Jeffrey Arnold, of Port Jefferson Station, died on May 2. He was born icon Nov. 20, 1962, in Glen Cove.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, May 11, at the Church on the Sound, Stony Brook.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jeffrey’s name to the Church on the Sound.

Paul Constas

Died: Thursday, May 02, 2013
Age: 86

Paul Constas, 86, of East Setauket, died May 2. He was born icon March 4, 1927, in Woodside, the son of Nicholas and Martha Constas. He was a retired teacher for BOCES.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Valerie Geiler; sons, Father Maximus and Luke; grandchildren, Danielle and Dean Geiler.

Services were held at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Assumption Church in Port Jefferson, on May 7. Interment followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket.

Esther G. Frontz

Died: Sunday, September 02, 2012

Esther G. Frontz, 84, of Centereach, died on Sept. 2.

She was the cherished wife of the late William; loving mother of William and Chris.

A funeral service was held on Sept. 6 at the funeral home. Burial followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Maher Family of the St. James Funeral Home, in St. James.

Laila Sylvia Dahl

Nov. 7, 1940 – Sept. 2, 2012

Laila Sylvia Dahl of South Setauket, previously of Calverton, died on Sept. 2 after a long and courageous battle with an illness. Laila was born icon in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, to Alma and Sigvald Dahl on Nov. 7, 1940. She was a graduate of Fort Hamilton High School, Brooklyn College and studied costume design at Yale School of Drama.

Laila is survived by her sister, Allis Dahl Johansen of Pompton Plains, N.J.; niece Susan Johansen Shiels (Patrick) of Pelham, and their children P.J., Christian and Anna; nephew Glenn Johansen (Deborah) of Orinda, Calif., and their children Trevor, Justin and Erik; and nephew Steven Johansen (Patricia) of Lisle, Ill., and their children, Heather and Marisa.

During her career, Laila worked in development and fundraising positions for various organizations including the Metropolitan Transit Authority, NYU Hospital and the American Lung Association. Early in her career, she also designed costumes for off-Broadway productions.

Laila was a gifted artisan and designer and had exceptional talent for drawing, painting, knitting, sewing and quilting, and a unique ability to capture ordinary moments and turn them into beautiful works of art. Laila’s loving spirit will be missed by her family and many friends.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice, 245 Old Country Road, Melville, NY 11747.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket.

Andrew S. Agulnek

Died: Saturday, September 01, 2012

Andrew S. Agulnek, of Centereach, died on Sept. 1 in his 49th year.

He was the beloved son of Milton and Rhoda; loving brother of Karen and dear uncle of Jordon Gedocht.

Arrangement’s were made by Moloney’s Lake Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 132 Ronkonkoma Ave., Lake Ronkonkoma.

Cremation was private at Nassau-Suffolk Crematory, Lake Ronkonkoma.

Joan Nellis Fox

Died: Friday, August 31, 2012

Joan Nellis Fox, 81, of Argyle, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born July 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Vivian (Holden) Nellis.

Joan graduated from Andrew Jackson High School, Saint Albans, Queens, and then Lenox Hill School of Nursing in 1952.

On Jan. 9, 1960, Joan married icon Bernard Fox in Cambria Heights, Queens, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They were happily married icon for 31 years before Bernard’s passing.

Joan worked as a registered nurse at Lenox Hill Hospital, Long Island Jewish Hospital in Jamaica, Queens and the Adirondack Arc in Tupper Lake.

Together, Bernard and Joan raised their family of nine children in Port Jefferson. In 1981, Joan, Bernard and their daughter, Bernadette moved to Tupper Lake. After Bernard’s passing, Joan moved to Argyle with Bernadette.

Joan was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Edward and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Tupper Lake.

Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Edwin Fox and Stephen Gibbs.

Survivors include her sons, Andrew P. and his wife, Jane (O’Brien) Fox of Baiting Hollow, and Thomas P. and his wife, Carol (Macys) Fox of Port Jefferson; her daughter, Bernadette Christy and her husband, Christopher of Argyle; her stepsons, Stephen B. Fox of Mount Sinai, Gerald L. and his wife, Jan Fox of Oshkosh, Wisc., Kevin M. and his wife, Denise Fox of Middle Island, and Michael and his wife, Susan Fox of Briarcliff Manor; her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Johnson Gibbs of San Jose, Calif.; and her brother, Edwin Nellis of Los Angeles, Calif. Joan was a beloved grandmother to Michelle, Ryan, Sean, Daniel, James, Caitlin, Allison and Ellen Fox, and Aidan and Lily Christy, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Joan’s request, there were no calling hours. A memorial service was conducted Saturday, Sept. 8, at St. Joseph’s Church, Fort Edward, with Rev. Thomas Babiuch, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Argyle.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Friends of Washington County Hospice, 415 Lower Main St., Hudson Falls, NY 12839.

Arrangements are under the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main St. Argyle.

Christopher Hegarty

Died: Thursday, August 30, 2012

Christopher Michael Hegarty died on Aug. 30 at age 50. Chris graduated from Smithtown High School in 1979. He loved boating, scuba diving and cars. He resided in the village of Old Bridge, N.J.

He was the son of the late Michael and Barbara Hegarty. Chris was very loved by all of his nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and countless friends. He had two children, Christopher and Brittany. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Michael (Sue), Peter, Patricia (Ray) Micciche, Bob (Lorraine), Bunny (Joe) Frey, Jimmy (Jessica) and the late Maryellen.

Visitation was left in the hands of the Maher family at St. James Funeral Home of St. James, and a Mass followed at Sts. Philip & James Church.

His family asks that in Christopher’s memory everyone would please consider being an organ donor.

Victoria Rodas Jr.

Died: Wednesday, August 29, 2012

Victor Rodas Jr. of Hauppauge died on Aug. 29, in his 82nd year. He was the beloved husband of the late Victoria; devoted father of Victor, David, Roy, Stella Wagter, Christine Novacek, Deborah Wilkinson, Dawn Mock and Holly Shiu; dear brother of Salvatore; cherished grandfather of 23 and great-grandfather of 18.

Arrangements were made by Moloney’s Hauppauge Funeral Home. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

Dolores R. Vitale

Died: Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Dolores R. Vitale, 79, of Port Jefferson Station, died on August 28. She was born icon Oct 2, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pa.

She was the beloved mother of Dominic, Lori Kneessy and Monica Petti; loving grandmother of Christina, James, Lauren, Michael, Mya, John and Morgan. Dear sister of Sammy Valente and the late Anthony Valente.

Friends may call at the Casimir Funeral Home, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, today, Thursday, August 30 and Friday, August 31, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, at noon at Sts. Philip and James R.C. Church, St. James. Entombment will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Donations made to the Good Shepherd Hospice will be appreciated.

Henry J. Wheller

Died: Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Henry J. Wheller, age 96, of Smithtown, formerly of Wantagh, died on Aug. 28.

He was a proud U.S. Army WWII Veteran and Silver Star recipient. Mr. Wheller was a graduate of Brooklyn Law School and admitted to the NYS Bar in 1948. He was retired from the firm of Montfort, Healy, McGuire & Salley.

Mr. Wheller was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen; loving father of Brian Wheller, Mary Sheehan (Dave), Andrew Wheller, Noreen Wheller, Jeannine Chelonis (John), the late Henry, and the late Kathleen Frost (James); and cherished grandfather of James Frost Jr. and Daniel Sheehan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, Thursday, Aug. 30, at 9:45 am at St. Patrick R.C. Church. Burial to follow at Calverton National Cemetery with Military Honors.

Genevieve E. Bossey

Died: Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Genevieve E. Bossey, 92 years old, a longtime community resident, died Aug. 28. She was born icon Oct. 29, 1919, in Huntington, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Hammond.

She was a member of the Setauket Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Port Jefferson Senior Citizens Club and Over 50 Club at St. James R.C. Church. Genevieve loved to cook, read, travel and especially loved the Setauket Fire Department.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan; eight grandchildren; sister, Catherine Scharbach; along with many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by husband, Stephen; son, Gordon; and brother, Richard.

Services were held at the funeral home Sept. 2. Interment followed in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Smithtown.

Contributions made to the University Hospital Burn Unit, HSC Rm T19-020, Stony Brook, NY 11794-8191, Attn: Joan Kavanaugh, would be appreciated.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Bryant Funeral Home of Setauket.

Heinz R. Nadler ‘Harry’

Died: Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Heinz Nadler entered eternal life on Aug. 28 after courageously battling pancreatic cancer. He was 78 years young.

He died with his loving wife, Evelyn of 51 years, by his side. He was born icon in Zug, Switzerland.

At age 14, he left home and started training in Zurich, Switzerland as a pastry chef and was later drafted into the Swiss army.

In 1955, Heinz immigrated to the United States. In 1958, he was drafted in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany where he was a cook on the U.S. National Ski Patrol and soccer team. He worked as a talented pastry chef in a bakery in Kings Park, where he had the good fortune to meet a salesgirl named Evelyn, who eventually became his wife.

In 1962, he made a career change and joined the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, starting as a sales representative, which led to other successful managerial positions and awards. In 1981, he was the president of the Suffolk County Association of Financial Professionals.

In 1987, he moved to Smithtown and started his own business as a financial planner caring deeply about his clients’ needs and futures.

Harry cherished his marriage, children, friends and family. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed traveling and gardening.

He believed strongly in serving his community and was a prominent member of the Smithtown Rotary Club for over 30 years, and recently served as president.

Harry was devoted to his faith and was active in Teams of Our Lady and the Marriage Alive program at St. Patrick’s Church.

Harry was the beloved husband of Evelyn Nadler; the devoted father of Andrea (Richard) Restifo of Smithtown, Rachelle (Patrick) Kehoe of Niskayuna and John (Jennifer) Nadler of De Witt; and had seven grandchildren whom he adored.

Sister Magda (Rudolph) Bossard of Commack; brothers Hans (Minerva) of San Antonio, Texas, and Rainer (Elizabeth) of Walchwil, Switzerland, feel the loss of this gentle, caring, giving man, who loved life.

He is also survived by many other family members and friends.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Smithtown.

Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Vigliante family of The Branch Funeral Home of Smithtown.
