Rose C. Hall

SALISBURY — Mrs. Rose C. Hall, 89, of 448 State Route 29A, Salisbury Center, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, in St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica, after a brief illness.

She was born on March 14, 1915, in Lyons Falls, the daughter of Edward and Olivne (Lamcourt) Bouchard and was educated in St. Francis School in Herkimer. Her marriage to Ernest "Butsy" Hall took place on May 23, 1936, in St. Francis Church in Herkimer. Mr. Hall predeceased her on August 22, 1989.

Rose had been employed by the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville, retiring from there in 1980.

She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Church and a member of the Catholic Women's Club.

She will be remembered by her family and friends for her famous "Mexican Sauce" and her garage sales.

She also enjoyed reading and cards.

She is survived by a son and his wife, Michael and Beth Hall of Fernley, Nevada; a sister, Viola James of Ilion; a granddaughter, Barbara Hall of Anchorage, Alaska; and a great-grandson, Keegan Hall.

A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, August 24, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Dolgeville. The Rev. Leo F. Potvin will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville.

Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph's Church Memorial Fund, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Evelyn R. Tyoe

SALISBURY/DOLGEVILLE — Mrs. Evelyn R. Tyoe, 96, a resident of the Wells Nursing Home in Johnstown since April 2003, and a former Salisbury and Dolgeville resident, died Saturday, August 21, 2004, at the nursing home.

She was born in Salisbury on September 29, 1907, the daughter of Leon R. and Delia Mae (Dingman) Mowers and was educated in Salisbury rural schools. Her marriage to  Jackson G. Tyoe took place on May 26, 1928, in St. Joseph's Church, Dolgeville. Mr. Tyoe predeceased her on August 9, 1974.

Evelyn had been employed by the Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville as a sewing machine operator for several years prior to her retirement from there. Evelyn was a member of the Salisbury Home Bureau and she personally enjoyed knitting, crocheting and of course sewing.

She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Joan T. and Donald J. Lacek of Johnstown; a sister, Elva Chestney of the Valley Health Center, Herkimer; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Mark Tyoe, on December 14, 1993; her brothers, Harold Raymond and Frank Mowers; and her sisters, Dorothy, Marie and Inez.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 24, at 2 p.m. at the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville. Pastor Morey Sharpio of Johnstown will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are from 1 p.m. until the time of the services.

Memorials may be made to the Stratford-Salisbury Ambulance Corps in her memory.

Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Helen E. Poznoski

MOHAWK — Mrs. Helen E. Poznoski, age 91, of 5 Charles St., entered into eternal rest on Thursday morning, January 15, 2004, in Valley Health Services, Herkimer.

She was born on April 1, 1912, a daughter of the late Adolph and Margaret (Smith) Bucrzinski.

She married Stanley Poznoski Sr. on September 19, 1936, at St. Joseph's Church, Herkimer. Mr. Poznoski passed away on May 28, 1998.

Helen was last employed with UNIVAC as an assembler.

She was a communicant of Saints Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer.

Survivors include two sons, Stanley Poznoski Jr. and wife, Angela, of California and Raymond Poznoski and wife, Beverly, of Herkimer; a daughter, Diane Cherry of Mohawk; two sisters, Frances Dargis of Herkimer and Eva Fields of Toledo, Ohio; her grandchildren, John Poznoski and wife, Jacqui, Stephen Poznoski and wife, Sandy, Joseph Poznoski and wife, Elizabeth, Gia Allen and husband, Jim, Michael Poznoski, Joanne LeClair and husband, John, Lori Sementelli and husband, Dave, Kelly Montana, Jeff Poznoski and wife, Erin, and Rebecca Poznoski; twelve great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence and Charles Bucrzinski; one sister, Sophie Atkins; and a son-in-law, Joseph Cherry.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N.  Washington St., Herkimer, on Sunday, January 18, 2004, from 6-9 p.m.

Helen's funeral will commence at 8:30 a.m. on Monday morning, January 19, from the chapel of the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home where prayer will be offered and at 9 a.m. from Saints Anthony and Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer, with the Rev. Robert Shinos, pastor, officiating. She will be laid to rest this spring in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Kindly consider contributions in honor of Helen to Valley Health Services, Herkimer. Envelopes are available at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, Herkimer. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Valley Health Services, Herkimer, for their tender love and care that was endlessly give to Helen and her family.

Josephine C. Loscavo

HERKIMER — Mrs. Josephine C. (Battaglia) Loscavo, of Herkimer, beloved wife of John R. "Lefty" Loscavo, passed into the hands of God peacefully on Wednesday evening, August 18, 2004, in Faxton Hospital at the age of 75. Her passing occurred with her loving family at her side and after a valiant battle with cancer.

She was born on February 23, 1929, in Rochester, a daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Blasting) Battaglia. She graduated from St. Bridget's Catholic School and attended the Rochester School of Business.

On June 12, 1948, she was joined in holy matrimony with John R. "Lefty" Loscavo in St. Bridget's Church, Rochester. A devoted couple, they shared a loving concern for one another and their family.

She was last employed at the Herkimer Fish Market. She spent many years employed with the Scherings Glove Factory in Herkimer. A woman of deep faith, she was a faithful communicant of Saints Anthony and Joseph Church, Herkimer.

Josephine was a well-known and much-respected Herkimer resident. She was a member of the Tony R. George Ladies Auxiliary, Third Order of St. Francis Society, Altar Rosary Society, Sacred Heart Society, Crafty Lady Society and the Village of Herkimer Senior Citizens.

A lady of deep faith, Josephine had a passion for life and deep love for those who shared it with her. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her heart and character made her a valued friend and she established countless relationships that had great meaning and value both to her and those who shared her life. She brought to her personal life the same "fight," courage and determination that brought her through her illness.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 56 years, John "Lefty" at home; three loving daughters, Rose Hoskins and husband Isaac of New Jersey, Bea Vivacqua and husband Tom of Frankfort and Johann Conkling and husband Gordon of Erie, PA.; four cherished grandchildren, David Worlock and wife Andrea of Indiana, MaryAnn Morning and husband Bernard of Florida, Brad Vivacqua of Frankfort and Shelby Rose Conkling of Erie, PA; two adored great grandchildren, Brennan and Maleah Morning; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Battaglia; and by a sister, Mary Vali.

Visitation at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N.  Washington St., Herkimer, where the family will be present, will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday (today), August 20, 2004. Josephine's funeral will commence at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday morning, August 21, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered. The Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor, will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. from Saints Anthony and Joseph Church, South Main Street, Herkimer. Funeral procession will follow to Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer, where she will be laid to rest. Kindly consider contributions in memory of Josephine to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to the Church of Saints Anthony and Joseph. Donations may be made at the funeral parlor.

The family is grateful to the third floor nursing staff at Faxton Hospital, Utica, and to Dr. Butala and his compassionate staff. All of your professionalism will never be forgotten.

Deeply faithful, loving and compassionate, she will leave a lasting impression of dedication to our Lord. We are comforted knowing she is now enjoying eternal peace with our Lord almighty.
