Bruce D. Thorn

CLYDE- Mr. Bruce D. Thorn, 71, of 10297 Turnpike Rd,
died Thursday (March 2, 2006) at Newark Wayne
Community Hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
At Bruce's request there will be no prior calling hours.
Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral
service on Sunday (March 5th) at 3PM in the Junius
Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ellen Donnan Carroll
officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the convenience
of the family in South Lyons Cemetery, Lyons.
Memorial contributions to the Clyde Volunteer
Ambulance Corps, PO Box 145, Clyde, NY 14433 or to
the Clyde Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 266,
Clyde, NY 14433 would be appreciated.
Bruce was born in Savannah, NY on June 27, 1934 the
son of Joel and Margaretta Rogers Thorn. He was a
lifelong resident of Savannah and Clyde where he owned
and operated Thorn Farms for over 51 years. Mr. Thorn
was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Clyde Masonic
Lodge and past member of the American War Dads of
the Lyons VFW and a past member of the North Seneca
Sportsman Club. He loved his animals, collecting antique
guns and farm toys and patrolling the River Road.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy
Sheehan Thorn of Clyde, his sons Daniel, Rick (Tracy)
and Ronald (Amy) Thorn all of Clyde; his brothers,
Russell (Dolores) Thorn of Clyde and Joel Thomas
Thorn of Auburn; his sister Patricia (Rollie) DeMay of
Newark; his grandchildren Joshua (Missey) Thorn,
Danielle Thorn, Trish LaVere, Sarah Dombrowski,
Andrew and Ariel Thorn, Wyatt and Spencer Thorn and
his great grandson Tyler Thorn; many nieces, nephews,
in-laws and friends.
Bruce was pre-deceased by his parents, and his brothers
Robert Thorn and Reginald James Thorn
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baris
Funeral Home of Clyde.

Frederick D. Burley

ROSE- Mr. Frederick D. Burley, 87, formerly of 3591
Burley Road, died Tuesday (March 21,2006) at the
Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus with his family by
his side.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday (March
24th) from 4 to 7 PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W.
Genesee St., Clyde. Funeral services will be held on
Saturday (March 25th) at 11 AM in the Rose United
Methodist Church with the Rev. Marcia King officiating.
Burial will follow in Huron Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Rose Methodist Church or
the Rose Volunteer Ambulance Corps would be
appreciated.
Mr. Burley was born on October 6, 1918 in Rose, NY the
son of Frederick E. and Ethel LeFavor Burley. He was a
member of the Rose United Methodist Church, a member
of the Clyde Grange for over 50 years, a member of the
Wayne County Agriculture and Soil Conservation
Service, where he served as vice chairman for over 20
years, a member of the Wolcott Agway where he served
as a board member fo over 11 years and past Town of
Rose Assessor. Fred was a committee person of the Boy
Scouts of America and a lifelong member of NRA. Fred
was a lifelong self-employed dairy farmer.
He is survived by 2 daughters, Sue Gommer of Holley
Springs, NC, and Rosemary (Paul) Nevlezer of Marion,
his son Darrell (Elaine Sweet) Burley of Clyde, his step-
mother Lucille Burley of Knoxville, TN; his sisters,
Jeanette Harris of Wolcott, Helen Wagner of Ellicott City,
MD. and Brenda Wadley of Knoxville, TN. His wife's
children, Linda (David) Frank of Newark, Darlene (Jim)
Fischette of Ft. Myers, FL, Pamela (Bob) Iocco of
Newark, Mary-Beth Tyler of Newark,and Steven (Kathy)
Groat of Clyde, 10 grandchildren, Brett (Belinda) Burley,
Jason (Karen) Burley, David (Patty) Gommer, Sean
Burley, Benjamin Nevlezer, John Nevlezer, Peter
Nevlezer, David Nevlezer, Jenifer Gommer, and Megan
Gommer; 2 great grandchildren, Chase Gommer and
Isabella Burley; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Anna Groat Burley on
January 8, 2006 and his son Paul Burley on April 24,
1991.

David E. Schwartz

TYRE / CLYDE- David E. Schwartz, of 534 Pucker Rd. Waterloo, the one week old infant son of Enos and Katie Schwartz, died Sunday (March 26, 2006) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a brief illness.
Family and friends are invited to call at the home of Enos' brother at 1819 Tyre Rd, on Monday (March 27th) from 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (March 28th) at the home beginning at 1PM. Burial will follow in the Galen Amish Community Cemetery located on Anstee Rd., in the Town of Galen.
David was born on Sunday March 19, 2006 at home.
Surviving besides his parents, are grandparents, many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Baris Funeral Home of Clyde.

Herbert A. Horton, Jr.

CLYDE- Herbert A. Horton, 73, of 3000 Route 414 N,
died unexpectedly on Sunday (April 9, 2006) at Newark
Wayne Community Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday (April
13th) from 1-3 PM at the Baris Funeral Home, 87 W.
Genesee St., Clyde. Funeral services will be held
immediately following calling hours at the funeral home
with Rev. Dana Rattray, pastor of the Clyde Church of
Christ officiating. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery.
Contributions in his memory to the charity of your choice
would be appreciated.
Mr. Horton was born in Bath, NY on June 9, 1932, the
son of Herbert A. and Leola Humber Horton Sr. Prior to
moving to Clyde in 1975, he was a resident of Red Creek
and Wolcott. He had retired from the Parker-Hannifin
Aerospace Technology Corporation in Clyde where he
was employed as a machinist for many years. Herbert
served in the Navy from 1949 to 1953, and was a life
member of the Wolcott American Legion Post 881. He
was also a life member of the Lyons Rod and Gun Club.
Herbert was a an avid hunter, fisherman and bowler and
enjoyed playing guitar. He was a back-up singer for Bill
and the Wheels.
Surviving are his wife Nancy Merithew Horton of Clyde
who he married on August 16, 1975. His son Michael
Horton of Clyde, his daughters, Pamela (Chuck) Norris of
Corning, Jacqueline Burt of Silverton, Oregon, Karin
Horton of Lyons and Anita Horton of Clyde. His brother,
George (Catherine) Horton of Rochester; 9
grandchildren, 1 great-grandson and several nieces,
nephews and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his parents, his son Gary
Horton in 1966 and his sister Madge Horton.

Marie M. Smith

CLYDE- Mrs. Marie M. Smith, 92, formerly of 65 Lock
Street and North Rose, died Saturday (April 22, 2006) at
the Wayne County Nursing Home with her loving family
at her side.
Family and friends are invited to call on Friday
(April28th) from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Baris Funeral Home,
87 W. Genesee St. Clyde. Funeral services will be held
on Saturday (April 29th) at 1 PM at the funeral home with
the Rev. James Houtz, Pastor of the Sunnyside Baptist
Church officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the Clyde Volunteer
Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 145, Clyde, NY 14433 or to
the Wayne County Nursing Home1529 Nye Rd., Lyons,
NY 14489 would be appreciated.
Mrs. Smith was born on March 6, 1914 in Sleepy Creek,
West Virginia, the daughter of James and Minnie
McCarty Hovermale. She had been a resident of North
Rose for many years before moving to Clyde. She was a
member of the Sunnyside Baptist Church in North Rose.
Her two most beloved hobbies were her children and
grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was formerly employed by
Ricelli Brothers Apple Farms of North Rose.
Surviving are 4 sons, Roger (Donna) Smith of Bristol,
TN., Homer (Patricia) Smith of Clyde, Charles (Judy)
Smith of Rochester, and David (Linda) Smith of Chicago,
IL; 2 daughters, Mildred (Junior) Powell of Shippensburg,
PA, and Mary Fletcher of Henrietta, NY. 14
grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great
grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased byt her parents, her sisters Orphy
Wahl and Margurite Unger and her brother Bud Pottner.

Lucy Adamson

CLYDE- Mrs. Lucy M. Adamson, 75, of 37 Duncan Street
died Sunday (April 23, 2006) at Newark Wayne
Community Hospital following an extended illness.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday
(April 26th) from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Baris Funeral
Home, 87 W. Genesee St. Clyde. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (April 27th) at
11AM in St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church with the
Rev. James Hewes officiating. Burial will follow in St.
John's Cemetery, Clyde.
Memorial contributions to the St. John's Church
Memorial Fund, 114 Sodus St., Clyde, NY 14433 would
be appreciated.
Mrs. Adamson was born in Clyde, NY on July 28, 1930,
the daughter of Antonio and Mary Liseno Loder. She was
a lifetime member of St. John's Church. Lucy was a past
member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and was
an avid bowler. On July 4, 1957 she married Samuel
Adamson, who pre-deceased her on February 20, 1994.
She was well known in the community for the beauty
shop that she ran from her home on Duncan Street. In
her later years, she could be seen cooking at Loder's
Restaurant in Savannah.
Surviving are her children Dawn (David) Gould and Sam
(Tina) Adamson both of Clyde; her sisters Phyllis (David)
Miller of Camillus and Anna DiSanto of Macedon; her
brother Michael (Dorotha) Loder of Clyde; her
grandsons, David (Jessica) Gould of Lyons, Ryan Gould,
Andrew Adamson and Jared Adamson all of Clyde; her
great-grandson Ethan Gould and several nieces,
nephews and friends. She was also survived by her
special friends, Richard Renner and Angie Fratangelo
and her "Honorary granddaughter" Tracy Paylor.
Besides her parents and husband, she was pre-
deceased by several brothers and sisters.
