Gregory Walkulich, 82, of Smithtown, died on Sept. 6. He was the beloved father of William and the late Gregory; the cherished grandfather of Jennifer Fiocca, Gregory, Cindy Perrotta and Billy. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
Panachida services were held on Sept. 9; divine liturgy on Sept. 10. Interment with honors took place at Calverton National Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to Hawkins and Davis Funeral Home of Smithtown.
Efren Ayala
Died: Thursday, September 06, 2012
Efren Ayala, 85 years old, of East Setauket, died Sept. 6. He was born
Nov. 27, 1926, in the Philippines, the son of Alejo and Antonina Ayala.
He was a retired radio operator for RCPI in the Philippines.
He is survived by his wife, Luisa; sons, Noel and Ramon; daughter, Maria; along with many other family and friends.
Services were held at the funeral home on Sept. 12 with Father Jim Bukoesky officiating. Interment followed in Marikina City, Philippines.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket.
Anthony W. Butera
Died: Thursday, September 06, 2012
Anthony W. Butera, 89 years old of Port Jefferson, died Sept. 6. He was born
Aug. 20, 1922, in Port Jefferson, the son of Ignazio and Antonina Butera.
He was a retired aeronautical engineer for NASA in Langleyfield, Va.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores; sons, Thomas (Mary Kay), Anthony Jr., Francis (Faye), Michael (Gina); daughter, Anne Celeste (Ben); and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son James.
Services were held at Infant Jesus RC Church on Sept. 8. Mr. Butera was afforded full military honors at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket.
Linda Kurathowski
Died: Wednesday, September 05, 2012
Linda Kurathowski, 66, of Miller Place, died Wednesday, Sept. 5. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Evan and the late Mildred (Rose) Widercrantz.
She was a secretary, employed by Stony Brook University Hospital, Stony Brook.
Mrs. Kurathowski is survived by her husband, Edward Kurathowski; daughter, Gwen Kessel and son, Edward Kurathowski of Huntington; brother, Jon Kurathowski of Ithaca and six grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother, James Kurathowski and sister, Susan Lackner.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 8 at St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Rocky Point. Interment followed at Seaview Cemetery, Mount Sinai.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Rocky Point Funeral Home of Rocky Point.
James P. Ward
Died: Wednesday, September 05, 2012
James P. Ward, age 89 of Smithtown, died on Sept. 5.
They Shall Not Be Forgotten. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Ward was the beloved husband of Audrey; devoted father of James (Denise) Ward, Stephen (Allison) Ward and Amara Ward; loving grandfather of Elissa, Julia, Laura and Matthew; dear brother of Mike, Tom, John, Kay and Betty.
He is survived by many other family members and friends.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church. Interment followed at Queen of All Saints.

Elizabeth A. Ernst, 69, of Port Jefferson, died Sept. 5. She was born
Sept. 20, 1942, in Glen Cove, the daughter of John and Anna Webber. Elizabeth was the proprietor of the Pub Penny Lane in Shirley.
She is survived by her daughter, Senta (Billy) Kelly; sons, Richard and Joseph; and nine grandchildren.
Services were held at the funeral home Sept. 8. Committal services were private.

Carol Stowby

Carol Stowby, 79, of St. James, died on Sept. 4. She was the beloved mother of Christine Barresi, Laila Rusciano and Elaine Novellano; and the loving sister of Arthur Stowby. She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 7 at the funeral home. Interment followed at Smithtown Cemetery.

April 26, 1930, in Queens, the daughter of Antonio and Anna Scibelli.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen, along with many other family and friends.
Services were held at Pinelawn Memorial Park, Sept. 6 with interment following.

Aug. 3, 1933, in the Bronx.
Mr. Haynia was the beloved husband of Marilyn; loving father of Michael Haynia (Kimberly), James Haynia, Thomas Haynia (Heather), George Haynia (Jennifer), Jean Vescovo (Vito), and Daniel Haynia (Jack Hoffmann); cherished grandfather of 14 and great-grandfather of one.
A funeral Mass will be held today, Thursday, Sept. 6, at 10 am at St. Louis de Montfort R.C. Church, Sound Beach. Interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

William Francis Glebus, 82, of Peachtree Corners, Ga., formerly of Natick, Mass., passed away on May 11.
Bill served as a firefighter for the Huntington Fire Department.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Bill is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rose Glebus of Peachtree Corners, Ga.; sons and their spouses, William F. Glebus Jr. of Dallas Texas, Kevin and Christine Glebus of Sandwich, Mass., and Timothy and Cathy Glebus of Roanoke, Va.; daughters and their spouses, Kathy Brown of Sandwich, Mass., and Jennifer and John Rorke of Minneapolis, Minn.; stepdaughters and their spouses, Cori and Curt Conners of Suwannee, Ga., Julie and Marty Hile of Atlanta, Ga., and Claudia and Rick Beesley of Nashville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Nathan and Sam Brown, Patrick and Kelly Glebus, Franny and J.J. Rorke, Preston Beesley, and Steven and Michelle Delaney; and great-granchildren, Riley and Hailey Delaney. He was the son of Vincent, former deputy chief for the Natick Fire Department, and Viola Glebus.
Funeral services were held on May 18, at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody, Ga. Graveside services were held on May 19, at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Thomasville, Ga.
