Allison, Darwin

MACEDON: Died on January 4, 2003 at
age 82. He is survived by his wife Betty
Allison; children Paul Allison, Molly
Allison, Kathy (Rob) Silbermann, Mike
(Karen) Allison, Judy (Mary-Ellen)
Allison-Ball, Greg Allison (Jeff
Denmark); 6 grandchildren; brother C.
Gordon Allison; several nieces &
nephews. Darwin was a pilot during
World War II, a pianist and owned local
grocery stores in Palmyra & Macedon.
Friends are invited to call Monday 2-4 &
7-9PM at PAYNE & MURPHY FUNERAL
HOME 1040 Route 31, Macedon. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be held
11AM Tuesday at St. Anne’s Church,
Palmyra. Donations may be made to
Macedon Fire Dept. Ambulance in his
memory.

Bastian, Carolyn W.

ROSE: On December 24, 2002. Carolyn
completed her earthly life of sewing, knitting,
crocheting, baking, canning, and in
many other ways caring for and sharing
with her family, friends, and community.
She died at the age of 92 in her home of
more than 60 years, surrounded by the
love, respect, and appreciation of her family
and extended family. She is being
greeted in her new home by many loved
ones, including her husband, Jack; son,
Gerald; brother, Kenneth Ellinwood; her
parents; and her stepfather, Ross
Ellinwood. Carolyn was born in the town
of Rose, July 17, 1910, a daughter to
Ralph A. and Edna J. Ferris Wood. She
leaves her daughter, Alice (Joseph) Latin
of Rose; sons, Ralph (Mary Alice) of Kent,
Roger (Carolyn) of E. Rochester, Harvey
(Terry) of Rose; daughter-in-law,
Rosemary Bastian of E. Rochester; 27
grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2
sisters, Doris Miller and Gladys Bastian of
Rose; sister-in-law, Marion Ellinwood;
nieces, nephews, cousins, and many
friends and other extended family. A
Memorial Service will be held on
Saturday, January 11, 2003 at 11 AM in
the Rose United Methodist Church with
Rev. Diana Russell officiating. A reception
will follow in the social hall at church. In
lieu of flowers, please make donations to
the Rose United Methodist Church or to
the Rose Ambulance in her memory.

Bosje, Ester A.

EAST PALMYRA: Ester A. Bosje, 90,
went home to be with her Lord and Savior
on Tuesday (December 31, 2002). She is
survived by two sons, Joseph (Dorothy)
Bosje of East Palmyra Gordon (Beverly)
Bosje of Oklahoma City, OK; six grandchildren,
twenty-three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband,
Joseph; eight brothers and a grandson.
Burial East Palmyra Cemetery.
Memorials in her name may be made be
made to the East Palmyra Christian
Reformed Church at 2052 East Palmyra-
Port Gibson Rd, Palmyra, NY 14522.

Breckenridge, Hilda A.

WILLIAMSON: "Pioneer Teacher Dies".
Hilda Ashman Breckenridge, age 83,
daughter of William James and May
Bradshaw Ashman, died of advanced
breast cancer at her home at 10:45PM on
Sunday, December 29, 2002. Mrs.
Breckenridge taught for twenty years in
the Williamson Central School District,
where she pioneered a special education
program for students with learning disabilities
in the 1970s. Upon retirement at age
70 she was a daily volunteer for ten years
in the Sodus Central Elementary School
where she continued to assist students who
benefited from her talents. She finally
stopped teaching public school at age 80.
Her pioneering work as a teacher began in
the 1950's when she organized a large
weekly Bible School program in the
Central Square School District and a
Sunday School at the Berean Chapel,
Syracuse, N.Y. Similarly she initiated a
junior church program in the Sodus Bible
Baptist Church, where she was a member.
She was a long-time member of both
North Syracuse Baptist and Sodus Baptist
Churches. Hilda graduated from Albany
State Teachers College in 1940 with a BA
in French, 2ndary Education, and from the
University of Rochester with 2 MAs in
Reading and Learning Disabilities. Hilda
played the piano and the accordion. She
cherished flowers and was an avid gardener
and a fine photographer of flowers. She
cherished family, God and gardening. She
is survived by her husband of 60 years,
Douglas Francis; 5 children including,
Carol Breckenridge of Bethany, CT.,
Linda Breckenridge of Williamson, N.Y.,
Geraldine Rothstein of Elmira, NY, James
Breckenridge of Williamson, NY and
Martha Abbott of Webster, NY; as well as
10 grandchildren including, Greg, Kari,
Jackie and Holly Abbott and Monica
Cobbs, Alok Appadurai, Bryce and Sarah
Breckenridge and Megan and Amanda
Rothstein and 3 great-grandchildren,
Naomi, Tyson and Nigel. She is also survived
by her siblings and their spouses:
Beulah and Floyd Austin of North
Syracuse, N.Y. and Daniel and Beverly
Ashman of Conneaut, Ohio. She will be
remembered by her sons and companion-in-
law, Arjun Appadurai, Michael
Rothstein and Tony Ventimiglia and her
grand son-in-law, Brian Cobbs. Interment
will be at Lakeview Cemetery,
Pultneyville, NY in the spring. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made to the
Hilda A. Breckenridge Memorial Fund at
the Sodus Bible Baptist Church, Sodus,
N.Y.

Burke, Kelly J.

WOLCOTT: Entered into rest suddenly on
December 28, 2002 in her 37th year.
Survived by her fiance, Fred Acevedo of
Wolcott; parents, Leo (Mavis) DeRosia Sr.
of Sodus; brother, Leo (Janice) DeRosia
Jr. of Lyons; sisters, Carol Barry of NH,
Cathy (Brad) Shaw of Red Creek, Kim
Wahl of Sodus, Katrina (John) Millon of
Penfield; nieces and nephews. Expressions
of sympathy may be directed to the donor's
favorite charity.

Clark, Alden B.

NEWARK: December 28, 2002 at age 91.
Survived by son, John of FL; daughter,
Sally Hirth of Conesus; 3 grandchildren; 1
sister. No prior calling. Services at the
convenience of the family.

Donald, Ralph R.

NEWARK: Dec. 31, 2002, Ralph Richard
Donald, 86. There will be no prior calling

Erway, Emily Anne

CLYDE: Infant daughter of Paul and Amy
Erway went to be with the angels on
December 25, 2002. Also survived by
grandparents, Paul and Mary Erway of
Sodus Point; Ellis and Joyce Veley of
Clyde; great-grandparents, Raymond and
Charlotte Timmerman of Williamson,
James and Mabel Carlin of Williamson;
aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Farnsworth, Daniel R.

PORT GIBSON: On Jan. 2, 2003 at age
100. He is survived by his son, Duane
(Barbara) Farnsworth of Newark; three
grandchildren, Cheryl (James)
Blankenberg, Karen (David) Hawe, Daniel
Farnsworth; four great-grandchildren,
Jessica Follette, Jason Blankenberg,
Hilliary (Troy) VanHout, Allan
Farnsworth; great great grandchildren
Kelsi VanHout and Patrick Blankenberg;
daughter-in-law, Miriam Farnsworth of
Ovid. Daniel was predeceased by his wife,
Helen in 1997; son, Wesley; daughter,
Hazel Hardison; four brothers, Theodore,
Wilson, Wallace and Glenn. Burial will be
in East Newark Cemetery. Memorials in
his honor may be made to the Port Gibson
United Methodist Church.

Garlock, Leona J.

NEWARK: Entered into rest Jan. 2, 2003
at the age of 99. She is survived by a
daughter, Mary Jane Garlock of Newark;
son, Roger (Diane) Garlock of Loudon,
TN; brother Milton (Maggie) Ameele of
Marion; several grandchildren; greatgrandchildren;
nieces & nephews. Friends
and family are invited to call Monday 12-
2pm at Stevens Funeral Home, 3896
Buffalo St., Marion, where the funeral service
will be held 2pm Monday. In lieu of

Heinicke, Arthur J. Jr. "Jack"

MARION/ONTARIO: Entered into rest at
his home, Chaintree Dr., Marion on Dec.
30, 2002 in his 78th year. Formerly of
Fisher Rd., Ontario. A Veteran of WWII,
graduate of Cornell University, and a
retired fruitgrower. Interment at
Furnaceville Cemetery, Ontario.
