Beulah Harris Henry

1899 ~ 2003

Durham, NC - Mrs. Beulah Harris Henry, age 103, of Durham, NC, formerly of Elba, died peacefully in her sleep following a brief illness on Sunday, February 16, 2003, at Croasdaile Village Retirement Home in Durham, North Carolina.

Mrs. Henry was born September 7, 1899 in the Town of Allen, NY, the daughter of the late William A. and Jennie Riley Harris.

She was a 1918 graduate of the Almond High School, and a 1921 graduate of Geneseo Normal School. After teaching district school for 2 years, she moved to Buffalo, NY, where she worked for the Kittenger Furniture Company as Supervisor of their Cost and Payroll Department.

On August 17, 1929, she married Roy Edward Henry of Buffalo. They soon moved to Elba where she was an active partner with her husband in the operation of a muck farm and a small machinery sales business until retirement and his death on May 28, 1988.

She had been a member of the Short Tract Methodist Church since 1914. She was also a charter member of the Maple Grove Chapter 630 Order of Eastern Star at Short Tract, NY.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha (Alexander) Polischuck-Sawtschenko of Raleigh, NC, two grandsons, Michael Sawtschenko of Delray Beach, Florida and Stephen (Elizabeth) Sawtschenko of Phoenix, AZ; a granddaughter, Katherine (David) Nowak of Port Isabel, TX; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 12 to 2 p.m Monday, February 24, 2003 at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, immediately followed by services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Albion Cemetery, Albion, NY. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Croasdaile Village Residents Council, Birdwatchers Group, 2600 Croasdaile Farm Parkway, Durham, NC 27705 or to the Short Tract United Methodist Church, 10427 Country Road 15, Fillmore, NY 14735.

Miss Margaret S. Barone "Maggie"

Batavia - Margaret S. "Maggie" Barone, age 84, of Batavia, an inspector at Doehler-Jarvis in Batavia, died Sunday, March 9, 2003, at the Genesee County Nursing Home.
Miss Barone was born December 1, 1918 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Louis and Sarah Cottichio Barone.
She was a member of St. Anthony´s Church in Batavia, the Altar and Rosary Society of the church and Our Lady of Loretto Society. She was a member of the quarter century club of Doehler-Jarvis, where she retired from in 1974 after 32 years of service. She enjoyed bowling and baking, and while growing up Miss Barone played softball where she was an outstanding pitcher.
Surviving are two brothers, Louis (Mary) Barone and Lawrence (Angeline) Barone, both of Batavia; three sisters-in-law, Josephine Barone, Mary Barone and Josephine Barone, all of Batavia; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews
She was a sister of the late Frank "Fritz", Philip, Anthony, Florence, Joseph, James, Dominic and Peter Barone.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Prayers at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, Western New York Chapter, 1284 French Road, Depew, NY 14043-4882 or to St. Anthony's Church, 122 Liberty Street, Batavia, NY 14020.

Mrs. Mary D. Faugh

Bergen - Mrs. Mary D. Faugh, age 88, of Bergen, a Registered Nurse for 50 years prior to her retirement in 1980, died Friday, March 7, 2003, at her home while under Homecare and Hospice.

Mrs. Faugh was born June 6, 1914 in Goner, Manitoba, Canada, a daughter of the late Michael and Katherine Kotyluk Danko.

She graduated from Selkirk High School and worked at Selkirk Mental Hospital in Manitoba, Canada. On a scholarship, she studied for her Registered Nurse´s Training in Salinas, California, later moved to the Chicago area and worked at St. Luke´s Presbyterian Hospital and Michael Reese Hospital as head surgical nurse. She also worked in Berwyn Illinois where she met her husband. She stopped working to marry and raise a family but later returned to work as an registered nurse in LeRoy.

Her husband, Louis J. Faugh, died May 3, 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn (David) Fieret of LeRoy and Karen (Richard) Fisher of Bergen; two grandsons, Gregory Fisher and Daniel Fisher, both of Bergen; a brother, Joseph (Mary) Danko of Atikokan, Ontario; two sisters, Anne Shewchuk of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Emilie Weiler of Tucson, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

She is the sister of the late John Danko and Stella Stem.

There are no prior calling hours. Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Creekside Cemetery, Churchville. Memorials may be made to Homecare & Hospice, 550 E. Main St., Batavia, NY 14020. Arrangements were completed by H.E. Turner & Co., Funeral Home of Bergen.

E. Mae Hamm

Batavia - Mrs. E. Mae Hamm, age 87, of Batavia, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia, died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hamm was born September 30, 1915 in Batavia, a daughter of the late William A. and Emma Brinkman Hartman.

Her husband, Gordon A. Hamm, died in 1994.

Mrs. Hamm is survived by several nieces and nephews including Barbara Hartman, Norman Hartman, John Hartman and Tom Hartman all of Ft. Myers Fla.

She was the mother of the late Jay Alan Hamm who died in 1969 and sister of the late Norman and Lester Hartman and Felmer Hartman Pashong.

Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will follow at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Maplelawn Cemetery, Elba in the spring. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Marian J. Huber

Byron - Mrs. Marian J. Huber, age 87, of Byron, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Huber was born February 23, 1916 a daughter of the late Earl and Jean Stedman Pocock.

She was a member of Bergen United Methodist Church.

Her husband, Elmer Huber, died in 1986.

Mrs. Huber is survived by three daughters, Jean Ann (John) Acquilano of Brandon, MS, Brenda Leach of Bath, NY and Elaine Brown of Evans, GA; a son, Kevin (Elizabeth Bentley-) Huber of Corfu; a sister, Eleanor Hay of Bergen; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is the sister of the late Robert Pocock.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen where services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Byron Rescue Squad, PO Box 210, Byron, NY 14422 or Bergen United Methodist Church, 27 South Lake Street, P.O. Box 216, Bergen, NY 14416.

Roger G. Baker

East Pembroke - Roger G. Baker, age 50, of East Pembroke, formerly of Byron, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Baker was born August 22, 1952 in Batavia, a son of Doris Durney Baker of Batavia and the late Stewart Baker.

He attended the East Pembroke Federated Church, was a past member of the Byron Fire Department and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Along with his mother, survivors include his wife, Cathy Driggs Baker, whom he married September 21, 1974; two daughters, Cassandra Baker and Christine Baker, both of East Pembroke; two brothers, James S. (Ruth) Baker of Tennessee and Larry B. (Linda) Baker of Kentucky; a sister, Marlene D. (Kenneth) Jones of LeRoy; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is the father of the late Richard Baker.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in in Hillside Cemetery, East Pembroke. Memorials may be made to the Activities Fund at Batavia Nursing Home, 257 State Street, Batavia, New York 14020.

Mrs. Joan E. Crimando

Batavia - Mrs. Joan E. Crimando, age 73, of Bergen, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Crimando was born February 15, 1930 in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Frank G. and Elizabeth Franz Hilbert.

Mr. And Mrs. Crimando were married April 26, 1952 in St. Joseph´s Church in Batavia. For many years the Crimandos were the chairpersons of the doll booth at the annual lawn fete of the church. She was an avid swimmer and taught swimming to the young through the Red Cross program and to the senior citizens through the Senior Center Program. She graduated from Batavia High School in 1948

Mrs. Crimando is survived by her husband, Gasper Crimando of Bergen; three sons, Thomas I. Crimando of Bergen, Frank M. (Lisa) Grimaudo of Maryland and Joseph (Lisa) Crimando of Colorado; three daughters, Susan E. (Rodney) Bobo of Bergen, Nancy J. (Daniel) Sherman of Livonia, Cheryl A. (Mark) Regan of Virginia; a brother, Robert (Eileen) Hilbert of Batavia; a sister, Gloria Clor of California; a sister-in-law, MaryAnn Hilbert of Connecticut and nine grandchildren

Mrs. Crimando is predeceased by her brother Frank Hilbert.

Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church followed by burial in St. Joseph's Mausoleum. Eugene Carl Richley Sr.

BATAVIA - Eugene Carl Richley Sr., age 70, of Batavia, an employ at Pembroke Service Area, E. Pembroke, prior to his retirement, died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Richley was born October 16, 1932 in Batavia, a son of the late Frederick and Evelyn Haddon Richley.

Mr. Richley is survived by his wife, Gail Ann Baker Richley, whom he married February 21, 1958; two sons, Eugene (Chrisie) Richley Jr. of Wyoming, NY and Ronald (Cheryl) Richley of South Carolina; two daughters, Tina (Charles) Raineri of Canastota and Lori (William) May of Watertown; two sisters, Evelyn Smout of Clearwater, Florida and Elaine Volk of Rochester; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He is the father of the late Danny Richley, and brother of the late Harley, Lyle and Bobby Richley.

Friends may call from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Robert (JD) J. Henry

Oakfield - Robert (JD) J. Henry, age 83, of Oakfield, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at United Memorial Medical Center after a brief illness.

Mr. Henry was born January 16, 1920 in Caledonia, the son of the late William and Etta Garry Henry.

Mr. Henry served with the US Army during WW II. He belonged to the 2nd Armored Division; “Hell on Wheels” and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Among the medals he received were the European, African and Middle Eastern Service Medals with the Bronze Arrowhead and the Purple Heart.

His wife Bertha, preceded him in death. He is survived by his companion of many years, Helen Dunn of Oakfield; two brothers Kenneth Henry of Alabama and John Henry of Batavia; 6 sisters; Doris Henry of Caledonia, Viola DeBoover of Geneva, Alice (Joseph) Vanelli of Batavia, Arlene Charlanza of Batavia, Elizabeth (Lloyd) Gibson of North Carolina and Edith (Anthony) Vianese of Lima. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.

He was the brother of the late George, Francis and William Henry, Eleanor Redinger and Marian Brew.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 12:00 PM Friday, June 27, 2003 at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home. Burial will be in Alabama Cemetery, Alabama, NY. Memorials may be made to UMMC Foundation, 207 Summit St. Batavia, NY 14020.

Albert H. Beuler

Batavia - Albert H. Beuler, age 83, of Batavia, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mr. Beuler was born August 12, 1919 in New York City, NY, the son of the late William and Margaret O´Neil Beuler.

Mr. Beuler retired in 1982 from Graham Manufacturing where he was the head of the purchasing department. He was a member of St. Joseph´s Church, American Legion - Glenn S. Loomis Post, Graham Retirees Association and the Tonawanda Valley Kennel Club. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

A veteran, he served six years with the Navy in World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Green Beuler, whom she married October 4, 1952; two brothers, William (Mary) Beuler of Oakfield, NY and Robert (Helene) Beuler of Conesus, NY; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm Wednesday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, July 3, 2003 at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Grand View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Lung Association, 210 John Glenn Dr., Buffalo, NY 14228.
