Adele H. Smith, 86 years old, of Setauket, died Sept. 16. She was born
Feb. 2, 1926, in Springdale, Pa., the daughter of Michael and Agnes DeBreceny.
She was a retired food service manager at Plainview High School.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda S. Obernauer; grandchildren, Adam and Charlene; along with many other friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert.
Services were held at Calverton National Cemetery, Sept. 21. Interment immediately followed.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket.
Anthony E. Spagnolo
Died: Friday, September 14, 2012
Anthony E. Spagnolo, 71 of Johnson City, Tenn., formerly of Rocky Point, died Wednesday Sept. 14. Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Edward and the late Emily (Consoli) Spagnolo. He was the owner of Van Buren Truck Transmission, Medford.
Mr. Spagnolo is survived by his wife, Carol (Criscitello) Spagnolo; daughters, Laurie Sommer of Rocky Point, Donna Hiscock of Cape Coral, Fla., Dolores Hasemann of Mount Sinai, Debra Zimmer and Tracy Spagnolo; sons, Anthony Spagnolo of Port Jefferson Station, James Spagnolo of Mount Sinai and Edward Spagnolo of Sound Beach; and his brother, Frank Spagnolo; 18 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday, Sept. 19, at St. Louis de Montfort R.C. Church, Sound Beach. Interment followed in Washington Memorial Park, Mount Sinai.
The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation, 5 Channel Drive, Port Washington, NY 11050.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.
Louise Brackett
Died: Friday, September 14, 2012
Louise Brackett, 61 of Miller Place, died Friday, Sept. 14. Born in Methuen, Mass., she was the daughter of the late George and the late Jeanette (Cote) Brackett.
She was a tax examiner, employed by IRS, Holtsville.
Mrs. Brackett is survived by her husband, Alan Perreault.
A private burial was arranged by her husband.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.
Louise M. Simpson
Died: Friday, September 14, 2012
Louis M. Simpson, 89 of Stony Brook, died on Sept. 14. He was born
March 27, 1923, in Kingston, Jamaica, the son of Aston and Rosalind Simpson.
He was a retired English professor at Stony Brook University and a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his sons, Matthew and Anthony; his daughter, Anne; and his grandsons, Keith and Gary.
Services were held at the Caroline Church of Brookhaven on Sept. 27. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket.
Salvatore Joseph Desposito
Died: Wednesday, September 12, 2012
Salvatore Joseph Desposito died on Sept. 12 at the age of 91 years.
Salvatore honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was retired from the Half Hollow Hills School district. He loved to sing.
He was the beloved husband of Antonina Desposito (nee Daidone); loving father of Patricia Marie Coulson, Theresa Marie Haydon and the late Ann-Marie Victoria Murphy; cherished grandfather of Bret Matthew Coulson, Derek Jonathan Coulson, Antonina Dee Haydon, James Joseph Murphy Jr. and Eric Rose Keaveny; great-grandfather of Thomas Keaveny and Abigail Keaveny; and dear son of the late Peter and Anna Desposito.
A funeral Mass was held Sept. 15 at St. Matthew R.C. Church, Dix Hills. Interment was at St. Charles Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Brueggemann Funeral Home of East Northport Inc.
Dorothy J. Walsh
Died: Wednesday, September 12, 2012
Dorothy J. Walsh, age 84, of Mt. Holly, N.C. (formerly of Mount Sinai) died on Sept. 12.
She was the beloved wife of the late William; loving mother of Jim and Norma Walsh, Susan and Don Sharpe, Patricia and Jim Queeney; cherished grandmother of four and great-grandmother of one. She is also survived by one sister and her dog Daisy.
A funeral Mass was held Sept. 17 at St. Gerard Majella R.C. Church in Port Jefferson Station, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.

Kenneth P. Brady

Kenneth P. Brady, 74, of Ridge, formerly of Ozone Park, died on Sept. 11. He was born
March 27, 1938 in Queens.
He was the beloved husband of Maureen; loving father of Maureen and Anthony Pantaleo, Rev. James Brady S.M.M., David and Donna Brady, and the late Joseph Brady; cherished grandfather of Jenna, Kristina, Michael, Kayla and Laura; dear brother of Joyce O’Brien.
A funeral Mass was celebrated by his son, Rev. James Brady S.M.M., Saturday, Sept. 15, at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church in Wading River. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery.

Joseph P. Guercio, 84, a lifelong resident of Smithtown, died on Sept. 11. He was the husband of the late Edith A.; beloved father of Cheryl Ann Potter, Denise Erdman, John J. and Sandra Juarez; loving brother of Rosalie Hirsch. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A religious service was held at the funeral home on Sept. 13. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Sept. 14 at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery with military honors.

Paul Westbrook
Died: Tuesday, September 11, 2012
Paul R. Westbrook, 42 years old, a longtime community resident, died Sept. 11. He was born
March 27, 1970, in Queens, the son of Robert and Patricia Westbrook. Paul was raised in Stony Brook and graduated from Ward Melville High School.
He was a customer service representative for the Internal Revenue Service.
He was a United States Army veteran of the Gulf War.
He is survived by his father, Robert; sisters, Christine and Amanda; brother Peter; along with many other special friends and family.
Services were held at St. James R.C. Church on Sept. 15. Mr. Westbrook was afforded full military honors at St. James Churchyard Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket.
Violet Rau
Died: Monday, May 20, 2013
Violet M. Rau, 87, of Smithtown, passed on May 20.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wilbur; loving mother of Robert and Richard; adored grandmother of five and great-grandmother of five.
A service was held at the funeral home. Interment followed at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Audrey H. Cooper, of St. James, died on May 18. She was born
Sept. 1, 1926, in Brooklyn.
Audrey was past owner and CEO of Decal Makers, Inc., Bellmore; and an active thoroughbred horse owner; winner of The Mother Goose Race 1996 with her horse, Yanks Music.
Audrey was the devoted wife of the late Patrick Hastings and the late Leonard Cooper; beloved mother of Leslie Bensi (David Nielsen) and Linda Hennessy (Matthew); loving grandmother of Lisa, Amanda, Brett, Erin, Matthew, Evan and Sarah; fond great-grandmother of Connor, Nicholas and Landon.
A prayer service was held Friday, May 24, followed by interment at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Farmingdale.
Arrangements were entrusted to O.B. Davis Funeral Homes of Port Jefferson Station.
Marie Barbuto
Died: Saturday, May 18, 2013
Marie Josephine Barbuto, of Eatons Neck, died on May 18 in Maryville, Tenn. She was born
in Brooklyn on Sept. 2, 1928, to Anthony and Nancy Taranto LaCava. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Women’s Home Extension in Eatons Neck, and served on the Northport Board of Elections for many years.
Mrs. Barbuto is survived by her daughters, Roseann Keiles of Northport and Doris Lehr; her son, Thomas Barbuto; her grandchildren, William and Danielle Lehr; and her great-granddaughter, Angelina.
The funeral took place on May 22 at St. Philip Neri R.C. Church in Northport, followed by interment at Northport Rural Cemetery.
