She was formerly a waitress at Danzer's, Gruen's and Westwood restaurants. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse. A son, Edward P. Smith, died in 1965. Survivors: Two daughters, Barbara L. Dennison of Ontario and Kim M. Lotus of North Syracuse; a son, Charles M. Lotus of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; a great-grandson. Kathryn J. Hanifin Kinne, 97, formerly of South Sixth Street, Fulton, died Friday at St. Luke Health Services in Oswego. She was born in Medina and lived most of her life in Fulton. She taught school in Tupper Lake and at Oak Street and State Street schools in Fulton in the 1920s and 1930s. She was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Fulton. Her husband, A. Hamilton, died in 1975. Survivors: Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Services: 10 a.m. Monday in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Fulton. No calling hours. Foster Funeral Home, Fulton, has arrangements.

Samuel B. Lichter, 95, of McClethen Road, Manlius, died June 22. He was born in Russia. He graduated from Chelsea High School in Massachusetts and attended Boston University School of Art. He owned and operated Agawam Paint and Hardware, Agawam, Mass., with his wife. He was a member of Temple Beth El and B'nai Brith, both in Springfield, Mass. Survivors: His wife of 65 years, the former Leah Fishman; two daughters, Avis Sell of Manlius and Lynda Schweber-Reinholtz of Warsaw, Va.; a sister, Ann Sigel of Plano,  Texas; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Stanley S. Sojda, 85, of 206 Lyncourt Drive, Syracuse, died Wednesday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1976 after 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a communicant of St. Daniel's Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3146, Mattydale, and the Postal Clerk Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Madelyn, died previously. Survivors: A son, Steven of Gloucester, Mass; two brothers, John of Liverpool and Sigmund of Camillus; two grandchildren. He graduated from Augustinian Academy, Carthage, and Whitney School of Design, New Haven, Conn. He retired in 1986 after more than 40 years as a graphic designer with the heavy military division of General Electric Co. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville, a member of Ironwood Golf Course and a former member of Knights of Columbus Council 5083. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. His wife, Jane, died in 1995. Survivors: Five daughters, Marcia A. Ehlers, Maureen A. Fleming, Pamela A. Irving, Lee A. Wilder and Margaret A. She retired after 20 years as an industrial nurse with the Birds Eye Division of General Foods, Fulton, and previously was a licensed practical nurse in private duty and at Sealright Co., Fulton. She was a member of the Palermo Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 569 Auxiliary, Fulton. Her husband, Roy, died in 1982. Survivors: Two daughters, Enola M. Risley and Shirley A. Hewitt, both of Fulton; a son, Harold M. of Florida; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren. Otto W. Edkin, 78, of 442 Sayles St., Oneida, died Tuesday. Born in Canastota, he graduated from Oneida High School in 1941 and Syracuse University in 1949. He retired in 1982 as vice principal after 33 years with the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill school district. He previously was an art teacher and a ticket taker at the Carrier Dome for 17 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Oneida, and a member, past commander, chaplain and past district commander of American Legion Post 169, Oneida. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife of 54 years, the former Thelma Scott; three sons, Wayne of McConnellsville, Dwight of San Luis Obispo,  Calif., and Timothy of Munnsville; two grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday in the First United Methodist Church. Burial with full military honors in Glenwood Cemetery.
