Luke P. Ganley, 83, of 1 Franklin Square, Syracuse, died Saturday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1984 after 10 years as a salesman at Bresee Chevrolet, Liverpool, and previously was a salesman with Coca-Cola and Pepsi Co. He was a counselor for Alcoholics Anonymous and a communicant of Most Holy Rosary Church, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Nancy A., died in 1996. Survivors: Six daughters, Nancy Haryan and Theresa Morgan, both of Westvale, Kathy Sheehan of Baldwinsville, Patty O'Hara of Onondaga Hill, Barbara Hogg of Buffalo and Margaret Sullivan of Camillus; five sons, Daniel E. of Westvale, Thomas of Elbridge, William J. of Radisson, Luke P. Jr. of Buffalo and Robert of Tully; three sisters, Katherine Young, Lolly Flood and Tesa Bennett, all of Syracuse; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services: 9 a.m. Monday at Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in Most Holy Rosary Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours, 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home, 1628 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. Brenda P. Green

Brenda P. Green, 64, of 721 Tallman St., Syracuse, died Friday. She was a life resident of Syracuse. She retired in 2000 after 27 years as a teaching assistant at Dr. King Elementary School in the Syracuse City School District. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the renovation committee at Dr. King. A son, Eric, died in 1995; a son, Jon, died in 1999; a daughter, Colleen Green, died in 1955. Survivors: Her husband of 47 years, Nesbit Jr.; a daughter, Angela Emanuel of West Lafayette, Ind.; two sons, Ernest and Sheldon, both of Syracuse; three sisters, Lorraine Brooks, Stephanie Shelton and Debra Derby, all of Syracuse; four brothers, Herbert Derby, Ralph Derby, Nelson Derby and George Derby, all of Syracuse; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial, Onondaga Valley Cemetery. No calling hours. Farone & Son Funeral Home, Syracuse, has arrangements.

Ora L. Huddleston

Ora Lee Holloway Huddleston, 76, of 121 Croton Terrace, Syracuse, died Tuesday. Born in Canton, Miss., she attended Mississippi public schools. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Frank, and three daughters, Ida N. Thomas, Lula B. Huddleston and Delores Huddleston, all died previously. Survivors: Six daughters, Rosetta Huddleston, Edith Pritchett, Arlene Barton, Hattie Huddleston and Denise Huddleston, all of Syracuse, and Geneva Graves of Atlanta, Ga.; six sons, John, Donald Sr., Andy Sr., Johnny Sr., Arthur Sr. and James, all of Syracuse; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren. Margaret Mary O'Brien Kanar, 62, of Ford Street, Baldwinsville, died Friday. Born in Syracuse, she was a life resident of Baldwinsville. She attended Baker High School and St. Lucy's High School, Syracuse. She graduated from Central Technical School of Nursing in 1973. She retired this year after 28 years as a licensed practical nurse at Community General Hospital. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville. Survivors: Her husband, Donald O.; a daughter, Mary Beth Thrush of Davidson, N.C.; several stepchildren; a sister, Sister Michael Marie of Syracuse; two brothers, Brother William (Daniel O'Brien) O'Carm of Liverpool and Michael F. O'Brien of York, Pa. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Falardeau Funeral Home and 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Thelma S. Lowden

Thelma Stock Lowden, 85, of 1315 county Route 3, Hannibal, died Saturday. Born in Hannibal, she spent winters in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She graduated from Hannibal High School and Central City Business Institute. She worked more than 20 years at Marine Midland Bank. She was a member of the Shirts N' Skirts square dancing club, Fulton, and a life member of Hannibal Community Church. A son, Patrick W. Jr., died in February. Survivors: Her husband, Patrick L.; two sons, Terri of Howell, Mich., and Doug of Canandaigua; a brother, Gerald Stock of Plainville; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. He was a member of American Legion Valley Post 1468 and Teamsters Local 1149. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and a Navy veteran of World War II. Sophie E. Stranc Weber, 96, of Syracuse died Friday. She was born in Poland. She retired in 1968 after 20 years as a custodian at Marsellus Casket Co. She was a communicant of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, where she was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and a former member of the Jadwiga and St. Agnes societies. She also was a former member of the Red and  White Polka Club. Her husband, Peter J., died in 1972; a daughter, Linda  Schmidt, died in 2001; a son, Peter, died in 2000. Survivors: A daughter, Virginia Chlebanowski of Syracuse; two sons, Richard of Syracuse and Brother Didacus (Bob), O.F.M., of Philadelphia, Pa.; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Transport Workers Union. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife of 60 years, the former Janet Goodfellow; a daughter, Carol J. Standridge of Cazenovia; a son, Richard J. of East Syracuse; two sisters, Helen Noto of East Syracuse and Dorothy D'Agostino of Kirkville; one grandson; one stepgranddaughter and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Ralph W. Alvarez Jr., 80, of 387 Genesee St., Oneida, died Sunday at Oneida Healthcare Center. Born in Boston, he attended Boston schools. He was a lithographer at Canterbury Press, Rome, and previously with Brodock Press, Utica. He attended St. Joseph's Church in Oneida, was a former member of the American Legion in Rome and the Rome Elks Lodge, and coached Little League in Rome. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Survivors: His wife of more than 16 years, the former Mary Jane Newcomb; a daughter, Annette  Jackson of Rochester; two sons, David W. of Glenwood Springs,  Colo., and Donald T. of Rome; two stepdaughters, Sandra Roach of Southlake,  Texas, and Terri Evans of Rome; a stepson, Paul Thorna of Pratts Hollow; two sisters, Carol Anderson and Lorraine Songini, both of Boston; three brothers, Robert of Wareham, Mass., and Henry and Ronald, both of Boston; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Tony J. Anthony Jr., 46, of Syracuse died Saturday from injuries suffered in an accident at Crucible Specialty Metals. He was born in Syracuse. He was a machine operator at Crucible for 26 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers of America, a communicant of St. Margaret's Church, a former coach of Salt City Little League and a member of the golf league at Crucible.
