Mr. Carlton (Bing) Miller

CLYDE / LOCK BERLIN - Mr. Carlton (Bing) L. Miller, 86,
of 9207 Old Route 31, Lock Berlin, died Wednesday
(March 10, 2004) at Clifton Springs Hospital following an
extended illness.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday (March 12th)
from 5-8PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W. Genesee
St., Clyde. There will be a group visitation of the Clyde Fire
Department on Friday evening at 7:15 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (March 13th) at
11AM in the Clyde United Methodist Church with Rev.
Gordon Pearsall officiating. Spring burial will be in the
South Lyons Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the
Clyde Volunteer Fire Department.
Mr. Miller was born in Lyons, NY on May 21, 1917. He was
the son of the late William and Nellie Ahrens Miller.
Bing served in the US Army during World War II, and on
November 21, 1945 he married the former Elizabeth Kaiser.
Carlton was retired from the Parker Hannifin Corp of Lyons,
where he was employed for 20 years. Prior to his
employment there, he was employed by the General Electric
Corp in Clyde for many years. In his earlier days, Bing was
a school bus driver for Clyde Central School and he and his
brothers also operated a crop harvesting business for local
area farmers.
Mr. Miller was an active member of the Protective Hook and
Ladder Company of the Clyde Volunteer Fire Dept, joining
the department in May of 1954. This May would have
marked his 50 years of service to the Department.
Beginning in 1972, Carlton served as Fire Chief for several
years, and served as Assistant Chief for over 10 years. He
also held the offices of Captain and Lieutenant. He was a
member of the Wayne County Fire Chief's Association.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth of Lock Berlin, 3
daughters, Lorna (Ken) Cimineri of Clyde, Joyce (Michael)
Gardner of Lock Berlin and Sharon Morrison of Lock Berlin,
3 grandchildren, Bruce (Stephanie) DeLisio, Traci DeLisio
and Sean Gardner, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 step-
grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Gordon and
Kenneth Miller and one sister, Virginia Pierson.

Mrs. Thelma Mae Syron

CLYDE- Mrs. Thelma Mae Sayron, 96, of 205 Glasgow
St. died Saturday (May 29, 2004) at her home surrounded
by her loving family following an extended illness.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday
(June 2nd) from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Baris Funeral Home,
87 W. Genesee St., Clyde. Funeral services will be held
on Thursday (June 3rd) at 11AM at the funeral home with
Rev. Bob Searle officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove
Cemetery in Clyde.
Memorial contributions to the Clyde Volunteer Ambulance
Corps, P.O. Box 145 Clyde, NY 14433 would be
appreciated.
Mrs. Syron was born on October 25, 1907 in Lock Berlin.
She was the daughter of Arthur and Frances Stewart
Juffs. On January 14, 1933 she married the late William
Syron who pre-deceased her on February 24, 2001. She
was a lifetime resident of Clyde and an active member of
the Clyde United Methodist Church and it Gleaners Class.
Thelma was an active member of the Home Bureau, and
was a devoted wife, mother and grand-mother.
For many years, Mrs Syron was employed by the Clyde
School district working in the school cafeteria.
Surviving are one son, Mr. Maurice (Audrey) Syron of
Canandaigua, one brother Curtis (Monica) Juffs of
Clearwater, FL, one sister-in-law, Barbara Juffs of Lyons,
four grandchildren Sheila (Robert) Hemenway of Newark,
Nila (Lewis) Ellwanger of Clyde, Mark Syron of Seneca
Falls, and Craig (Connie) Syron of Newark and 7 great-
grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by her
daughter Betty Jean DeLeo and her brother Henry Juffs.

Mrs. Clara L. Gilkey

CLYDE- Mrs. Clara L. Gilkey, 94, formerly of 127
Glasgow St., died Friday (May 28, 2004) at the Wayne
County Nursing Home in Lyons.
Family and friends are invited to call on Monday (May
31st) from Noon to 2PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87
W. Genesee St. Clyde. Funeral services will follow at
2PM at the funeral home with Rev. Gordon Pearsall,
pastor of the Clyde United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will be on Tuesday at 10AM in the South Lyons
Cemetery, Lyons, NY
Memorial contributions to the Clyde Volunteer Ambulance
Corps, P.O. Box 145, Clyde, NY 14433 or to the Clyde
United Methodist Church, 84 Sodus Street, Clyde, NY
14433 would be appreciated.
Mrs. Gilkey was born in Nokomis, IL on June 2, 1909.
She was the daughter of William and Flora Walker
Morgan. She was married to the late Roy Gilkey, who
pre-deceased her in April of 1985. Clara was a resident of
Clyde for over 80 years, and was a devoted wife, mother
and grandmother. She was a member of the Clyde United
Methodist Church for most of her life.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Alma (Richard)
D'Amato of Clyde and Mrs. JoAnn McCarthy of Indiana,
PA., 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children and several
nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her
daughter, Eleanor Wilkins in October 1996, her brother,
Robert Morgan, and two son-in-laws Edgar Bob Wilkins in
March of 2001 and George McCarthy in 1993.

Mr. Everett W. Sears, Jr.

CLYDE / GENEVA - Mr. Everett W. Sears, Jr., 90, of 550
West North Street, Geneva, formerly of Clyde, died
Saturday (April 10, 2004) at the Geneva North Living
Center following an extended illness.
Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday (April
13th) from 5 to 7 PM. at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W.
Genesee St. Clyde. There will be a Masonic service
Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the funeral home. Funeral
services will follow at 7PM at the funeral home with the
Rev. Gordon Pearsall, pastor of the Clyde United
Methodist officiating. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove
Cemetery, Clyde, at a later date.
Memorial contributions to the Masonic Brotherhood Fund
c/o Clyde Masonic Lodge #341, Clyde, NY 14433 or to a
charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Everett was born in Beverly, MA on July 29, 1913. He
was the son of Everett W. and Carolyn Lenard Sears Sr.
Mr. Sears was a machinist by trade, but later on he
retired as a long distance truck driver, and was last
employed by the DiSanto Jet Gas Company of Clyde. He
was a member of the Clyde United Methodist Church.
Everett was an active member of the Free and Accepted
Masons. He was raised to Master Mason in the Clyde
F&AM Lodge #341 on June 9, 1986 and went on to
become Master of the Lodge. He was the Masonic Grand
Representative to the Country of Ecuador, and also was
active in the Order of the Eastern Star. Everett served as
Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Clyde
Lodge # 100, and later on became a member of the
Amitie Chapter # 473 of the Order of the Eastern Star. He
was pre-deceased by his first wife, Mary E. Helferich, his
second wife, Marjorie Kellogg and his son Richard Sears,
who died in December 2003. On June 4, 1983, he
married his present wife, the former Lucille Ingraham.
Surviving are his wife Lucille of Geneva, one son Robert
(Betty) Sears of FL., 3 daughters Ann (Vern) Moore of
Pahrump, NV, Nancy O'Donnell of Glastonbury, CT and
Janet (Joel) Karliner of Windsor, CT, one brother Paul
Sears of of Elk Grove, CA, one step-son, Scott (Janell)
Kellogg of Galena, MD, one step-daughter Donna (Frank)
Fischette of Lodi, five grandchildren Carrie (Marcello)
Allegra, Amy (Everett) Black, Susan (Tom) Goff, Andrew
Lennon and David Karliner, five step-grandchildren, 3
great-grandchildren and one step great granddaughter.

Mr. Anthony P. (Cheech) D'Amato

CLYDE - Mr. Anthony P. D'Amato, 83, of 203 Elm Street
died Sunday (December 19, 2004) at the Wayne County
Nursing Home surrounded by his family following a brief
illness.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday
(December 22nd) from 7-9 PM at the Baris Funeral
Home, 87 W. Genesee Street, Clyde. There will be a
group visitation of the Clyde VFW Post 947 on
Wednesday at 6:45PM. Burial will be
Thursday (Dec23rd) at 11:30AM in St. John's
Cemetery, Clyde.
Memorial contributions to the Clyde Volunteer Ambulance
Corps, PO Box 145 Clyde, NY 14433 would be
appreciated.
Mr. D'Amato was born in Clyde, NY on October 20, 1921.
He was the son of Thomas and Marianne DeSimone
D'Amato. Anthony was a veteran of World War II, serving
with the US. Marine Corps in Bougainville, Guam and Iwo
Jima. Cheech was a life member of the Bud Hinman Post
947 of the VFW in Clyde. Each year since his discharge
from the service in 1946, he proudly marched in the Clyde
Memorial Day Parade until 2001. On July 10, 1947 he
married the former Constance Pierce. Anthony was a
self-employed carpenter most of his life. One of his
greatest enjoyments was helping the youth in his
community.
He was a devoted husband, father, grand-father and
great-grand father.
Surviving are his wife of over 57 years, Connie D'Amato of
Clyde, 2 sons Richard A. D'Amato of Clyde and Scott D.
(Rochlene McGinn) D'Amato of Palmyra, 2 daughters,
Deborah M. D'Amato of Lock Berlin and Denise (Howard)
Tripp of Clyde, 2 sisters Freda Fratangelo of Lyons and
Edith (James) DeRenzo of Newark, 9 grandchildren, 6
great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
