kashorek.
Funeral services will be held at a later date with burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Bath.
Jeanne P. Klinger
PENN YAN - Jeanne P. Klinger, age 92, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at the Penn Yan Manor.
Friends and family called at the Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh, on Friday, July 21, from 2-4 p.m. Her funeral was immediately followed at 4 p.m at the funeral home. Interment was held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville, Pennsylvania on Monday, July 24 at 1 p.m.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials maybe made in her name to the Penn Yan Manor.
Jeanne was born in Frenchville, Maine on March 15, 1914 the daughter of the late Onat and Zeline Martin Paradis. She is predeceased by her 1st husband Oneil Roy and 2nd husband, Floyd R. Klinger and a sister.
Jeanne is survived by her children, Rita M. Roy (Thomas) Finley of Puteney, Sylvia Roy (Richard) Van Deusen of Rochester, stepson, James Klinger of Lockhaven, Pennsylvania, step-daughters, Helen Klinger of Lockhaven, Pennsylvania; and Janet Klinger Birch of Levine, California; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sister, Clodine Costello Legere of Sanford, Maine; brother, Philip Paradis of Bangor, Maine; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Jesse A. Decker
BATH - Jesse A. Decker 87 of 7256 Wildflower Way and the Taylor Health Center passed away Monday July 17, 2006 at Ira Davenport Mem. Hospital.
He was born in the Town of Urbana, November 28, 1918 the son of Eugene and Emily Shattuck Decker.
He married the former Leonora Young on September 15, 1940 in Addison, she survives.
Jesse was an Navy Veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippine Invasion. He retired from the Taylor Wine Co. in 1984 after 35 years of service, and he was also an avid traveler.
Surviving are his wife Leonora, daughters Susan (Alan) Edsall of Wayne, Sharon (Waldmar) Vetter and Judy (Art) Golk both of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nephew Paul (Rhonda) Regal, sister-in-law Arlene Santus.
He was predeceased by his sister Mabel Regal.
At Jesse's request there are no calling hours or funeral service. Family and friends are invited to a time of remembrance at the family home, 7256 Wildflower Way, Sunday July 23 from 2-4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, in care of St. James Episcopal Church, Lake and Main Sts, Hammondsport, NY 14840 or a favorite charity of choice.

Gerald "Jerry" V. Murphy Jr.
BATH - Gerald V. Jr. "Jerry" Murphy, age 60, formerly of West First St., Corning, died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at the Bath VA Medical Center.
He was born on August 31, 1946 in Corning, the third child of the late Mary and Gerald Murphy Sr.
A memorial service for Jerry was held on Friday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. in the Union Chapel at the Bath VA. He will be laid to rest in the Bath National Cemetery.
Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army Airborne, trained as a paratrooper. His overseas duty was served at Fort Kobbe, guarding the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.
Jerry's survivors include; his 'big sister' Judith White of Bath; brothers Dennis Murphy of Big Flats, Paul Murphy and Timothy Murphy both of Corning. Also surviving Jerry are his children; Tawnee Hawley of Wagoner, Oklahoma, Christie Winnert of Elmira, David Murphy of Elmira and Matthew Murphy of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Nine grandchildren also survive along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry was predeceased by two of his precious grandchildren and his 'little sister' Sallie Dowd.
Jerry was very good to others right up until the end, helping anyone that he could and fixing anything that he could make "right." He will be missed greatly by those who knew him and loved him.
