Edna T. Holubowich, 85 years old of Port Jefferson Station, died May 30.
She was born
June 8, 1927, in New York, the daughter of John and Sarah Murphy.
Edna was a retired telephone operator for New York Telephone.
She is survived by her sons, William (Fran) and Michael (Judy); three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her brother, James Murphy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; and her brothers, John and Mike.
Services were held at St. James R.C. Church, June 1. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

James T. McNeely, of St. James, formerly of Floral Park, died on May 29.
He was the beloved husband of the late Frances; loving father of James McNeely, Margaret Cortright, Mary Beth Wilkinson and the late Patricia McNeely; cherished grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of 10.
A funeral Mass was held at Sts. Philip and James R.C. Church. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

Marie De Genova, age 91, of Stony Brook, died on May 25. She was born
Sept. 8, 1921, in New York.
She was the beloved wife of the late Andrew; loving mother of Frank De Genova and Barbara Argenzio (David); cherished grandmother of Lori Souther, Gary Manise and Alexandra De Genova; and adored great-grandmother of Madison, Reilly, Andrew and Will.

Joseph Cash
Died: Friday, August 02, 2013
Longtime community resident Joseph S. Cash, 87 years old, died Aug. 2. He was born
Feb. 22, 1926, in Winthrop, Mass., the son of Daniel and Margaret Cash.
Captain Joe was a Navy veteran of World War II who achieved a master’s degree from Northeastern University and won The Honorable J. Pinny Award as the athlete in New England who displayed the most personal courage and commitment to academic and athletic endeavors.
Captain Joe met Vivian Baldwin in 1947 and shortly thereafter married
her. They raised nine children and had 20 wonderful years together until her death.
He ran a fleet of charter fishing boats based in Port Jefferson, and found happiness again when he married
Margie (Bade) Quinn. Captain Joe was a retired math teacher for the Smithtown school district, as well as a mariner and fisherman.
He is survived by wife, Margie; daughters, Maggie and Katie; sons, Roy, Stewart, Peter, Bruce, Sean, Kevin and Jeffrey; stepson, James; 35 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren, along with other family and friends.
Services were held at Infant Jesus R.C. Church on Aug. 9. Captain Joe was afforded full military honors at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.

Paul Rusch

Paul J. Rusch, age 78, of Edison, N.J., formerly of Selden, died on July 31.
The United States Air Force veteran was the beloved father of William (Robin) Rusch and Michael Rusch; the cherished grandfather of Christopher, Cassondra, Jerry, Danielle, Bella and Brody; and the dear brother of Ruth Muesse and the late Arthur Rusch.
A religious service was held Aug. 5 at the funeral home. Entombment followed at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.

Anja Vaccaro

Anja Kyllikki Vaccaro, of Eaton’s Neck, died on July 31 in Melville. She was born
on Jan. 14, 1939, in Loimaa, Finland, the daughter of Martti and Aili Ahlberg Lehto. A homemaker and stunning model, she was one of the Marimekko models sent to NYC in 1963. Kyllikki Beach in Eaton’s Neck is so named in her honor.
Mrs. Vaccaro is survived by her longtime companion, Michael Suchocki of Eaton’s Neck, and her sons Francis (Maria) Joseph Vaccaro of Long Island City and David Martin Vaccaro.
A service was held at the funeral home on Aug. 3, the Rev. Robert R. Schoepflin of the Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in Fort Salonga officiating. Cremation took place the next day at Nassau-Suffolk Crematory Ltd. in Lake Ronkonkoma.

Grace Battuello, age 94, of Rocky Point, died Monday, July 29. Born in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late Michael and the late Carmella (Cassmassimo) DeSandis. She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Vittorio Joseph Battuello, to whom she was married
to for 55 years. She was a homemaker in Rocky Point. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Donna Murphy of Rocky Point; son-in-law, William Murphy; and her granddaughter, Cheryl.
A Mass of Christian burial was held July 31 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Rocky Point, with the Rev. Richard P. Hoerning officiating. Burial followed in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Coram.

Caroline Rubino of Northport died on July 29 in East Northport.
She was born
on Dec. 26, 1927, in New York, the daughter of Frank and Carmela Cantino Monzolino. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Rubino is survived by her sons, Frank (Kathleen) Mosquera, Joseph (Irene) Rubino and Nicholas Rubino; her daughters, Rosemary (the late Edward) Bradley and Carmella (Anthony) Martino of East Northport; her sister, Mary Villani; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at the funeral home on July 31, followed the next day by interment at Calverton National Cemetery.

Catherine Hastings
Died: Sunday, September 16, 2012
Catherine Hastings (nee Higgins) of Smithtown, died on Sept. 16, at age 86.
She was born
August 31, 1926, in New York City and grew up in Ridgewood, Queens.
Mrs. Hastings was a valedictorian at Grover Cleveland High School and a graduate of Katherine Gibbs College.
She worked as a legal secretary for prominent New York law firm Shearman & Sterling. Later on she worked in the Development Office at St. Anthony’s High School.
Devoted reader, baker, golfer, bridge player and solver of the NYT crossword puzzles.
She was married
for 55 short years to the late beloved Harry. She was the loving mother of Tom (Arlen) of Princeton, NJ, Mary Kay of Washington, D.C., Suzanne (Bob Farrell) of Smithtown and Victoria (David Garcia) of Ithaca; grandmother of Sara and Kevin Hastings, Zachary and Emmitt Moore, Christopher and Patrick Farrell, Daniel and Patience Garcia; and sister of John Higgins.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at Infant Jesus R.C. Church, Port Jefferson.
