F. Betty Blowers

HAMMONDSPORT - F. Betty Blowers, 78, of the Taylor Health Center, formerly of the Country Valley Home in Bath and also of Hammondsport, passed away Jan. 3, 2008 at the Health Center.

She was born July 6, 1929 in Wayland, the daughter of Raymond and Mildred Taylor Hoffman. He husband Andrew O. Blowers passed away Nov. 18, 2001.

Betty was an avid bingo player, and ran a vegetable stand with her husband in front of their house for many years, he brought a smile to everyone's face.

Surviving are her daughter Carol (Tom) Israel of Fairfax, Virginia; sons Raymond (Lana) Blowers of Penn Yan, Carl (JoAnn) Blowers of Conway, South Carolina, Larry (Elaine) Blowers of Wichita Falls, Texas and Roy (Taff) Blowers of Milton, Florida; two brothers Frank Hoffman of Perkinsville and Fran Hoffman of Hornell; sisters Lillian Ryan of Wayland, Dorothy Cambeis of Bath and Mary Loveland of Bath; daughter-in-law Laura Blowers of Baltimore, Maryland; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was pre-deceased by her son Douglas Blowers in 1994.

Friends may call Monday, Jan. 7, from 3-6 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home, 35 Main St., Hammondsport. Funeral and committal services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6 p.m. Father Peter Anglaaere will officiate and interment will be held at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Hammondsport Vol. Ambulance Corp. or the Hammondsport Vol. Fire Dept.

Nancy Elaine Farnsworth

TUCSON, Arizona - Nancy Elaine Farnsworth of Tucson, Arizona passed away Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008.

She was born Feb. 16, 1941 in Waterloo, the beloved daughter of the late Clarence and Glady's Chissom.

She was a former resident of Avoca where she graduated from Avoca Central School. Nancy resided in Tucson, Arizona for 37 years.

She was a member of the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church. Nancy unconditionally accepted Christ as her savior. Nancy enjoyed working for many years on her family genealogy.

She is survived by her loyal and devoted life long friend, Kenneth Smith of Tucson, Arizona, who has always been there for her.

Nancy's wishes were to have those she loved recognized.

She was predeceased by her father, Clarence Chissom, bus driver and head custodian for Avoca School; Gladys Chissom, loving mother and homemaker; and her brother David Chissom, Army Veteran, machinist of Mercury Aircraft and Country and Christian musician.

Memorial services were held on Feb. 19 at the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church, Tucson, Arizona.

Mary L. Beebe

BATH - Mary L. Beebe, age 79, of Whiting Street, Bath, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at the Taylor Health Center. She was born in Bath, April 12, 1928, the daughter of Elmer and Gladys Mills Fisk. She was retired Vinyardist from the Taylor Wine Company of Hammondsport. Mary enjoyed her gardening and making handmade gifts for many friends and family. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Bath.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Stuck of Port Byron, NY and Kathy Beebe of Bath; her son John (Kathryn) Beebe of Bath; nine grandchildren, Rodney, Melinda, Emily, Jody-Robin, Kyle, Trevor, Robert, Allan and Denise; seven great grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth Smith of Bath; and several nieces. She was predeceased by her two brothers, Henry and John.

A Communion Service was held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, at St. Mary's Church in Bath with Deacon Ray Defendorf officiating. Burial was held in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Mary's name may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231- 4596. Fagan's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.

Clarence L. Hyde

SAVONA - Clarence L. Hyde, 69, of Cty. Rt. 12, Savona (formerly of Kanona), passed away peacefully on Jan. 29, 2008 at the Cleveland Clinical Hospital in Ohio.

Surviving family includes his loving wife of 25 years, Florence Hyde and mother in law, Florence Earley, both of Savona; one daughter, Susan (Theodore) Morse of Wayne; one son, David (Jeanna) Hyde of Pulteney; step-daughter, Deb (Hollie) Fenton of Bath; grandchildren, Bambi Blodgett, Brad Jones, Chad Jones, Brittany Hyde, Scott Towner, Dan Smith, Buster Dunning, Brandi Williams; and nine great-grandchildren.

Family and friends were invited to attend the Memorial Service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Funeral service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at Kanona Fire Hall, Kanona. He will be laid to rest at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Harold E. Stocking

BATH - Harold E. Stocking, 90, of County Route 89, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the Taylor Health Center.

He was born Aug. 28, 1917 in Springfield, the son of Arthur and Mabel Armstrong Stocking.

Harold was an Navy Veteran of WWII, and a retiree of Westinghouse of Fairmount, West Virginia.

Surviving are his wife Velma Marteney Stocking; sons, Roy (Cindy) Stocking of Pulteney, Ronald (Jacky) Stocking of Virginia and Richard (Marge) Stocking of Kentucky; daughter, Norma Jean (Anthony) Fecori of West Virginia; 11 grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren.

He was pre-deceased by his son David Stocking of Lowville.

Friends were invited to a memorial service at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at the Hammondsport Methodist Church. Rev. Paul J. Rowley officiated. Interment will be held in the Bath National Cemetery with Military honors at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport.

Gordon C. Cady

BATH - Gordon C. Cady, 74, of 11 Fifth St., Canisteo, died Monday, March 20, 2006 at the Bath VA Medical Center.

He was employed in dairy farming in Mount Morris. Survivors include his wife, Eugertha Cady of Groveland; four sons, Brian Cady of Rexville, Leon Cady of Groveland, Alan Cady of Ohio, David Cady of Dansville; two brothers, Jack Cady and James Cady, both of Pennsylvania; a sister, Madeline Walters of Florida. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Bath VA Medical Center Chapel.

Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery. Arrangements are with Robertson Funeral Home, 354 Canisteo St., Hornell.

Anna Hohorst

MILTON, FLORIDA - Anna Hohorst, 1912-2006, 93, of Milton, Florida died Sunday, March 19, 2006 at Santa Rosa Medical Center, Milton, Florida.

A retired florist, Anna was born July 26, 1912 in Flushing, Long Island, New York. Anna and her husband Henry J. Hohorst, who predeceased her, moved from East Meadow, Long Island to Prattsburgh, New York in the Finger Lakes Region where they farmed and were wholesale florists. Anna was a floral designer and greenhouse manager for VanScoter Florist in Bath, New York prior to retirement. She moved to Milton, Florida in 1999. She was an active member of Home Bureau and the Home Extension Service for over 75 years and was a member of HCE Skyliners in Milton.

Predeceased by her sister Emily Somelofski (John) of Bar Harbor, ME.

She is survived by her sister, Julia Mabie (Floyd) of Punta Gorda, FL; son Dedrich C. (Dick) Hohorst of Milton; former daughter-in-law Karen Konz of Milton; special friend Jean Lewis of Milton; seven grandchildren, Andrew Rippel of Milton; Aaron Rippel of Norton, MA; Barbara Friscina of Rochester, NY; Lisa Bratton (Jacky), Christian Hohorst, and Kurt Hohorst (Kelly) of Virginia Beach, VA; Travis (Rene) Crider of Elizabeth City, NC; and twelve greatgrandchildren.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date at Bottoni Funeral Home, Prattsburgh, NY with interment at the Prattsburgh Cemetery.

Donnie Sowell Funeral Home of Milton is in charge of local arrangements.

Marlene H. Hay Mock

ROCHESTER - Marlene H. Hay Mock, 68, of Rochester, died Friday, March 17, 2006.

She was a former Bath VA employee.

Survivors include two daughters, Pamela McBride of North Carolina, Robin Mock of Rochester; a son, Jeff Mock of Rochester; a brother, Gordon Hay of Ohio.

Calling hours are 48 p.m. Monday at DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brighton United Church of Christ, Rochester. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Robert G. "Bob" Whitehead

HONEOYE FALLS - Whitehead, Robert G. "Bob", died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at age 86.

Bob was born March 1, 1920 to Fred & Pearl Damoth Whitehead. He graduated from Campbell Central School in 1939. Bob was a World War II Army Veteran and a decorated soldier, receiving three purple hearts and a bronze star. He enlisted November 21, 1942 after graduating from Alfred Ag Tech with a degree in Animal Husbandry. His enlistment was for the duration of the War, plus six months. After being discharged from the military, Bob went to work for Dairylea Milk Plant, first in Arkport and then in Rochester. Later he became the Public Works Superintendent for the Village of Honeoye Falls.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Marion; sister, Sarah Rockwood; and brother Kenneth.

He is survived by sons Craig (Faith) of Honeoye Falls, Danny (Barb), Jerry (June), Dale and their families; grandchildren Robert and Sarah Whitehead of Honeoye Falls; brother, Clifford "Skip" of Campbell; several nieces and nephews. He was a life member of the Honeoye Falls Fire Department.

A memorial service was held at the Merton H. Kays Funeral Home in Honeoye Falls on Friday, March 10 with burial in Union Cemetery in Livonia. Memorials may be made to the Honeoye Falls Fire Department, the Alzheimer's Association, or the charity of one's choice.

Jean Ouderkirk

FAIRPORT - February 27, 2006 Jean Ouderkirk died at Rochester General Hospital. Jean was born on June 14, 1927 to William and Bertha Johnson Ouderkirk in Bath. She was a 1945 graduate of Haverling High School.

Jean was employed as an office manager and retired after 40 years of service with Lawrence Group Insurance Co. in Bushnell's Basin. A longtime member of First United Methodist Church of West Webster, Jean was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Her hobbies are being an avid Red Sox fan, Jean also love cats and spent time traveling throughout the world, including Australia, Scotland and Scandinavia.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, William and Bertha Ouderkirk; sister, Helen Morrison. She leaves her brother-in-law, Donald (Judy) Morrison; nephews, Doug and David Morrison, Jay Baker; and niece, Deanna Baker.

A Memorial Service was held on March 4 at First United Methodist Church of West Webster with Rev. Jennifer K. Witt officiating. The interment was at Nondaga Cemetery in Bath.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church of West Webster, 570 Ridge Road, Webster, 14580.
