Eric C. Wall

Bergen - Eric C. Wall, 16, of Bergen, died Friday, May 20, 2011 as a result of injuries sustained in an accident in Bergen.

Eric was born June 18, 1994 in Rochester, a son of Brad Wall of Bergen and Marjorie Arva Wall of Bergen.

Eric was active with many outdoor activities including four-wheeling, riding dirt bikes, playing basketball, snowmobiling and playing sandlot football. When he was younger Eric was an outstanding wrestler.

He was an avid gamer, and enjoyed his late night gaming with his friends especially playing Call of Duty. Eric will also be sadly missed by his Jack Russell Terrier, Hunter.

Surviving along with his parents are his brothers, Kevin Wall and Grady Wall, both of Bergen; grandparents, Gerald (Missy) Wall of Inlet and Earle (Margaret) Foster of Bergen; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is the grandson of the late Connie Wall.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake Street, Bergen. Eric’s memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bergen United Methodist Church, 27 South Lake Street, Bergen. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Bergen Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 428, Bergen, New York 14416. Burial will be in Mount Rest Cemetery, Bergen.

Margaret E. Wagner

Batavia - Miss Margaret E. Wagner, 86, of Batavia, secretary for MetLife Insurance in Batavia for 26 years, died Monday, May 2, 2011 at United Memorial Medical Center.

Miss Wagner was born April 5, 1925 in Buffalo, the daughter of the late James and Bertha Rogers Wagner.

She was a member of the Batavia First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and also kept the records for the Sunday school classes. She also worked and volunteered at the Salvation Army and for the Beckwith Insurance Company in Pembroke. She loved working in her yard, enjoyed outdoor activities and, no matter the situation; she always had a smile on her face.

Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Lois (Joseph) Gerace of Batavia, Rita Greco of Port Orchard, Washington, William (Elizabeth) Wagner of Alexander and Jane Sheppleman of Columbus, Ohio; great-nieces and great-nephews, Robert Gerace, John (fiancée Rhonda Saulsbury) Gerace and Karen (Scott) Rowland, all of Batavia, Nicolette (James) Linneman of Mississippi, Cindy Pfalzer of Michigan, Debbie (Barry) Newman and Hank Pfalzer, both of Texas, Cristin (Larry) Taylor of Washington, Richard (Jennifer) Wagner and Eric (Krista) Wagner, both of Alexander, Heidi (Eddie) Malowski of New Jersey and Jennifer (Troy) McLeland of Colorado and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She is the sister of the late Forrest Wagner.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia. Services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Batavia First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery, Alexander.

Elizabeth F. Shepard

Byron - Miss Elizabeth F. Shepard, age 47, died suddenly at home on May 15, 2011. She will be greatly missed by her mother Marian D. Shepard, her sister Gwendolen, her brother-in-law James, and her nieces Dida and Jamie. She predeceased by her father Francis.

There are no prior calling hours. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28th at 2 p.m. at Byron Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Marian Shepard.

Frank C. Shamrock

Oakfield - Mr. Frank C. Shamrock, 63, of Oakfield, forklift driver for the former Comstock Michigan Fruit Co. in LeRoy and Oakfield, died Monday, June 13, 2011 at the Batavia Nursing Home.

Mr. Shamrock was born May 26, 1948 in Tonawanda, the son of the late Clarence and Barbara Hahn Shamrock.

Mr. Shamrock formerly was an active fireman for the Alabama Fire Department. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and his true passion was farming. He collected John Deere memorabilia, had a great love for model trains and was a fan of John Wayne. He will be remembered as a very well-liked man who would do anything for anybody.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Shamrock; four brothers, Tim (Marianne) Molaro and Joseph (Sheila) Molaro, both of Oakfield, Salvatore (Shelly) Molaro of Blissfield, Michigan and Michael Molaro of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters, Nadine (Richard) Schutt of East Pembroke and Barbara (Kevin) Hendershott of South Alabama; lifelong friends of Frank, Don (Gert) Parker of Alabama, New York and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Burdett & Sanford Funeral Home, 11 Maple Avenue, Oakfield. Memorials may be made to Alabama Fire Department, P.O. Box 798, Basom, New York 14013. Burial will be in Reed Cemetery, Oakfield.

William J. "Bill" Seifert

Batavia - Mr. William J. “Bill” Seifert, 56, of Batavia, died Thursday, (June 2, 2011) at his home.

Mr. Seifert was born November 21, 1954 in Batavia, the son of the late Glenn and Mary (Brooks) Seifert.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Batavia, Godfrey's Pond, Board of Directors for the Genesee Baseball Club and was a former member of the Batavia Jaycees.

Mr. Seifert was a NASCAR, Philadelphia Phillies, Buffalo Bills and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing. Mr. Seifert was a loss mitigation relationship manager at Chase in Albion.

For 12 years he was the message board operator and programmer for the Batavia Muckdogs. Mr. Seifert also operated the 30 second shot clock for the Batavia High School boys and girls basketball teams.

Survivors include his three sisters, Kathleen (Kerry) Ball of Elba, Deborah (William Berry) Seifert of Buffalo and Marjorie (Carlos) Aguilar of San Diego, California; five nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours are Tuesday (June 14th )from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (June 15th) also at the Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Batavia.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 8221 Lewiston Road, Batavia, NY 14020 or Volunteers For Animals, P.O. Box 1621, Batavia, NY 14021.

Mrs. Alice N. Schelemanow

Bergen - Mrs. Alice N. Schelemanow, 85, of Bergen, a former employee at Black and Decker, Brockport, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at her home in Bergen.

Mrs. Schelemanow was born June 18, 1925 in Livonia, a daughter of the late Sandor and Theres (Filinger) Nagy.

She was a longtime member of the Bergen United Methodist Church. She graduated from Honeoye High School and then from Cleveland Bible College over 50 years ago.

Her husband, Josyp Schelemanow, died in 1965.

Survivors include three children, George Schelemanow of Bergen, Vera (Glenn) Gaetano of Shelton, CT and Thomas (Amy) Schelmanow of Byron; 8 grandchildren, Joseph, Gina, Tyler, Emily, Allison, Amanda, Elly and Teddy; 6 sisters, Esther, Mary, Katherine, June Margaret and Emma; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was the sister of the late John, Joe, Ida, Helen, Rose, Julie and Pearl.

Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 S. Lake St., Bergen where services will immediately follow at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Bergen United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 216, Bergen, NY 14416. Private burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Shirley L. Scharvogel

Bergen- Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at age 85. Survivors include her three children, Karen (Richard) Boehly, Pamela (Larry) Goodale and William (Krystyna) Scharvogel, all of Bergen; five grandsons and their wives and three great-grandchildren also survive.

Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 51 South Lake St., Bergen. Her Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 11 South Main St., Churchville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Human Development Committee at St. Vincent De Paul Church, 11 South Main Street, Churchville, NY 14428.

Thomas C. Ross Jr.

Batavia - Mr. Thomas C. Ross, Jr., 47, of Batavia, metal worker at Automotive Corporation, Inc. in Batavia, died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester.

Mr. Ross was born November 14, 1963 in Batavia, a son of the late Thomas C. Sr. and Rosalie Lombardo Ross.

A member of the VFW Post No. 1602, American Legion and the former Elks Lodge in Batavia, Tom enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and will be remembered as a hard-worker. He loved reading, watching movies, camping and listening to music.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarah (Tim) Welch of Boston, Massachusetts and Katie Ross of Batavia; his granddaughter, Gianna Welch of Boston, Massachusetts; the children’s mother, Lisa J. Ross of Batavia; a brother, David Ross of Batavia; a sister, Lisa Calarco of Albion and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There are no prior calling hours. Tom’s memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Northgate Free Methodist Church, 8160 Bank Street Road, Batavia. Memorials may be made to the family.

Thomas W. Robbins

Byron - Mr. Thomas W. Robbins, 80, of Byron, died Friday, (June 10, 2011) at Crossroads House.

Mr. Robbins was born March 22, 1931 in Geneva, the son of the late William and Leona (Thiery) Robbins.

He was a chief pharmacist at the Batavia Veterans Administration Medical Center and also a graduate of the Pharmacy School at the University of Buffalo. A veteran, he served with the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish and the American Legion in Bergen.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret (Rung) Robbins, of Byron, whom he married in 1957; three children, Karen (Douglas) Kenyon of Pavilion, Gretchen Mittelstaedt of West Henrietta and William (Laurie) Robbins of Manlius; three grandchildren, Cecilia Kenyon, Emily Mittelstaedt and Thomas Robbins.

There are no prior calling hours. His Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Padre Pio Parish - Our Lady of Fatima Site, 65 South Main Street, Elba. Burial will be in Byron Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Crossroads House, P.O. Box 403, Batavia, NY 14021.

Tom Muir Wilson

Byron - Tom Muir Wilson, born December 6, 1930 in Bellaire, Ohio, died on June 7th, 2011 in Byron, New York. Husband, Father, Professor & Traveler, Tom peacefully passed in his farmstead home of forty years, in the company of his loving family.

Son of William and Jessie Wilson (both deceased) of West Virginia, Tom attended Wheeling High School and later Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

In the late 1950s, Tom lived and studied in Italy for two years, at which time a life-long love of travel and exposure to diverse cultures took root in his soul. Following his sojourn in Italy, Tom attended The School for American Craftsmen, Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, New York. In Rochester he received his Master's Degree in Woodworking & Furniture Design, and held the position of Exhibit Designer at the George Eastman House Museum of Photography. In 1962 he designed and installed the Mees Gallery of the Science of Photography and served as Professor of Art & Photography at Nazareth College. In the mid-1960s he was Professor of Photography for three years at Minneapolis Institute of Art & Design, before returning to the Rochester area where he began his 22-year tenure as Professor of Photography and Art at Rochester Institute of Technology's School for Photographic Arts & Sciences.

Concurrent with his teaching, Tom designed and ran special-interest travel programs since 1969.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sherry Clark Wilson, and his children by his former spouse Julie Martin Wilson; Maura Muir Wilson, Tyler William Wilson and Ian Jonathan Wilson, and grandchildren Jessie Muir Blumenfeld, Andrés Santiago Wilson Rios, Tyler James Wilson Rios and Tom Patrick Wilson Rios.

Tom will be remembered for his talent and intelligence, his love and appreciation of the people of the world, his strength of character, forthright honesty, exuberance for life, an open spirit, a gentle touch, twinkling eyes and hearty laughter. Tom's home, heart and arms were always open to those he met. Over his lifetime, Tom's generosity of spirit to family, friends, neighbors, students, traveling associates, craftspeople and acquaintances around the world has created ripples of good will that will never expire.
