Barbara Gladstone

Died: Saturday, January 29, 2011

Barbara Gladstone of Hauppauge, age 75, died on Jan. 29. She was an educator with Smithtown School District, golfer and gardener.

Mrs. Gladstone was the loving mother of Robert and William; beloved partner of Joseph Lovizio; cherished mother-in-law of Maureen and Tracey; adored grandmother of Collin and Paige; devoted sister of Doris and Henry.

Private cremation was entrusted to Fives Smithtown Funeral Home with a memorial service planned in the spring.

Donations can be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 245 Old Country Road, Melville, NY 11747.

Margery Finley

Died: Saturday, January 29, 2011

Margery B. Finley, 82, of Kent, Ohio, passed away peacefully Jan. 29 at KentRidge At Golden Pond in Kent.

She was born icon May 19, 1928, in Kent, to Leonard and Thelma (Welton) Green. She was an active member of Mount Sinai Congregational Church, the DAR and a Delta Gamma sister. Margie was a community member who focused on helping those in need by her involvement in hospice work, Three Village Meals on Wheels and the ministries of her church. A hands-on grandmother and mother, loving wife, sister and daughter, Margie lived her faith, cherished her friends and provided a strong foundation of love for her family to rest on in good times and in bad.

She is survived by son, Michael (Patty) Finley of Kent; daughters, Susan (Glenn) Gurriell of San Diego, Calif., Gretchen (Joe) Knox of Natick, Mass., and Megan (Tom) Malone of Miller Place; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Marshall Finley; brothers, Stephen Green and David H. Green.

Funeral services in New York will be held at Mount Sinai Congregational Church at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Sinai Congregational Church, 233 North Country Road, Mount Sinai, NY 11766.

Arrangements entrusted to Bissler & Sons Funeral Home and Crematory.

William Hine

Died: Saturday, January 29, 2011

William H. Hine of Mount Sinai died Jan. 29. Mr. Hine was the beloved husband of Carol A.; loving father of William J. (Dawn), Richard J. (Mary), Elizabeth E. Hine, Edward J. (Barbara) and Robert J. (Justine); and cherished grandfather of 23.

A funeral Mass was held Feb. 2 at St. Louis de Montfort R.C. Church, Sound Beach, followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northport VA Medical Center, 79 Middleville Road, Northport, NY 11768.

Arrangements were entrusted to the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes of Miller Place.

Roy Huether

Died: Saturday, January 29, 2011

Roy E. Huether, 83, of Rocky Point, died on Jan. 29. Born in Floral Park, he was the son of the late Edward and the late Grace (Zamminer) Huether. He was a Navy veteran of World War II from 1945 to 1946. He was a mechanic employed by Booth Chevy in Babylon.

Mr. Huether is survived by his daughters, Deborah Scallione of Rocky Point and Cheryl Matheson of Ga.; his sons, William Huether of Mich. and Richard Huether; his brother, Edward Huether of Eagle Bridge; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Clara Huether.

A funeral service was held on Feb. 3. Interment followed at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.

Arrangements were entrusted to Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.

Grace Marie Dunn

Died: Friday, January 28, 2011
Age: 92

Grace Marie Dunn of Port Jefferson died on Jan. 28 in her 92nd year. She was the loving mother of Robert (Irene) and Grace Stoessel (Robert); the dear sister of Edward Jappell (Patricia) and the late Harold Jappell; the cherished grandmother of Robert, Lauren, Justin, Michael, Melissa, Kyle and Taylor; and the great-grandmother of Meaghan, Emily Grace and Hazel.

Funeral services were arranged by Moloney's Port Jefferson Station Funeral Home. Interment was held at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale.

Eleanore M. Hull

Died: Friday, January 28, 2011

Eleanore passed on Jan. 28 at home with her family after a long bout with Parkinson's disease. Eleanore was Dr. Mill's office manager when she first came to Port Jefferson in 1957. After her first husband, George Robinson, died, she married icon Joel Hull.

She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church. She and Joel volunteered at the Welcome INN soup kitchen for four years after her retirement. A talented African violet grower and quilter, she was a member of the Sweetwater African Violet Society and the Smithtown Stitchers Quilt Guild.

Eleanore is survived by her brother, Robert Brown; her children, Cindy Robinson Alba, Nancy Robinson Byers, Linda Hull and Arthur Hull; her grandchildren, Sean Byers, Jessica Byers, Erin Ferrer, Connor Hull and Aidan Hull; and her husband, Joel Hull.

Donations in Eleanore's memory to the American Parkinson's Disease Association would be appreciated.

Theodore Hewlett

Died: Thursday, January 27, 2011

Theodore A. Hewlett of Miller Place died on Jan. 27. Mr. Hewlett was the beloved husband of Dawn; loving stepfather of Colette Wadman and her husband William; cherished grandfather of Ryan.

A Mass was held Jan. 31 at St. Anselm Episcopal Church, Shoreham. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the O.B. Davis Funeral Homes of Miller Place.

Vivian Aronson
Died: Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Vivian Aronson, long-time resident of the Village of Poquott, passed away on May 19, 2010 in her home on Van Brunt Manor Road. She died peacefully with her family around her after a brief illness.

Vivian was born icon in 1944 to Dr. Saul Schwartz and Rebecca Schwartz in Shreveport, La., where her father was stationed during WWII. After Dr. Schwartz's service they returned to their hometown of Milwaukee, Wisc. where Vivian grew up. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1962, following which she worked in Chicago as a social worker and elementary school teacher. In Chicago she met her future husband, Sam Aronson; they were married icon in 1968. Vivian and Sam lived and worked in Chicago and in Madison, Wisc. until 1978, when they moved to Long Island and to Poquott. Their children Rachel and Joseph were born icon in Chicago and Madison, respectively. Early in her life on Long Island Vivian was active in Poquott's village government and civic association.

Here on Long Island Vivian pursued two careers: weaving and social work. In the former, which became her avocation, she was a member of the Paumanok Weaver's Guild and maintained a life-long interest in spinning and weaving. In the latter she received advanced training at Stony Brook University's School of Social Work, earning her Master's degree and CSW certificate. She worked for Suffolk County, several school districts and local agencies. Later she received training in psychoanalysis at the Suffolk Institute for Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis and maintained a private practice in Port Jefferson until 2007.

Outside of work and weaving, Vivian's abiding interests — aside from her family and children — were in gardening and the environment. As a gardener she focused mainly on flowers and fruit and nut trees. In recent years she became a member of the Three Village Garden Club. As an environmentalist she made sure the Aronson home was an early adopter of solar heating and hot water, solar electric power and hybrid electric cars.

Vivian is survived by her husband and children on Long Island and in Oregon and a sister and brother in Wisconsin. She was a devoted and loving mother, life partner and family person and she was taken too soon.

The funeral will be held at 2 pm this afternoon, Friday, May 21, at I. J. Morris, 21 East Deer Park Road, Dix Hills (631-499-6060).

Carol Case
Died: Tuesday, May 11, 2010

Carol Case, age 72 of St. James, died on May 11.

She was the beloved mother of Jeanine (John) Fazzini and Denise Case; loving grandmother of Nicholas; cherished sister of Pat Klouda, Richard Keane, Judy Losee and Lynn Keane.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at Sts. Philip & James RC Church in St. James. Interment followed at Rockville Cemetery, Lynbrook.

Arrangements entrusted to the Vigliante family at The Branch Funeral Home of Smithtown.

John R. Baldwin
Died: Friday, May 07, 2010
Age: 51

John R. Baldwin of Rocky Point died on May 7. He was the devoted husband of Christine for 29 years; loving father of Erin, Meghan and Johnny; and devoted son of Joan and the late William. Also survived by Romeo, Bowser, family, friends, fellow SCPD and parrotheads. A police service was held May 10. Cremation May 11 at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations to the Suffolk County PAL, 30 Yaphank Ave., Yaphank, NY 11980 would be appreciated.

Anthony J. Daleo Sr.
Died: Friday, May 07, 2010

Anthony J. Daleo Sr. of Selden died on May 7 in his 78th year. He was the beloved husband of Rita for 48 years; the cherished father of Judith (Lisa), Michelle Flaherty (Billy), Anthony (Margaret), Joseph (Sue), Gina (Tony) and Carmela Bayer (Bill); the adored grandfather of Billy, Nicky, Matt, Brianna, Rachel, Joseph, Olivia, Michael, Dominique, Nicolette, Tyler, Carmela, Anthony, Isabella, Francesca, Peter and Adam; the great-grandfather of Taliah; the dear brother-in-law to Julie and Anne; and Uncle Tony to many.

Funeral services were arranged by Moloney's Port Jefferson Station Funeral Home. Interment at Washington Memorial Park, Mount Sinai.

Brian Thibadeau
Died: Wednesday, May 05, 2010

Brian Anthony Thibadeau, 31, died April 5. Born on August 21, 1978, in New Britain, Conn., he was the son of Brian D. and MaryAnn Thibadeau.

He was a member of the maintenance department for Sunrise Assisted Living in Bay Shore.

Known to some of his family as "Uncle Barney," he enjoyed playing sports and was an avid fan of the NY Mets, the Giants and "Man vs. Wild" on the Discovery Channel. He also enjoyed salt water fishing.

Mr. Thibadeau is survived by his wife, Gintare "Amber" Thibadeau; parents, Brian D. and MaryAnn Thibadeau; brothers, Stephen and Michael Thibadeau; grandmother, Grace Quartararo and his best friend Steve.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Frank Quartararo.

A Mass was held at St. Margaret of Scotland RC on April 8. Interment followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.

Elizabeth Peterman
Died: Tuesday, May 04, 2010

Elizabeth Peterman of Smithtown died on May 4 at the age of 80. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, a eucharistic minister and a graduate of St. Vincent's Nursing School.

She was the wife of the late William L. Peterman; the beloved mother of Paul (Michelle), Theresa (Thomas) Ahern, Clare (Geoff) Blythe, Gregory (Kathryn), Edward (Stephanie), Mark (Christine) and Ann Marie (Eduardo) Montiero; the loving sister of Helen Donohue, James Manning, Theresa Keller and Bernadette Lavin. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A religious service was held on May 7. A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 8 at St. Patrick's R.C. Church. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to Hawkins and Davis Funeral Home of Smithtown.
