Mrs. Vincenzina "Jenny" (Cipollone) Zinza

Batavia - Mrs. Vincenzina "Jenny" Zinza , 79, of Oakfield, a quality control inspector at Curtis Burns in Oakfield for 40 years prior to her retirement in 2002, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. Zinza was born April 5, 1929 in Pollutri, Italy, a daughter of the late Fedelle and Gracia (Marchasini) Cipollone.

She was a member of St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church in Oakfield.

She is predeceased by her husband, Metro "Mitch" Zinza.

Survivors include 5 nieces and nephews, Mario (Meg) Cipollone of Middletown, Mary Grace (Larry) Gardner of Rochester, Pierluigi (Gloria Jean) Cipollone and Louie (Linda) Scafetta, both of Batavia and Nicholas (Shelly) Scafetta of Denver, CO; a sister-in-law, Ellena DiSano of Italy; two cousins, filomena Marcesani and Ninetta Marcesani, both of Italy; 6 great-nieces and great-nephews and two great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was the sister of late Nicola and Leonardo Cipollone and Mary Scafetta.

Friends may call on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 56 Maple Avenue Oakfield, New York 14125. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia.

Marie E. Years

Elba - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie E. Coughlin Townsend Years, on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Strong Memorial Hospital, following a sudden illness.

Marie was born October 30, 1922 in Macedon, NY, the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (White) Coughlin.

She was a graduate of Elba Central School and Rochester Business Institute. She retired in 1976 from U.S.D.A. A.S.C.S. as a program clerk.

She was a member of the Western Presbyterian Church in Palmyra and the First Presbyterian Church of Elba for over 22 years, where she served as a deacon and was a member of the Women's Association. She was also a member of the National Association of Federal Employees, and Palmyra's King's Daughters. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends in the Adirondack Mountains, knitting, writing poetry, visiting family in California, shopping and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husbands, Robert Townsend and Kenneth E. Years.

Survivors include her four children, Mary M. Wray, Susan (Richard) Buckley, Vickie (Clarence) Downs and John (Marylou) Townsend, all of Elba; a daughter-in-law, Bette Townsend of Elba; two step-children, Kenneth (Patricia) Years of FL and Marcia (William) DeCamp of Palmyra; 6 sisters-in-law, Wanda Coughlin and Alice Coughlin, both of CA, Nellie Coughlin, Delores Coughlin and Wilma Bly, all of Elba, and Catherine Coughlin of AZ; a dear friend, John Pugliese of Elba; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is also predeceased by her son, Robert "Herman" Townsend, a grandson, Brian D. Townsend, her brothers, Henry, Donald, Alen, D. Lyman, George, Robert, Kenneth and 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara (Skelton) Coughlin and M. Fawn (Waldron) Coughlin.

Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church of Elba. Memorials may be made to Cardiac Rehab at United Memorial Medical Center, 127 North St., Batavia, NY 14020 or to First Presbyterian Church of Elba, 23 N. Main St., Elba, NY 14058. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba.

Mr. David M. Cecere

Batavia - Mr. David M. Cecere, age 58, retiree of the Batavia City School District, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at United Memorial Medical Center following a brief illness.

He was born June 23, 1951 in Batavia, the son of the late Alphonsus and Sylvia Koert Cecere.

Mr. Cecere was a member of Ascension Parish - St. Anthony's Church. A member of the NRA and the Winchester Gun Club he was an avid collector of war artifacts and antique weaponry used in many of the wars. He served with the US Navy from 1971 to 1975.

Survivors include four brothers; James (Susan) J. Cecere of Rochester, Richard (Debra) Cecere of Victor, Thomas (Donna) Cecere of Lancaster and Patrick Cecere of Batavia and one sister; Mary Ann (Frank) Oliveri of Batavia. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main St., Batavia. Prayers will be at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at Ascension Parish, St. Anthony's Church, 122 Liberty St., Batavia. Memorials may be made to The ICU of UMMC, 127 North St., Batavia, NY 14020. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum.

Mrs. Ruth Cowden Witter

Fairfield, Va. - Mrs. Ruth Cowden Witter, 92, of Fairfield, Virginia, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at her home after a long and full life.

Mrs. Witter was born June 24, 1916 in Dunkirk, a daughter of the late Ida and Levi Cowden of Elm Place, Fredonia.

She graduated from the old Fredonia Normal School and taught kindergarten at Silver Creek Central School where she met and married her principal, the late Ray C. Witter. She later received her Masters in Library Science from Geneseo State College.

She lived most of her life in Western New York with the exception in later years when she resided in Saranac Lake and Fairfield. She was a popular teacher in Alexander, Arcade, Illion, and at several elementary schools in Batavia. She was an avid gardener, a world traveler and excelled in her role as a homemaker.

Ruth Witter’s spirit of commitment to God and family, her spiritual gifts, work ethic and enthusiasm for life are reflected in her progeny to the Glory of God through the Grace and Mercy of Jesus Christ, her Lord.

Her husband, Ray C. Witter died August 4, 1983.

Survivors include one son, Ray Cowden Witter, Rear Adm. Ret. of Edina, Minnesota; two daughters, Helen Witter Robertson of Fairfield, Virginia and Mary Witter Belliveau of Red Hook; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at La Grange Baptist Church, 7092 La Grange Road, Pavilion. Burial will be in La Grange Cemetery.

Mrs. Helen M. Welch

Tiline, KY - Mrs. Helen M. Welch, 97, of Tiline, KY, formerly of Byron, died Friday, July 18, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Tiline.

Mrs. Welch was born Toronto, Ontario the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Anne (Kechnie) Bock.

Her husband, George H. “Bud” Welch died January 26, 1978.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary (Gary Williams) Rich of Poughkeepsie and Betty (Larry) Fritz of Tiline, KY; 4 grandchildren, Matthew (Jayme) Fritz of Eurleson TX, Daniel Fritz of Ocala, FL, Marisa Fritz of Covington, GA and Jennifer Rich of Poughkeepsie; 2 great-grandchildren, Emma Fritz and Holley Fritz, both of Eurleson, TX.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia where services will be at 1 p.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Gilliam - Grant Community Center, 6969 West Bergen Road, Bergen, NY 14416. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.

Audrey K. Stone

Batavia - Mrs. Audrey K. Stone, 83, retired secretary for Dr. Howard Ritchlin, died Friday, August 1, 2008 at Strong Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

Mrs. Stone was born October 28, 1924 in Watford, England, the daughter of the late Samuel and Hilda Daniels Perkins.

She was a member of St. Mary's Church.

Her husband, Russell Stone died 1978.

Survivors include one son, Barry M. (Shirley) Flynn of Batavia and one sister Dorothy Bright of England. She was the beloved grandmother of Shannon (Tankut) Flynn Denker of San Franciso, Erin Flynn of New York, NY and Sean (Karyn) Flynn of Columbus, Ohio and great grandmother of M. Brady Flynn Denker.

Mrs. Stone was the grandmother of the late Michael Shane Flynn and sister of the late Cecil and Peggy.

There will be no visitation and services will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Notre Dame High School, 73 Union St., Batavia, NY 14020. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Rebecca A. Seppe

Batavia - Mrs. Rebecca A. Seppe, 84, of Batavia, who worked at Doehler Jarvis in Batavia, died Friday, (July 25, 2008) at Genesee County Nursing Home.

Mrs. Seppe was born September 20, 1923 in Batavia.

She loved to play bingo and spend time with her family.

Survivors include two sons, Louis (Cynthia) Seppe Jr. of Caledonia and Greg Seppe of Batavia; two daughters, Bridgette (Glady) Yeata of Georgia and Louise (Mark) Volpe of Batavia; twelve grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is the wife of the late Louis Seppe Sr., mother of the late Frank Charles Seppe and mother-in-law of the late Susanna M. Seppe.

Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mrs. Josephine Neergaard

Batavia - Mrs. Josephine Neergaard, age 91, of Batavia, seamstress at the former Stanwood Products in Batavia, died Sunday, August 3, 2008 at the New York State Veteran's Home in Batavia.

Mrs. Neergaard was born March 1, 1917 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Martin and Anna Smoter Giza.

A member of Resurrection Parish, Mrs. Neergaard was the former owner and operator of a fishing camp near Great Lakes, Ill. A member of the American Legion Post No. 332 and the AARP, she volunteered at the Batavia Senior Center. She served during World War II and the Korean War with the United States Navy.

Her husband, Peter Neergaard died August 2, 1964.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews including John (Anne) Wilkosz of Rochester and Marianne (Charles) O'Geen of Batavia along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is the sister of the late Frank Giza, Mary Wantuck, Sally Stewart and Frances A. Wilkosz.

There are no prior calling hours. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia. Entombment will be in St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Resurrection Parish - St. Joseph's Church, 303 East Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020.

Mrs. Margaret T. Irrera

Batavia - Mrs. Margaret T. Irrera, age 94, of Batavia, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Genesee County Nursing Home, in Batavia.

Mrs. Irrera was born June 15, 1914 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Clement and Laura Coticchio Gizzi.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Church, where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and also worked on the St. Joseph Feast Table. She was also a member of the Notre Dame Prayer Group and their Bible Study. Mrs. Irrera enjoyed baking, crocheting and sewing, having made many blankets for her family and friends.

Her husband, William J. Irrera died July 23, 2007.

Survivors include three daughters, Serena (John) Baiocco of Batavia, Loretta (Richard) Martino of Greeneville, Tenn. and Roselee (Gerard) Coffta of Corfu; eight grandchildren, Cheryle (Jon) Miller of Tenn., Deborah (Ken) Cartwright of Perry, John L. (Joann) Baiocco of Batavia, Julie Bible, Kimberly (Billy) Hensley and Richard Martino, Jr. all of Tenn., William (Kelly) Coffta of Orchard Park and Russell Coffta of Batavia; seventeen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; a brother, Larry Gizzi of Wash.; two sisters, Tina (Harry) Henk of Kenmore and Katie (George) Skliros of Ohio; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is the great-great-grandmother of the late Dakota Leigh Spoon and sister of the late Dominic Gizzi, Jesse Sinatra, Louise Galanti, Laura Piraino, Mary Edna Lippold and William Gizzi.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Ascension Parish - St. Anthony's Church, 122 Liberty Street, Batavia. Entombment will be in St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Batavia. Memorials may be made to the family to be distributed to various charities.
