Barbara Arnason of Loudonville; was Sage sociology professor
LOUDONVILLE - Former sociology professor Mrs. Barbara Burt Arnason, 76, of Loudon Heights died Sunday at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Paris, France, Mrs. Arnason was raised in Urbana, Ill., where she completed her elementary and secondary education. She received a bachelor's degree from Swarthmore College in 1944 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received a master's degree from the University of Chicago in 1945 and a doctoral degree from Harvard University in 1958. She lived in Loudonville since 1971 and had previously resided in West Hartford, Conn.
From 1971 to 1986, Mrs. Arnason was a professor in the sociology department of Russell Sage College. After retiring, Mrs. Arnason was active in several community organizations, including the League of Women Voters.
Survivors include her husband, Geirmunder Arnason; three sons, Karl Erik Arnason of New York City, Paul Burt Arnason of Loudonville and John G. Arnason of Guilderland.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 262 State St., Albany.
Arrangements are by the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, Clifton Park.

Elmo E. Moyer, 91, of Saratoga; engineering professor, consultant
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Former RPI professor Elmo E. Moyer, 91, of Saratoga Springs died Tuesday at St. Mary's Home of Erie, Pa.
Born in Chicago, Mr. Moyer was a graduate of St. Francis High School in Clearfield, Pa., and the University of Notre Dame.
He worked for the General Electric Co. in Schenectady for many years; Acme Electric in Cuba, N.Y.; and was a consultant for the Espy Manufacturing and Electronics Corp. in Saratoga Springs. He was a professor of electrical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy during the early 1950s. He held more than 40 patents in his name and was a private consultant until retiring.
Mr. Moyer was the widower of Georgia Clare "Susie" Moyer and Meryl Trombley-Moyer.
Survivors include a son, Michael J. Moyer of Austin, Texas; three daughters, Kathleen Foley of Hampton, Va., Sister Marie Eileen Moyer, a sister of St. Joseph of Erie, Pa., and Patricia Murray of Amenia, N.Y.; a sister, Roma Croke Hall of Chicago; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Home of Erie Chapel, 607 East 26th St., Reed Street entrance, at which time a Mass will be celebrated by his grandson, the Rev. Joseph Moyer.
Calling hours will also be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Burke Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway, Saratoga Springs. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Rev. Moyer on Monday at St. Peter's Church, Saratoga Springs.

Alice Mailloux
HERKIMER - Mrs. Alice Roy Mailloux, 92, formerly of Fort Plain, died Wednesday at the Folts Home after a long illness.
Mrs. Mailloux was born and educated in Fall River, Mass. A homemaker, she had resided in Fort Plain since 1995. She had previously resided in Bridgeport, Conn.
Mrs. Mailloux was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church, Stratford, Conn.
Her husband, Joseph A. Mailloux, whom she married Feb. 22, 1925, died in 1996.
Survivors include a son, Richard B. Mailloux of Fort Plain; a sister, Viola Plouffe of Fairfield, Conn.; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Second Hill Lane, Stratford.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford.

Eleanora Connery
WATERFORD - Mrs. Eleanora N. Connery, formerly of Columbus Avenue, died Wednesday at Samaritan Hospital, Troy.
Born in Lansingburgh, Mrs. Connery was a 1922 graduate of Lansingburgh High School.
She lived in Latham for more than 20 years.
Mrs. Connery was a charter member of the Colonie Senior Citizens.
She was the widow of Leon J. Connery, who died in 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois C. Brower of Waterford; a son, Lauren J. Connery of Rockville, Md.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St.
Burial will be in Waterford Rural Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ellen J. Reynolds
MECHANICVILLE - Mrs. Ellen J. Reynolds, 75, of Park Avenue died Wednesday at home after a long illness.
Born in Walker Valley, Mrs. Reynolds was a homemaker.
Her husband, Clayton R. Reynolds, died in 1973.
Survivors include two daughters, Candy Heitz of Mechanicville and Diana Jepson of Clifton Park; two sisters, Viola Jasinski of Stewart, Fla., and Lillian Frederick of Cocco, Fla.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The services will be held at 8 tonight at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St. Calling hours will be from 6 p.m. until the service tonight at the funeral home.
Burial will be on Friday in Maplewood Cemetery, Saratoga Springs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Schenectady.

Ernest L. Tennant
AMSTERDAM - Ernest L. Tennant, 79, of County Highway 106, died Tuesday at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in the Town of Day and educated locally, Mr. Tennant moved to Fort Johnson in 1952.
He lived in Amsterdam since 1962.
Mr. Tennant was an oil deliveryman for the Morini Coal & Oil Co., retiring in 1985.
During World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the Army.
Mr. Tennant was a member of St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite L. Kraft Tennant, whom he married Feb. 1, 1947; a son, the Rev. Thomas W. Tennant of Canajoharie; a daughter, Kathy A. Bever of the Town of Florida; three brothers, Cecil Tennant of Edinburg, Raymond Tennant of Hadley and Wolfred Tennant of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Pearl Colvin of Edinburg; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave.
Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Amsterdam in care of the funeral home.

Eugene O. Michaels
MECHANICVILLE - Eugene O. Michaels, 44, of Leonard Street, formerly of Hoosick Falls, died Tuesday as the result of injuries sustained at his job.
Born in Albany, Mr. Michaels was a graduate of Berlin High School.
He was a groundsman/laborer at the Barry Oxford Co. in Latham. He had previously been employed as a groundsman for Kelly Enterprises at Brodie Mountain in Massachusetts.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Crandall Michaels, whom he married April 26, 1983; a daughter, Hope L. Michaels of Mechanicville; a son, Eugene O. Michaels Jr. of Mechanicville; his parents, William H. and Ruth Slater Michaels Sr. of Cropseyville; six brothers, Francis, Leland and Robert O. Michaels, all of Cohoes, William H. Michaels Jr. of Grafton, David Michaels of Maine and Alexander L. Michaels of Mechanicville; three sisters, Shirley Stanley of Salem, Jenny Seitz of Cairo and Kathleen LaMagdeleine of Hoosick Falls.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 S. Main St.
Burial will be in Berlin Community Cemetery.
Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Florence Magnolia
ALBANY - Mrs. Florence A. Magnolia, 72, of Albany died Tuesday at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Kingston, Mrs. Magnolia lived most of her life in Albany.
She was the widow of Carl A. Magnolia.
Survivors include three daughters, Marion F. Boyd of Rensselaer, Carol Engel of Guilderland and Kathy Greene of Colonie; a sister, Bernice Knapp of Rensselaer; a brother, Michael Falkowski of Rensselaer; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.

Freda Morehouse
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Mrs. Freda M. Morehouse, 86, of Ballston Avenue, died Wednesday at the Maplewood Manor, Ballston Spa.
Mrs. Morehouse was born in Grafton, W.Va. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Grafton for several years.
She was a member of the United Brethren In Christ Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Adele Morehouse and Patsy Brackett, both of Saratoga Springs, Frances Archunde of Farmington, N.M., Linda Beecham of Watervliet, Mich., Debbie Mannex of Bald Mountain, Corinth, and Mary Jane Warner of Florida; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the William J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 628 N. Broadway. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ballston Village Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
