Vera L. Smith

BATH - Vera L. Smith, 78, of Babcock Hollow Rd. passed away on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2007 at the Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital.

She was born on May 8, 1929 in Burton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Ralph and Edith Wilson Broadhurst.

She had been employed at the Steuben County Infirmary and at both Westinghouse and Phillips. She was also a member of the Hammondsport Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are her husband of 60 years Donald M. Smith; sons Larry "Dutch" Smith of Hammondsport and Jerry Smith of Bath; daughter Donna Smith of Bath; four grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

No prior calling hours, services will be held at a later date at the Bath National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Assoc. or Southern Tier Hospice.

Arrangements are by the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport.

Warren Raymond "Ray" Partridge

Dundee - Warren Raymond "Ray" Partridge, age 73, of Dundee, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at The Homestead, in Penn Yan.

Honoring his wishes there are no calling hours and services will be private at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will be in Coopers Plains Cemetery.

Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Dundee United Methodist Church, 35 Water St. Dundee 14837, the Campbell United Methodist Church, 8516 Main St. Campbell 14821; or the charity of the donor´s choice.

Warren was born Dec. 20, 1933 in Tryonville, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Raymond and Isabelle Sterling Partridge.

He served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne 504 Company from 1951 to 1955. On July 6, 1957 in Campbell he married the former Margaret L. Hodge. They shared 44 wonderful years together, before she passed away on Dec. 10, 2001.

"Ray" was employed as a Quality Inspector for 35 years by Eastman Kodak, in Rochester, retiring in 1986. He has lived in Dundee since 1986, having spent summers there since 1972. "Ray" was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and target shooting; was a member of the N.R.A., the Barrington Rifle Club, and a former member of the Outlet Rod & Gun Club in Rochester.

He is survived and will be missed by his brother in law whom he loved as a brother Richard L. "Dick" (Jackye) Hodge of Holley; a brother John (Arlene) Waddingham; two sisters Sandra Whitt; and Bernice (Ron) Meins; a sister in law Carol (James) Gurnsey of Campbell, and several nieces, nephews, caregivers, and shooting buddies.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.

Maudie S. Tiffany

BATH - Maudie S. Tiffany, 94, of Bath, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at Taylor Health Center.

Private graveside services will be held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammondsport.

Arrangements are with Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath.

Esteban González- Consamuyo

PRATTSBURGH - Esteban González- Consamuyo, 91, of Prattsburgh, passed away on Dec. 11, 2007 at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua.

Family and friends called at the Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh on Friday, Dec. 14 from 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, Dec. 15 at St. Patrick's Church at 2 p.m. Burial followed at Rural Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Esteban's name to: Prattsburgh Protectives, 15 Allis St., Prattsburgh, NY 14874.

Esteban was born on Dec. 26, 1915 in Arequipa, Perú, the son of the late Santos and María Cleofé González- Consamuyo. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church. Esteban immigrated to the United States in 1981. He worked for 20 years at the Bennett Fur Farm in Bloomfield. Esteban was a kind and gentle soul who was always ready with a smile. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. This extraordinary human being will be greatly missed.

Esteban is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucia Barahona-Farro; children José and Angelica Molina of Lima, Perú, late Alicia Pacheco of Falls Church, Virginia, Pedro & Elba González of Lima, Perú, Emilia González of Quintana Roo, México, Robert and Teresa Coombs of Prattsburgh; grandchildren, Elizabeth Carrillo of Miami, Florida, Martin and Jennifer Coombs of Grand Island, NY, Ana and Jason Brightful of Rochester; great-grandchildren, Haley, Lauren and Abigail Coombs of Grand Island, NY and many other family members in Perú and Mexico.

Thelma A. Hammond

AVOCA - Thelma A. Hammond, 87, died early Tuesday morning, Jan. 1, 2008 at her home at 5360 Michigan Hollow Road, Avoca.

Born in Prattsburgh on March 1, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Roland and Mildred Putnam Lewis. On Sept. 30, 1939 she was married to Clark L. Hammond, who predeceased her on Dec. 11, 1994 after 55 years of marriage. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her daughter, Dixie Kay in 1946 and her grandson, Todd in 1990.

She was employed by the Red & White Store in Avoca and the Ketch Crest Dairy in Bath.

Thelma loved to go antiquing.

Her family includes her son, Richard (Carlene) Hammond of Cleveland, Georgia; her daughter, Bonnie Fires of Rochester; her four grandchildren, Valery, Chad, Cynthia and Chip; her three greatgrandchildren; Bethany, Andrew and Alethia; her brother, Robert (Linda) Lewis of Branchport; her two sisters, Wilma Peacock of Hammondsport and Dorothy Reynolds of Atlanta, Georgia; also her nieces and nephews.

Calling hours were Friday, Jan. 4, from 7-9 p.m. at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N. Main St., Avoca, where a funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Avoca.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in her memory to Southern Tier Hospice, 11751 East Corning Rd., Corning, N.Y. 14830.

Alice R. Havens

BATH - Alice R. Havens, 72, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center. She was born in Juniata County Pennsylvania, Nov. 10, 1935 the daughter of the late Mary B. Swartz and Charles A. Borhman. Alice was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She dedicated her life to raising her family and taking care of her home. Alice enjoyed working side by side with her husband/ partner in his Excavation business. In later years Alice spent much of her time caring for the ill and infirm, as a home health care aide. Alice very much enjoyed the out-of-doors, hunting and gardening.

Alice is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 23 years Harold of Bath, . Her children Karen (Scott) Murphy of Cameron, Richard Swift of Avoca, Uleta (James) Hand of Ashland, Massachusetts her stepchildren Vaughn Havens, Deborah (Jim) Stark, Terry (Michael) Wheeler, James (Wendy) Havens all of Bath. Alice is also survived by her only sister Marjorie Marsh of Bath, grandchildren and great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Alice was predeceased by her father and mother and her son S.D. (Carol) Swift of Marlboro, Massachusetts in 2005.

Alice was fond of and collected likenesses of Angels in the form of pins, statues, and ornaments. She is now in the company of the angels she so loved.

Calling hours were observed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, from 1-3 p.m. at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath where her Funeral Service was held at the conclusion of calling hours at 3 p.m. with Anne Murphy Officiating.

Ruth N. Simonson

PULTENEY - Ruth N. Simonson, age 86, of Pulteney, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Friends and family may call at the Bottoni-Wood Funeral, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh on Sunday, Jan. 6 from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services for Ruth will be held at the Pulteney Presbyterian Church on Monday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in the spring at Glenview Cemetery in Pulteney. Memorials may be made in her name to the Pulteney Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.

Ruth was born April 14, 1921 in the Town of Chester, the daughter of late Kingsley and Ethelyn Schuyler Niles. She was a 1939 graduate of Cazenovia High School and married her husband, Paul J. Simonson, on Aug. 21, 1940. She was employed until her retirement as a bookkeeper for Clark Specialty in Hammondsport for 31 years. Ruth was a member of the Pulteney Presbyterian Church, where she was an Elder for 6 years; and a past matron of the Vine City Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star of Hammondsport for over 60 years. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul, in October of 1996 and her brother Charles Niles.

Ruth is survived by her son, Harold K. Simonson of Bailey, North Carolina; daughters, Mildred (Jack) Hill of Bath and Marva Simonson of Elgin, South Carolina; grandchildren, Bonnie (George) Wilkins of DeBary, Florida, Bruce Lenker of Pulteney, Laurie (Aaron) Bush of Fairport, David (Wendy) Hill of Hammondsport, Erik (Marissa) Hill of Pulteney, Leanne Hill of Webster, Amy (Buddy) Flythe of Virginia, Aaron Simonson-Thomas; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Niles of Sebring, Florida; sister-inlaw, Peg Niles of Afton; and several nieces and nephews.

William C. Frederick

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - William C. Frederick, 78, of Los Angeles, California died Nov. 6, 2007. He was born Nov. 28, 1928 in Buffalo, the son of Charles and Anna Madigan Frederick. He was a retired 20 year Air Force Veteran and was a member of the ground crew for the Thunderbirds. He served with NATO in France. While in Europe he had an audience with the Pope and also visited the home areas of many Patron Saints. He worked as a security guard for the county of Los Angeles.

He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth (Ronald) King of Bath, his brother John Frederick of Bath; nieces and nephews, Wayne and Sandy Hughes, John Hughes, Neal and Hilda King, Mark and Rhonda Tobias, David King, Brenda and Mark White and Mark King. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Margaret Frederick Hughes.

A memorial service with military honors, will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath with Deacon Ray Defendorf officiating.

John Anthony Kogut

BRANCHPORT - John Kogut passed away on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007 at his home in Branchport, surrounded by his family. John, the son of Rose and John Kogut, grew up in Lackawanna with his older brother Mike and younger sister Tina.

Throughout his life, John enjoyed hunting and spending time in the outdoors. For several summers, he was the rifle range director at Woodcraft Camp in the Adirondacks. John attended the University of Buffalo (SUNY/AB South), graduating in 1965 with a Degree in Pharmacy. He later earned his MBA from Syracuse University.

Following college, John became an officer in the US Army, attaining the

rank of Captain. John began his business career as a pharmacist working his way up to becoming President of the Fay's Drug Division and principal owner at CHSI. He was also a member of the NY State Board of Pharmacy. He put his heart into his work, pioneering the development of retail pharmacy as we know it today.

About six years ago, John switched gears to spend more time with his family and friends and to pursue his dreams as a deer hunter, golfer, skier, and gentleman farmer (buckwheat to attract the deer).

John is survived by his wife Debbie, the love of his life; his brother Mike and wife Marilyn; and his sister Tina and husband Joe Metzger. He was a great father and will be sorely missed by his children: Kimberly and Lindsey Hart; Kathy Kogut; Bob and Melinda Kogut; Dave and Chris Kogut; and grandchildren, Kate and Gretchen Kogut. John will also be missed by his longtime friends Rich, Ralph, Kandy, Father Emil and many others.

John Kogut was a man who always looked out for his friends and took care of his family. His zest for life, loyalty, and sense of humor (bad jokes, mostly) will not be forgotten.

Friends and family may call at Fagan's Funeral Home, 31 W. Morris St., Bath, on Jan. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a Memorial Mass to follow at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, 32 E. Morris St., Bath, with Rev. Emil Swiatek, Celebrant. Flowers are gratefully declined. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John Kogut's name to Camp Good Days, 1332 Pittsford-Mendon Rd., PO Box 665, Mendon, NY 14506 or at www.campgooddays.org.

Sarah J. (Hughes) McKee

MAHAFFEY, PENNSYLVANIA - Mrs. Sarah J. (Hughes) McKee, age 91, of Mahaffey, Pennsylvania passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at Ridgeview Nursing Home in Clearfield.

Mrs. McKee was born in Clearfield on April 2, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Bert J. and Wilhelmina (Young) Hughes.

She was a member of the EUB Church in Westover and a former member of the Grace Bible Church in Bath. She was also very active in the Harmony Grange.

She was the wife of Robert E. McKee who preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons William T. McKee of Nokomis, Florida and Stanley E. McKee of Bath; one daughter Peggy A. White of New Washington; two brothers William Hughes and Elmer Hughes of Harmony; eight grandchildren; ten great grand- children; one great great grandchild; a daughter-in law Jeanne Clift of Bath; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by two sons Robert A. McKee and James V. McKee; and one sister Margaret E. Sebring.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at the East Ridge Methodist Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor John White officiating.
