Rosario Facci
SCHENECTADY - Rosario Facci, of Schenectady, died Monday at Ellis Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Facci was born in Calabria, Italy, and was a resident of Schenectady for more than 65 years.

He was a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy.

Mr. Facci was an electrical engineer and worked for General Electric and ESPEY, Saratoga Industries, retiring in 1973.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Rosaria Facci; three sons, John Facci of Webster, Mario R. Facci of Charlton and Giulio P. Facci of Schenectady; his stepmother, Josephine Facci of Schenectady; and six grandchildren.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday the New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.

Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Leukemia Society of America.

Thomas McMullen
GREENFIELD CENTER - Thomas McMullen, 87, of Coye Road, died Friday at home.
Born in Saratoga Springs, Mr. McMullen resided in the Saratoga Springs area all of his life. He retired a few years ago from the Farmers Hardware Store, where he worked as a clerk. He previously worked for Jake Beyers General Store and the T.J. Griffin Food Store. He also worked at the American Locomotive Company in Schenectady in the tank department, where he was an inspector and tester during the war.

Mr. McMullen attended the Bethesda Episcopal Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Margarita P. McMullen; a daughter, Yvonne Dennison of Hornell; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Home, 130 Circular St., Saratoga Springs. A service will follow at the conclusion of calling hours.

Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Almond, Allegany County.

William St. Onge
SCHENECTADY - William Christian St. Onge, 80, formerly of Schenectady and Roanoke, Va., died Sunday in McCrory, Ark.
For more than 41 years, Mr. St. Onge worked at General Electric.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara S. Dupree of Staunton, Va.; a grandson; and two great-granddaughters.

Burial will be private.

Arrangements are by the Hamrick Funeral Home, Staunton, Va.

Winifred Connor
TROY - Mrs. Winifred M. Connor, 53, of Fifth Avenue died Sunday at the home of a friend after being stricken.
Born in Keeseville, Mrs. Connor lived in the Capital Region for many years.

She was a home health care aide for Adapt Health Care.

Survivors include three daughters, Nora M. and Lisa A. Brust, and Mabel E. Thomas, all of Troy; a son, Harry F. Brust Sr. of Troy; two brothers, Walter Bowen Sr. of Troy and Ernest Bowen of Groton, Conn.; two sisters, Ann M. Clukey of Ballston Lake and Susan E. Nadeau of Albany; and seven grandchildren.

The service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer.

Calling hours will be from 4 this afternoon until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Jack G. Owens, 92, created blues style

BENTONIA, Miss. - Jack Gordon Owens, who created the "Bentonia style" blues, died Sunday. He was 92.
Owens, whose "Bentonia style" blues was a rough variation of Mississippi Delta blues music utilizing 12-string guitars and harmonicas, received the American Heritage Award in the early 1990s. He also received the W.C. Handy Award, a blues honor presented in Memphis, Tenn.

In 1995, Owens was featured in a television commercial outside the Blue Front Cafe in Bentonia for a jeans maker. Last year, he was featured during a National Public Radio broadcast of Michael Feldman's weekend show "Whatta You Know" from Jackson.

`Raps' Rapavy, 69, was longtime Linton teacher, basketball coach

GLENVILLE - William "Raps" Rapavy, 69, of Marcia Court, died Sunday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness.
Mr. Rapavy was a lifelong area resident. He attended the former Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady and Siena College and played basketball at both schools.

After graduating from high school in 1945, he served in the Army as an expert rifleman.

Mr. Rapavy graduated from Siena in 1952 and received a master's degree in elementary education from the State University of New York at Oneonta.

In 1957, he became the junior varsity basketball coach at the former Nott Terrace High School, later Linton High School.

Later, Mr. Rapavy was the varsity coach at Linton. During the 1968-1969 season, he won the Section II Championship and during the 1960s and 1970s, his combined JV and varsity coaching record was 239-95.

In addition, he was a longtime math teacher at Linton.

Mr. Rapavy also coached the former Schaeffer Brewers pro basketball team.

A resident of Glenville for the last 31 years, Mr. Rapavy was a member of the Edison Club in Rexford and the Lambda Delta Sigma fraternity and a former member of the Willows Country Club.

He was a longtime all-star talent scout for Channel 13 Sports and a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Scotia.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Judy Madden Rapavy, whom he married June 24, 1961; four sons, William G. Rapavy of New York City, Brian T. Rapavy of Poulsbo, Wash., Barry J. Rapavy of Rockville, Md., and Brent D. Rapavy of Columbus, Ohio; a sister, Mildred Macek of Newburgh; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church.

Burial will be in Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery, Rotterdam.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Adeline D. Barszcz
AMSTERDAM - Adeline D. Barszcz, 92, formerly of Milton Avenue died Sunday at Montgomery Meadows.
Mrs. Barszcz was born in Poland and came to the Amsterdam area as a young girl.

She was employed by the former Mohawk Carpet Mills.

She was a member of St. John's Seniors. Mrs. Barszcz was a member of The Church of St. John The Baptist and its Rosary Society.

She was married to the late Alexander Barszcz, who died in September 1963.

Survivors include two daughters, Jean Trzaskos and Lorraine Cosentino, both of Amsterdam; two sisters, Mary Opalka and Ann Moskal, both of Amsterdam, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. at the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place.

A funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel followed at 9 a.m. by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of St. John The Baptist.

Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of St. John The Baptist.

Audrey Bishop
SCOTIA - Mrs. Audrey Peters Bishop, 56, of Fifth Street, formerly of Amsterdam, died Saturday at St. Clare's Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness.
Born in Amsterdam, Mrs. Bishop was a lifelong resident of this area.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas L. Bishop, whom she married in December 1983; two daughters, Colleen Curtacci of Holland Patent and Karen Sroka of Clarks Mills; a brother, Charles Peters of Amsterdam; and five grandchildren.

A service is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Betz Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Amsterdam.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery County SPCA in care of the funeral home.

Charles Dumas, newspaperman, press secretary to Rockefeller
ALBANY - Charles W. Dumas, 68, of Albany, died Friday at home after a long illness.
Born and educated in Providence, Mr. Dumas moved to this area in 1953 and began a 37-year career as a reporter and press aide to government officials.

As a reporter and bureau chief for , Mr. Dumas received the Legislative Correspondents Alumni Association Award for excellence in reporting three times.

He was Albany bureau chief for the New York Daily News.

Mr. Dumas served as press secretary to Lt. Gov. Malcolm Wilson and was acting press secretary to Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller in the early 1960s.

In 1971, he was named director of communications for the New York state Senate and served as a top aide to former senate majority leader Warren M. Anderson for 16 years. Later, he worked in the same capacity for Sen. John Marchi.

Mr. Dumas retired in 1990.

An Army veteran, he served as a battlefield correspondent for the Seventh Infantry Division during the Korean War, for which he was awarded a Bronze Star. Mr. Dumas attained the rank of captain.

Survivors include his wife, Veronica Gabrielli Dumas; a daughter, Gabrielle L. Dumas of Albany; a son, Charles B. Dumas of Colonie; three sisters, Violet Reichert, Margaret Andresen and Dorothy Dumas, all of New England; a brother, Douglas Dumas of New England; and three grandchildren.

A service will be at 8 tonight at the Frederick Funeral Home, 16 Manning Square. Burial will be private.

Calling hours will be from 4 this afternoon to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany 12208.
