Joseph Baranowski, supervisor for GE Motors and Generators
SCHENECTADY - Joseph Baranowski, 94, formerly of Kings Road, died Monday at Schuyler Ridge Residential Health Care, Clifton Park, after a short illness.
Born in Poland and educated in Schenectady, Mr. Baranowski was an area resident most of his life. He was a supervisor for General Electric Co.'s Large Motors and Generators Division, traveling to India, Pearl Harbor after World War II, Panama, and other countries, retiring in 1966.

Mr. Baranowski was a communicant of the Church of St. Adalbert.

He was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and the Polish National Alliance.

His wife, Mary Rakowski Baranowski, whom he married Feb. 27, 1922, died in 1991.

Survivors include a brother, Mieczyslaw Baranowski of Poland; and a sister, Genowfa Jasionowska of Poland.

Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Leszczynski Funeral Home, 716 Crane St., followed at 9 at the Church of St. Adalbert, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.

Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

Calling hours, beginning at 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, will precede the services.

Contributions may be made to the Church of St. Adalbert Restoration Fund, 550 Lansing St., Schenectady, N.Y. 12303.

James Williams, retired Army colonel, was native of Hadley
UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas - Retired Army Col. James E. Williams died Jan. 27 in San Antonio, Texas.
Born in Hadley, N.Y., Col. Williams served with the Red Arrow Division, 32nd Infantry in the South Pacific during World War II.

He participated in action on Papua, New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan. Col. Williams also served in the Korean War.

During his career, Col. Williams served on assignments in Kobe, Japan; the Panama Canal Zone and Taipei, Taiwan.

His other accomplishments include service as executive officer, 1st Battle Group, 3rd Infantry Division, the Old Guard at Fort Myer, Va., staff and faculty, Command and General Staff College at Fort Houston, Texas.

Col. Williams was also the brigade commander, 1st Training Brigade, Fort Bliss, Texas.

He was awarded the Silver Star, Purple Heart with two Oakleaf Clusters, Bronze Star with two Oakleaf Clusters, V-Device for Valor and Combat Infantry Badge.

After his retirement in 1970, Col. Williams was inducted into the Infantry Hall of Fame at Fort Benning, Ga.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elsie M. Williams; a sister, Mildred Simpson of Saratoga Springs,; three sons, Lt. Col. James D. Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Gary L. Williams of El Paso, Texas, and Jeffrey S. Williams of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Linda R. Williams-Crumpler of Milan, Tenn., and Gale E. Williams of Houston; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Burial was at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Home.

Agnes E. Harris
CLEARWATER, Fla. - Mrs. Agnes E. Harris, 73, of Dunedin, Fla., died Saturday at the Morton Plant Hospital.
Born in Providence, R.I., Mrs. Harris lived in Fultonville, Montgomery County, for many years.

She was a former member of the Antlers Country Club and the Ladies Parliamentary Club of Fultonville until she moved to Dunedin, Fla., in 1975.

Survivors include a son, Fred William Harris III; two daughters, Nancy Harris Emmanuel of Palm Harbor, Fla., and Kim Lizbeth Harris of Altamont; and a grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Fund.

Arrangements are by the Curlew Hills Memory Garden, Palm Harbor.

Attilio Tebano
ROTTERDAM - Attilio Tebano, 81, of Lilac Street, died Sunday at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Squille, Caserta, Italy, Mr. Tebano came to this country in 1955.

He worked for General Electric Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1980.

Mr. Tebano was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Anna Tariello Tebano; two sons, Anthony and Domenic Tebano, both of Rotterdam; a daughter, Anna Maria Squeglia of Rotterdam; a brother, Guido Tebano of Schenectady; a sister, Elisa Maria Carmine Squeglia of Castel Campagnano, Caserta, Italy; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 8:15 a.m. Thursday at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., and at 9 a.m. a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery Mausoleum.

Bob Dantz
GUILDERLAND - Bob Dantz, 62, of Western Avenue, died Monday at St. Peter's Hospital after being stricken at home.
Born in Schenectady, Mr. Dantz was a lifelong area resident.

For more than 21 years, he was a driver for Central Brown Taxi, retiring in 1992 due to disability.

During the Korean War, Mr. Dantz served with the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include five sons, Robert J. Dantz of Ballston Spa, Timmy and Dennis Dantz, both of Schenectady, and Daniel Dantz and Shawn Haskell, both of Guilderland; four daughters, Arlene DiFabio, Sharon Herold and Janice Herold, all of Clifton Park, and Debra Collins of Schenectady; two sisters, Lucille Pashley of Ballston Spa and Jean Salibury of Schenectady; a brother, Roy Dantz of Mount Laurel, N.J.; many grandchildren; and his companion, Joan Larrabee of Guilderland.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, 501 Union St.

Calling hours will begin after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Scotia.

George Gachosh
WYNANTSKILL - George Gachosh, 76, died Monday at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after being stricken at home.
Born in Maplewood, Mr. Gachosh was educated at Maplewood School and graduated from Watervliet High School. He worked for 43 years at the Norton Company in Watervliet, retiring in 1975 as a millwright.

A Marine veteran of World War II, Mr. Gachosh was a past commander and member of the Maplewood American Legion Post. He also was a member of St. Basil's Russian Orthodox Church in Maplewood, the Norton Retirees, the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 370 and the Watervliet Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Elizabeth McDonald Gachosh; a son, Donald J. Bullett of Colonie; two daughters, Nancy Cole of Hollywood, Fla., and Sharon Wright of Glens Falls; a brother, Stephen Gachosh of Daytona Beach, Fla.; four sisters, Anna Allen and Julia Geleta, both of Cohoes, Olga Cusack of Maplewood, and Helen Gaj of Malden Bridge; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, with a Parastas Service at 7:30 p.m.

Services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home and 9:30 a.m. at St. Basil's Russian Orthodox Church. Burial will be in St. Basil's Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Town of North Greenbush Ambulance Squad in care of the funeral home.

Hyacinthe Marayno
ALBANY - Mrs. Hyacinthe Marayno, 90, of the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center died Sunday at the home after a long illness.
Born and raised in New York City, Mrs. Marayno lived in Irvington, N.J., and assisted her husband in the operation of a hardware store during the Great Depression. She later moved to West Orange and Clearbrook, both in New Jersey. Mrs. Marayno also lived at B'nai B'rith Apartments in Niskayuna for three years.

Mrs. Marayno served five terms as president of the Irvington B'nai B'rith Chapter. She and her husband also lived in Irvington from the 1930s until the 1950s.

Her husband of 62 years, Irving Marayno, died in 1990.

Survivors include two daughters, Elsie Marayno Selman of Arlington, Va., and Sheila Marayno Bussell of Glenville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center.

Arrangements are by the Louis Suburban Chapels, Fair Lawn, N.J.

Jeanette Parlapiano
BELLFLOWER, Calif. - Mrs. Jeanette Parlapiano, 73, died February 4 at her home in Bellflower.
Born in Sharon Springs, Mrs. Parlapiano graduated from Sharon Springs High School. She resided in Amsterdam for several years and worked at the former Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mills. She moved to California 40 years ago.

She was of the Lutheran faith, and while residing in Amsterdam, was a member of several bowling leagues.

Survivors include two sons, Darrel Parlapiano of Ontario, Calif., and David Parlapiano of Torrance, Calif.; a daughter, Dale Hoff of Oregon; three sisters, Dorothy Corey of Perth, Irma Howard of Saratoga and Myrna Wilday of Sharon Springs; a brother, Francis Karker of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Amsterdam in the spring.

Arrangements are by the Johnson-Lindsay Funeral Home, 11 Mohawk Place, Amsterdam.

John Scott
SARATOGA SPRINGS - John E. Scott, 62, of Palmer Heights, died Sunday at home.
Born in Albany, Mr. Scott worked for the New York state Department of Transportation.

Survivors include his wife, Florence Hogan Scott; five daughters, Sharon Frisbee of Coxsackie, JoAnne Harrington of Victory Mills, Angela Pierce of Cambridge, Barbara Facin of Greenwich and Mary O'Neil of Syracuse; two sons, Peter Scott of North Huntington, Pa., and Mark Frolich of Georgia; a brother, Edgar Scott of Menands; 23 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

There will be no services.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1905.

Arrangements are by Flynn Bros. Funeral Home, Schuylerville.

Joseph Empara Sr.
GILBOA - Joseph A. Empara Sr., 68, of Chapel Road died Sunday at home after being stricken.
Born in Mt. Vernon, Mr. Empara was a custodian for the New Rochelle Board of Education before retiring.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 339 in New Rochelle.

His wife, Edith Empara, died in 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Celia Boulle of Poughkeepsie; two sons, Joseph A. Empara Jr. of Yonkers and Scott J. Empara of New Rochelle; a sister, Angelina O'Leary of Shrub Oak; a brother, Paul Malagiero of Patterson, Putnam County; and four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine's Church, Main Street, Middleburgh.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 this afternoon and 7 to 9 tonight at the Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, 63 River St.

Burial will be in Potter Hollow Cemetery, Potter Hollow.
