WILLIAMSON: Entered into rest at her
home on January 18, 2003 in her 100th
year. She was born in Ontario, NY
December 30, 1902, the daughter of the
late John & Georgia Casey Spavin. She
retired from the Rochester School
System in 1968 after 48 years of service.
A life member of the First Baptist
Church of Williamson. Survived by her
devoted guardians, James Clark and
Gwen Boekhout, dear friends, helpful
neighbors; many church friends, and her
long-time caregivers. Predeceased by
her brother, Dallas Spavin, and sister,
Frances Spaven. Interment, Ontario
Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy
may be directed in her memory to the
First Baptist Church of Wiliamson, P.O.
Box 104, Williamson, NY 14589 or the
Williamson Public Library, P.O. Box 30,
Williamson, NY, 14589.

Voisey, Theodosia "Teddy"

ONTARIO: Died on January 22, 2003
at age 82. Predeceased by her husband,
Edward Voisey. Survived by her sons,
Paul Voisey, Peter (Donna) Voisey,
grandchildren Sarah, Stephen,
Stephanie, Rebekah, Matthew, Angela;
several nieces & nephews. Friends are
invited 10 call Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 at
MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 1961
Ridge Road, Ontario. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be held 10 AM
Monday at St. Mary's of The Lake
Church, Ontario. Burial al the convenience
of the family. Masses may be
offered in her memory.

Walker, Nathan R.

PHELPS: Nathan R. Walker, 80, of 21
Orchard Park, died Wednesday, January
15th at Strong Memorial Hospital in
Rochester, NY. Nathan Walker was
born July 12, 1922 in Livonia, New
York to Nathan Redfield Walker and
Lucy Rynearson Walker. He was a
graduate of the Newark High School
Class of 1940 and a lifetime resident of
Newark and Phelps. Nathan served in
the United States Army Air Force from
November 1942 to October 1948.
During World War II, Nathan advanced
to First Lieutenant and served as a B-17
navigator on 35 missions based out of
Podington, England. Nathan was
employed by the New York Central
Railroad for 15 years prior to becoming
Postmaster of the Phelps Post Office in
1962. He retired in 1983. He has been a
member of the Phelps Rotary Club
since 1963. Nathan was awarded the
distinct honor of the Paul Harris
Fellows Award. He served as president
in 1970-71 and most recently as secretary.
Nathan was a member of the
United Church of Phelps. A long-term
member of the Clifton Springs Country
Club, Nate pursued his favorite pastime,
golf. Nathan Walker is survived
by his loving wife of 38 years, Helen
Taylor Armitage Walker, also a NHS
Class of 1940 graduate. He is also survived
by his son, William Scott (Sandra
M.) Walker of Saltillo, MS; grandsons,
Christopher of Newark and Eric of MS;
grandchildren, Jason Eddington and
Sarah Eddington Young (Elkannah IV)
of Canandaigua; great-grandsons,
Brian Walker and Nathan Young. Nate
was stepfather to Karen Armitage
(Herman) Parcero of Newark, Denise
Armitage Cully of Foundation Valley,
CA., Douglas (Ann) Armitage of
Colleyville, TX; step-grandchildren,
Anthony Parcero of GA., Valerie
Parcero (Joe DeRomanis) of Rochester;
Kristen and Timothy Cully of CA; and
Kathleen Armitage of TX. He was predeceased
by his son, John David; and
daughter, Kimberly Walker Eddington
Oliver. Burial will be at Lodi Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be
made to the United Church of Phelps,

Walters, Harold Bower D.V.M.

WILLIAMSON: Harold Bower
Walters, D.V.M. died January 18, 2003
at age 91 following complications from
a fall. He is survived by his son, David
(Susan) Walters of Walworth, their children,
Jennifer (Scott) Smith of Sodus,
Geoffrey Walters of Colorado; his
daughter, Diane (David) VanLare of
Marion, their children, Andrew
VanLare of Rochester and Laura
(Jamie) Eggleston of Schenectady; his
great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jessica
Smith, Nicholas Eggleston; his cousin,
Everett Gardner of Rochester; his sister-
in-law, Norma Walters of Palmyra;
nephew, Thomas Walters; niece,
Kathryn Barnard. Predeceased by his
wife of 57 years, Ethel Wunder Walters
in 1997 and his brother, John Walters in
2002. Dr. Walters was born on April 6,
1911 in Newark, NY, the son of Harry
and Sybil Walters. After his early education
in Newark, he went to Cornell
University where he was graduated
with a degree in Veterinary Medicine in
1934. A lifelong resident of Wayne
County, Dr. Walters first set up his
practice in Newark, moving to
Williamson in 1945. He continued in
large animal work until 1955, when he
joined the practice of Weber Bros.
Small Animal Hospital, University
Ave., Rochester. After retirement from
the Rochester office, Dr. Walters continued
small animal work in Williamson and at
Marshall Farms in North Rose, NY until the
age of 89. At that time he was the oldest
practicing Veterinarian in New York State.
Since 2000, Dr. Walters made his home at
Blossom View Nursing Home in Sodus,
where he continued to enjoy visits from
family, friends and his cat, Tipper.
Respecting "Docs" wishes there will be
no calling hours. A Memorial Service
will be held on Saturday morning
February 1st at 11 AM at Young
Funeral Home, 4025 West Main St.,
Williamson. The family requests
memorial gifts be made to the Humane
Society of Wayne County, 1475 County
House Road, Lyons, NY 14489.

Carne, Lloyd S.

CLYDE/PALMYRA: Mr. Lloyd S. Carne,
82, of Vienna Street, Palmyra died Tuesday
(January 28, 2003) at his residence. Mr.
Carne had lived in Palmyra for the past 4
years. Surviving are three sons, Stanley
(Caryl) Carne of Clyde, Jerre (Jennifer)
Carne of Simpsonville, SC, and Chris
Carne of Simpsonville, SC, two daughters,
Camellia Cole of Greenville, SC and
Daphne (Scott) Bashor of Greenville, SC
one sister, Margaret Poole of Wheaton, IL,
and 7 grandchildren. Mr. Carne was born
in Gorham, Maine on March 13, 1920. He
was the son of William and Florence Clark
Carne. Lloyd had been a decorated pilot in
the Air Force serving in both World War II
and the Korean Conflict. He had been a
past employee of the Xerox Corporation in
Webster, NY. and was an avid mink farmer.
At his request there will be no prior calling
hours. Spring burial will be in Maple
Grove Cemetery, Clyde.

Dodge, Austin E.

PALMYRA: Died January 29, 2003 at
age 91. Predeceased by his wife
Helene. Survived by his children, Beverly
(Earl) Stauring, Rick Dodge; grandchildren,
Barbara Mattoon, Robert Stauring,
Kimberly Shifflett, Kellie LaPlant, Eric
Dodge; 6 great grandchildren; several
nieces & nephews. He was a member of the
Masonic Lodge for almost 60 yrs. & a longtime
Palmyra businessman. Friends are
invited to call Sunday 2-4 &7-9PM at
McGUIRE/HARGRAVE & MURPHY
FUNERAL HOME 123 East Jackson St,
Palmyra. A Funeral Service will be held
2PM Monday at Palmyra First United
Methodist Church. Burial will be at the
family's convenience. Donations maybe

Methodist Church or Palmyra Fire
Department Oxygen Squad in his memory.

Gordon, Lauren N.

MACEDON: January 26, 2003. Beloved
daughter of Donald and Sue; sister, Kerry;
paternal grandparents, Barbara and Donald
Gordon; maternal grandparents, Doris and
Willis Fisher; 3 aunts and 3 uncles, Sue and
Jim Enderlin, Lin and Bob Colby of GA.,

Hardman, Faustina L.

OSWEGO: Died peacefully on January 26,
2003 at age 86. Predeceased by her husband
Donald J. Sweeney, who was killed in
World War II & Harold A. Hardman, her
sisters, Gladys Besha & Barbara Corey.
She is survived by her daughter Donna
(Niles) Gould of Ontario; granddaughters
Julie (Steve) Haak, Katrina Gould, Kelly
Gould (Steve Smith); great granddaughter
"her baby doll" Sheena Gould; brother-in-law,
Fred Corey; nieces, nephews &
cousins. Funeral services will be held in
the spring at the family’s convenience.

Krocke, Jacob J.

MARION - Jacob Johannes Krocke, 84 of
Joy Road died Friday, January 31, 2003 at
the DeMay Living Center. Family and
friends may call Monday (Feb. 3) from 2-4
at the Norman L. Watennan Funeral Home,
Inc., 124 West Miller Street, Newark. A
Funeral Service will follow calling at 4
p.m. with Rev. John Watkins officiating.
Burial will be at Marion Cemetery in the
Spring. In memory of Mr. Klocke, please
direct your contributions to a charity of
choice. Mr. Krocke was born the son of the
late Adrian and Maatje Leunes Krocke on
September 27, 1918 in Holland. He owned
and operated the Krocke's Farms in the
town of Sodus on Joy Road since 1948.
Mr. Krocke enjoyed hunting, fishing and
his family. Mt. Krocke will be missed by
his loving wife of 61 years, Maria S.
VanderLycke Krocke; son and daughter-inlaw
Peter and Joyce Krocke; daughters and
son-in-law Patricia and Thomas Levis and
Susan Steurrys all of Marion; six grandchildren
and two great grandsons; many
nieces and nephews.

Lockwood, Harold K.

ROSE: Age 92. Died unexpectedly on
January 25, 2003. He was predeceased by
his wife, Helen and daughter, Ellen. He is
survived by 1 daughter, Barbara (Ronald)
Miller of Ontario; 3 sons, Harold (Virginia)
of Melbourne, FL, James (Gail) of
Johnstown, NY and Robert (Mary Lou) of
Wolcott; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren;
special nephew, Gary (Jackie)
Lockwood of Wolcott; sister, Eleanor
(Michael) Petrew of Rochester; several
cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of
flowers, contributions may be made in his
memory to the Wolcott Fire Department or
the Wolcott Presbyterian Church.

Middleton, John W.

PALMYRA: Born in Palmyra, long time
resident of Hyattsville, MD. died
Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003 in St. Paul, MN.
He was 82 years old. Mr. Middleton
attended The University of Michigan and
the George Washington University law
school. He is survived by two brothers,
David (Dolores), and Donald, both of
Rochester, NY; several nephews and
nieces; and close friends, the Gary Davis
family of St. Paul, MN.
Interment will be at Palmyra Cemetery.

Miller Edward P.

MACEDON: Long time Macedon resident
Edward P. Miller passed away on January
22, 2003 at age 92. He was predeceased by
his wife Katherine (Slade) Miller; daughter
Doris (Paul) Holst; son-in-law, Robert
Blanchard; granddaughter, Shirley (Miller)
Spring. He is survived by 5 children, Carl
(Katherine) Miller of Marion, Marlene
Blanchard, Linda (Ronald) Johnson of
Macedon, Frances (Leonard) Freyn,
Phyliss (Richard) Lynch, Prattsburgh, NY;
17 grandchildren: 33 great grandchildren;
4 great- great grandchildren; sister
Elizabeth Lester of Fairport, and many
nieces & nephews. Ed was a lifetime member
of the Macedon Department. His interment
will be held at the convenience of the
family. Those wishing may make contribution
to the Macedon Ambulance in his
memory.

Sharp, Bernice Bower

CLYDE: At age 86, died peacefully on
Saturday (January 25, 2003) in her own
home surrounded by her loving family.
Surviving are two sons, Robert C. (Nan
Dickinson) Sharp of Fairfield Glade, TN,
Paul N. (Carole Riviello) Sharp of Clyde
and one daughter, Doris (Maurice E.)
Dzwigal of Destin, FL. Six grandchildren,
Penny Sharp, Morrie Dzwigal, Kevin, Tim,
Jeff and Paul Sharp; eleven great-grandchildren;
one brother, Charles M. Bower
and several nieces and nephews. Mrs.
Sharp was born on April 27, 1916 in
Salem, Indiana. She was the youngest
daughter of Charles and Eupha Mitchell
Bower. Bernice met her late husband Bob
Sharp and they both moved to upstate NY
in 1935. While she was employed for more
than 30 years at the General Electric
Company, Bob farmed and was a livestock
dealer. Their devotion and success in providing
for their family, and their ever-present
help to friends and neighbors were
cherished by all those whose lives they
touched. Bernice's unconditional love will
be fondly remembered and will sustain our
sense of family, even in her absence. She
was predeceased by her husband, Robert
Napier Sharp, her grandson, Gregory
Dzwigal, her sister, Elsie Bower Atkins
and her brothers, Byron, Willard, Roger
and Leslie Bower. Spring burial will be in
the Rose Cemetery, Rose NY. Flowers will
be welcome or memorial contributions to
the Genesee Region Hospice Program, 513
W. Union St., Newark, NY 14513 or the
Clyde Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O.
Box 145, Clyde NY 14433 would be
appreciated.
