Judith Allen
CHARLTON - Mrs. Judith Shoemaker Allen, who was a cheerleader coach/advisor for several area schools, died Monday at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Mrs. Allen, of Crawford Drive, was 64.
Born in Jackson, Mich., Mrs. Allen had lived in Charlton for 37 years. She was a 1954 graduate of Jackson High School in Jackson, Mich.

Mrs. Allen was a cheerleader coach/adviser for Union College in Schenectady, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School and Burnt Hills Pop Warner Football. She was also a purebred dog breeder.

Mrs. Allen was a host for New York City Fresh Air Children for 10 years and a local chairman for three years. She was a cheerleader competition and tryout judge, and an exercise instructor.

She was a member of Burnt Hills United Methodist Church and its choir. She was also a confirmation class teacher.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Richard R. Allen; a daughter, Richelle J. Modic of Bethlehem, Pa.; a son, Randal J. Allen of Fairfield, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church.

There are no calling hours.

Contributions may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Group in care of Caring Together, 167 Winnie Road, Delmar, NY 12054.

Arrangements are by the Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, Ballston Lake.

Lorraine Maynard
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - Mrs. Lorraine Kelly Maynard, who held many volunteer positions with the Hudson Valley Girl Scout Council in Albany, died Tuesday at Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, N.J., after a long illness. Mrs. Maynard, of Hackettstown, N.J., was 89.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Maynard had lived in Albany before moving to Colombia, South America. In 1963, she moved to Allendale, N.J., and in 1980 to Hackettstown, where she had lived with her daughter.

She was a graduate of Ellis Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse.

Mrs. Maynard was a member of St. Helen's Church in Niskayuna.

Her husband, Dudley E. Maynard, died in 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Marianne Maynard of Allendale, N.J., and Lorraine Maynard of Hackettstown, N.J.

A service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Jones Funeral Home, 1503 Union St., Schenectady, followed at 9 a.m. at St. Helen's CHurch, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated.

Calling hours will be from 3 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

Marcia Dibble
JOHNSTOWN - Mrs. Marcia Dibble, 81, of Prospect Street, died Tuesday at Nathan Littauer Extension Health Care Facility after a long illness.
Born and educated in Cobleskill, Mrs. Dibble was a homemaker.

She was a Protestant.

Mrs. Dibble was a member of the Johnstown 50 Plus Senior Citizen Center.

Her husband, Floyd Dibble, whom she married in 1941, died in 1983.

Survivors include two sons, Wesley and Lloyd Dibble, both of St. Johnsville; a daughter, Maryann Butler of Johnstown; two brothers, Robert Borest of Florida and Stanley Borest of Cobleskill; two sisters, Beatrice Winnie of Albany and Irene Snyder of Cobleskill; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 1 N. Melcher St.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or to charity.

Mary Cuoco
WARWICK, R.I. - Mrs. Mary Mollica Cuoco, 86, formerly of Schenectady, died Saturday at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, N.J.
Born and educated in Schenectady, Mrs. Cuoco was a graduate of the old Schenectady High School. She moved to Warwick in 1995.

She worked with her husband for many years in the family business, Artic Freeze Co. She was also a homemaker.

Mrs. Cuoco was a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Rotterdam.

She was a communicant of St. Madeleine-Sophie Roman Catholic Church in Rotterdam.

Michael J. Cuoco, whom she married Sept. 11, 1938, died in 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane J. Considine of Bridgewater, N.J., and Joan E. DeMarco of Warwick, R.I.; a sister, Thomasina Ferrucci of Charlton; and two grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Madeleine-Sophie Roman Catholic Church, Carman Road, Rotterdam.

Entombment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Central Avenue, Colonie.

Contributions may be made to charity.

Arrangements are by N. Rossi & Sons Funeral Home, Schenectady.

Pearl Canfield
BROADALBIN - Mrs. Pearl L. Canfield, who worked at the Nathan Littauer Hospital for 29 years, died Monday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Mrs. Canfield, of Spring Street, was 64.
Born in Schenectady, Mrs. Canfield attended schools in Ballston Spa. She lived in Broadalbin since 1955.

Mrs. Canfield began as a nursing assistant and later became a ward clerk at the Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. She retired in 1999.

She was a former member of the Broadalbin United Methodist Church and its Miriam Class.

Mrs. Canfield was also a former member of the Kennyetto Fire Company Women's Auxiliary. She was a member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8690 auxiliary; and a member of the American Legion Post 337 auxiliary.

Mrs. Canfield was a member of several area bowling leagues including the Busy Bees and the Rolling Twenties.

She was a member of the 1976 Sisters of the Brush.

Her husband, Clarence W. Canfield Jr., whom she married Feb. 11, 1955, died this past February.

Survivors include two daughters, Joy C. Canfield of Amsterdam and Judy A. Akers of Latham; a brother, William Coon of Saratoga Springs; a sister, Joan Marie Coon of Broadalbin; and a granddaughter.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, 38 W. Main St.

Burial will be in Briggs Cemetery, Ballston Spa.

Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Sarah Jane Wagner
BRUNSWICK - Mrs. Sarah Jane Holland Wagner, 81, of McChesney Avenue Extension, died Tuesday at Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a short illness.
Born in Troy, Mrs. Wagner was a lifelong area resident and was a graduate of Troy High School.

She retired from Quality Food Management in Troy after 15 years.

Mrs. Wagner was a member of Brunswick Seniors.

She was the widow of Clarence Joseph Wagner.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Ann Horton of Melrose; two sons, Joseph Edward Wagner of Melrose and William Francis Wagner of Center Brunswick; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bryce Funeral Home, corner of Pawling at Maple Avenue, Troy.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Troy.

William Macmillan
COLONIE - William A. Macmillan, 65, of Ahl Avenue, died Tuesday at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a long illness.
Born in North Adams, Mass., Mr. Macmillan had lived in Colonie for more than 25 years.

He was an Air Force veteran, serving from 1952 to 1955.

Mr. Macmillan was a member of Laborers Local 190 in Albany.

Survivors include a son, Daniel W. Macmillan of Albany; his mother, Gerildean Neubauer of Albany; a brother, Oscar Neubauer of Albany; two sisters, Jeri Wilcox and Louisa Neubauer of Albany; four stepchildren; 10 grandchildren; and his companion, Dorothy Murphy of Schenectady.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road.

A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery.

Stanley Shaw, drummer, had jazz trio with wife
COHOES - Stanley Shaw, a drummer who performed for many years with a jazz trio, died Sunday at Stratton Veterans Affairs Medical Center Hospital in Albany as a result of sensory periperal neuropathy. Mr Shaw, of Island View Road, was 74.
Mr. Shaw was born in the Washington Heights section of New York City.

He toured as a jazz drummer with the Hot Lips Page band. He studied with Cozy Cole and Saul Goodman and worked for CBS Radio with the Raymond Scott Orchestra.

Mr. Shaw was nicknamed "Rocky" after Louis Armstrong said that his drumming was "like a rock." He also sat in or worked with musicians Charlie Parker, Oscar Pettiford, Charlie Shavers, George Shearing, Dorothy Donegan and Lena Horne, among others.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Special Services from 1944 to 1946 and playing in the Navy band.

Mr. Shaw formed a trio with his wife, Lee Shaw, in 1961. The couple performed in Puerto Rico and in 1962 moved to New York City, where they performed in such clubs as Birdland, Downbeat, Embers, 5 Spot, Half Note and Village Vanguard. The trio performed at a March on Washington benefit for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Apollo Theater in the 1960s.

In late 1970, the trio was booked into the Diplomat on Route 9 in Latham. The couple moved to Cohoes in July 1971. They performed until 1992 when Mr. Shaw's illness prevented him from continuing to play.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Lee Shaw.

A service of spoken remembrances will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park.

A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
