Donald W. Naegely

Batavia - Donald W. Naegely, age 86, a retired insurance salesman for the Met Life Insurance Company died Monday, January 15, 2007, at the New York State Veteran's Home.

He was born February 6, 1920 in Akron, the son of the late Ernst and Stacia Beeman Naegely.

Mr. Naegely was member of the First Baptist Church of Batavia since 1946 where he was active in many affairs of the church and served as Steward and Trustee. He was an avid golfer, bowler, a Batavia Muck Dog and Batavia Clippers fan having held seasons tickets for many years. He was the former owner of Don’s Dinette and the Sweet Shoppe both located on Main St. in Batavia.

He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

Mr. Naegely is survived by his wife, Doris Ziegler Naegely whom he married on March 25, 1944; five sons, Douglas Naegely of Michigan, Eric Naegely of Batavia, Paul (Stella) Naegely of New Jersey, Brian (Robin) Naegely of Colorado and Karl Naegely of New York; two daughters, Nancy (Fred) Parody of Massachusetts and Martha (James) Morasco of Batavia; a sister, Dorothy Gay of Liverpool; 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 on Thursday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at First Baptist Church of Batavia. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Grand View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Batavia, 306 East Main Street, Batavia, New York, 14020 or a charity of the donor's choice.

Jack C. Miller

Byron - Mr. Jack Clifford Miller, 79, of Byron, died Sunday, January 7, 2007 at Lakeside Memorial Hospital, in Brockport.

He was born August 2, 1927 in Elba, a son of the late Lloyd and Hazel (Ellingham) Miller.

Mr. Miller worked at O and E, Railway Signal and Tri County Ford. He was a Byron Councilman, director of Conesus Milk Producers, trustee and superintendent of North Byron Cemetery and also attended Elba Central School. Mr. Miller was a member of the North Bergen Presbyterian Church, where he was a trustee. Also, along with his wife, Mr. Miller owned and operated a farm in Byron for many years. In 1978 they moved to their new home on North Byron Road and have also spent 19 years in Florida. In 2000, he received the Man of the Year Award.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Newcomb) Miller, of Byron; one daughter, Nancy J. Warner of Batavia; one son, David J. (Jean) Miller of Bergen; two sisters-in-law, Rosalee Miller of Batavia and Marjorie Bennett of Binghamton; a brother-in-law, Robert Newcomb of Wayland; dear friends, Rick (Elaine) Bezon and family, of Byron; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

He is the brother of the late Leola Falker, Leanne Miller, Ralph Miller and brother-in-law of the late Glenn Newcomb.

Friends may call Tuesday (today) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen, where services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Burial will be in North Byron Cemetery. Memorials may be made to North Bergen Presbyterian Church, 7068 North Bergen Road, Bergen, New York, 14416 or Byron Rescue Squad, P.O. Mrs. Judy Ruth Sullivan McPhail

Cooperstown - Mrs. Judy Ruth Sullivan McPhail, 89, of Cooperstown, formerly of Batavia, died Thursday, January 4, 2007 at The Clara Welch Thanksgiving Home in Cooperstown.

She was born March 20, 1917, in Spuyten Duyvil, The Bronx, New York, the daughter of the late William Francis and Margaret Louise Eppenetter Sullivan.

The family is grateful for the loving care she received at The Clara Welch Thanksgiving Home, as well as by the staff from the Catskill Area Hospice.

She was married to Raymond E. McPhail, Sr., who died in 1998.

Survivors include her son, Raymond (Mary Jo) McPhail, Jr. of Cooperstown; her granddaughter, Leslie M. (Bartow, Jr.) Morgan; two great-grandsons, Bartow Morgan III and Moultrie Everett Morgan of Atlanta, Ga.; and a grandniece, Cheryl A. Sullivan Fox of Hackettstown, N.J.

She was the sister of the William, Margaret, James and Dorothy Sullivan.

There are no prior calling hours. Memorial services will be held at a later date at St. James Episcopal Church, 405 East Main Street, Batavia. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Clara Welch Thanksgiving Home Fund, 48 Grove Street, Cooperstown, New York 13326; Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 542 Main Street, Oneonta, New York 13820; Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis Tennessee, 38105, the American Heart Association; or the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Martha Ann Kalmbacher

South Byron - Mrs. Martha Ann Kalmbacher, 54, of South Byron, formerly of Beech Grove, Indiana, an accountant at T&L Automatic in Rochester, died Monday, January 1, 2007 at the Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo where she had been a patient for several months.

She was born May 19, 1952 in Beech Grove, Indiana, the daughter of the late John B. and Mary Jane (Carpenter) Agal.

She had been employed at T&L for 12 years prior to her illness and was previously employed at Monroe Co-Op Insurance in Rochester.

Her husband, David G. Kalmbacher, died December 22, 2006.

Survivors include her step-son, Sege D. (Paula) Kalmbacher, Sr. of Byron; three brothers, Steven R. (Janet) Agal of Indianapolis, In., Terry L. (Kay) Agal of Muskegon, Mi. and John Jeffrey (Anna) Agal of Greencastle, In.; her step-brother, Larry G. Striebeck of Indianapolis, In., her grandson, Sege D. Kalmbacher, Jr.; her former husband, Harry D. (Carol Hannah) Snyder of Brockport; his daughter, Elizabeth Martha Snyder of Brockport; nephews, Kevin R., Timothy R., & John Ross Agal; nieces, Elizabeth A. & Kimberly L. Agal; and a step-niece, Alison Pressler.

Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, followed by burial in Byron Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Women's and Children's Hospital, Division of Genetics, 219 Bryant Street, Buffalo, New York 14222 or to the Genesee County Animal Shelter, 3829 West Main Street Road, Batavia, New York 14020.

Harold W. Greening

Batavia - Mr. Harold W. Greening, 82, a retired employee of the New York Central Railroad, died Sunday, January 7, 2007, in Batavia in the same home he was born in on May 5, 1924.

His parents were the late Edward and Maude Getman Greening.

Mr. Greening was also employed at the former Minor Appliance Store for over 30 years. He was a member and elder at the Elba Presbyterian Church, President of the Elmwood Cemetery Association, the Loyal Order of the Moose and R.S.V.P. of Genesee County.

Survivors include his wife; Charlotte L. Spaulding Greening whom he married on July 3, 1949; one daughter, Diane (Andrew) Eldridge and one son, Nelson (Nancy) Greening, both of Batavia. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Corinne (Preston) Ptak, Kathryn (John) Iannello, Nelson E. Greening, II and Brian J. Greening; 3 great-grandchildren, Rebekah and Braeden Ptak and Grace Iannello. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews also survive. He was the brother of the late Robert, Getman and Oliver Wolff, Gladys Moseholder, Ruth Chapman, Elsie Stoppelbein and Evelyn Magee.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, (please note days), at the Elba Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to Elba Presbyterian Church, 23 N. Mr. Charles R. Brumsted, Sr.

Ocala, Fla. - Mr. Charles R. Brumsted, Sr., age 66, of Ocala, Florida, formerly of Batavia, a retired carpenter in commercial construction, died Sunday, December 31, 2006 at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala.

He was born November 15, 1940 in Batavia, a son of the late Walter and Maud (McCulloch) Brumsted.

Mr. Brumsted moved to Ocala 10 years ago from Batavia. He was a member of Carpenter Union Local #85 for over 40 years and Ironworkers Union Local #33, both of Rochester. He was a member of the North Central Florida APA Pool League for five years (at Bankshot Billiards) and played in the Masters Division for the past year.

He served in the Army from 1958 to 1960.

Survivors include his wife, June L. Stratton Brumsted; three sons, Charles Brumsted, Jr. of Batavia, David (Liz) Brumsted of Byron and Robert (Laurie) Brumsted of LeRoy; a brother, John (Pat) Brumsted of Batavia; four sisters, Doris Rich of Ocala, Fla., Ellie (Ed) Margeson of Sanford, N.C., Norma (Robert) Graves of Boynton Beach, Fla. and Sharon (Greg) Treder of Sebewaing, Mi.; five grandchildren, Cameron, Catherine, Alexander, David & Bianca Brumsted and several nieces and nephews.

He is the brother of the late Mary Vigiaro who died in 2001.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ocala, Florida and from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia. Mr. Eugene W. Barber

Batavia - Mr. Eugene W. Barber, 68, of Batavia, retired maintenance worker for the Department of Public Works for the City of Batavia, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at his home.

He was born January 24, 1938 in Elba, a son of the late Frank and Beatrice Barber.

Mr. Barber enjoyed gardening, especially his roses and loved the outdoors. He retired from the Department of Public Works after 28 years.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Cheryl Rivers Barber; his children, Matthew (Terry) Barber, James (Virginia) Barber, both of Batavia, Frank (Diana) Barber of Germany, Denise Hill, Adam Barber and Kevin Hill, all of Batavia; two brothers, LaVerne (Kathy) Barber of Batavia and Charles (Charlotte) Draper of Stafford; two sisters, Hazel Howard of Rochester and Shirley (Paul) Heiderman of Akron; a sister-in-law, Eugina Barber of Akron; 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Clara Barber who died in 1980 and was the brother of the late Floyd Barber.

Friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, 2113 Chili Avenue, Rochester, New York 14624.

Michael C. Napoleone

Michael C. Napoleone, eight years old of Batavia, came home December 30, 2006 after a long courageous battle. He was born May 13, 1998 in Batavia, the son of Mark A. and Laurie (Pero) Napoleone.

He played Batavia Youth baseball for the Angels and now truly lives among the angels. He played Youth Football and was a devoted Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan. He attended the University of Notre Dame on his Make-A-Wish trip in October. He enjoyed drawing, Yu-Gi-Yo-, videogames and just being a kid. A third grader at St. Joseph’s School he loved being with his friends. His favorite times were spent with his siblings. He was fun, witty and an inspiration to people of all ages.

In addition to his parents he is survived a brother Mark A, Jr., two sisters, Ashley and Christen and his grandfathers, Charles (late Marien) Pero and Donald A. (late Joan) Napoleone. He was the nephew of Charles (Linda) Pero, Adelyn Pero, Kathy (Robert) Manning and Mary Theresa Napoleone. Also surviving are his Godparents, Uncle Dave (Trish) Pero and Anne Marie Suttell.

Friends may call on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 7 pm at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Prayers will be at 11:30 Thursday at the H. E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation of WNY, 5500 Main St., Williamsville, NY 14221; Notre Dame High School, 73 Union St. Batavia, NY 14020; Golisano’s Children Hospital, 4-3600 Pediatric Unit, 601 Elmwood Ave. Rochester, NY 14642 or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 4053 Maple Rd. Amherst, NY 14226.

Mr. David R. Goodwin

Batavia - Mr. David R. Goodwin, 56, of Batavia, dishwasher at Sunny's Restaurant in Batavia, died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at Shorewinds Nursing Home in Rochester.

He was born June 9, 1950 in Batavia, a son of Marion Blood Goodwin of Batavia and the late Earl Goodwin.

Mr. Goodwin enjoyed walking and composed and wrote music.

Surviving along with his mother are two brothers, Wayne (Marlene) Goodwin of Henrietta and Douglas Goodwin of Batavia; a nephew, Douglas Goodwin, Jr. of North Carolina and aunts and uncles survive.

He was the brother of the late Paul Goodwin who died September 27, 2002.

Friends may call on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Youth Groups at Batavia Assembly of God Church, 24 North Spruce Street, Batavia, New York 14020.
