Nahmias, Ann M. : MYRTLE BEACH, SC: 81, died Monday, June 5, 2000. She was born in Rochester, NY, a daughter of the late Frank and Rose Mazzola. Mrs. Nahmias and her husband owned and operated Jones Bingo in Myrtle Beach for 25 years.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gabe Nahmias of Myrtle Beach, SC; a nephew, Eugene Mazzola and wife, Roxanne of Rochester, NY; 3 sisters, Agnes Nenni and Joan Renauf, both of Martinez, CA and Susan Duke of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach. Burial will follow at Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.

Shaffer, DeWitt A. "Dick": EAST ROCHESTER: June 5, 2000 at the age of 81 years. Predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Hobbie) Shaffer and a son, Monroe Shaffer. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Ann & Thomas Wood of Rochester; Ruffey (the dog); brother-in-law, Caleb (Janet) Hobbie of Allentown, PA, and a nephew, Peter Ferstead of Canandaigua. DeWitt was a US Army Veteran of WWII. He was a crane operator in the Rochester Area for many years.
Friends may call FRIDAY 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the HARLOFF Funeral Home, 803 South Washington Street, East Rochester. A Memorial Service for DeWitt will be held SATURDAY at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of East Rochester. Interment in White Haven Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. She was a loving mother, devout Christian, respected and loved by all who knew her.

Schantz, Helen Amelia: Long time Rochester resident. Died on May 30, 2000 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Predeceased by her sisters, Jean Schantz Rhone and Betty Schantz Kobilak and brother-in-law Richard Kobilak. Survived by her brother, Andrew Schantz and wife, Rita, and brother-in-law, Fred Rhone and wife June; 12 nieces and nephews and 26 great nieces and nephews.
Born in Lowville, NY, Miss Schantz graduated from Lowville Free Academy in 1946, University of Rochester in 1950 with a Bachelors Degree soon followed by a Masters. She taught English and Latin in Harpersville, NY. In 1952 she began a 38 year teaching position at Victor Central High School where she chaired the English Department for 31 years. She was honored as a recipient of the New York State English Council's "English Teacher of Excellence" award. Miss Schantz was involved in many extra curricular activities at Victor including officiating basketball games, directing 27 seniors plays, 5 musicals, initiating a school jazz band, and playing trombone in the pit orchestra for 20 shows.
No prior calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, 64 South Main Street, Pittsford on Tuesday, June 13th at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made payable to Victor Dollars for Scholars (memo line: memory of Helen Schantz).
