Wells, Gardner E. "Tully": Age 87, of Myrtle Beach, died Tuesday, July 1, 2004, in Georgetown, SC. Born, March 6, 1917, in Homer, NY, he was a son of the late Emmett and Frances Folts Wells. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Greif Wells in April of this year, and was also the last survivor of three brothers.
Gardner had been a coach and professor at St. Lawrence University and was chairman of the athletic department at SUNY at Oswego. He was instrumental in starting the ice hockey program and construction of the ice-skating rink at Oswego. Retiring in the mid 1970's, Gardner and Barbara moved to Myrtle Beach while maintaining a summer home on the St. Lawrence River.
Survivors include a son, Richard R. Wells and his wife, Virginia of Rochester, NY; 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Nicotina and Laurel Burchell; one great-granddaughter and many dear friends and family.
A Memorial Service celebrating the lives of Gardner and Barbara will be held at Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second St., Oswego, NY, on August 27, 2004 at 11:00AM. An online guestbook is available at www.msfh.net.

She is survived by her mother, Edna Friedland, Bath; sisters, Joan Dugan, twin, Rochester, Irene Woodruff, NJ, and Lisa Meenaghan, NYC; brothers, David Friedland, NJ, and Brian Friedland, Hornell; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Chester Friedland.
A Mass will be held Monday, July 19th, 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Bath. Contributions may be made to the Southern Tier Hospice, Corning, NY.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce (Staff) Wood; 2 sons, Richard (Carolyn) Wood of Fairport, Thomas (Barbara) Wood of Canandaigua; 5 grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Brendan, Sarah, and Alison; 2 great-grandchildren, Carter and Annabeth; brother-in-law, Robert (Donna) Staff of Canandaigua. Mr. Wood was a US Army veteran of WW II. He retired from Xerox in 1988. He was a longtime member of the Fairport Fire Dept. and was a charter member of the Perinton Memorial Post V. F. W.
Friends may call Thurs., July 22, from 6-9 at the John C. Johnson Funeral Home, Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua.
