Obituary: Raymond F. "Pete" Bleau, age 87, of S. Otsego St., a longtime Mohawk resident, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 1, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica.

Pete was born February 27, 1918 in Ilion, son of the late Louis and Bessie (Suters) Bleau. He was a graduate of Ilion High School. A veteran of WWII, Pete served with the US Army Air Corps in the European Theater of War. On June 25, 1942, he was united in marriage to Mildred "Millie" Anhel, a blessed union of 62 years. Pete was employed in the publication department at Sperry Rand-Univac in Ilion for 30 years. He was later employed by the Remington Arms Co., retiring in 1982. Pete was a member of the Mohawk Reformed Church, Ilion-Frankfort Masonic Lodge, and AARP.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Mildred "Millie" Bleau; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Donna and Stephen Seifritz of Syracuse; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Donna Bleau of Colorado; one sister, Betty Seymour of VA; one brother, Carl Bleau of Ilion; four cherished grandchildren, Christopher Bleau, Niccole Bleau, Caitlin Seifritz, Molly Seifritz; one great-grandson, Edison Bleau; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pete was predeceased by his sisters, Ardel Lockyer and Dorothy Finnegan; two brothers, Kenneth Bleau and Louis Bleau.

Family and friends are invited to Mr. Bleau's funeral service Thursday, May 5th, commencing at 2 p.m. at the Mohawk Reformed Church. Following the funeral service, a gathering will be held in the church hall for refreshments and fellowship. Interment will take place 4 p.m. (Thursday) at Armory Hill Cemetery. There are no public calling hours.

In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorial contributions in Pete's name to the Mohawk Reformed Church. Donation envelopes will be available at the church.

All arrangements have been entrusted to the Graves-Applegate-Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk.

Joyce L. Degenshein
Joyce L. Degenshein, 75, of Prindle Apartments, 80 E. North St., Ilion, formerly of Frankfort, died Wednesday, April 12, at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion.

She was born Feb. 21, 1931, in Ilion, the daughter of Kenneth and Martha (Pierce) Smith, and graduated from Ilion High School. Joyce was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force. In 1952, she was married to Irving Degenshein in Virginia. He died in 1976. Joyce was employed as a secretary at H.M. Quackenbush Co. of Herkimer for 20 years. She was an active member and current vice president of the Mohawk Valley Garden Club.

Joyce was an active member and organist at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for many years. Her church activities included children's primary organization with music, Family History Center worker and member of the church's Relief Society. Joyce was always working with the children in the church's annual talent shows. She taught the children different songs in English and some in German, and was always performing with her ventriloquist "friend," Penelope. Joyce was also very famous for her annual Christmas cookie party, baking hundreds of different kinds of cookies.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan "Sue" Roeder of Uncasville, Conn.; her granddaughter, Rebekah Roeder; her grandson, Jared Roeder; her sister, Karen Sauer of Mohawk, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Frances Goewey.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, April 17, at 11 .m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 317 Gros Blvd., East Herkimer. Dedication and interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, at the Graham Cemetery, Hubbardsville.

Calling hours are Monday from 9-11 a.m. at the church prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk Valley Garden Club or the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, Ilion, or during the calling hours at the church on Monday.

The family offers special thanks to the third floor staff at the Mohawk Valley Nursing Home for the excellent care and kindness given to Joyce.

Joyce's family has entrusted all funeral and burial arrangements to Don Applegate of the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion (895-7722).

Lorraine J. Treen

Obituary: Lorraine J. Treen, 78, of Edgewater, Fla., formerly a longtime Valley resident, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2007, in Florida.

Lorraine was born May 6, 1928, in Herkimer, daughter of the late Elias and Florence (LaFluer) LaFontain. She attended local schools. On May 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Edward W. "Ed" Treen Jr. in Herkimer. Mr. Treen owned and operated Treen's Used Car Sales of Frankfort. Lorraine was a member of the Moose Club, Women of the Moose Chapter 31. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother to her beloved family.

Survivors include her husband, Ed at home; children, Constance Reel of Little Falls, Lorraine Carpenter of Frankfort, Deborah Yeagle and Don Miles of Frankfort and daughter Alanna Bedworth, Donald Treen and his wife Julie of Florida and Stephanie Wheelock and her husband John of Florida; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Georgette Conroy of Herkimer, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John and Rita Treen of Frankfort, Charles and Lillian Treen of Cedar Lake, Carl and Lois Treen of Mohawk, Henry and Eileen Treen of Ilion, Richard and Marie Treen of Ilion, Larry Treen of Arizona, Ruth and Sam Pileggi of Utica, Cora Mauro of Long Island, Elizabeth and Gordon Hight of Frankfort, Genevieve and Arthur Dunckel of Ilion, Helen and Jerry Licari of Frankfort, Jane Treen of Arizona, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son, Edward W. Treen III, her sisters, Carmen LaFontaine and Elaine Frank, son-in-law, William Carpenter and sisters-in-law, Beulah Johnson, Edna Prosser and Virginia Treen.

Mrs. Treen's funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 18, commencing at 10 a.m. at the Applegate and Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Father Anthony Barratt, pastor of the Church of Annunciation, officiating. Interment will be in Armory Hill Cemetery.

Family and friends are invited to visitation Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The Ilion Moose Lodge Women of the Moose memorial service will be held at 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. Donation envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Elizabeth A. Jantosciak
Date of Death: 2/4/2007

Obituary: Elizabeth A. “Betty” Jantosciak, 95, a long time Little Falls resident, passed away on Sunday February 4, 2007 at the Loretto Center, Syracuse, NY.

She was born November 19, 1911 in Little Falls the daughter of the late Frank & Mary (Feil) Kling, and attended St. Mary’s Academy.

Her marriage to Samuel Jantosciak took place on July 6, 1936 at St. Mary’s Parish House in Little Falls by Reverend Burns. The couple shared a blessed union of 51 years until the passing of Mr. Jantosciak in 1987.

Betty was employed at the former Allegro Shoe Co. in Little Falls for 20 years until her retirement.

Mrs. Jantosciak was a member of Holy Family Parish and Rock City Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons, James S. Jantosciak of New York City, & Robert S. Jantosciak of Fayetteville, a grandson, Robert S. Jantosciak, II of Orlando, Florida, several nieces & nephews and many great nieces & great nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a brother, Joseph Kling, and two sisters, Magdalena Waterman & Rose Oliver.

Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Reverend Anthony Ligato, pastor, on Thursday February 8, 2007 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Parish, corner of John & Main St., Little Falls. Spring burial will in Church Street Cemetery. There are no public Calling Hours.

Arrangements are by the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY. All memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Parish or any organization supporting research into the causes of dementia. Envelopes will be available at the church.

George L. Frongetta, 63, of Bergen died Saturday, March 26, 2005.

Norman R. Hoskins, 55, of Byron died Saturday, March 26, 2005.

Mrs. Joan Follaco, 79, of Pavilion died Sunday, March 27, 2005.
