Richard Sefcovic
JOHNSTOWN - Richard J. Sefcovic, 82, of Briggs Street, died Wednesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, after a short illness.
Mr. Sefcovic was born in Johnstown.
He retired in 1990 from N.A. Taylor of Gloversville.
Mr. Sefcovic also worked for the former Johnstown Tanning and the former Fleming & Joffe.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army's Second Armored Division.
Mr. Sefcovic was a member of St. Anthony's Church, the Johnstown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 510, the Pine Tree Rifle Club, and the Johnstown Loyal Order of the Moose.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Tanner Sefcovic, whom he married Aug. 9, 1952; two sons, Anthony and John Sefcovic, both of Johnstown; and four grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Church, Nicholas Street.
Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours are from 3 to 6 p.m. on Friday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St.
Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or to Nathan Littauer Hospital.

Mary Marek
PERTH - Mrs. Mary J. Marek, 82, of McKay Road, died Wednesday at home.
Born in Amsterdam, Mrs. Marek was a lifelong area resident.
She worked for the St. Thomas Co. in Gloversville prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Marek was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church.
She was a member of Hagaman Senior Citizens and served as the organization's secretary for five years.
Her husband, Herman Marek, died in 1969.
Survivors include a son, Jerome Marek of Perth; a daughter, Diana Marek of Niskayuna; a brother, George Pilecki of Schoharie; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Jendrzejczak Funeral Home, 200 Church St., and at 10 at St. Stanislaus Church, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
A calling hour will precede the services Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, NY 12078, or the charity of choice.

Sophie Gacek
GUILDERLAND - Private services will be held for Mrs. Sophie Gacek, 86, of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, who died Wednesday at the center.
Born and educated in Troy, Mrs. Gacek worked at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy as a member of the support staff for many years.
She was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church in North Albany.
Mrs. Gacek was the widow of Raymond Gacek, who died in 1959.
Survivors include a daughter, Annette Argyros of Loudonville; a son, John Gacek of Cobleskill; two sisters, Stella Mack of Cohoes and Mary Maksimowicz of Waterford; a brother, Thomas Godzik of Poultney, Vt.; and a granddaughter.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy.

Shirley Maloney
LAKE PLEASANT - Mrs. Shirley M. Maloney, 80, of South Shore Road, died Monday at home after being stricken.
Born in Rochester, Mrs. Maloney had been a part-time resident of Lake Pleasant for 45 years before becoming a permanent resident in 1985.
Mrs. Maloney attended Seton Hill College in Pennsylvania.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Maloney was a member of the Lake Pleasant Golf Club, the Hamilton County Twigs and the Oak Hill Country Club of Rochester.
She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church.
Her husband, Edgar C. Maloney, whom she married July 29, 1944, died in 1993.
Survivors include two daughters, Ann Schneider of Williamson and Kathleen DeAngelus of Pittsford; a brother, Raymond Beaucaire of Pittsford; and four grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. James Roman Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Pittsford Cemetery, Pittsford.

Lorraine Smith
GLENVILLE - Mrs. Lorraine K. Smith, 89, of Jennifer Road, died Tuesday at Ellis Hospital after a short illness.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Smith was a lifelong area resident.
She was a clerk for the former General Electric Maqua Co., retiring in 1972 after 23 years of service.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the East Glenville Community Church.
Her husband of 63 years, P. Sheridan Smith, died in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Phillip H. Smith of Glenville; a sister, Mary Clemons of Scotia; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave. (Route 50), Scotia.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Scotia.

Julius Stankus
COLONIE - Julius R. Stankus, 78, of Caveson Lane, died Tuesday at home.
Born in Albany, Mr. Stankus had been a Colonie resident for 46 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe. He received the Bronze Star.
Mr. Stankus worked for the Servomation Corp. in Saratoga Springs for 31 years, retiring in 1988.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patricia A. Stankus; five sons, Robert T. Stankus of Schenectady, Gerald P. Stankus of Pennsylvania, Richard E. Stankus of Guilderland, and Donald J. and James M. Stankus, both of Colonie; four brothers, Alfred Stankus of Wynantskill, William C. Stankus of Schenectady, Richard Stankus of Colonie and Leo Stankus of Guilderland; three sisters, Vera Smith of Albany, Frances Russo of Rotterdam Junction and June Stankus of Schenectady; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 8:15 a.m. Saturday at the New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, followed at 9 a.m. at the Church of Saint Clare, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Memory's Garden.

Josephine Molello
ALBANY - Miss Josephine Molello, 88, of the Albany County Nursing Home, died Tuesday at St. Peter's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Rome, Italy, Miss Molello lived in Albany all of her life.
Until retiring, she was a payroll clerk at the Freihofer Baking Co.
Miss Molello was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a brother, Peter R. Gerace of Albany; and a sister, Judy Fiscaletti of Slingerlands.
A service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Chicorelli Funeral Home, 331 Delaware Ave., where a calling hour will begin at 8:30.

John Manchester
GLOVERSVILLE - John "Jack" Manchester Jr., 64, of County Highway 112, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after being stricken at home.
Born in Gloversville, Mr. Manchester was a 1954 graduate of Johnstown High School and was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1955 to 1963.
He was a member of the Johnstown Loyal Order of the Moose and attended the former Garoga Methodist Church.
Mr. Manchester worked at General Electric Co., Schenectady, retiring in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, June Knoblauch Manchester, whom he married Nov. 16, 1957; two sons, John R. Manchester of Santa Monica, Calif., and Fred A. Manchester of Bleecker; a daughter, Brenda L. Manchester of Gloversville; two sisters, Betty Hulsaver of Caroga Lake and Connie Smith of St. Johnsville; and three grandchildren.
There are no services or calling hours.
Cremation will be in Vale Crematory, Schenectady.
Contributions may be made to the Caroga Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements are by the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, Johnstown.
