Miss Mary Strollo

BATAVIA - Miss Mary Strollo, age 80, of Batavia, a factory worker at R.E. Chapin Manufacturing Co. in Batavia for over 40 years, died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Strollo was born May 19, 1925 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Polcarpo and Antonia Fortunato Strollo.

A member of St. Anthony´s Church, she volunteered at the nursery at St. Jerome Hospital and was an avid bowler on the Wednesday Night League.

Miss Strollo is survived by two brothers, Anthony (Lucy) Strollo of Florida and Patsy (Barbara) Strollo of Batavia; a sister, Lucy Bucciferro of Batavia; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was the sister of the late Modesto and George Strollo.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia.

Prayers at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church.

Entombment will be in Msgr. Francis Schwartz Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Church, 122 Liberty Street, Batavia, New York 14020, Genesee County, 278 Bank Street, Batavia, New York 14020 or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Edith G. Schiano

Churchville - Mrs. Edith G. Schiano, age 84, of Churchville, died Sunday, January 22, 2006, at Unity Health System´s Genesee Street Campus at St. Mary’s.

Mrs. Schiano was born November 8, 1921 in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of the late Otto and Margaret Krausewitz.

She was a former member of the Chili Moose Club and the Chili Post of the American Legion.

She is predeceased by her first husband, Ernst Jaensch who died in 1963 and her second husband, Dominic Schiano who died in 1974.

Surviving are a daughter, Gerda (David) Cassara of Bergen, 2 grandchildren, Larry (Mary) Cassara of Spencerport and Deena (Tom) Rodregus of Greece; 6 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Brigid's Church in Bergen. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Western New York Chapter, 2805 Wehrle Dr. Ste. 6, Williamsville, NY 14221-7380

Kenneth Gary Rapalee

Stafford - Kenneth Gary Rapalee, age 65, of Stafford, an electronic technician who worked in Genesee and Monroe county, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at the Buffalo V.A. Medical Center.

Mr. Rapalee was born May 24, 1940 in Brockport, the son of the late Kenneth Rapalee and Evelyn (Johnson) Baker of Yuma, Arizona.

He was an avid motorcycle rider and was a member of the Harley Club.

A veteran, he served with the U.S. Navy.

Surviving along with his mother are his three children, Michele Rapalee of Brockport, Paul Rapalee of Rochester and Stephen Rapalee of Bergen ; a sister, Karen Maldonado of Phoenix, Arizona ; a step-brother, Ronald Baker of Yuma, Arizona; his ex-wife, Arlene (Rapalee) Peone of Brockport and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is predeceased by a sister, Joann Ragghiante and a brother-in-law, Charles Ragghiante.

There are no prior calling hours.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bergen United Methodist Church, 27 South Lake Street, Bergen.

Memorials may be made to donor's choice to any U.S. Veteran’s Organization.

Eleonor McGlynn

Batavia - Mrs. Eleonor McGlynn, age 92, a retired teacher in Jersey City Schools, NJ, died Thursday, January 26, 2006, at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility.

Mrs. McGlynn was born February 27, 1913 in Jersey City, NJ, the daughter of the late Jeremiah and Ellen Hoban Hogan.

She was a member of St. Mary´s Church, St. Joseph Sodality and the St. Jeromes Guild where she volunteered in the gift shop.

She was the wife of the late John McGlynn and sister of the late Genevieve Lynch, Rose and Mary Hogan.

Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ellen (Deacon Thomas) Casey of Batavia; grandchildren Christopher (Gretchen) Casey, Kathleen (Robert) Danesh, Kevin (fiancee, Elizabeth Schick) Casey and Meghan Casey and great grandchildren, Anna & Sarah Danesh and Aiden Casey.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 pm Sunday, January 29th at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.

St. Joseph Sodality will recite the Rosary on Sunday at 1:45 pm.

Prayers will be Monday at 9:30 am at the H. E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church.

Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, LeRoy.

Mrs. Lucille May Houser

Batavia - Mrs. Lucille May Houser, age 81, of Batavia, a practical nurse at Hilltop Nursing Home, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at the home of her daughter in Niskayuna, NY, while under the care of Hospice.

Mrs. Houser was born May 24, 1924 in North Evans.

She was a 1942 graduate of Angola High School.

Her parents, William and Amelia Swift Bushen, step father, Irving Myers, brother Howard Bushen and step daughter, Christine (Gordon) Kerin preceded her in death.

She was married to Warren Plock in 1946 until his death in 1960 and then was married to Blair Houser from 1966 to his death on February 26, 2001.

She spent her adult life taking care of others: teens at the Goodyear Convalescent Home in Buffalo, NY, Elderly residents of Hilltop and Customers at Ray Vin’s Cleanland in Batavia.

She loved and was loved deeply by her three children, William (Janet) Plock of Owego, NY, Marsha (John) Plock Miller of Niskayuna, NY and Walter (Ellen) Plock of Schenectady, NY; two sisters, Gertrude Colvin of Silver Creek, NY and Bertha (Rudy) Kashino of North Evans, NY; 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She loved to cook for people, send cards, new and recycled, read the Psalms, send packages to her family, serve at her church, the First United Methodist Church of Batavia and deliver gifts to children of inmates through Project Angel Tree.

Her name means, “light” and she was a shining example of the love and light of God through her generous and optimistic Spirit.

There are no calling hours.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church of Batavia.

Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia, NY 14020.

Arrangements were completed by H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home of Batavia.

Mrs. Anne D. Forsyth

Batavia - Mrs. Anne D. Forsyth, age 83, of Batavia, died January 21, 2006, at the Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Forsyth was born October 26, 1922, in Batavia, a daughter of the late Anthony and Martha Yasses Dziados.

A member of St. Joseph's Church in Batavia, she was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #950 in Batavia, Veteran's of Foreign War Post No. 1602 and the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post No. 332.

She lived in Orlando for 27 years where she made many friends and enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Wayne Page and Paul Forsyth.

Surviving are her dear friend, Jim Hanley of Batavia; two sisters-in-law, Reicho Dziados of Naselle, Washington and Wilma Dziados of Pennsylvania; nieces, Tina and Anita Tolejko, both of Batavia as well as nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, Washington, Oregon, Colorda, California and New York.

She was the sister of the late Edward, Tony and Leo Dziados and Helen Tolejko.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church.

Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

James E. Forgie

Batavia - James E. Forgie, age 68, of Batavia, an employee at the former Dipson Theatres, in Batavia, died Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at the New York State Veteran's Home.

Mr. Forgie was born May 5, 1937, the son of the late Norton E. and Betty Cary Forgie.

He was a member of the Batavia 1st Presbyterian Church and was a veteran having served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anne Bowman Forgie, whom he married November 19 1983; two sons, Christopher (Dana) Forgie and Michael (Amanda) Forgie, both of Zephyrhills, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Kristen Forgie, Kadey Forgie, Ashley Forgie and Dakota Forgie, all of Zephyrhills, Florida.

There are no prior calling hours.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorials may be made to New York State Veterans Home, 220 Richmond Avenue, Batavia, New York 14020.

Arrangements were completed by H. E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, of Batavia.
