Michael D. Jordan, 50, owned Jordan Iron Works in Albany
ALBANY - Michael D. Jordan, 50, of Albany, died unexpectedly Sunday at St. Peter's Hospital.
Mr. Jordan was born in Albany.
He was a longtime member of the Ironworkers Union and the owner of Jordan Iron Works, Albany.
A designer and manufacturer of custom iron work, Mr. Jordan created designs for the city of Albany, the state of New York and many private customers.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Obodov Jordan; his parents, John M. and Dorothy Marlo Jordan of Clifton Park; two brothers, John M. Jordan Jr. of West Sand Lake and Mark Jordan of Saratoga Springs; and three sisters, Mary Jo Cutty of Tampa, Fla., Sharon Hasselberger of New Jersey and Nancie Pendleton of Nashua, N.H.
Services will be held Wednesday at a time to be announced at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St.
Calling hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions in Mr. Jordan's memory may be made to Animal Lovers or other animal causes.

Clarisy P. Archer, 75, owned, operated former Archer's Grove
BROADALBIN - Mrs. Clarisy P. Archer, 75, of Archer Road, died at home Saturday after a long illness.
Mrs. Archer was born in Sumter, S.C., and attended Bracey School there. She moved to Baltimore and then to New York City in 1946 and was a resident of Brooklyn and Queens before coming to Broadalbin in 1971.
With her husband, Mrs. Archer owned and operated Archer's Grove in Broadalbin from 1970 until retiring due to illness in 1985.
She was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church in Sumter and received an award for service to the People's A.M.E. Zion Church in Gloversville and to the community.
Survivors include her husband, Odion Archer, whom she married in February 1947; two daughters, Dolores Archer Patterson of Raleigh, N.C., and Lillian Archer Johnson of Broadalbin; five brothers, Murray Hastie of Broadalbin, Frank Hastie Jr., Wilson Hastie and Calvin Hastie, all of Sumter, and John Henry Hastie of Philadelphia, Pa.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the New Bethel Baptist Church, 623 Manning Ave., Sumter. Burial will be in Haynesworth Cemetery, Sumter.
Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin.
Contributions in Mrs. Archer's memory may be made to the Kidney Donor Foundation, in care of the funeral home.

Lena Armstrong, choral singer, active in civic, garden groups
SARATOGA SPRINGS - Mrs. Lena S. Armstrong, 87, of Vichy Drive, formerly of Roberts Lane, died Saturday at Saratoga Hospital.
Mrs. Armstrong was born in Hoosick Falls and graduated from Hoosick Falls High School as valedictorian of the class of 1931. She attended Troy Business College.
She worked for Specialty Insulation Manufacturing in Hoosick Falls as a payroll accountant for five years.
Mrs. Armstrong was active in the Hoosick Falls Home Bureau, the Red Cross and the Boy Scouts and was a former PTA officer.
She sang with the Northeastern District Chorus and was a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and its altar guild in Greenwich, where she was past president of the church's women's group.
Mrs. Armstrong was a former vice president of the Katrina Trask Club, a former corresponding secretary of the Heritage Garden Club, and a member of the Wednesday afternoon Women's Bowling League and Bethesda Episcopal Church, where she taught Sunday school.
Her husband, L. Carlton Armstrong, died in 1996.
Survivors include a daughter, Jerilyn Towner of Saratoga Springs; a sister, Marie Graae of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A service is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Episcopal Church, 20 Washington St. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the service at the church.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Armstrong may be made to the church or to Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., or to the Saratoga Emergency Corps, P.O. Box 4456, both Saratoga Springs 12866.

Clifford Hayes, Sr.
FULTONVILLE - Clifford D. Hayes Sr., 97, of Union Street, died Saturday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility in Amsterdam, where he had been a resident for the last three months.
Mr. Hayes was born in Fords Bush in the town of Minden. A lifelong area resident, he moved to Fultonville as a young man.
He was employed by the Glen and Mohawk Milk Association for 42 years, retiring in 1967.
Mr. Hayes was a lifetime member of the Aetna Volunteer Fire Department.
He was married to Elsie Vrooman Hayes, who died in 1938.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Putman Hayes, whom he married in 1939; two sons, R. Seymour Hayes of Fultonville and Clifford D. Hayes Jr. of Fonda; three daughters, Betty J. Moore of Fultonville, and Yvetta J. Tryon and Loretta J. DaBiere, both of Tribes Hill; four brothers, Albert J. Hayes of Johnstown, Charles Y. Hayes of Palatine Bridge, Willard D. Hayes of Canajoharie and Leonard Hayes of Amelia, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Domenica Cannavo
SCHENECTADY - Mrs. Domenica Cannavo, 90, of Cullen Avenue, died Saturday at her home after a short illness.
Mrs. Cannavo was born in New York City and raised and educated in Limina, province of Messina, Sicily. She came to Schenectady in 1949.
She was employed at American Laundry on Barrett Street for more than 10 years.
Mrs. Cannavo was a communicant of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church and a member of the former Madonna Della Liberia Society.
She married Giuseppe Cannavo on July 24, 1930. He died Sept. 16, 1993.
Survivors include two sons, Benny Cannavo of Schenectady and Carmen Cannavo of Tampa, Fla.; a daughter, Carmela Cannavo of Schenectady; a brother, Giuseppe Saglimbeni of Limina; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, Union and North Jay streets, and at 9 at St. Anthony's Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Glenville.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Edward Caiazzo
CENTRAL BRIDGE - Edward J. Caiazzo Jr., 50, of Church Street, died Friday at Albany Medical Center Hospital.
Mr. Caiazzo was born in Schenectady and lived there before moving to Central Bridge in 1978.
A 1969 graduate of South Colonie High School, he served in the Navy from 1969 to 1973.
In 1974, Mr. Caiazzo began his career with the General Electric Co. in Schenectady, where he was employed at the time of his death.
He had also worked for a short time for Kintz Plastics in Howes Cave.
Mr. Caiazzo served as assistant water superintendent for the Central Bridge Water District and was a member of the Central Bridge Fire Department and the International Union of Electrical Workers Local 301 of Schenectady.
He was a member and longtime sexton at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Abel Caiazzo, whom he married March 8, 1975; a daughter, Janet R. Caiazzo of Central Bridge; a son, Timothy J. Caiazzo of Central Bridge; and a sister, Diane F. Caiazzo of Sloansville.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Church Street. Burial will be private.
There will be no calling hours.

John Sartin Sr.
GALWAY - John W. Sartin Sr. of Fishouse Road, died Saturday at home.
Mr. Sartin was born in Gloversville and attended local schools.
He graduated from welding school and worked as a certified welder at Tarrant Manufacturing in Saratoga Springs, making snow plows.
Mr. Sartin also was employed as a leather worker for Karg Brothers and the Reisdorf Tannery before retiring due to disability.
He was a communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Amsterdam and was a veteran of the Marine Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Lucia Santiago Sartin, whom he married Aug. 21, 1976; three sons, Jose Luis Sartin of Ballston Spa, John Sartin Jr. of Northville and Michael Sartin of Galway; two daughters, Billie Jo Vrooman of Hope and Tammi Evans of Gloversville; his mother, Dolores Erb of Gloversville; two brothers, Raymond Sartin Jr. of Gloversville and Richard Sartin of Maryland; five sisters, Barbara Darling, Shirley Killcullen, Nancy Canary, Claudette Crocetta and Theresa Tedesco, all of Gloversville; and two grandsons.
Services will be at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, and at 9:15 at St. Michael the Archangel church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Joseph Winarowski
TROY - Joseph S. Winarowski, 56, of St. Lukes Avenue, died Sunday at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Troy, Mr. Winarowski was a lifelong city resident. He was educated at Troy schools.
He was employed at Portec for 26 years and was a truck driver for several years for James P. Keegan in Kinderhook, retiring in 1993 due to ill health.
Mr. Winarowski was a member of the North Troy Stag Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ranken Winarowski; a son, Joseph S. Winarowski Jr. of Troy; a daughter, Darlene Seely of Vermont; and two brothers, Anthony and Michael Winarowski, both of Troy.
Services will be private. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1450 Western Ave., Albany 12203.
Arrangements are by the Bryce Funeral Home.
