Bastian, Sharon Dawn
LYONS: Died on Monday, March 22, 2004 at the Wayne County Nursing Home. Sharon was born in Lyons on July 27, 1947, the daughter of Emerson and Dorothy Donnelly Bastian. She worked for General Dynamics in Newark and operated her own cleaning service for many years. She also worked at Grace House. Survived by her companion and good friend of 13 years, tim Popielarczyk of Lyons, daughter, Ashlee Popielarczyk of Lyons; son, Todd DeWind of Rochester; 2 brothers, Rodney (Gail) of Sodus, Jarvis (Cathy) of Cary, NC; 2 sisters, Bonita (Allen) Legott of Stafford, Donnalee Fernaays of Salem, Oreg.; grandson, Brandon DeWind; nieces and nephews. Spring burial in South Lyons Cemetery. memorials to the American Cancer Society, 1400 Winton Road North, Rochester 14609.

SODUS: Age 87. Died on March 23, 2004. Survived by 5 children; 3 sisters; and a host of other relatives.

Daratt, Alice M.
Clyde: Died on Saturday, March 27th, 2004 at the Wayne County Nursing Home at the age of 90. Family and friends may call from 7-9pm on Monday, March 29th at the John R. Canolesio Funeral Home, Inc., 38 Ford Street, Clyde. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, March 30 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rose Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Alice may be directed to the Clyde Ambulance Corp, PO Box 145, Clyde, New York 14433 or to the Wayne County Nursing Home, 7376 Rte. 31, Lyons, New York 14489. Mrs. Daratt was born on February 14, 1914 in Auburn, New York the daughter of Garrett and Florence Canavan Hoover. Alice came to Clyde in 1993 from Fleming , New York with her husband of 61 years Theodore E. Daratt. Mrs. Daratt is survived by her daughter Mrs. James (Judy )Bailey of Clyde; her sister Lodeema Scott of Auburn; grandchildren William Hall, Susan Alnutt, Nancy Armes, Terry (Dave) Ortiz, Tammy Aurand, and Gregory (Lisa) Aurand; step-grandchildren Darryl ( Beth) Bailey, Lyn (Jarrod) Strong and Ryan Bailey; 16 great-grandchildren many nieces and nephews and good friends Don and Marge Gullivan and the caring staff and residents of the Wayne county Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her husband Ted in 1196; daughters Elisabeth Ann Hall and June Marie Daratt; brothers John and David Hoover and a grandson Geoffery Aurand.

Palmyra: Died on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the age of 89. Mr. Delevack is survived by his daughter Juliana A. (Dick)Vice; grandchildren Fayne M. (Jeff) Winter, Shawn K. Rollins, Ricky A. (Donna) Vice, David V. Vice and Jon-Paul Vice; great-grandchildren Geoff and Mitchell Winter, Shane Mott, Zachery, Kristen, Carl, Adam and Danny Vice; nieces Barbara (Paul) Bardotz, Patricia Delavak; nephew Mark (Lori) Delavak; grandniece and nephews Ettie, Connor and Luke Delavak. He was predeceased by his wife Dorothy; brother Leonard and Leonard’s first wife Ruth and second wife Joan. Burial will be later in the spring in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Brockport. ONTARIO: Died on March 26, 2004, at age 62. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Grow; children, John (Joy) Grow, Julie (Sean) Thomas, Patrick (Mary) Grow, Karin (Andrew) Whittington; grandchildren, Caitlin, Zoe, Collin, Emma, Logan; mother, Margaret L. Hysack, Raymond M. Jr.
NORTH ROSE: Age 42, of Covell Rd., died Friday March 26, 2004 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours today (March 28) from 4-7 p.m. at the Farnsworth Keysor Funeral Home, 5025 Main St. North Rose, where the funeral service will be held Monday (March 29) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Leonard Humbert officiating and an eulogy given by Wayne Young. Burial will follow at York Settlement Cemetery, Town of Huron. For those wishing, please make contributions to the family, or to the Rose or North Rose Fire Departments. Ray was born in Herkimer on April 14, 1961, a son to Raymond, Sr. and Alma Ford Hysack. He was employed at. the North Rose Wolcott Schools as a bus driver. and was a member of the North Rose Fire Department. Surviving are his wife, Lori (Durham), daughter, Amber, 2 sons. Seth & Macaulay, mother, Alma Hysack Of Herkimer; 3 sisters, Andrea (Lee) Lasher of Herkimer. Brenda (Ricky) Parr of Louisiana. Joyce, Herbert G. Sr.
Palmyra: Died on the first day of spring, March 20, 2004 at his home in Palmyra at the age of 78. A native of Palmyra, Herbie was a graduate of Palmyra High School where he excelled in sports. He attended Michigan State University. Mr. Joyce is a member of the United States Marine Corp. (once a Marine, always a Marine) and served in China during WWII. The funeral home proudly flies the United States Marine Corp Flag in his honor. Herb worked for many years for C. Gordon Joyce and Son Plumbing and Heating and had retired from American Can. He was an avid sportsman and very involved with youth sports. Mr. Joyce was a charter member of the James R. Hickey Post #120 of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #6778, the Palmyra Moose Lodge and the Drumlin Square Lodge of F&AM. Herb was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Kathryn Arlene Murphy Joyce and sisters Loraine Joyce Aldrich Bechtold and Doris Joyce Collie Huntley. He is survived by three daughters, Linda (Kenneth) Joyce Devey, Patricia Joyce Berg and Kathleen Joyce Grunwald; son Herbert Joyce Jr.; four grandchildren Jason and Kelly Berg and Michael and Malea Devey; a great-grandson Tyler Berg; his former wife Colleen McPike and several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Mr. Joyce's request, there will be no calling hours and funeral services will be private. Contributions in Herb's memory may be directed to the National Wildlife Federation, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, Weston, VA 20190 or to a local charity of ones choice.

SODUS: Age 86, passed away March 22, 2004. Raymond is survived by his children, Kathy (Mike) Barenthin, of Sodus, Sue (Jim) Ellis, of Greenville, SC, Richard Kelly, of Texas, Jean (Bill) Savior of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Charles Kelly of Newark; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Sodus Center Fire Dept./Ambulance Fund.

Koch, Martha A.
MACEDON: Passed away on Friday March 26, 2004 at age 78. She is survived by her children Linda Koch of Floral City FL, Stephen (Cynthia) Koch of Fairport, Barbara (Gene) Niles of Newark; grandchildren Tiffany Koch, Erica & Erich Koch, Nicole, Bradley, Amanda, Joshua & Kenny Niles; great grandchildren Isaiah, Alyssia, Kaitlan & Cheyanne Niles; sister Dawn Gibson; brother Philip Schrader; mother-in-law Alida Koch. Martha was predeceased by her husband Edwin Koch in 1995, and by her son Kenneth Edwin Koch who died in 1970 while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Viet Nam. Friends are invited to call on Sunday (3/28) from 2-4 p.m. at PAYNE & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 1040 Route 31 Macedon where her funeral service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery, Shortsville at the convenience of her family. Memorials may be directed to the Wayne County Nursing Home Activity Fund in her memory.

Lux, Robert E.
MACEDON: Died on March 20, 2004, at age 81 at the Newark Manor Nursing home. bob was born May 24, 1922 in Waterloo NY to Fern and Joseph lux. He graduated from Waterloo High School and attended Ithaca College. Following Merchant marine service in the Philippines during World War II, he attended Brockport State Teachers College. Bob worked as a designer and draftsman, holding several positions in the aerospace industry, including Hughes Aircraft, Northrup and TRW in El Segundo, California. from 1970 to 1985, he was employed in the engineering department at Crossman Guns, then based in Fairport. From childhood, Bob enjoyed designing and building model airplanes, taking special interest in perfecting designs for motorless radio controlled sail planes. He was also an avid photographer. Bob was a past member of the Sky Chiefs Model Airplane Club and the American Model Association. He belonged to the South Bay Masonic Lodge #421 in El Segundo, Cal. and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Burghdurf-Lux; daughter, Heidi Lux; sister, Betty Lux-Rogers; several nieces and nephews. Burial, South Butler Cemetery. Donations may be made to Alzheimer's Assoc./Rochester, Newark Manor or South Perinton United Methodist Church in his memory.

Mancuso, Peter P.
NEWARK: On March 24, 2004, at age 77. He is survived by his beloved wife, Erma Mancuso; a son, Peter (Lori) Mancuso of Brighton, NY; a daughter, Lori (Dan)Maynard of Naples NY; four grandchildren, Lauren, Daniel, Nicholas and Alex; a brother, Vincent (Mary Jane) of Newark; a sister, Mary (Gordon) Harris of Taylorville, NC; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Fred in 1963 and mother, Teresa in 2004. Friends may call Sunday (Mar. 28th) from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Rev. Anthony Mugavero will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. on Monday (Mar. 29th) at St. Michael's Church, 401 S. Main St., Newark, NY. Burial will be in East Palmyra Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to may donate to the American Heart Association, 2113 Chili Ave., Rochester, NY 14624.

Mitchell, Bertha
Rochester: Bertha Mitchell, 87 died March 22, 2004 at the Hurlbut Nursing Home. Mrs. Mitchell was born the daughter of John and Anna Edger VanGee on June 18, 1916 in Rochester, New York. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing. Mrs. Mitchell will be missed by her son Norman (Lorna) Frenz of Rochester; daughter Nancy (Richard) VanZile of Florida; seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Mitchell was predeceased by husband Edward Mitchell, three brothers and three sisters. Fulfilling the wishes of Mrs. Mitchell there will be no prior calling hours or funeral services. A graveside service will be at Parma Corners Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In memory of Mrs. Mitchell, remembrances may be made to a charity of choice.

MARION: Died unexpectedly, March 19, 2004, at age 57. Predeceased by father H. Francis Maybury & father-in-law Howard M. Phillips, Sr. She is survived by her husband Howard Phillips; mother Vera Campbell Maybury; brothers Tom Phillips, David Phillips; aunts Fredis Showalter, Patricia Wildt; 3 nieces; 5 nephews; 2 brothers-in-law; sister-in-law; & mother-in-law Rosalynn Phillips. Piech, Wladyslaw Walter
NEWARK: Age 80, died March 20, 2004. Survived by two nieces; one nephew in Poland; friend, Margaret Pulver of Newark, two nieces and one nephew in Poland. Predeceased by wife, Elizabeth, in 1977. Walt was born in Bobawiski, Poland on January 26, 1924, the son of John and Katarzyna Tkaczyk Piech. He moved to Newark in 1951. Walt retired from N.D.C. in 1986 and had worked at Hallagans Mfg. for 14 years. He was a member of Palmyra Moose & Polish Alliance. Memorials to St.Michaels Church, S. Main St., Newark.

Stephens, Gary M. “Mike”
Clifton Springs: Gary Michael “Mike” Stephens, 44 died Monday, March 22, 2004 at Clifton Springs Hospital. There will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be April 16, 2004 at St. Michael Church, South Main Street, Newark at 10 am. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hornell, New York at the convenience of the family. In memory of Mike, remembrances may be made to Volunteer Advisory Council, c/o Sue Epstein, 703 East Maple Avenue, Newark, 14513. Mike was born the son of Gary and Nancy Spencer Stephens on June 18, 1959 in Hornell, New York. He enjoyed cars, boats, sports, watching old movies, dancing, horseback riding and skiing. Mike loved all kinds of animals. Mike will be missed by his father and step-mother Gary and Sue Stephens of Elmira; mother Nancy Stephens of CO.; brothers Scott (Eileen) Stephens of VA. and Christopher (Marcia) Stephens of CO.; sisters Ann Elizabeth (Dr. David) Harford of TX. and Michelle Mays of Harford, NY; many uncles, aunts, nieces and cousins; many friends at the Finger Lakes DDSO. Mike was predeceased by his mother’s friend Robert Mappus.
