Claribel Ruth Eimers

SAVONA - Claribel Ruth Eimers of Savona passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2006 at Arnot Odgen Medical Center in Elmira.

Claribel was born September 1, 1918 in Ripley, NY, the daughter of the late Edward and Edwina (Russell) Rater. On October 13, 1937, she married Lewis Eimers. He predeceased her on August 31, 1989.

She was a homemaker who loved being able to be there for her family and often thought of others' needs before her own. Claribel enjoyed latchhooking, crossword puzzles, reading novels and non fiction, especially

books about birds, and taking long walks.

She is survived by her children, Raymond (Gloria) Eimers of Tonawanda, Diane (Wesley) Reese of Lockport, and Julie (Stephen) Dersham of Campbell; grandchildren, Rebecca (Todd) Welch of Painted Post, and Jason (Laurie Ballos) Dersham of Campbell; great grandson, Timothy Welch of Painted Post; brother - in - law, Guernon Eimers of Erie, Pennsylvania; sister - in - law, Ardella Johnson of Middleport, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Howard and sisters, Louella, Gladys, and Dorothy.

Claribel's family will receive friends on Saturday, March 25, 2006 from 1-3 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 West Pulteney Street, Corning, where her funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. David Peck officiating.

Burial will be at Bath National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, her family wishes to have memorials directed to Thurston Christian Church, 7511 Route 333, Campbell 14821 or Southern Tier Hospice & Palliative Care, 11751 East Corning Road, Corning 14830.

Russell Eugene "Rusty" Burkland

FAIRPORT - Russell Eugene "Rusty" Burkland, age 47, Passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, March 21, 2006.

He was born in Springville on August 15, 1958. Rusty graduated high school in Bath in 1976. He was a member of the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1981. He graduated from Brockport College in 1985. Rusty was employed as an accountant for Midwest Company.

Rusty was predeceased by his father, Eugene in 1985.

He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 15 years, Gail, and his three children, Ryan, 13, Lindsay, 12, and Marissa, 7. He is also survived by his mother and step father, Lois and Vernon Howe of McCormick, S o u t h Carolina; seven sisters and brothers; several brothers in law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.

Calling hours will be held Friday, March 24 from 5-9 p.m. at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt location), 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd, Fairport. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Assumption, Fairport. Interment will be held at White Haven Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rusty Burkland Memorial Fund, 144 Village Landing, #302, Fairport 14450-1804.

Alice J. Bolton

BATH - Alice J. Bolton, 62, of 26 Casey Lane, passed away March 26, 2006 at her home.

She was born November 4, 1943 in Bath to the late Floyd and Alma Conrad. Alice was retired from the office of Camp Monterey.

She is survived by her children, Brian (Brenda) Simon of Savona, and Tyna (Rick) Cummings of Bath; one sister-in-law, Jessie Conrad of Fla; one grandson, Derek Simons of Bath; two step-grandchildren, Rhonda Mesler of Pulteney, and Robert Mesler of Pensacola, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Alice was predeceased by her parents and two brothers.

Friends may call at Seager Jones Funeral Home, 4 E. Washington St., Bath on March 29 from 2-4 p.m. with a memorial service held immediately following at 4 p.m. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice's name may be made to the Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association.

Mildred L. Sick

WALLACE - Mildred L. Sick, 93 of Wallace, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning (March 29, 2006).

Born in Garwoods, NY on Apr. 25, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Ewart Lacy. In 1941 she was married to Milo "Mike" Sick, who predeceased her in 1991 after 50 years of marriage.

Mildred graduated from Geneseo Normal School in 1935 and taught sixth grade in Almond, NY. In 1939 she began teaching fifth grade at Alfred-Almond School. She later received her BS degree from Geneseo University. For 23 1/2 years she taught first grade at Avoca Central School, retiring in 1975. After being retired for one year she returned to Avoca Central School in the reading resource room for 10 years, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of the Wallace Wesleyan Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Her other memberships include the Avoca Retired Teachers Association and the New York State Teachers Association.

Her family includes her two children, Benjamin (Mary) Sick of Bath and Ellen (Jerry) Jimerson of Port Richey, FL; her five grandchildren, Cherry (Billy) Walker of Cohocton, Steve (Debbie) Zeh of Livonia, Kim (Leonard) Smith of Cohocton, Staci (Jon) Benge of Port Richey, FL, and Keri (Jimmy) Hinchon of MA; her 11 great grandchildren, Elisha and Jason Walker, Shawn (Kim) Sick, Kyle, Corey and Amanda Zeh, Jonha, Stephanie and Nathan Smith, Jessica Benge and Courtney Hinchon; her three sisters-in-law, Esther and Alta Lacy of Canaseraga, NY, and L a u ra Tracy of Hammondsport; also her nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Besides her parents and husband, Mildred was predeceased by her son, Allen Sick in 1980 and her three brothers, Hugh, Earl and Alton Lacy. Calling hours are from 37pm Monday at the Avoca Funeral Home, 22 N Main St, Avoca, where a funeral and committal service will be held at 1pm Tuesday with the Rev. Daniel Pickering officiating.

Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, Avoca.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may contribute in Mildred's memory to either the Wallace Wesleyan Church or to the Hernando Pasco Hospice, 12107 Majestic Blvd, Hudson, Fl 34667-2460.

Edna M. Erwin

BATH - Edna M. Erwin, 93, of Painted Post, died April 1, 2006 at the Steuben County Health Care Facility, Bath.

She was a former records department manager at the Corning Building Company. Survivors include two sons, David Erwin, Thomas Erwin.

A memorial service will be held at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St., Corning, at a later date.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Painted Post.

Sue A. Kuehner

CORNING - Sue A. Kuehner age 79, of Fuller Avenue Extension in Corning died April 2, 2006 at Corning Hospital.

Sue was born in Corning on April 12, 1926, to John and Nancy (Chervanyak) Senkulics and grew up on Myrtle Street now known as Hillvue Avenue. She married Edward Kuehner in 1949 at St. Mary's Church in Corning. She retired from Corning Glass Works in 1989 where she had worked as a environmental technician.

She loved to knit, sew, walking and working out at the Corning YMCA. Sue was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Church and a member of the Local 1000. Sue enjoyed running the Tallman's Shoe Club, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Her survivors include her husband Edward; three sons, Elmer (Fredaan) Kuehner of Campbell, Richard (Jeanette) Kuehner of Horseheads, and Thomas (Deborah) Kuehner of South Portland, Maine; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter Caitlyn O'Dell; many nieces and nephews. Sue was predeceased by her son Edward and five brothers.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 222 Dodge Avenue in Corning at 9:30 a.m. with Msgr. Ralph Kuehner officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning.

Mary B. Nelson

BATH - Mary B. Nelson, age 87, of Haverling Street, Bath, died, April 3, 2006 at the Steuben County Health Care Facility.

She was born in Brooklyn, October 8, 1918 the daughter of Harold and Louise Blend. Mary had worked in Health Care in the New York City and Long Island areas.

She is survived by her son Peter Nelson of Bath and was predeceased by her husband Samuel Nelson in 1982.

Arrangements are at the convenience of the family and handled by Fagan's Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers memorial donation's in Mary's name may be made to the Finger Lakes Humane Society, 7315 Route 54, Bath.

Virginia K. (Jean) Saltsman

HAMMONDSPORT - Virginia K. (Jean) Saltsman 63 of State Route 54, passed away April 6, 2006 at the home of her daughter. She was born September 7, 1942 in Corning. The daughter of Max and Felicia Viselli Patterson. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Saltsman Sr. Jean was a member of St. Gabriels Catholic Church in Hammondsport and had worked at Gold Seal Winery for many years.

Surviving are her daughters Brenda (Don) Personius of Hammondsport and Kelly (Rich) Bussmann of Hammondsport, her son Richard (Karen) Saltsman Jr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, mother Felicia Cummings of Hammondsport, sisters Martha (John) Berry of Emlenton, Pennsylvania, and Sandra Richards of Emporium, Pennsylvania, brothers Gene (Doreen) Patterson of Bath, Dean Patterson of Coopers Plains, Emery Cummings of Hammondsport and Thomas Cummings of Binghamton. Eight grandchildren, Mark, Cory and Lisa Saltsman, Heather Personius Luther and Eric Personius, Holly, Joe and Matt Bussmann. Three great-grandchildren, Hannah, Madison and Noah and several nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her father Max Patterson Sr. in 1985 and her brother Max Patterson Jr. in 2006.

Friends may call Saturday from 3-6 p.m. at the LaMarche Funeral Home of Hammondsport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at St. Gabriels Catholic Church in Hammondsport. Everyone is invited to a luncheon in the church hall after the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester 146095896 or to St. Gabriels Catholic Church.

Lawrence Carbone Sr.

BATH - Lawrence Carbone Sr., 86, died Monday, May 1, 2006.

He was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the Steuben Health Care Facility.

Survivors include his son, Lawrence Carbone Jr. of Danbury, Connecticut; a daughter, Joanne Moore of Beacon Falls, Connecticut.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bath National Cemetery, Chaplain Gerald Hamblin officiating.

Arrangements are with Bond-Davis Funeral Home.
